Outside of DTG, no other method can really compare to the classic screen print imo. I spent 3 grand getting set up with a heat press and supplies, with plans to start a high quality brand, only to find out the hard way that even the best transfers still feel and look cheap when compared to a screen print or DTG. Heat pressing is great for commercial use, when doing low quantity prints for businesses, local sports teams, etc. But if you want to start a brand and sell your clothes at a premium, do not rely on heat pressing alone. No one is trying to spend $40+ for a tshirt that looks like it was made by a crafty Etsy mom.
Hello brother, I have a question for you about your comment ! So If I want the best quality of print for a t-shirt what would you recommend me ? ( I want to print a picture on t-shirts )
Great video! I love both methods personally. Screen printing is way cheaper but more time consuming. Heat transfers from Supacolor are a great alternative for shorter runs and full color. One or two colors are the best for screen printing. That’s just from experience. Thanks for sharing!
So I'm staring out on my own, ditching my supplier, not got the most money but found a decent heat press & transfers, worked out I can do like 40 an hour, thanks so much for this video dude :) hope your well
I have RVCA Shirts that are screen printed that are going on 15 years now and still holding strong. I still have shirts that my dad had made for his business and they are screen printed and are easily 35 years old or more. The cotton is incredibly soft as well. Heat Pressed Shirts with large logos always make me sweat
I will always prefer screen printing. I wish there was a easier way to do it. Having a DTG machine is still on my list to have one day. Heat transfers and vinyl for now lol
It is easy and nice but when it comes to doing a large order you can’t beat a screen print especially when it comes to low color jobs. If your weeding vinyl for each shirt then that’s just wasting up your time. If your doing dtf prints then yeah it’s easy but it doesn’t have the same feel as a screen print would cause a heat press will always just feel like a sticker on the shirt rather then a screen print which is actual ink. They both are great and heat press is a tool in the tool belt at the end of the day
Awesome video man! I know lots of people ask about the difference. Also, rubbing the sides with a damp rag helps out with the press marks. Looking forward to your next video!
Have the same flash. Converted it to IR by calling BBC and ordering a IR panel only. It's only 2 wires and the cost was $175 with shipping. Nice video bro.
@@baavproductions a lot better even heat. I like to build things. Built my own exposure unit. 5 second burns on 156 mesh, drying cabinet with heater and fan and conveyor dryer with a Vevor 20x24 flash for heating element. I'm going to convert that to IR soon.
@@baavproductions thanks man. Kind of what happens when you want to learn screen printing and don't have money for all the fancy equipment. Having 4 kids will do that too you 😂.
Great content!! Could you do a video of printers and possible settings/ pros cons/ why you chose the one your using/ ect? I see a lot of debates on these things.
@@srtdrew1436 Yeah I use the pro 100 printer no special settings or adjustments I do. Only tweak I added was the all black ink system which I have a video up or that you can watch ua-cam.com/video/cUPQijScKKs/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for this vid, you've confirmed my suspicions about the heat press logo feeling stiff and inflexible - like a 'hot sticker' as you put it XD
What about less screens for lower quantity jobs? If you want to start out with screen printing alone will this work? Which is better to start with to sell t-shirts in terms of starting on a budget?
Screen print feels like a rough texture, DTF sometimes feel like a sticker on your shirt, but screen printed transfers are the best!! They feels like a 10x better version of screen printing with soft and smoother texture.
A screen printed transfer is 10 times better than a regular screen print. It’s super soft, and it doesn’t feel very rough and grainy like traditional screen print. So I would recommend screen printed transfers any day.
We’ll screen prints aren’t as rough as you say they are. Screen printing is by far the best way to get garments printed. At the end of the day a screen print transfer is no different than a dtf or any other transfer. It’s not directly being printed on the shirt whereas, screen printing is directing printing on the fabric. Transfers are all held up with adhesives but again it all depends on your needs
HTV will outlast screen prints. Screen print ink cracks over time, HTV is practically waterproof. each has their pros and cons especially when it comes to time and money
Anyone know any good screen printing companies or people that single orders like I’m not a store or a resale shop that needs bulk orders of 20+ shirts just to get screen printed shirts there for personal use for myself to wear inane a good 4-6 shirts that I need screen printed all different designs and colors
You eant to sale your screen printing equipment? Screen printing is better because it last longer, customer will eant thier money back because of the quality.great video
Great video my dude! Screen printing looks the best to me, but that work though FOR REALS! Where do you get your heat transfers? Is that a DTF transfer? I'm fixing to delve into the DTF world next.

Plastisol

Absolutely, the heat press version in this video is basically a DTF print🤘🏽
