22 year-old community college student, Jasmine Pace, had plans to spend Thanksgiving 2022 with her family. To her mother’s surprise she sent a text message last minute cancelling those plans. On Jasmine’s Facebook account there was a new post. It read: “Enjoying Thanksgiving with my baby.”
Except the photo accompanying the post was not from Thanksgiving. In this photo, Jasmine’s distinctive tattoos were missing. The photo must have been taken months before.
Concern turned to panic as her family realized the implication: No one knew where Jasmine was and someone was online ... pretending to be her.

His mom said “He’s not a bad person.” Lady, did you hear what your “not bad” son did?
It is so sad to become delusional because you don't want to accept reality.
Denial
Obviously she heard what he did, but as you saw she was frantic and desperate.
Can't believe some parents
I feel like a comment like that would make the jury more likely to give life without parole.
That mother is an enabler. For her to cry and ask for court to have mercy and let him go home and restart his life, is appalling. It gives an insight to why he is the way he is.
Well said
Exactly!!! So we should allow him to restart his life but Jasmine can never!!! FOH!!! Life without parole! Throw the key away!
Maybe this is normal in China ? Sick sick sick 🤢🤬 the parents should be deported to China.
She didn’t cry ,she made only the noises of crying without the actual tears
She deserves to go to jail too for helping him out
I think the fact that he not only posted on her social afterwards, but further victimized her by posting an inappropriate picture of her, shows the true lack of remorse. I'm glad he has no chance of parole.
He's a psychopath
Not only that, but he literally stabbed her 60 times. That's a level of anger that shouldn't be on the street.
That "inappropriate" picture of her was taken with her permission for any and all to see. 😒 That's not the reason to be upset.
She was never embarrassed by them, nor should she of been, they're NOT embarrassing either.
@@Cid-t1r Just because she took that photo, it doesn’t mean she wanted everyone to see it. Even Jasmine’s own mother said it wasn’t like her to post revealing pictures like that.
@@Cid-t1r that’s your opinion. I tend to think that her mother’s opinion is more valid.
I am infuriated at the clip of his mother on the stand and the defense's closing arguments. "He is a very good child...give him a chance to go home and restart his life..." Lady! Are you ok????!!!!! Could Jasmine "go home and restart her life"???!!!! Infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!
That was disgusting to me as well.
You’re right, that defense attorney’s closing argument was a joke

Agreed, I understand loving my son but stabbing someone 60 something times isn't a good child
@@mariajordanova5533, Ok, so when your ancestors came to this country did they speak perfect English or were they possibly given a bit of time to learn the language 🤷♀️
Police need to stop taking the 'she's an adult, she can disappear if she wants' stance when the family say it is out of character for their young daughter to go missing. Disgraceful.
We no longer live in an age of "adulthood" and "personal responsibility" - and police need to recognise that.
You can tell by the persons friends , life style , etc if they would be a run away !
The parents having to do their own investigation to get the ball rolling is something they should *NOT* have to do. Family and loved ones know the victim's patterns and habits.
No kidding, if it's out of character, it's out of character, simple as that. Get to work, law enforcement
@@stacyward4309No matter the AGE of the missing person.
His mother’s lack of remorse for the family of the victim and asking that he be let off isn’t just wild it’s probably 100% the reason he felt so entitled to his victim that he took her life.
The POS was never told no.
That's easily relatable to the fact that HE is a SON, a very valued person in Chinese culture (which as the mother didn't speak English it is presumed she was raised in that country and culture) whereas Jasmine was only a daughter... So f'd up.
You are a 100% right 🌟
She didn't ask for him to be off Scott free.. just mercy.
@@jenford7078yeah because if he was a girl, the mother would not ask for mercy... dumb take

My jaw dropped when you said that the mom entered the apt, moved things around and took items. Im glad her actions didn't destroyed the case.
I had a similar reaction. The mother is lucky she didn't get charged with anything also but most importantly she's very lucky it didn't cause problems for the prosecution of the case as you said
🤘🏻🇬🇧
So glad she didn’t wreck the case! However, I kind of understand why she did it. A helpless feeling of not knowing where your daughter is, while also feeling like the police aren’t taking you seriously must’ve been extremely overwhelming! Tbh the killer provided such an overwhelming stockpile of evidence himself, I see how her snooping didn’t do much damage.
@carmenlebron5184 If the Chattanooga police had taken this seriously the first or second time they were alerted and had initially done their job, I bet she wouldn't have felt the need to go there.
Right!!
The only reason it was solved was because of her
I love how the family became detectives. I cannot imagine the heartache for her family and friends. 🙏
The poor parents shouldn’t have had to investigate their own child’s disappearance but thank god they did! The police should be ashamed of themselves.
@@redlamina5937 That's what I was thinking as well. It is sad in many cases the family has to investigate the disappearance of a loved one because it is just too much for the police to get involved with. They say not enough evidence, so the family has to find more evidence to get them to move something. That is so sad.
From the way beautiful Jasmine is remembered I very much doubt she would have been argumentative of aggressive to anyone far less a random hook up not buying it
@@redlamina5937 💯 percent correct
Does that surprise anyone that the cops didn't do anything, yet they say the first 48 hours are crucial to find a missing person.
Jasons Mom saying " he's a good person?!" was so upsetting to hear.
Growing up, bullies ALWAYS had these parents the, "not my child!" Parents who were responsible for creating & enabling the monsters...smdh
Glad he wasn't eligible for parole.
Rest in peace, Jasmine 🙏❤️🕊️
The mother was delusional, your son killed a woman! Geez.
1a
My daughter's bully and her mother/parents were exactly like Jason's mom! Always blaming the victims for her daughter's bullying, lying, narcist behavior and actions! Always coming her bully daughter's defense and enabling her. I have a strong feeling one of these days her bully daughter will meet her match or end up in court for unlawful doing.
What a horrible, senseless murder of an innocent young woman. I honestly do not believe Jason feels any remorse for what he did. Glad the jury saw that too. Let him rot in prison for the rest of his life!
Psychopath!!
The murder was, unnecessarily, extra heinous and gruesome
Yeah, I agree 😮😮😢😢.
Amen!
That’s Murder for ya…happens everyday
To be alive and alert while being stabbed and unable to fight back or defend yourself must have been so painful and terrifying. Very cruel of Jason, what a monster.
Subhuman.
I have these dreams where when I am being attacked in any fashion I can barely move to defend myself.......I hate those dreams, but they are dreams I am so sorry for this woman and her family!!!!
It always amazes me how neighbours hear screams, load noises, and someone in destress, yet they don't call 999 or the police.

Can you imagine how the lady who lived downstairs is feeling? Hearing someone being murdered...and that mom should be ashamed for pleading for her son to have parole...
Right?! It sounds like she was murdered in Jason's bedroom, which would have been right above her bedroom... surely she heard enough "scuffling" (if not more screaming) to make that 911 call!?!
The murderers mother is a peasant.
When i was in my 20s my wife and i lived in an apartment on the second level... one afternoon we had cops of all sorts detectives, coroners in the suite directly under ours... the lady we never really met , had died... no one came up to ask us anything, so I imagine it was natural causes... And that still made us feel sad and a little guilty for not even knowing she was pssed away. Just there all by herself. So yes this one should ,if she has any feeling should feel more than bad, she shoild feel at part responsible...And in my opinion should be charged with neglect to render aid.
Why that neighbor didn't call 911 is beyond me.
A female hears another female "screaming in distress" and doesn't call 911 infuriates me so badly. Just call, report it, and go back to sleep. It's literally that simple. Then u won't feel the guilt she probably feels coz it's probably why she looked upset on the stand.

You people know why 😊

Family is SO VERY LUCKY, unbelievably lucky, that they didn't get the case thrown out, or even legal trouble from taking things that were not theirs from someone else's apartment. How did they even get access?
Kevin didn’t outright say this, but seem to hint that they broke in. Just my interpretation.
Good work on the family not giving up but I was worried about that too. I've heard of people walking away free for less.
I felt the same thing: Never compromise a crime scene. They took all those items but I don't recall hearing they reported seeing blood. Fortunately, this evil person was caught red-handed on camera in various locations helping prove his guilt.
@Cec9e13, simple, called the police first, called that scum about their daughter whereabout, lied when he said that he spoked to Jasmine for few minutes, when it showed on the phone it was over an hour. And still, they didn't act quickly. So, you have a problem with the parents doing their own investigation? You won't be saying that if GOD forbid it happens to you. It's always when it happens to someone else that people like yourself find something wrong, what are you hiding in you residence that you're afraid of? Take a chill pill, nobody wants your dirty underwear.
I understand why they did it, but I completely get where you’re coming from. The killer provided so much more evidence, the evidence they tampered with clearly didn’t make a dent in what he left behind
I AM SOOO IN RAGE by this Jason. A monster sociopath. The jury made the right decision of not letting him out. He had no mercy for Jasmine. Im sooo PISSED.
It’s probably not his first evil deed.
Mom needs to face some nasty facts.
Omg I sooooo understand it is soooooooo crazy how much sooooo
For being a college student, could the guy be more stupid by leaving all that evidence?! Just drops the suitcase in plain sight. Apparently too much work to hide it, have to get back to his Call of Duty game.
I feel the same I’m livid what he did to her 😭😭😭
He will get his in jail
I'm glad he got life without parole.
Finally an attorney admitting the criminal actually did the crime and didn't waste time trying to prove him innocent. Glad he is behind bars!
There are plenty of attorneys like that. They’re there to either get their client off or to get them the best deal possible in light of the evidence presented.
Yep he saw that evidence and was like, "F$", how can I get out of this one without ruining my reputation ... which he did anyway with that ridiculous closing argument.
@@reignman30 It's not always the attorney's fault. If a plea deal is available, sometimes the clients don't take them and roll the dice with a trial. Think of the Hiccup Girl case. She is doing a life sentence instead of taking a 10-15 year sentence. She could have been out by now. Instead she will only come out in a black bag from prison.
The lawyer only did that because there was too much evidence against his client that he could not refute . So instead he was seeking compassion from the Jurors when making his plea for Parole for his client . It was a tactic .
@cherrymetha3185 watching the missing person case of na'ziyah it was obvious yet his attorneys kept protecting him. It was obvious he did something to her. Was a waste of time 😒

The parents of these murderers never show remorse or apologize on behalf of their child. Instead, they remain tone-deaf, desperately trying to convince the courtroom that their child is a "good" person deserving of a "second chance"-a chance the victim will never have.
Agree! Well said!
I think it’s because they now realize they have someone capable of murder in the family and should they speak out against them, they may be released from prison and return for retaliation.

This phenomenon of young men getting rejected sexually, leading to rage and murder blows my mind.
I don’t know if she rejected him sexually, they were dating and in a relationship. I didn’t come to the conclusion that she had rejected him,, but maybe I missed something that was said. Editor's Note: Something about this video made me connect with the victim more than most true crime stuff I watch. @@margaretwhittaker2291 Calls to 911 have been placed for much LESS than the scream of a woman followed by sounds of running toward the door. That neighbor lady was USELESS!
I remember listening to a case where a woman was being interviewed by the press and she said "I heard blood curdling screams" but she too did nothing! I wish they had asked her why she did nothing...if but to only put her on the spot. Zero excuse!
I know! She was already awake, had already looked at the time. All she had to do was dial 911. If it had turned out to be nothing. Fine. But it's crazy to think you could witness hearing all of that, and just go back to sleep. I really do hope she feels awful now, knowing exactly what had happened to Jasmine that night.

I believe he wanted more from Jasmine, but she turned him down and he got angry. I had a friend go missing after my birthday party. She was my best friend and she was leaving with a guy there, he was my cousin’s roommate but I didn’t know him. She didn’t go home that night and her mom hadn’t heard from her so she called the cops to report her missing. I feel like they didn’t do much since she wasn’t missing for 24 hours yet. I was freaking out, I cried, I felt guilty and so scared something happen to her. She ended up going back home after 2 days!!! She decided to “disappear for a few days to see if anyone would care”. I was so hurt how could she even fathom an idea like that?? I ended stepping away from that friendship cause her choices were questionable. But some people do make choices that are out of character. I’m glad she’s still with us but I think cases like her definitely take away from the cops caring too much about an adult not returning home right away.

And to the Mother of "the very good person" Jason - her begging for mercy comes across as a very bizarre grimassing without any tears. Pathetic. At the very least, she could have (and should have) express some words of guilt and shame to the loved ones of the victim.
Another senseless crime. Another bright and kind woman robbed from us.
I am so sorry you had to go through this Jasmine. You are loved.
Some parents drive me crazy. The pure audacity for his mom to plead on the stand! In front of HER parents!
This is like a documentary of “if you’re going to end someone, this is how to do everything that will get you caught.”
It's always a pleasure to see you again, Kevin, and to watch and listen to all of your cases. Hope all's well with you and yours.
Good to see you Eire! Hope you’re well too 🙂

Her OWN father testified in the defense of her killer and that should be enough to make the conclusion her dad is a disgusting human being… as a parent I could never imagine providing a defense for the person who killed my child no matter how accurate or true that defense could be because that’s not my job as a parent, my job is to protect my own child, not someone else’s and most definitely not the kid who killed your own.
@@Gydogirl I hear you. But what wasn't made clear was whether or not he was subpoenaed to do that. If he wasn't subpoenaed, I 100%agree with you.
Right?
This infuriated me just as much as Jason’s mom crying on the stand pleading for him to get a lighter sentence!
Why would I defend the man who murdered my daughter and tried to get away with it?
My word!
I'm pretty sure he was subpoenaed. Especially how he answered the questions and gave the defense attorney attitude. He never implicated his ex-wife. "We remember things differently." He said he doesn't have an opinion when asked and the attorney said, "You don't have an opinion?" in a really snarky manner. I'm betting he was pissed he couldn't get the answers he thought he would. Yea, don't force parents to be witnesses for the defense/people who killed their children.
He was summoned. Meaning he has to testify regardless. Besides, she could have ruined the case by breaking in and planting and taking evidence. She's just lucky Chen didn't have a good lawyer, or he could have had a field day with what shs did.
@@henny6566 Yes, and then she lied about it on the stand. She perjured herself and that's a crime. Most would understand what she did in her anguish, and wouldn't want her to be punished, but it was darn foolish. Hope she can find some peace.
This was very very well presented, on such a sad case. 💜
Thank you for covering this case. It really captured public attention here in Chattanooga and it was such a tragedy. You honor Jasmine's memory and help to avoid further victims like her with your coverage.
I’m pleased jasmine’s parents wasn’t charged with burglary, as entering his condo and taking the devices was exactly that.. probably not knowing it but they could of messed the case up.
Saying that though as a mother I’d of done the same.. their instincts was spot on!!
I’ve not heard this case before.. thank you 😊
RIP jasmine ❤
Honestly i was thinking about that in the beginning of this video
I wonder how that woman on Tinder must feel, knowing she was targeted by this horrid man. How many times young women are targeted by creeps. With dating apps the creeps can pretend to want to get to no you first, instead of approaching you on the street. Usually I'm not totally opposed to parole, but this guy has such a malevolent, entitled mindset I'm glad he was setenced to life without parole.
There was no Tinder match all day that day. He lied.
If they have hybristophilia, they'd want him.
I just found your channel and first off, I'm glad that you're spreading awareness.
Next, right off the bat, your channel feels like it's fonna be a go to
This channel just keeps on delivering the goods.
I follow various youtube crime channels. Kevin, is by far the best narrator around!👍
Absolutely heartbreaking 💔
Pls always call 911 when you hear screaming! You might be saving a life!
Good morning, Kevin! It's JTL Sunday, and I'm here for it! Thank you, as always. ❤ your channel and always hit the "like" button first because I know your quality.
I can understand mother being devastated. She is a victim too of this man and his horrible crime
Excellently told, you showed me the people, I mean the victim and the slayer, imo Jason Chen used that dating app to hunt a victim and found Jasmine, thanks to Jasmines family this demon is off the streets forever, RIP Jasmine Pace.
Give him a chance? Does his mother mean a chance like he gave Jasmine? Listening to what happened to Jasmine is gut wrenching. My heart hurts for her loved ones.
Hey, Kevin! Thank you for another amazing upload. So happy to get my notification today!❤😊
60 stab wounds..stuffed into a suitcase thrown out like garbage ..and his low life lawyer wants the animal to have the possibility of parole?
I hope every second that coward spends in jail is hell on earth
So happy this channel is thriving ! amazing content ❤
Man his lawyers are just a horrible as him. Asking for parole is ridiculous. 60X he stabbed her while handcuffed. He deserves the life sentence with no parole.
Momma wasnt playing around
Always baffled me when the defense goes the "this wasn't planned out; this was purely spur-of-the-moment emotions" ...... like how is that any better?? You're trying to convince me, the juror, that your client kills when they get emotional? Well, damn, then throw that man in prison FOREVER because all I'm hearing is that he's capable of doing it again the next time he gets emotional. That ain't a reassuring thought!
From the sounds of the police response I can understand why the neighbor didn't call them. Some law enforcement is not about actual truth seeking but bullying and power. In a lot of cases the people that call are the ones harassed, it's happened to me and it's unbelievable. Just a thought. I still call though if I think it's serious. Why do some grown little boys do this? Sick violent predators need to never be out in society.
But when you need them they’re there. Shame they can’t refuse to help unappreciative people like you.
Please stop lol.
The murderer is not a victim.
Good grief what is wrong with that damn neighbour??? RIP Jasmine. What a tragedy.
You’re telling me the police yet again had no interest in “protecting and serving”? Color me shocked.
It's easy to think that this is the norm, but it's actually very unusual. It's simple confirmation bias. People tend not to take note of the majority of the time when cases were handled properly and thoroughly.
@@VioletJoy It shouldn't be happening at all. That's the point.
@@namesake830 Do you have any suggestions as to how to have police handle every single case perfectly?
@@VioletJoywow, someone is making excuses for inexcusable behaviour. Nice! You must be law enforcement yourself or perhaps a member of your family is, otherwise you wouldn't be getting out of your way to come up with asinine excuses.
@@auzieblo What excuses did I come up with? I'll ask the same practical question that I asked before. How do you suggest that police handle every single case without flaw?
I watched the trial and there were times when I had to take breaks. This was beyond brutal and horrific. The Pace family is incredible and I’m so very sorry for the loss of Jasmine. I wish she had never met Jason.
