      I think if you were trying to remove a partner from your life accusing them of admitting to murder would be one way to do it. The timing of her accusation would make someone justifiably concerned. I think the ex husband had to be the mastermind but this "witness" is not someone I would immediately believe to be telling the truth.

    I would call the police because he was in front of my apartment calling me on the phone and threatening to blow my brains out.
    I literally looked like death warmed over because I was in a constant state fear and couldn’t keep any food down.
    When the police came I was shaking in fear and crying while telling them what was happening. They chuckled and said, if anything really happens give us a call.

      @corvinredacted 23 дні тому +4

      @kenw2225 It's possible for a detective to go into an interview with skepticism, or even anger, without immediately being overtly dismissive. Not only does that sort of behavior erode the public's trust (and importantly, possibly a jury's), but it also makes witnesses less likely to cooperate. It's just not effective.
      And it's not his job to pass judgment on the situation. It's his job to gather information in as impartial a way as possible. If he can't maintain a professional and effective demeanor, I see that as a problem. The detective's opinion of a witness, person of interest, or suspect needs to take a back seat.

    • @emilianosintarias7337
      @emilianosintarias7337 19 днів тому +1

      that's false. women are listened to more than men, just as many as who end up jailed/homeless, offed by her bf or a hitman, or suiC1ding themselves. The reason so many women get offed is 1. most DV is bilateral, so it just looks like 2 ragers and 2. murder is a hard crime to predict and stop when the perp is a close contact of the victim. Mainly we just don't hear about the male victims despite them being the majoriy, nor are femae perps prosecuted much

      A lot of women end up murdered by spouses because they won't leave abusers.
      If the woman had communicated more clearly, it would've helped the situation. Remember also that this footage is cut and stuff may have been cut out. But really, I was frustrated just hearing her.
      "I just know." is not enough to go out and arrest someone for ... uh... maybe future murder? This is right up there with some kids' mom saying, "Because I said so."

    RIP Mellisa. Sad for her dear innocent daughter, she must be forever traumatized. 😢
    The wife is trying not to get killed and why should she also have to deal with that investigator’s bully tactics? His dismissiveness is the last thing that should be applied to a victim of DV. Doesn’t matter what his problem is he was in the wrong and he shouldn’t act like that toward her. The last thing she needs is to be dismissed and treated like a liar. She’s probably in danger for her life whether or not she’s staying doesn’t matter.

    Hearing this prosecutor announce in that dramatic slow voice that the likelihood of the DNA being from someone else was “ONE in THIRTY. NINE. MILLION” made me want to punch a wall.
    1/39 million is piss poor for a DNA sample in 2015. Modern DNA samples are exclusive to within quadrillions to 1. 1/39 million would mean there are 10 other people in the United States who could’ve contributed that exact sample, and hundreds more around the world. Given this man’s own family members also live in the same town, that fact alone seems like reasonable doubt.
    Moral of the story: don’t listen to prosecutors who selectively emphasize dna statistics. They’re probably full of it.

    A lot of people mad at the cop at the start but imagine you deal daily with people lying to you and some lady comes in dragging out why she thinks her husband is a killer...
    "I just know." is much different than "My husband, whose first wife died under suspicious circumstances, is now threatening to kill me."
    It's very frustrating trying to communicate with someone making very serious claims with "I just know."
    Was this lady emotional, sure. But she also went to the cops expressly to GIVE THEM INFO... so... give them info. Detectives usually have a lot going on so behaving this way will just feel like an absurd waste of time where a spurned spouse is looking for revenge.
    If I wanted to talk in circles with someone using obnoxiously vague language, I'd talk to my mom.
