@@e5141981 "Irrelevant" in your dreams maybe. That is the most iconic clutch moment in the history of basketball outside the NBA finals. Most people from future generations won't even watch the 2005 NBA finals highlights nor will they remember Spurs won, as it was just a normal final with nothing to be remembered for, yet they will rewatch T-Mac's clutch moment because no one has ever scored 13 points in 35 seconds. There is a reason why "T-Mac 13 points in 35 seconds" has more UA-cam views than the 2005 NBA finals highlights. People doon't give a dman about a random ring with nothing legendary, but T-Mac immortalized his legend status forever with his clutch performance destroying the Spurs.

One thing that definitely effected him in the fourth quarters and OTs that you didn't talk about was his conditioning. His personal trainer praised him for sure but he also alluded to Tracy not always being committed to working out and staying in shape. He said Tracy took long breaks after Seasons and didn't always take weight lifting seriously.

There's a lot of things I decided not to talk about in this video, in large part due to me not wanting the video to be over 20 minutes long but also I just wanted concrete facts and not antidotal evidence or qoutes that people could potentially argue over.
But you are completely correct, T-Mac himself openly admitted that he never really took practice serious and you could clearly tell that he was always winded in the fourth quarter due to poor conditioning

For his career he shot
      43 fg% and 32 fg% 3pt 74% ft
      Career 19 points 5 rebounds 4 assists
And never won a playoff series
A 7 time all Star |when you do your research on him you see he was a scrub
Compared to other players in the HOF

(MJ had 6 in 8 yrs) All time leader In 3s
Viewed as the best Shooter this game has EVER seen….a member of the 50/40/90 club
(it’s only 9 players ever to do this)
But Mcgrady is arguing that Steph don’t belong like he is MJ or Magic he is a player that was given this honor that doesn’t deserve it!! Obviously Steph goes in Over Hakeem (2) Wilts (2) birds (3) it’s simple to me he’s 7th all time!!

Everyone knows after his back gave out in 2008 at the age of 28, he was never the same, but he played 5 more years as an afterthought, that's why his career ppg is low. He actually has 2 scoring titles. 2000-2008 were his actual star years, he averaged 26.3/6.3/5.5 in reg season, and 29.5/6.9/6.5 in the playoffs in that span.
He didn't come up in big moments, but this obvious smear job is just stupid. Do your research is very ironic here. I feel bad for T-Mac because he definitely deserved more Playoff success than failures. The Magic definitely deserved more flak for wasting his prime on mediocre teams.
Once he got to Houston, he only had like one healthy season and most of it were marred by injuries. When he finally reach the Finals for the first and only time of his career, T-Mac was only a mere role player or even a benchwarmer if that.

yeah it is a well researched video, although it is pushing a narrative. At the end of the day, his all star years 2000-2007, he averaged 30.1/6.6/6.4 in the playoffs. He didn't come up in the big moments, but he wasn't a postseason dropper. Big' what if' to see if he would've overcome that hump, but didn't have the chance to and was cooked by back injuries by age 28.

I like T-Mac. He’s definitely a forgotten name from the early to mid 2000’s. But a first ballot HOFer? Nah. Granted, the voting process for the Basketball HOF is very different from the Football & Baseball ones but I don’t think he should’ve went in on his first try. T-Mac was a massive underachiever, arguably the biggest amongst stars or top tier players in their prime. Now, he was overshadowed by A.I, Kobe, Bron, D-Wade, and even his cousin Vince Carter and he had to constantly show people he could ball and be a star. I get that and respect the fact that he tried to make the biggest impact he could in the league but he underachieved and he never quite met his full potential. He was a choker in the playoffs, especially the 4th quarter and OT, as this video shows. He couldn’t handle the pressure and he wasn’t built to lead his teams deeper in the playoffs mentally. He was hot and cold when it mattered the most. I don’t want to hear about injuries because they happen but he just couldn’t stay healthy too. Like I said, I like him a lot and I watched a bunch of his best games and performances but he was a underachiever.

I think you may be over-rating the quality of the role players in his Magic and Rockets stops. Houston was relying essentially on Battier and Rafer Alston for secondary scoring. The team sorely lacked any secondary creation, no bench initiators, and played two-non shooting bigs at all times. The Rockets always seemed to lose on offense, and I think the lack of secondary creators was a more of a driving force in the teams disappointments than McGrady's clutch performances.

You know, it's easy to talk when you have the most talented team around you. T Mac's entire career was basically Kobe's 3 year span from 2005 to 2007 when he had limited talents around him (even though he still had an all star caliber player with Lamar Odom) and couldn't pass the first round.
The teammates you have around you is an aspect thats too underrated in my opinion when it comes to basketball.
Everybody that was around knows that T Mac in his prime was the best player in the league...not a perfect player but arguably the best.

Megadrive Mac couldn’t get out of the first round in the EAST for christ’s sake. Facing teams with relatively the same amount of talent as his. It’s inexcusable. The Yao and Mac rockets squads were always 50-win teams and faced teams in the first rd of relatively equal talent. Stop the excuses. Kobe’s lakers losses against the Suns in the 1st rd were justified because the disparity in talent between the teams was massive. The Suns made it to the WCF literally every single year.

Megadrive mac shoulda definitely beat the Hornets. It was a tight series as both teams were evenly matched but his play didn’t elevate his team. Also love how you don’t mention that Mac blew a 3-1 lead of his own against the Pistons the following year. Played like absolute crap the last 3 games. That pistons team was good but they weren’t the same team that won the championship the next year and also not as good as the Suns teams Kobe faced. The Lakers should’ve won that series in 2006 in game 6 had the team knew how to box out and close out 3pt shooters in the last possession.
Also Lamar Odom? Cmon man just stop. He was talented but not enough to be an allstar caliber player. He also had a lot of boneheaded plays. If Kobe had Yao he would’ve made it to the WCF every single year at the very LEAST. You know what happened once he got Pau gasol...

The Utah Jazz was the best defensive team those years in the NBA. Also they had 3 all stars D Will, AK47, and Boozer. With a good Raja Bell and Mehmet Okur.

      L. Thomas oh so it was Kobe fault that he out perform Shaq in game 7s or got fouled out vs Indy and won a key game in OT in Indy too huh? Lol T Mac wasn’t even remotely as clutch as Kobe even with the rockets with Yao. The fact you comment shows you know little about LA 3peat. They played in the triangle offense which depended on players playing a certain role. Shaq got plenty of touches.

Maybe I missed it but I think grant hill and Yao Ming being hurt definitely factored into Orlando and Houston’s success as well. This is a team game and other players have to show up to take the load off one of man, especially in the playoffs. Otherwise, good defensive teams can wear one man down. from that standpoint, it may make more sense as to why a guy like t-Mac slows down in the fourth. Just my two cents. 🤷🏽‍♂️
