Larry Brown's Pistons produced the best defense of all-time in 2004 and the best post-2004 rule changes defense in 2005. *2004 Pistons' Shot-Clock Era Playoff Defensive Records* Allowed under 90 points in 18 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed under 85 points in 16 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed under 80 points in 11 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed under 75 points in 6 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed under 70 points in 6 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed 65 or less points in 3 playoff games (NBA record) One of 2 teams (1998 Bulls) to allow under 60 points in a playoff game Allowed under 40% FG in 12 playoff games (NBA record) Allowed under 35% FG in 5 playoff games (Tied-NBA record, 1999 Knicks) Allowed under 30% FG in 2 playoff games (Tied-NBA record, 1999 Knicks) The 2004 Pistons allowed the least PPG in a shot-clock era Playoff run of any length - *80.696 PPG allowed* - slightly lower than the 2000 Heat at 80.700 PPG allowed - Excluding Overtime periods, the 2004 Pistons allowed 78.6 PPG for the Playoffs in regulation compared to 79.9 PPG for the 2000 Heat The 2004 Pistons also have the lowest DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run in the 3-point era (1980-present) - *92.0 DRTG* - The 2000 Spurs with an injured Duncan missing the Playoffs had a 91.4 DRTG in a 1st-Round exit against the Suns with an injured Jason Kidd missing all but 1 game The 2005 Pistons allowed the least PPG in a post-2004/05 rule changes Playoff run of any length - *85.6 PPG allowed* 5 teams including the 2005 Pistons have had a sub-100 DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run post-2004 rule changes, but all of them aside from the 2005 Pistons had heavily protected defensive stats due to playing against easy Eastern Conference competition. Unlike the 2005 Pistons, the other 4 teams had far worse defensive numbers against the Western Conference compared to the East. 3 of the other 4 teams failed to even achieve a winning record against the Western conference, further confirming how misleading their defensive numbers were due to padding them against easy East teams. *Sub-100 DRTG in Post 1st-Round Playoff Runs (2005-Present, Post-Rule Changes)* 98.3 - 2012 Sixers (13 games) 98.3 - 2013 Knicks (12 games) 99.2 - 2012 Celtics (20 games) 99.5 - 2005 Pistons (25 games) 99.6 - 2007 Nets (12 games) 2005 Pistons 91.0 PPG allowed vs East (35-17 record) 86.8 PPG allowed vs West (19-11 record) 2007 Nets 96.1 PPG allowed vs East (31-21 record) 102.2 PPG allowed vs West (10-20 record) 2012 Sixers 88.8 PPG allowed vs East (28-20 record) 91.1 PPG allowed vs West (7-11 record) 2012 Celtics 88.1 PPG allowed vs East (32-16 record) 92.7 PPG allowed vs West (7-11 record) 2013 Knicks 93.5 PPG allowed vs East (37-15 record) 99.5 PPG allowed vs West (17-13 record) So the 2005 Pistons are the only post-2004 rule changes team to have a non-padded sub-100 DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run. The 2004 and 2005 Pistons played 23 and 25 Playoff games, respectively, making their Playoff defensive averages in such a large sample size even more impressive, because they played near the maximum number of 28 games in a Playoff run. More information Video - "Overview of 2004-2006 Pistons Defense" The 2002-2006 Pistons also allowed the least Playoff PPG in 5 consecutive Playoff runs, while playing 10+ games in all of those Playoff runs. The 2008 Cavaliers after adding Ben Wallace also allowed the least PPG and the lowest DRTG of that year's Playoffs, lower even than the Celtics with DPOY Garnett. The 1964-1966 Celtics and 1988-1990 Pistons are the only other teams to allow the least PPG in 3 consecutive Playoffs, and the Celtics only competed amongst 6 Playoff teams so they had far more favorable. circumstances.
They were am awesome defense on 2002 2003 defense then in the middle of the season they added Sheed and the defense became the greatest defense ever. Holding teams to under 70 points. They plaued like a unit.
I never was so glued to the NBA playoffs as I was in 2004. The competitive level of every team made it so fun to watch. So many teams wanted it at all costs and fans cared not about low scoring, they just loved the down to the wire games and series. I miss them days!
Alex S I don't need to watch the video cuz I already knew all of this. I'm stating the fact that the Pistons would've had Prince come off the bench and he wouldn't have that much of an impact as he did
This was the team I fell in love with growing up. I still remember the things that Larry Brown preached: Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together. This team is an example of how good a team can be if they have the right pieces, everyone knows their roles and accepts them and are well coached. Flip Saunders did a pretty good job when he was at the helm but Larry Brown was still better.
Happy to see you covering this team LOW. I live in Michigan & used to watch this team play live several times a season. They were more dominant than folks give them credit for. They even went 64-18 in '06, topping the whole league. Imo, Billups & both of the Wallaces should get into the HOF.
Maaaaannnnn yall dont understand how lit the Pistons were with these 5 guys. The Palace was packed almost every game. The crowd was so hype....man these my childhood memories. Rip detroit pistons
Thank you so much for this video. The 2004 Pistons are my favorite basketball team of all time. They don't get the respect they deserve. That was the happiest basketball moment of my life on June 15, 2004.
Already knew the video would be good, because this team was really really good. And people need to watch the tape to understand! But then you hit me with the Mason ending, that’s a true legend too!
Skip 2 My Lou nah. 3rd ballot at best. Otherwise he'd already be in. He was solid, but he didnt play long enough to stack up the stats and accolades. His resume is pretty bare outside of those dpoy, blks, and rebounding titles. He should get in, but it's not guarenteed. Shawn marion had a slightly better career and he's not a lock either.
Ki11a TJ NBA champion (2011) 4× NBA All-Star (2003, 2005-2007) 2× All-NBA Third Team (2005, 2006) NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2000) 17700 pts (15.2 ppg) 10,101 (8.7 rpg) 2198 ast 1759 stls And 1233 blks says other wise. Wallace has him in accolades, but marion had superior stats, and played at an elite level for a longer period of time. His overall resume is much more complete than Ben's. Shawn marion is currently rated as having a hof probability 0.7559. Wallace is only at 0.4533. There's a reason for that.
this is my second-favorite team of all time. loved how they were an amazing team with zero superstars. just a bunch of very good players playing AS A TEAM. it was so awesome watching them play.
you EARNED my like on this jawn bro. kept it all the way official on this jawn fam. league is negligent in celebratin teams like this one. hard work go a long way. hard work over fame and flashiness. discipline. good look homie i hope you keep bringin em
The 2004 Detroit Pistons were my team back in the day. I grew up watching this team. I remember when they terrorized the Eastern Conference for several years. It was fate that BIllups, Hamilton, Prince, and the Wallaces were all brought together on the same team and it was a privilege to watch this team play the game the right way night in and night out. proved that you didn’t need a superstar to win a championship.
You're absolutely right. Despite the fact that I watched the Pistons/Lakers Final and rooted for the Pistons and relished in the victory. I too, forgot how dominant they were. Thanks for the reminder.
Just found ur channel and subbed, love ur content been binge watching ur videos , that said u should do more of these "underdog"/misfit overachieving team videos. Its nice to see/relive those moments moments in the NBA when a group of cast offs that nobody saw coming ,rose above the math and criticism and became winners together. With the modern eras emphasis on star players and individual achievements its nice to see content based on the team aspect every once in awhile.
2005 Finals : Best display of defensive basketball ever seen by 2 teams. Each shot counted and the level of pressure was insane (games 5 and 7 in particular)
When youngters or NBA fans won't understand the value of defense & rebounding abilities over all-star selections and points per game... I'll show them that video. And any video talking about how important Dennis Rodman was to the Chicago Bulls! Sorry to bring his name here.
e_man2262 Of course. There's a reason why he won multiple chips with two different franchises. But, people tend to believe Rodman wasn't great because he wasn't an all-star with Chicago and only brought up Jordan's and Pippen's contributions.
This team was a throwback to when basketball was a true sport, where competition was between 2 TEAMS and defense was a necessary part of every championship contender. There is no true defense in the NBA anymore. The league reacted to the defense of another great Piston team by declaring that the game was too physical for their superstars. That defense was boring. What we have now is not sport but rather, sport entertainment. A lot of people called this team "slow, boring, etc." but I loved watching them for their defense, competivness and the team spirit/cohesiveness that put them over the top into being one of the all time great groups to walk (excuse me, run) onto the NBA court. Nice video and thnx for reigniting some very cherished memories.
This team is the reason I watch and enjoy basketball today. Chauncey and Rip are two of my favorite all time players and I got both of their jerseys because of it.
Thank you for this video Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace deserve to be in the Hall of Fame and one day they will eventually get in it just might take a couple of years but they will get in DETROIT BASKETBALLLLLLLLL 😉👍.
I grew up watching MJ. I hated the Pistons. Regardless, this Pistons team may be my favorite NBA team EVER. It was a group of tough, hard working cast offs that against all odds won a championship. The raw talent of the team was low for a championship squad, but their work ethic, discipline and team cohesion was incredible. It was great to see the NBA equivalent of "normal guys" dominate and defeat the elite. Ben Wallace will always be one of my favorite players ever. He was the heart of this team. I still wonder how many championships they would have won if they had drafted Carmelo Anthony! I will always love this team. Great video!
Elephants On Stilts Yao Ming did alot for the international game as well, remember it's the Basketball hall of fame not just NBA. Plus Yao definitely had the ststs, just got injured. Big Ben should get in tho.
Bobby Subedi just pointing out inconsistencies i feel like sport is more objective and to deny someone who is objectivly better is horrible for the sport i actually started liking basketball because of yao but for them to not recognize ben is a travesty
Great video!!! Was a hell of a time being a Pistons fan in the mid 2000's! Because they won in 04' with their smothering defense, the nba changed the rules up eliminating the hand check. Low scoring games meant low ratings. That's why we have this 3-point circus the nba is now.....smh
Vak SpitsFax i know i am off topic, but if ben stayed pistons would have swept the cavs back in 07, and i hate his fans always bring that up like they beaten the 04 Pistons smh
idk if they would have swept the cavs. Ben Wallace kind of fell of after 2005 and while he still was a great defender he was nothing like the beast he was in 2003 or 2004.
Ben Wallace had a lot of problems with the new coach Flip Saunders. For example he refused to re-enter a game against the Magic in the 2005/06 season and even openly criticized Saunders during the 2006 ECF. The Pistons also became a zone-oriented defense after Larry Brown left which was a major change and many of the Pistons starters were reluctant to switch from a man-to-man defense to a zone defensive scheme.
As a Heat fan I agree wholeheartedly. The Heat has multiple playoff and regular season battles with the Pistons and they were great for sure. Ben and Chauncey should be in the hall no question in my mind
I really missed that team tbh. Their defense intensity was historic. Right now every team just shoot threes all over the place, even in the playoffs. Really want to see a defensive team come back.
Their defense wouldn’t be that much worse, but the value they gain on offense would be huge. Melo would be that 6th man and amazing scorer that the team was lacking.
Oh thank god that thumbnail had me on here about to light your ass up, i appreciate you recognizing mr.big shot should be a HOF. And ben wallace as well that man could play defense all night
So we would have: 2011: Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler? 2010/2009: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom? 2000-2002: Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Robert Horry? 1994: Hakeem Olajuwon, Kenny Smith and Vernon Maxwell? 1991-1993: Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Craig Hodges? 1979: Dennis Johnson, Jack Sikma and Gus Williams? 1977: Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas and Lionel Hollins? 1975: Rick Barry, Jamaal Wilkes, and Clifford Ray? 1955: Dolph Schayes, Paul Seymour and a player who never averaged +10 a game? There are plenty of teams that didn't have 3 important players, some like Hakeem's Rockets and Schayes' Nationals only needed 1 star and others like this team and the 2011 Mavericks just needed a team of role players who played it perfectly (excepr Dirk)
A few thoughts (lifelong Celtics fan): isn’t that the year Derek Fisher made the .4 second heave that eventually beat the Spurs? Prob a different ending if the Spurs (or Suns) made it to the finals that year. The reason the Pistons aren’t remembered as fondly as they prob should be (prob the best starting 5 for that 3-5 year period) is that they tended to struggle against big physical wings. That Lakers team was old outside of Kobe and Kobe is a chucker so when his team is overmatched and you can actually send a consistent double team to him, he’s gonna shoot you out of more games than not. If you can think back 12-14 years ago, this team immediately struggled against a young Lebron when he wasn’t even prime yet. Same against Paul Pierce even when the C’s were winning, like 30 games. Ditto with Tracy McGrady...he just didn’t have any help in that 1st round series. Once Paul Pierce got KG & Ray Allen in 07, the Pistons dynasty of sorts ended immediately. Great NBA dynasties usually age out and aren’t foiled per se. That’s why people see them as the best team as the league was in transition but not necessarily a great team. Even, by 2005, the Pacers likely would have unseated them if not for the suspensions from the Malice In The Palace. Still, a very interesting and important team.
As a die-hard 'Stons fan who literally watched all but two games from 2002-2006 (when I say literally, I literally mean it!) I think Big Ben is deserving. His play went beyond stats and the Pistons were never the same when he signed with the bulls. He was the anchor defensively, his energy on D was contagious, his big play blocks had the same effect as a thunderous dunk, I could go on and on. (Side note: I always loved how they would feed the ball to Ben in the first quarter on some awful post move to give hi token involvement!) All of that said, his offensive game was nothing but put-backs and he was obviously a huge liability on the line (though his % was worse than Shaq's it wasn't as big a liability as Shaq's since he didn't go to the line as much). You could compare him to an all offensive one-sided player but those who vote who didn't see him play as much would probably still have a bias. Now in Chauncey's case he has advanced metrics on his side. His eFG% or true shooting % were both very high, (near top of the league for a long time) even though his FG% was always around 43%. Made up for it with high 3 pt FG% and extremely high FT% at 90%, which was always top 3 each season (along with Steve Nash) which he could exploit by making it to the rim fairly often. Also regarding Chauncey's stats, they came in a much slower era so should be looked at on a per possession basis, not a per game or per minute basis both of which are skewed toward up tempo teams (especially the per minute). If the electors look at his stats that way he should make it. Also, though trophies and end of season accolades aren't the "be all end all" both Ben and Chauncey have a good amount of both. First, both were essential pieces of a title winning team , a game seven finalist, and several conference finals teams. Both were on multiple All-NBA sqauds, not as first teamers but still, 2nd and 3rd team appearances are still great and important achievements. They were also both All NBA defensive team staples. For individual awards outside all NBA, Chauncey's finals MVP is huge and Ben's multiple DPOY awards are both impressive and important to their chances. Bottom line, if the NBA can put in stat stuffers in the HOF whose games were of little substance there should be room for players with great team and individual accomplishments who were the key contributors on an era- dominant team. Put in Big Ben and Mr. Big Shot!
Not drafting melo was the best decision they made because darkko didn't work out which made them get Rasheed wallence who has good d. Melo would of ruined there defense
i used to havbe that poster in my bedroom growing up with the starting 5 from the 04 championship roster all sporting the big ben fro hahahaha thank you for bringing back good memories
This is the line up that I will remember for my entire life, being my home team. However they showed that being defensively minded will win you a ring. This is what I do in all my sports games for the franchise modes. Defence. A very important although not shined on by most.
As a lifetime Detroit sports fan I was never prouder than I was of that 2004 team. That team came from nowhere, no super stars, no egos, just a very solid team. They were not even division champions, and they were the 3 seed in the East. Had the superstar ego laden Lakers not got a huge break in game 2 that would've been a 4 game sweep!! The reason the turmoil happened was because the Lakers despite all of their talent and all stars had no answer for Detroit Basketball. So while the rest of the country watched the Pistons take down the Lakers and criticize because Kobe was supposed to dominate, and Shaq was supposed to be double teamed so America could watch showtime with Kobe, Malone, Peyton etc. I saw a masterpiece with the Wallace's , RIP, Chauncey, and Tayshawn taking Kobe to school, it was awesome.
This Team was pretty deep that year. Along with Sheed, They had Okur, Hunter and C Williamson as solid role players also. Chemistry and Depth Beat Talent that year.
As a Lakers fan, the 2004 and 2008 NBA Finals are the two most painful losses in the NBA Finals during the Phil Jackson/Kobe era. 2004 was rough as Pat Riley used to say "The Pistons just physically kicked our ass". 2008 was full of missed chances by the Lakers such as blowing a 24 point lead in Game 4 and then getting their assess handed to them by the Celtics in Game 6.
Ben Wallace finally inducted into hall of fame💯💪💯
Let's hope Chauncey is next.
I know it’s been two years but ABOUT DAMN TIME! Seriously though why we got mid players like Vlade Divac make it in but not a blud who won DPOY four times

The 2004 Pistons also have the lowest DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run in the 3-point era (1980-present)
- *92.0 DRTG*
- The 2000 Spurs with an injured Duncan missing the Playoffs had a 91.4 DRTG in a 1st-Round exit against the Suns with an injured Jason Kidd missing all but 1 game
The 2005 Pistons allowed the least PPG in a post-2004/05 rule changes Playoff run of any length
- *85.6 PPG allowed*
5 teams including the 2005 Pistons have had a sub-100 DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run post-2004 rule changes, but all of them aside from the 2005 Pistons had heavily protected defensive stats due to playing against easy Eastern Conference competition.
*Sub-100 DRTG in Post 1st-Round Playoff Runs (2005-Present, Post-Rule Changes)*
98.3 - 2012 Sixers (13 games)
98.3 - 2013 Knicks (12 games)
99.2 - 2012 Celtics (20 games)
99.5 - 2005 Pistons (25 games)
99.6 - 2007 Nets (12 games)
2005 Pistons
91.0 PPG allowed vs East (35-17 record)
86.8 PPG allowed vs West (19-11 record)
2007 Nets
96.1 PPG allowed vs East (31-21 record)
102.2 PPG allowed vs West (10-20 record)
2012 Sixers
88.8 PPG allowed vs East (28-20 record)
91.1 PPG allowed vs West (7-11 record)
2012 Celtics
88.1 PPG allowed vs East (32-16 record)
92.7 PPG allowed vs West (7-11 record)
2013 Knicks
93.5 PPG allowed vs East (37-15 record)
99.5 PPG allowed vs West (17-13 record)
So the 2005 Pistons are the only post-2004 rule changes team to have a non-padded sub-100 DRTG in a post-1st Round Playoff run.
The 2004 and 2005 Pistons played 23 and 25 Playoff games, respectively, making their Playoff defensive averages in such a large sample size even more impressive, because they played near the maximum number of 28 games in a Playoff run.

Video - "Overview of 2004-2006 Pistons Defense"
The 2002-2006 Pistons also allowed the least Playoff PPG in 5 consecutive Playoff runs, while playing 10+ games in all of those Playoff runs. The 2008 Cavaliers after adding Ben Wallace also allowed the least PPG and the lowest DRTG of that year's Playoffs, lower even than the Celtics with DPOY Garnett.
The 1964-1966 Celtics and 1988-1990 Pistons are the only other teams to allow the least PPG in 3 consecutive Playoffs, and the Celtics only competed amongst 6 Playoff teams so they had far more favorable. circumstances.
very nice
Gold star ⛧
They were am awesome defense on 2002 2003 defense then in the middle of the season they added Sheed and the defense became the greatest defense ever. Holding teams to under 70 points. They plaued like a unit.
TL;DR - Basically, the Pistons were really good
Amazing
I never was so glued to the NBA playoffs as I was in 2004. The competitive level of every team made it so fun to watch. So many teams wanted it at all costs and fans cared not about low scoring, they just loved the down to the wire games and series.
I miss them days!
maaan. can you imagine if the pistons drafted wade or melo
Bran Hen If they drafted Melo, then you prolly don't get Tayshaun Prince
Wade County u obviously didn’t pay attention they would’ve already had him u idiot
Alex S I don't need to watch the video cuz I already knew all of this. I'm stating the fact that the Pistons would've had Prince come off the bench and he wouldn't have that much of an impact as he did
They should’ve drafted Bosh
Melo would've ruined the team that season. Tayshaun Prince was a huge reason why they won.
Is this the most underrated team in NBA history?
Bryan Ryder yes
Yes it is
Yea
Bryan Ryder Yes
Bad Boy Pistons should be given consideration for best team ever. They would be a dynasty from 2015 to present.
Great video! 100% agree, this team would just go out and dominate, no flashiness, just hard work. My boy Zach Lee gonna love this one
Thank you!! As a pistons fan it means alot to see someone else see the greatness of that team.
Watched every single 'stons game from 2002-06'... this team was beyond special. Good job keeping the light on this team.
2:18 Rick Carlise with hair...
BiasedRocketsFan 34 he looks like Jim Carrey😂
Buckets 101 oh shit 😂
I know this is 4 years old, but Cade is bringing life back to the franchise
Put some respect on my pistons
Someone tweet this to Chauncey and Ben Wallace
Thank you so much for this video. The 2004 Pistons are my favorite basketball team of all time. They don't get the respect they deserve. That was the happiest basketball moment of my life on June 15, 2004.
It's a travesty Ben Wallace has not been welcomed into the HOF. 4 time DPOY winner and a champion...
Zamppa86 i have some good news from the future! It won't be a travesty no more.....
Already knew the video would be good, because this team was really really good. And people need to watch the tape to understand! But then you hit me with the Mason ending, that’s a true legend too!
ben wallace is a guaranteed hall of famer
Skip 2 My Lou nah. 3rd ballot at best. Otherwise he'd already be in. He was solid, but he didnt play long enough to stack up the stats and accolades. His resume is pretty bare outside of those dpoy, blks, and rebounding titles. He should get in, but it's not guarenteed. Shawn marion had a slightly better career and he's not a lock either.
CPGoat #3 Imo 4 DPOY For Big Ben is enough🤷♂️
CPGoat #3 Shawn Marion did not have a better career

NBA champion (2011)
4× NBA All-Star (2003, 2005-2007)
2× All-NBA Third Team (2005, 2006)
NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2000)

1759 stls
And 1233 blks says other wise.
Wallace has him in accolades, but marion had superior stats, and played at an elite level for a longer period of time. His overall resume is much more complete than Ben's. Shawn marion is currently rated as having a hof probability 0.7559. Wallace is only at 0.4533. There's a reason for that.
@@TheIcemanthomas as tonight will prove, statistics ain’t everything
this is my second-favorite team of all time.
loved how they were an amazing team with zero superstars. just a bunch of very good players playing AS A TEAM. it was so awesome watching them play.
If they kept Grant Hill and still got Ben Wallace they would’ve been scary
NFL Videos and drafted wade
No...Grant was ass. His injury ruined him.
They were gonna draft Carmelo, but apparently Darko blew them away in practices and stuff
not Sauer lmfao. They probably finished watching Donny Darko and was blown away
NFL Videos grant was injury prone
Great video, informative, concise and straight to the point. Shout out from South Africa
Chauncy is a kinda iffy choice but Ben Wallace should 100% be in the hall of fame. Arguably one of the best defensive players ever
Erik Lerström Just STFU, 4 DPOY solidifes your namw in nba history. Wallce will be a hofer
right @ LikeMike294
in my opinion if McGrady made it, Ben Wallace should've made it too
You misunderstood that comment lol. He's lamenting the fact that people don't care about defense. Hea not arguing against Ben Wallace.
I agree. Chauncy? It's questionable. Ben should be in in a few years.
Big Ben and Mr.Big Shot made the HOF
Definitely my favorite team of all time. Put some respect on Lindsey hunters name🤣🤣😭😭😭
Williamson and Hunter off the bench. Amazing
Facts
Mike James and Lindsey hunter off the bench would just strangle opposing guards with their Defense. Highly underrated backups.
Lindsey was the best on the ball defender I've ever seen
Trading Hunter is why the Lakers lost to the Pistons.
you EARNED my like on this jawn bro. kept it all the way official on this jawn fam. league is negligent in celebratin teams like this one. hard work go a long way. hard work over fame and flashiness. discipline. good look homie i hope you keep bringin em
Ben Wallace Hall of Fame 2021
The 2004 Detroit Pistons were my team back in the day. I grew up watching this team. I remember when they terrorized the Eastern Conference for several years. It was fate that BIllups, Hamilton, Prince, and the Wallaces were all brought together on the same team and it was a privilege to watch this team play the game the right way night in and night out. proved that you didn’t need a superstar to win a championship.
Ben Wallace now is a hall of famer
You're absolutely right. Despite the fact that I watched the Pistons/Lakers Final and rooted for the Pistons and relished in the victory. I too, forgot how dominant they were. Thanks for the reminder.
Prince needs to be in 2k. These Pistons need him and the grit-n-grind Grizz need him.
We gotta start a petition to get the Hall of Fame to get these guys in
2005 Finals : Best display of defensive basketball ever seen by 2 teams. Each shot counted and the level of pressure was insane (games 5 and 7 in particular)
Greatest video ever
You killed it with this video 🔥 great work
When youngters or NBA fans won't understand the value of defense & rebounding abilities over all-star selections and points per game... I'll show them that video.
And any video talking about how important Dennis Rodman was to the Chicago Bulls! Sorry to bring his name here.
Dave Toussaint And how important he was to the Bad Boy piston's two champions. Lol.
e_man2262
Of course. There's a reason why he won multiple chips with two different franchises.
But, people tend to believe Rodman wasn't great because he wasn't an all-star with Chicago and only brought up Jordan's and Pippen's contributions.
@nKosi Ama Kosi in 96-98, i seriously doubt bulls would have gotten a 3-peat without rodman.
Another dope video please do a video on the new Jersey Nets back in the day with kid and Richard Jefferson
Ben Wallace is a HOF, he is one of the best defensive bigs ever
he was an average player
@@youtuber3328 4x DPOY ain’t average, ESPECIALLY from an undrafted player. Show some respect and learn how proper hoops defense works
@@thebestcentaur i already summed it up in a TOTALLY respectful manner
Ben Wallace had 4 NBA defensive player of the year awards. He's going to the Hall of fame.
ben wallace need to be in the HOF!
defensive legend and 4 times defensive player of the year!
Y'all can say and think that this didn't age well but keep in mind that it took them a long time just to do it.
I think a lot of these guys deserve to be Hall Of Famers because of their accomplishments during these years.
This team is the reason I watch and enjoy basketball today. Chauncey and Rip are two of my favorite all time players and I got both of their jerseys because of it.
Because I recognize that the game is changing a lot and I can see that there are many new and different talents that allow teams to win games.
Great vid as usual man, so underrated.
Why did they get denied from the hof
BL Wilson Their style of play isn’t appreciated. They weren’t flashy
BL Wilson exactly but tmac can get in he never even won a title Ben Wallace is a top five player all time defensively
truthseeker89 for life TMac never left the 1st round
truthseeker89 for life T-Mac one was a reserve with the spurs. He had no serious impact for them though.
Because they beat up fans
Great video...love those Pistons...just proves Defense should always be your foundation when building a champion.
I’m sure that both Billups and Ben will make the hall soon.
Thanks for spreading some love to my Pistons.
It's a crime, that Ben Wallace isn't in the hall of fame.
Dre Summers lol
Wish=granted
Time to time I rewatch the 2004 NBA finals. To me a Pistons fan they are some great games.
Sooooooo............. Yao ming: hall of famer, Ben Wallace: not a hall of famer?
Elephants On Stilts Yao Ming did alot for the international game as well, remember it's the Basketball hall of fame not just NBA. Plus Yao definitely had the ststs, just got injured. Big Ben should get in tho.
Bobby Subedi just pointing out inconsistencies i feel like sport is more objective and to deny someone who is objectivly better is horrible for the sport i actually started liking basketball because of yao but for them to not recognize ben is a travesty
Elephants On Stilts basketball HOF not NBA. Yao is bigger to basketball period than Ben ever was.
Tracy McGrady was the unacceptable part.. if he made it, Big Ben has no reason not be a HOFer
Ben Wallace won’t get you the Chinese market, Yao mediocre as he is will. NBA wants the sweet, sweet, Chinese money
My thoughts exactly.
This didn’t age well. Congrats Big Ben on your HoF induction!
You just need to worry about aging well.
Thanks for the video!! We get forget about here in Detroit! Wallace and bill ups deserve hof
Ball don't lie.
E J E C T E D
One of the Greatest underDog of all time ☺
Salute Hard Work
Billups, Wallace x2, and rip will all be hall of famers, just nor first ballot.
Zach Horvitz rip and rasheed wont nake it.
Zach H
Billups and Rip do not belong in the hall of fame
@@MrShanester117 Big Ben made it, so I think Chauncey can make it. Rip is debatable
I truly love this team, til this day I wish we could see a team like this be successful
Why did Ben Wallace leave for the Bulls in 2006?
Bulls offered him a huge contract
Vak SpitsFax i know i am off topic, but if ben stayed pistons would have swept the cavs back in 07, and i hate his fans always bring that up like they beaten the 04 Pistons smh
idk if they would have swept the cavs. Ben Wallace kind of fell of after 2005 and while he still was a great defender he was nothing like the beast he was in 2003 or 2004.
you have a point tbh
Melo would of made this team worse id rather have bosh over him on this team
Erik Lerström lmao idk why you’re coming at me when literally half of the comments are saying how good they would’ve been if they drafted him instead
But that would ruin Chris bosh’s defence and he wouldn’t do much if there are enough defenders, they need offence and that is melo
I really missed that team tbh. Their defense intensity was historic. Right now every team just shoot threes all over the place, even in the playoffs. Really want to see a defensive team come back.
Best team of all time
FatherMemeDaddy eh.. 86 Celtics, 87 Lakers, 96 Bulls, 2015 Warriors.
Been a proud Pistons fan from Canada since the Bad Boys era of the 80's and I still ride or die with them regardless if this team isn't good anymore.
Man if Melo was on this team. Or if they kept grant
Khalil Blount Wade*
Khalil Blount they also could have gotten wade or bosh
Khalil Blount melo would have definitely hurted them defensively
Their defense wouldn’t be that much worse, but the value they gain on offense would be huge. Melo would be that 6th man and amazing scorer that the team was lacking.
Green Fadeaway nah they weren’t gonna draft Wade. They had Chauncy and Rip in the guard spots. And they just traded for Chucky
Oh thank god that thumbnail had me on here about to light your ass up, i appreciate you recognizing mr.big shot should be a HOF. And ben wallace as well that man could play defense all night
in my opinion every top 3 players in a championship team should be a hofamer a championship is the highest someone can reach
keney hector that's alotta hofers. What about the 01-03 lakers? Kobe Shaq and fox?
yea perhaps top 2 i guess
So we would have:
2011: Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler?
Great video brah
Big Shot!
I love the fact they went back to their bad boy uniforms during that time too. It let everyone know they were there to play and there to win.
Defense wins championships🤷🏻♂️
Not drafting melo was the best decision they made because darkko didn't work out which made them get Rasheed wallence who has good d. Melo would of ruined there defense
Excellent video!
Big Ben is now officially a hall of famer
Good ass informative video. Thanks for this
Bruhhh u are a damm good youtuber keepit going
Great video!
Tough is tough...this team is amazing.. Salute to this team
and this video sums up a team hus core definitely is worth a HOF recognition.
i used to havbe that poster in my bedroom growing up with the starting 5 from the 04 championship roster all sporting the big ben fro hahahaha thank you for bringing back good memories
Please release a list of the songs you use in the background
Well can't say that anymore 😂😂
Wallace is now in the Hall of Fame
I fell in love with the Pistons in 2004 when I was 8 and I am still a fan! ❤🏀🇺🇸👋
