Thx to your channel I brought out my old equipment and pressed my first t-shirt in over twelve years. Roland Gx-24 cutter and a Geo DK20 heat press. The twelve year old heat transfer vinyl was still good 💯.
You are talented! You understand life from many angles besides yours and you're able to explain it. People like you are my celebrities. Such an admirable mindset!
I have access to vinyl, transfers and screenprinting. I'm no pro when it comes to screen printing but I use it for big runs of single color. But for field trip shirts, we use 15 cent transfers all day and multicolor transfers for the complex stuff. We also use vinyl for names and jerseys. Nothing is "better.". They all work.
Not gonna lie, you just changed my entire thinking when it comes to heat press. My mom were literally about spend thousands on DTG and screen printing. Now that I know that it’s possible to run a reputable business and make professional shirts using heat press, I’m gonna do the necessary work to make it happen. Dope video, that’s for giving us the real!!
thats an expensive investment. what dtg owners dont like to talk about is clogged print heads. white ink causes alot of issues with dtg. alot of companies promote "self cleaning" or "routine maintenance" but they dont talk about how often it happens. explore all the print options out there. find what makes sense to you and your budget and then really look into all the details. maintenance, consumable cost, work space needed, storage, electrical needs, education/tutorials and customer support.
@@BigBrandoh They sure don’t, because I didn’t even know that😭 Yeah, I’ve been researching like a mf these past few weeks. I’m eager to get started but, I wanna know all the ins and outs first. Your channel is definitely a big help, I’ve been loving all your content- old and new.
I have to agree with you that printing technology changes overtime and I personally have tried everything. I use plastisol transfers, supacolor, htv, DTF transfers, and sublimation. You inspired me to start my own business and always enjoy your videos! Thanks for your content Big Brandoh!
I get my shirts screenprinted and started screenprinting my own stuff, but I still watch these videos from Brandoh, esp for the business side of things. Circle or square it’s still a shape, just the one you prefer. 🤙🏽
mannnnn thats what im talkin about bro! thanks for watchin and for the continued support! a shape is a shape!!! 📠📠📠
Where do you get your blanks tshirts?
Knowledge is power. Thank you for sharing. During times like this we as people forget how to share and how to be positive. Thank you so much for sharing and being positive. Many blessings to you and your family.
Well said Sir, thats my thoughts exactly. I think we need to stop thinking in terms of superiority and more in terms of variety, convenience and understand to each his own, especially if a person is starting out this business in their bedroom, they might not be able to fit a DTG printer in there, just a heat press, vinyl cutter for for now, until they scale up. 🔥🔥
Really appreciate the clarity you give. I'm going in new to the business... I want to make high quality garments which leads me away from heat transfers, but I don't think I have the clientele to do that just yet. Glad to hear you have kept large clients that you've had for many years and not had an issue with quality.
My dude, thanks for spitting this game! Helps cleanse the mind while weighing a move to DTF and heat pressing! Appreciate you dropping this knowledge.
Tired of my transfers cracking after one wash. I use a white toner printer. What transfers do you use Brandoh?
check the links in my description box
Thank you for all your inside advice. Appreciated!!
thanks for watchin 👊🏾
Mannnn that was probably the best way to put it, it’s all your personal preference, great video I’m happy I ran into this video because I do it all but I like using vinyl and white toner. Thank you.
Nice came in here for the t shirt video and left knowing about music production and the music industry haha thanks for he videos
I’m trying to print vintage tees supacolor prints are too thick and feel like plastic. Any suggestions for other companies for dtf?
Silkscreening is good but very expensive and takes a long time for setup. I was the guy that started with silkscreening and swore by it until heat transfers came out. I went out and bought all the stuff I needed including the Epson p400,1400, from black Pearl to accuRip ruby red software to print the film positives, to the ink cost screens knowing the difference between a 140 mesh and 220 mesh. Exposure units, flash dryers you name it. Heavy invested and I’m ready to sell it all! I say all this to say Heat transfers is the way to go in 2021 the new technology is amazing and the quality is unbelievable.
I do screen printing and I heat press my work...and I can straight up 100say that with the combo of screen printing with heat press smashes tko type transfers...and I layer my color 3to4 flashes...
Transfer are nice if u doing multiple 5plus colors..
You gotta have customers that want screen printing and not Transfers...so what do u tell them.do u turn the work away,or play the middle man and have someone else screen print for u. Or since some Transfers are screen printed with same paint on to paper, then heat pressed, technically aren't you providing a screen printing service...I used tko Transfers. And do be honest i don't recall if tko is screen printing method on to Transfers..
This is so helpful!! I’ve been wanting to start up my business again and used to press htv after I weeded all of it. Now just looking to put my designs on transfers and sell those. I’ve been struggling to decide between printing my own (sublimation) and/or just ordering from a vendor. Soooo hard to decide!
Hey Brandoh I’m looking to start making tees really for myself and a couple friends…I wanted to do a inkjet printer and heat transfer I was wondering if you had any printers you’d recommend
Instead of those screen printers who are talking crap about the way you do your business why don’t they offer their services to people who like to use screen print transfers. If I’m a screen printer and I don’t have to worry about ordering T-shirts and screen printing shirts and all I have to do is screen print this transfer paper and thats it? COOL, I would most definitely offer my services to do screen printing transfers. I don’t understand the hate why can’t we just all network and make money together
I like ur thoughts i subscribed looking forward for more info.
I like the heat press and iron on designs--old school and cool!
I'm about whatever the customer wants! 🤷🏽♂️ I screen printed shirts yesterday, right now I'm weeding vinyl catching up on UA-cam subscriptions. Tomorrow's agenda is transfers 😂😂😂. Didn't realize you were on TikTok! Headed over there now to find you. Keep it real 👊🏽
I do both and they both have their place. I agree with you 💯
Always enjoy hearing your opinion, Thanks.
I appreciate all the info I get from from you g. I can relate to you and now I'm gonna start my own business. Thank you...
I just started following you, you're the BOMB, thanks for your wisdom!!
Ricoma Embroidery Machines YOU HAVE THIS ONE BIG BRANDO I WANT TO GET ONE DO KNOW ANY MACHINE FOR BEGINERS
Can you send link the the exact short you use? I can't find them. 😫
where are you looking for them? have you tried google?
Hey I’ve been trying to get transfers from super color but they keep telling me they partnered with bolt And don’t come through .. Have you had any problems with this also??
Thanks for this! Im a full-time graphic designer/illustrator. Trying to join the heat press party. Do you have recommendations which machine to get for a beginner like me? Being in the design industry for 13+ years now, I'd say I have a keen sensitivity when it comes to output quality. Want to make anything I design in the digital space come out consistent when pressed. Thank sin advance!
What’s good Bro? I’m looking to start my own Brand. So From your experience, Does it make sense to invest into a vinyl cutter as well as a heat press even tho I’m leaning more towards just ordering heat transfers? Thanks in Advance!
100% up to you and your budget. i use my vinyl cutter to test out designs before i order transfers. cut 1 out with vinyl, slap it on a shirt and see if people fuck with it. if i get good feedback, order transfers. if i get negative feedback or no reaction, save my money and dont order transfers
@@BigBrandoh I appreciate Dat.. Aye You a Real one Bro. Just know Dat..💪🏽
How can I print off my own heat transfers?
The best in the business! Appreciate all the knowledge
Whats up Big! What is the difference between colored heat transfer vinyls?? Like what is the difference in using a white vinyl or pink vinyl?
no difference. its the same vinyl just diff color
How did/do you get corporate customers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊
you gotta sell your services to them. easiest way i find my way in is thru a PR person and a fundraiser. build from that relationship
I'm thinking about trying to print on vinyl using solvent ink.... have u tried it or know someone who has
I need some help. I created my own brand, social medias and websites. I REALLY need some help choosing what method will be the most durable on shirts when it comes to washing and drying. Can anybody help me please? I know nothing about making shirts but would love to get into it
watch one of my newest vids called "using a heat press for your brand" also youtube search "big brandoh wash test" you can see how shirts hold up after multiple washes
I screen print and then heat press my designs after. So
I have learnt a lot from you,THANK YOU si much.
You are always relevant and you have great advice and info.
You're real AF bro 😅
Aye firstly I'd like to thank you for the useful in site and knowledge you bless us with on the regular, it help a whole lot
I'd like to ask bro, you had said it one of your videos that you use the Teflon sheet as a buffer from the static, but I see that sometimes you use it sometimes you don't. Why? Does different transfer methods require you to switch it up, if so please do educate me Big Homie
some transfers create static and some dont. supa color creates static but transfer express doesnt. so for transfers that create static i use it and transfers that dont i dont use it.
DIRECT , CLEAR , TRUTH, , nice video man, btw are you pinoy??? keep it up
Appreciate your videos!
Great way to explain!!!!🙏🏼👍🏼
I’m just here to try and figure out why at 30yo I have tshirts from high school that still have the graphics on them, while so many shirts I’ve bought over the last few years are completely peeled off.
It’s not just one or two, it’s many of the shirts I’ve bought from many different places that aren’t even legible after just a couple years.
There’s obviously something going on in the T-shirt printing indu, and it’s bullshit.
alot of it has to do with how the shirt is cured. some print shops like to cut corners and flash dry the shirt instead of curing it correctly. thats usually what makes prints crack and chip and crumble after a few washes. when plastisol ink is cured correctly, most of the time the print will out live the t shirt
Great for always inspiring the content. Greetings HEALTHY
Thank you Big Brando I'm sorry that you have to contend with the a lot of don't knows. For me heat transfer was a lot cheaper to get into the print apparel game I don't have the space for screen print equipment. I am getting my brand out there with what I have in my pocket no loans no credit. So f*** what they talking about because right now this is what works for me later on maybe I will have the funding for other print styles and the space.
💯 Great video.
I like sublimation on 100% cotton tees, and I can get this on really soft 100% cotton, durable yet breathable, high quality but super affordable tees from a megachain brand like Giordano (I live in Hong Kong) for like 10 USD. (Lots of people who care about "brand identity" would never be caught dead wearing megachain Giordano, both because it's so cheap (which makes them feel they are wearing something worthless and 'common') and because they feel it has exactly -100% identity)
Anyway, I love sublimation because I can easily wear a shirt for over 10 years. I hate flaking. I want to provide sublimation for my customers, but I want my brand to have a really strong identity and be at streetwear prices.
Have you tried poly-whatever sprays to sublimate on 100% cotton tees with your heat press? People swear by it, and this lady does a great video showing it: ua-cam.com/video/gx-js_AJYvE/v-deo.html Would be great to get your feedback.
i personally dont like sublimation on cotton t shirts. i dont feel its 100% dye sublimation. sublimation on polyester looks good but i hate wearing polyester shirts. and i also dont like being limited to light colored shirts to sublimate on. but if it works for you, cool.
@@BigBrandoh Thanks so much for getting back to me (and of course thanks for the videos, you're the best). Yeah, I wanna stick with 100% cotton. Not a fan of poly or blends.
Maybe I'll print white tees with sublimation using spray, and heat press or DTG every other color. (I only wear white tees and black trousers. I'm simple and easily satisfied. I was even thinking to do my entire brand only in white tees, like Henry Ford only made black cars, hahahahhahah)
But I've gotta look into discharge and see if that's any good also.
Since you don't like sub on 100% cotton, if a potential long term customer wanted to order 100% cotton subs from you in bulk you'd still say that's not your thing, right?
@@REXNEMORE i would for sure say no. thats not in my scope of work.
@@BigBrandoh Thanks man. Damn. There goes my chance, hahahahhaha.
BRANDOH got yall too why no one says hey go to this print shop?? because they're not reasonable and they know ur not goin to make BIGG PROFITS.
WORD BIG BRANDOH !!
Facts!💯🔥
Unfortunately that’s the way of the (digital) world. People argue with you for no reason. Keep on truckin' fam.
Thx keep it G
It can be a matter of pros vs cons, not simply prefference. A construction worker will not want a solid piece of material on his shirt. DJ Screw could not make his music digitally, thats a literal impossibility.
so a solid hit of plastisol ink is different on that construction workers shirt? cuz my construction accounts all say heavy plastisol ink printed by a screen printer does not breathe well. hahaaaa So your saying you cant slow the pitch of a song digitally?
@@BigBrandoh plastisol can most certainly breathe better than a transfer, lots of variables. Sweat wont evaporate as easily under a solid piece, & sweat evaporation is what keeps us cool. Thats why those hanes softlink shirts were terrible. If you think all he did was down pitch/slow down his music, you have a lot of learning to do. People dont shoot movies at 24fps for prefference, its because 30fps, 48fps, 60fps all give wildly different looks that are best suited only for specific situations. There are pros & cons to everything. Its not always prefference when you need the end product to come out a specific way. You cant produce brush bristle dots with a marker or pen or pencil. It is impossible.
Anything laser printed is especially limited in how it can look, its not a prefference when what you want surpasses the ability of that technology.
you just described a preference hahahaa a movie CAN be shot at 30fps but prefer to shoot it at 24fps. hahahahaa its a visual preference. hahahahahaaaa Analog and digital, theres a preference. Pros and Cons are both PREFERENCES. whats a pro to you might be a con to someone else hahahaa your whole argument is describing a Preference hahahahahaaaaa come on Josh. you know better than that. you are arguing your preference. 😂😂😂
@@BigBrandoh all movies are shot @24fps.
White plastisol ink screen printed on to a t shirt is alot heavier than white plastisol ink from a transfer. Construction Worker prefer a lighter print that will breathe. this is why my construction accounts all prefer Hot Split plastisol transfers OVER traditional screen printing. because of the weight of that print. its a Preference Josh. They prefer a lighter softer print instead of a heavier thicker print. hahahahaa
C'mon now, everyone knows a 60's Chevy is better than a Tesla!
hahahaa not to some spaceX engineer that lives a ecofriendly life hahahahaaaaa
I fuck with you bro 💯
Yeah, a 29" BMX is not a BMX, change my mind....HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
im doin tail whips over gaps and grinding rails down a 23 stair. im bmx'ing bro hahahahahahaaaaa
I learned absolutely nothing as far as the objective pros and cons.
hahaa rewatch the video i think you missed the point of this video. you run your business how ever you want too. theres no better option. you do what makes sense to you.
@@BigBrandoh that’s not at all what the title suggest this video is about. The title implies you’re talking about which is better not do what works for you.
@@FishForFoodNotSport you should rewatch the video. i think you really missed what the video title is about. where in the title does it say "Pros and Cons"????
@@BigBrandoh it literally says “vs” which literally means against, as apposed to; in contrast to. I think you need to reread your title.
@@FishForFoodNotSport and i talk about both. screen print vs heat transfers. no where in the title does it say "pros and cons" so why did you expect a pros and cons list from this video? reread your original comment, while your at it, rewatch this video again. your still confused on the topic.
vinyl records are better though,,,just sayin. hahahahahahaha
hahahahaaaaaa
