Naw. The Rockets were epic. In both seasons 93-94 & 94-95 they were a different animal. I will salute Dirk for beating Kobe a very very young Thunder team an LeBron Wade an Bosh. But the mid 90s was cutthroat tough. A player like Derek Harper who was on the mid 90s Knicks teams had probably the strongest hands in the league an this was when hand checking was actually defense, now you can't touch these crybaby ass players. Tim Duncan would've managed in that era but what Olajuwon did with his soldiers against Stockton an Malone Robinson Rodman Barkley KJ Majerle Kemp Payton Ewing an the tougher than leather Knicks then a young but very very good Shaq an Penny who beat Jordan to get there exceeds what Dirk did by a hefty margin. Houston wasn't favored in any of those series an came out on top in all 8.

Oh before some fan boy come crying, I know it was the #45 Jordan but still it was Michael Jordan an for that 1 playoff series in the mid 90s Penny Hardaway out played him an eliminated him it doesn't matter he played half a season he was still a very good defender an not only scored 55 on the Knicks he was scoring over 27 on a nightly basis.

Tim Duncan is the most underrated superstar in history, simply because he wasn't all flashy and razzle-dazzle like the rest. He did the hard work, the unappreciated stuff that doesn't show on a stat sheet. Even then he also stuffed the stat sheet but because he wasn't out here every press conference bragging about how no one's more tired than him after the game or how he should be the MVP every year people just didn't care to notice. He'd be out there playing a calm collected game and before the other teams PF or C even noticed him getting buckets he'd have 20.

it's all a matter of perspective, you could say Kobe won 4 of his finals when his team had 2 hall of famers and the other had 1. Duncan also won 4 of 5 vs teams with only one hall of famers, Jordans Bulls won 55 gms without him, what other 90s roster could lose there best player and do that? Lebron won 2 of his titles in the narrowest and luckiest of circumstances , could be 1-8. They're all legends and amazing players, people just get caught up trying to defend their favorite and try to diminish the competition. Player hating never ends.

    • @juliusbanks1575

A little more perspective: People love to talk about LeBron's finals record of 3-6 being bad, which is fair enough I guess. But imagine if in 2007 he failed to carry his team past Detroit and lost in the ECF. Well his finals record would be 3-5 which isn't as bad of a record right? lol how could getting to the NBA finals and losing possibly be a less successful season than failing to get to the NBA finals? LeBron detractors don't think about it this way.

People need to stop using All-Star selections and Hall of Fame acceptance as criteria for "this player was good". All Stars are picked by sportswriters, and have been since the late 70's. Every year we hear about some controversy about players getting snubbed for All Star picks, while more marketable players get attention. And as for the Hall, lots of good players won't get in, because their prime wasn't long enough, or they didn't have the fortune to play on contending teams. The thing about being on a winning team is that it magnifies your opportunities. Your team is better which makes you better; you've got to win to get win shares.

It's because the defense us more limited now. Prime perimeter players from the *90s would be just as good today if not better. You gotta remember that the vast majority on Team LeBron were too young to have watched Jordan in his championship days, so they don't understand much of the context around those years. I need help clarifying this, but I hate when people try using points from other players that aren't stars as an argument. Back then you could score less than 100 points and win games. I watched KD drop 46 the other night and lose.
