You can only sublimate onto items that have a polyester type coating. However you can purchase dog tags made of aluminum that are coated but not colored.

Thank you, so much, for explaining the difference between the two. I've been looking all over the web trying to figure out how to "sublimate white on black". I had no idea of this concept of heat transfer. I'm a newb.
My goodness, you made a short video into a whole classroom experience. I like others mentioned were scratching my head 🙄 YOU: To the point ✅ Clearly explained ✅ Made sense ✅ No superego ✅ No overselling your product ✅ Great explanation of fabric requirements ✅ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✅
You just got my subscription, Thanks much! I will be using both printing methods along with some embroidery in some instances so i definitely have much to learn RE the do's and don'ts. I now have a clearer understanding of these 2 methods and will be watching this video a few more times.
I use TexPrint XPHP paper and get great results for sublimation. Forever 2 part for the 2 step white toner process which is about a $1USD cost per print
Because of the way sublimation works, you won’t be able to sublimate onto cotton shirts since the ink won’t stick. The most you can do is 60% polyester/40% cotton and even then it will give you a faded vintage look. For printing on 100% cotton, a DTG printer is preferred or you can do heat transfer printing as described in the video.
This video was the most informative I’ve ran across so far! Thanks for not being selfish with details as for others are not giving barely any steps as to grow in your skills. I dislike that people don’t want to see others excel..I SUBSCRIBED AND HIT THE BELL! I want all the details🤩
Very informative video, thank you. I'm liking what see with sublimation as far as image quality and durability. That said, tee shirt quality is extremely important to my brand. Are there high end 100% poly tees out there? Any recommendations? Was originally looking at Bella and Canvas, but I'm not sure they sell 100% poly. LMK.
This is the inofrmation I had been looking for. Now where do you buy the transparent heat transfer paper used in your video. What is the name brand. Thank you.
I've seen heat transfers leave a clearish border around the designs. How can you avoid this with this method? So if your paper is 8x10 but your design is 7 x 9, there's a 1/2" of unused paper and even when you trim the paper, it leaves behind a little bit of the blank paper backing. I'm not sure I'm describing this correctly, but it's a little clear film and makes the garments look cheap.
also, if you’re looking for people facing similar issues but can’t find many or none when googling then it’s safe to say that it could be an isolated case and probably something you’re doing wrong and need to go back and read the manual again etc etc... not saying you’re doing it wrong or anything just adding my 2 cents for future purpose.
Every regular heat transfer leaves white borders because of the paper. You can buy easy weeding paper or you can use laser printers that hace papers that won’t leave the white border. Look it up it’s all over the internet.
If u have a Cricut machine u can insert the paper and the machine will cut off the excess if you don’t have a Cricut I’ve seen people use an exacto knife or something along those lines.
Thank you so much for the video! Quick question: you mentioned that sublimation transfers from a solid, to a gas, and back to a solid. Is the gas considered dangerous to be breathing in? I don't have a workspace with good ventilation unfortunately :(
You won't even know the gas off is happening. Unless you forget to put a piece of butcher paper over the print area, or below the last one. Then you will see the ghosting that will be transferred from that point onward/.

What tips do you recommend for sublimating on cotton tshirts?
Because of the way sublimation works, you won’t be able to sublimate onto cotton shirts since the ink won’t stick. For printing on 100% cotton, a DTG printer is preferred or you can do heat transfer printing as described in the video.
