The comment is a bit old but I just happened to have played the remake recently and Bowser's vocal changes are seemingly random. There are plenty of conversations where Bowser has multiple "voices" throughout them. Multiple times in the intro area will Bowser swap "voices." Not a deal breaker for me but it is noticable and a bit distracting.
Folks who have played all of the Mario RPGs understand that some parts of Bowser, are a facade he puts on, to seem a specific way. Losing your memory would pull the curtain back on that, and could potentially change your voice, pitch, mannerism, etc. considering Bower’s RPG personality.
Yeah, it stayed that way until Dream Team and onwards, where they tweaked the promo-art style a bit by: • making the shadows lighter • having the M & L emblems on their hats be the usual red-and-green instead of black • changing the shade of green on Luigi's clothes from a teal-ish color to to be more like other Mario games (and generally changing the color pallete to be more so aswell) • removing his socks • adding a different "texture" to the artwork for each game, which is cool and gives each game a more unique identity...which would make more sense if they wouldn't just reuse DT's sprites at the same time
HG/SS didn't feature exact replicas of music from G/S/C, they were only soundalike 8-bit chiptunes .In this remake, they actually are exact replicas from the original GBA version.
@@AGZhark I was watching this video. I was referring to the fact that in Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, an item that allowed music similar to the original tunes used in Gold, Silver and Crystal would play instead of the music that normally plays in each area. What I'm saying is that other remakes should use this idea and allow the option for the OST of the original game to be used instead of the remake's OST. That would solve the issue he stated about the generic battle music in this game not sounding right compared to Superstar Saga's battle music.
Ωmega Oh. I was wondering because I know there’s a glitch where I can comment on one video, and it’ll show up on another as well. I was also listening to an OST of HeartGold and SoulSliver and assumed something else
You forgot to mention that since we can't switch the bros' positioning at will anymore, the funny little animations that played when you used the hand or hammer on the front bro before getting the special overworld abilities (e.g. mini mario, fire dash) in the original no longer exist in the remake
That is one thing about the remake. I hated why nintendo did this. I could only assume that nintendo thought players were irritated by the switching between attacks a lot on the overworld, but having luigi in the front was awesome because superstar saga was the only game in the series were you can have luigi in the front in future game they removed that for some reason I don't if anyone knows let me know.
Oh no.. now you can't do a funny little easter egg/unique interaction like the og can.. Such a bummer, this removal was so game changing and is such a letdown...
@QP_lite One charming animation being dropped wouldn't be a big deal, trouble is the remakes did this *constantly* to cut corners, occasionally to outright bizarre degrees. Look at the level up screens in BIS and compare them to the remake, in the remake, the characters are just straight up not animated as you're selecting the bonus despite them plainly reusing poses from previous games' animations. AlphaDream was not doing well at the time and it showed in them no longer valuing fun details like that.
Regarding the old vs new sprite issue, my main problem with the 3DS sprites is I liked the black outline on sprites in the first three games. It made them pop, whereas in the 3DS games I feel like the characters blend into the background too much.
Wouldn't that also be said with every sprite-based game that doesn't use black outlines? The Mega Man Zero games are considered to look good and they do not use outlines.
Yeah, the difference between the sprite work (not just of the characters, but also the entirety of both version’ visuals) is why I think in this review, ExoParadigmGamer gave the remake of Superstar Saga a bit too much credit compared to the Game Boy Advance version by sometimes comparing the 3DS version (of the main game, at least) positively to the original to make it sound better when in actuality, it (M&LSS + BM) just trying to fix what was never broken (the incredibly underrated GBA version).
I've completed Bowser's Minions and grinded Captain Shy Guy to level 99. He was strong enough to take on the final boss solo. That just shows how much stats and grinding matters in that gamemode lol.
Danny Hargreaves He meant that he thought the captains we play as would end up becoming the Elite Trio but that was not the case because we already see the Elite Trio.
@@CowboyJoseph64 I hadn't progressed the story at all when I had this thought. The only Captain I knew was Captain Goomba, so there very easily could have been just a Koopa and a Shy Guy down the line for all I knew.
I think I know why this was done... Spoilers bowser inside story Maybe because they betrayed bowser in bowser's inside story (they regretted it at the end of the game)
A few more things you missed: - The Japanese version of the GBA game had some of the revisions that carried onto the 3DS version since it was released after the American version, namely the heart blocks (although they were much rarer in the GBA version) and the Fawful boss battle using Cackletta's theme - There's a fun easter egg that where if you try to do a high jump while Mario is in mini form and have Mario jump before Luigi lands, you can punch Luigi's family jewels for coins. In the original GBA release, Luigi loses 1hp for every coin, 2hp in the Japanese GBA version, and 4hp in the 3DS version
ZonalJump Holy shit, really? I thought that guy saying that you should be careful to not hit the important parts of the tall one was just a random dick joke. I must try it this instant!
Correction: (Spoliers!) Cackletta's Soul doesn't attack as many times as she feels like, she gets 1 attack for every limb she has alive, including her head.
This might just be me, but it always feels like the Mario & Luigi series is kind of overlooked. I don't see a whole lot of people give exposure to them, which kind of disappoints me because I think these games are great (from what I've played of SS, PiT, and DT anyways). So, it's always nice to see someone give light to them. Also, I 100% agree with you on how you don't understand why more than some people dislike the visuals in the 3DS games. To me, they always looked great (especially Dream Team). I mean, I can kind of see where they are coming from, but I don't think it's entirely deserved. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to what you do in the future. (Maybe we can expect a review of that one super divisive M&L game, maybe?) EDIT: I didn't mind the lack of facecam segments in this review, nor did I mind the facecam segments in previous reviews. They never really detracted from the experience, but not having them didn't really detract from the experience either.
Caleb SM64 it’s because many have turned their backs on the series after Nintendo confirmed they see no reason to make Paper Mario RPGS if they have Mario & Luigi
And even in the Mario and Luigi fanbase, I hate how many people ignore PiT. Sure, it certainly wasn't the best in terms of progression, but it's still a great game nonetheless and has a TONNE of charm, sometimes moreso than the 1st and 4th game.
@@thebravegallade731 I don't see how PiT needs dual screens. Nothing against the game it just doesn't really need dual screens. Now in BiS, that game uses them all the time.
@@bupboi627 pit does use dual screens for the bros attacks, but I guess you could zoom it out or something. I really hope they would do that and remake the game for switch.
Great review, thanks. :) I got one more thing thats different in the remake: Did you notice that the brothers can hold their hammers infinitely to counterattack? In the original you can't just hold the button, they would lose the hammers and the counter has failed. Hope i didn't overhear in the video. ^^'
I found juniors journey really was made easier and just had better giant Bowser cutscenes. I mean I haven't finished juniors journey but I've played enough
+Matthew Quinn Would you have enjoyed it more if instead of Bowser's Minions 2.0 they'd made PiT as a full remake as well? BiS and PiT would've been amazing on the same cart.
The graphics are amazing i have to agree, bit everything else is just better. Take for the example the bros move in the overworld: they were so hard to use in the original as you had to change the bros order and press the button until you find the one you need, which made sections like teehee valley really frustrating whereas in the remake they are far more enjoyable just for that
Just thought I'd mention that Lost Odyssey came out in 2007 and not 1995. That's what I get for trying to save time by copy pasting instead of writing each attribution line from scratch. Normally I'd rerender and reupload, but Vegas really didn't want to render this video for some reason. I had to do all sorts of things just to get it not to hang. So in the end I decided the small attribution error wasn't worth the hassle of delaying this for another day. Anyways, this video has been a long time coming, so enjoy!
ExoParadigmGamer. You considering doing a Remake or Rebreak on Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden? How would you feel about a Diddy Kong Racing sequel that added characters from My Hero Academia, Little Witch Academia, Kirby, The Amazing World of Gumball, Persona 5, Family Guy, and RWBY with Haruko from FLCL, Popuko and Pipmi from Pop Team Epic, Bomberman, Beavis and Butthead also being there?
I agreed and really enjoyed with your viewpoints with one major difference and one minor difference. I found the Bowser's Minions mini game to be more of a meh than a let down. And as for the major difference, I am WAY more into the gameplay of the GBA version and its way of navigating the movesets. My issue with the 3DS version is that it's navigation requires a massive amount of time and concentration. You can only either have the map up on the screen, or the moveset selection. Which would make it easier to use the L and R buttons, especially as a veteran of the game who used L and R in the previous version. The problem there is, it's not that simple. In the original, all you had was 3 distinct symbols for each character. Hand, hammer, and jump, with the exception of the special jump for those in the back. This is a much simpler system that doesn't force you to move back and forth between various screens and allows more concise and quicker changes to what you need to use at the time. Plus, in the original, I really enjoyed being able to have Luigi in front.
I actually liked minions quest despite all flaws. Despite captain goomba and his crew looking generic, they do have pretty good personalities. Hopping to see them back on bowser's jr. Journey. Tho honestly, the 1 thing the remake dissapointed me was not having a boss rush mode with dx bosses. Other than that, I like both versions. Is pretty hard for me to decide, but I will say the 3ds does have more advantages at the end.
Captain Goomba and the other captains do return in Bowser Jr's Journey, though they play minor roles. The story mostly focuses on Bowser Jr and his quest to find a cure for the Blorbs, while strengthening his relationship with the Koopalings.
I really don't care for the version of Come On in Bowser's Minions. The original will always be my favorite, but when I hear Paper Jam's I usually end up jamming out to it.
“More recent Mario RPGs have failed to stack up in terms of plot” If you mean Paper Jam, you’re right, but if you’re talking about Dream Team, you’re wrong.
IMO, Dream Team had a great idea for a story, but then blew all of that potential in favor of making Bowser the main villain and completely threw Antasma, a charismatic original villain with a history relating to the island and its people who (unlike Bowser) could not work in any other story, under the bus in the process. That honestly pisses me off more than any amount of trying to not be original that Paper Jam pulled. At least that game wasn’t waving a cool villain and an interesting lore in front of my face just to go „Screw you, here’s Bowser.“
Rainpooper - I see your point. But like how I think of Uncharted 3 having a better story, there is a lot of humour that I find legitimately funny. Like the initial meetup between the two. At one point, Bowser says “Blech, say it don’t spray it, dingbat!” I always enjoy character interactions slightly more than a complex story. But that’s just me.
I still cannot understand how things completely flopped... between dream team and paper jam... it went from God's gift from above to Gods confusion in just 1 game! Paper jam lacked story so much! (Hey but it did have amazing gameplay elements! The fighting was fun (easy) and it was extremely satisfying perfecting all trio and bros attacks.. but no good story :( it was ok i guess) But dream team had balanced gameplay but a story that would dismantle the devil himself!
I do wish that the Nintendo cameos intended for the café were in the remake. Characters like Samus, Olimar, and Wario would appear when you make a new brew and comment on it.
I mean, minions could've been improved significantly by making 4 changes: 1. Remove leveling 2. Add colored outlines to the minions showing which ones were on which side. 3. Move the gameplay to the bottom screen and put something like health bars or something on the top. 4. Allow you to tap any friendly minion and drag a line to essentially tell it what to attack and double tap enemies to command all minions to focus that enemy. Boom there's the strategy portion. That's it. Those humps where you normally had to grind? Now they're difficulty spikes. Boom.
I think removing leveling is a bit much. It's already so shallow, removing that would make it a literal crapshoot, or way too easy if we include the suggested targeting system. I say keep the leveling, but have a thing where units can gain EXP in the background while you play other missions, play the main game, or even have the system off, almost like the Dojos in Smash Ultimate World of Light.
Thank you for noticing the Elite Trio’s sprites messing with the timeline. While I love their inclusion in Bowser’s minions this really bugged me, but I saw no one else pointing it out. This goes to show how much of a fan you are of the series. Once again thanks!
Cackletta's Ghost was so hard that I quit the game for several years before I came back to it and finally beat it. To learn that she's even harder now is quite frankly frightening.
I was a dumb kid and I still managed to eventually beat Cackletta with extremely scuffed character builds, because I didn't fully understand the clothing/badge/stat system. It's all about timing your evasions/counter attacks properly. Guarantee if you played it again you'd find it much MUCH easier than you remember
Kind of late but ppl overexaggerate how hard Cackletta is on the 3DS. Yes, they buffed the health (but so did they with every other enemy due to new attacks like double jump that deal more damage) but she is still easy, your only problem would be that if you haven't grinded a few levels you will be fighting her for quite some time. Other than that, she was a pretty fun boss once you learn her attacks. GBA Cackletta is easy only if you a) grinded your ass b) Use broken builds (Mush badge with Advanced Bros. Attacks)
i didnt like not having a place to heal in the areas. I dont like healing only with items as a RPG mechanic. I prefer the clasic savepoint where you can heal in between the areas. Maybe its easy and im being a crybaby, but i like difficulty in the battles, not anywhere else.
"I dont like healing only with items as a RPG mechanic" So you don't like one of the oldest, most classic and vital elements of what makes an RPG... Maybe you should try other genres, like... board games.
I'm glad to hear someone agrees with me that Dream Team has an incredible soundtrack! Seriously, it was the only game in the series that encouraged me to stop for a moment just to listen to the awesome music! Also, I'm not bothered by the 3D artstyle of the 3DS entries either, nor do I understand why its such a big deal to so many people when the distinct art direction the series has had in the past is still pretty much intact. And with Bowser's Inside Story also getting a remake on the 3DS next year, hopefully Nintendo will see it as an opportunity to remake the original Paper Mario in HD on the Switch. Just as long as they make it more like a pop up book instead of a paper craft cutout, since the Japanese name for it is literally Mario Story!
I'm not the biggest fan of Dream Team as an whole. But I do agree that the soundtrack in Dream Team is top notch and it's my favorite out of the Mario & Luigi games. I love every Mario & Luigi games soundtrack. But Dream Team takes the cake.
My main issue with Bowser's Minions is that, out of all the ways the game could've improved, I think the extra content introduced in Bowser's Inside Story would've been a huge improvement to extend this game's post-ending content. A Boss Rush mode, for those looking to rechallenge bosses with new attack patterns or increased stats, and a minigame center, where you could be able to re-play every single minigame without having to backtrack to that specific location to play it, the biggest offender being Wrinkle Academy, where the only way to replay that one is to traverse a long way through Chucklehuck Woods. Implementing these two in the Little Fungitown Minigame Hub would've been truly easy. My other problem comes in what I'd define as "charm factor", though that is extremely subjective. I liked back then where Toads would get distinctive designs to further differentiate each other out. With the generic designs, I can't help but sigh at places I once loved to visit due to the extravagant designs of some original Toads. All in all, great review, Exo.
He drags on multiple times that traditional or mainstream rpgs are inferior, which they aren't by any stretch of the imagination and completely irrelevant to the review.
I gotta say, the sound design and cartoon shenanigans are overall better in the original. The overuse of 'shock' effect lines, muted sound effects as not to trample over the music which is as a result a little more obnoxious and loud than need be, not to mention some of the character's toony actions just don't translate as well. The yoshi fanatic is a good example. His egg throw doesn't have the same oomph it did in the original, it's slower and has less of a visual impact as a result. (Admittedly however Jokes End does sound better. Really anything would sound better than it was originally.)
Holy cow! The next episode will actually be a game I know! I'm quite excited! IMO the GBA versions are far superior to the originals, mainly because of the lack of glitches, the INCREDIBLE spritework, and having a nice balance of modern conveniences without all the stupid beauty contest fluff from later games. The only area I prefer the GB ones is in the sound department.
Every time you release a new video it feels like it's been years since the last one , not that I'm complaining though, it is always great to watch a new vid from you Exo.
It can mean A:a chest of drawers or B:an office or department for transacting particular business. An example is the federal bureau of investigation, or FBI. though this guy's comment got autocorrected to hell so we have no idea what word was supposed to be there instead of bureau.
I've made a whole series of "fixes" to some of the more homogenized (or even outright missing) sprites from the remake on my DeviantArt page. Stuff like giving the Koopas back their pilot outfits, drawing what Geno's cameo might've looked like, bringing back the removed Mecha-Chomp enemy, and many more. Just Look up "Geno's Cameo 3DS Style" and you should find my channel. There are quite a few changes that just felt lazy or outright baffling, so instead of complaining about it, I decided to make my own sprites.
How is it a mistranslation in SS then? Kamek is technically the correctly translated term, it’s just ambiguous whether it’s THE Kamek or just a random one when the term is used, though I never thought Psycho Kamek was THE Kamek. I think it’s better when you can distinguish the character we know as Kamek from the entire species though. Magikoopa is a pretty direct translation of the Japanese name anyway which consists of the words turtle and magic.
Rainpooper Magikoopa is the species. Psycho Kamek should’ve been called Psycho Magikoopa as Kamek is exclusively used for the recurring character and not the species in the English translations.
Yeah the Remake was good, but I'm sure you could'nt replace Superstar Saga, even if you would try harder then Nintendo... It's just one of the best games ever created.
Monty De Santa I understand were you are coming from but i did not play this game as a kid i played it in my teenage years when i was in to emulators but then i finaly bought the remake and loved it it was only a few years after when I bought a Wii U and was so into the Virtual Console that I bought Superstar Saga on my Wii U and it was pretty good but I will say that Bowser's Minions is actually pretty good and I do think that this game deserved replace if more effort was put into it I agree with you EXO that minion Quest was such a disappointment but I really do love the story behind minion Quest and what Bowser and his minions were doing during the entire events of Superstar Saga and how fawful had prototype robots from Bowser's Inside Story in this game.
@@obedmurillo462 Battles are too slow paced in the remake because each individual move takes longer. This becomes a huge problem when you're in areas where you're battling the same configuration of enemies over and over again. Battles in the original Super Star Saga just had this incredible flow that isn't present in any other Mario RPG. Also Bros Attacks don't feel as satisfying because of this. The fact that some Bros Attacks were hard to figure out is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing like the guy in this video seems to think. It gave the game a sense of discover, and was very likely an intentional design choice.
One addition I find interesting is that the 3DS version has a block button by holding X. I played the 3DS version challenging myself by not dodging/countering enemy attack and it turns out that it can get really difficult enduring half damage and potential get hit with a secondary effect like tripping, poison and so on. It really puts your HP & Defense stat to the test against bosses and their new rage form.
As a big fan of the M&L Saga, I always loved the Superstar Saga, and when I heard they remade it for 3DS, I felt pure and sheer glee (plus confusion as how I let this game pass under my radar) and after buying it.... I absolutely loved it. They remade the game to every single detail, remastered every design, reorchestrated every soundtrack, it just felt like I was a child again playing in my brand new GBA. Something I like about the japanese is their use of nostalgia to increase our approval to a game related to our childhood like Pokemon or Kingdom Hearts (Pokemon ORAS also had me all giggly with the nostalgia). I always found the M&L franchise with great replayability and Superstar saga was never an exception, having this new 3DS version jjust made it better.
While I do love the elite trio, in fact, they're mY favorite characters in the whole series, Captain Goomba ended up being a way better character, due to him being a blank slate and open for whatever they wanted. The ending especially, Captain Goomba makes me smile in the same stupid way I smile whenever Luigi is confident in himself in dream team. This opens my concerns for Bowser Jr's journey, though.
33:01 That's not a two. I know, ... but still. A damn fine review as always, Exo. I've always been a Paper Mario fan, but before watching this video, I knew next to nothing about the Mario and Luigi series. Now, I might just have to track down a copy and give it a shot. As for the on-camera segments, I dunno. I always kinda liked them, despite how hokey they often were, but I don't think I'd be too upset to see them go.
The first 4 are all great. Bowser's Inside Story is my personal favourite. Avoid Paper Jam, though... It's like Nintendo thinks they didn't violate Paper Mario enough with Sticker Star and Colour Splash.
Well, this was another great analysis as always. My only real gripe with the remake is that they replaced the mecha-chomps as I really wanted to see those enemies in 3D. Anyway, I think I requested this once before, but I'll request is again: Final Fantasy Adventure/Rise of Mana vs. Sword of Mana. I still feel like the latter deserves more respect than it gets.
I agree i never played the entire mode i just played until Chucklehukwoods and them gave up and went back to Superstar Saga. But i will say the story is very interesting because of some changes 3 prototype Mechawfuls were always here from the beginning. 2 Bowser Jr is here for some reason 1 Fawful was always a Independent Villain the whole time and planed to overthrow Cackletta
@@Robotvike1996 ...the shroom poisoning Mario wasn't planted by fawful (Just like in BiS) but the work of the Gumba Crew giving the wrong shroom to the novice delivery toad
To be honest, as somebody who plays Strategy RPG’s as my favorite genre, I’d have to disagree with your statement. Specifically that being, at least in my opinion, direct control of the main units in a strategy game isn’t necessarily a vital aspect to the genre. There is some fun to be had in having autonomous aspects to a strategy game. One such example that comes to mind is the Xenoblade series of games, in which you only have control of one party member in a party of 3 or 4 depending on the game, where during battle, the other party members are completely autonomous. While it can be frustrating at times, there’s a part of me that likes adjusting the settings of each of my party members to suit a new situation, so that they display new behaviors and do what I need them too. They’re autonomous, but there’s still an element of strategy, and I think that was the kind of thing that Bowser’s Minions was going for. That said, I’m not saying that Bowser’s Minions ( the minion campaign I mean ) was really a good game. I wouldn’t describe it as “garbage” necessarily, it was just... _really_ boring. I could see what they were going for, but it just felt like I was doing the same thing constantly, and just... watching things happen instead of actually doing anything. At least in Xenoblade you’re in direct control of a single party member, and can issue tactics to your allies. Here you just kinda... watch, and watch again, and watch again, and again, and again, occasionally some plot stuff happens, and then more watching happens.
You should try final fantasy 12, it's a game where you can control your party manually as well as completely program your AI to do whatever you want in any situation down to the exact priorities you want in situations, for example if an enemy is weak to fire, use fire, but priority says use heal on ally if at low health. you can essentially walk into a fight and watch everything play out with decisions that you made before the fight started, or you can be a speed menu berserker and play the game normally in ATB format.
Outstanding video! (Actually I'm typing as I watch) In terms of the camera segments I do prefer them since I feel you are talking to us the viewer in a personal way as opposed to hiding behind a camera. I also love love your in-depth videos! I tend to watch these on my tv opposed to my phone due to its informative documentary-esk format.
I noticed that in the original GBA version of Superstar Saga, there are a specific set of badges (by name) that don't appear in Bowser's minions for good reasons. These badges were known as "Mush Badge", "Mash Badge A", and "Mush Badge AA" these were available in the original's version of Little Fungitown at a shop. these were replaced with completely new equipment in the remake. These "Mush Badges" were taken out most likely because of how much they broke the original's difficulty and made things too easy. These badges would power up an equipped bro's POW stat by a certain amount depending on how many consumable items that you have in your inventory that had the word "mushroom" in their names. Mush Badge AAs in particular had the potential to destroy bosses, even Cackletta's soul and you were able to equip these to BOTH bros. That's just a minor thing that I noticed when comparing the two versions.
You got something wrong about strategy games. You don't exactly need to have total control on all characters. But that depends the game rules. in Dungeon Keeper you got total control on your base building but barely any input in how the units act. In Total War games you don't control units of one. you control entire batallions.
It seem Yoko took a more electronic approach with the battle arrangements in Paper Jam and Bowser's Minions, but personally my main gripe is the reduced bass in the arrangements. Seriously those boom booms were great.
Great work on the ROR, dude. I can tell a lot of time was spent on this. Just seeing all the good additions to SS makes me outright dumbfounded that Partners In Time was skipped in favor of the yet to be released Bowser's Inside Story remake. I love BIS, but PIT deserves one too. As for the live action vs. audio intros, I personally prefer live action segments. But because they're so short, it's not the end of the world if you ditch them given how most of your reviews are mostly audio anyways.
Partners In Time, as unpopular of an opinion as this may be, is my favorite Mario & Luigi game, and I was very bummed out to see it get skipped by Nintendo. If I had to guess, it was either because of it being seen as the black sheep of the series, or maybe the slightly darker plot elements. If it's the former, then I've lost even more respect for Nintendo, which I didn't think was possible. But I think Partners In Time, as it stands now, has aged very well, just like all of the Mario & Luigi games, so it's not the end of the world.
Oh great, another Bowser's Inside Story predecessor hater. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time deserves so much more praise than it gets while The Software Toolworks video games are hands down not as good as they are made out to be, especially Mario's Early Years.
+Kieran Stark In what plane of existence does my comment imply I hate PIT? I actually like it more than Superstar Saga and Paper Jam, believe it or not. Thinking it deserves a remake does not mean i hate it. I just want to see it with the revamped art style and updated mechanics. That's all.
I know about the 3. You don't have to tell me about it. A lot of people have already pointed it out to me, lol. When you copy a text clip in Vegas, you can either create another instance of that same clip, or use it as a basis for a new text clip. The latter is how I made all the numbers to save time. However, I must have chosen a second instance on the 2 file, which means when I changed the 2 to a 3, it changed the original I copied from a 2 to a 3 as well. As for why I didn't notice it during my test render I use to pick out errors like this, I couldn't tell you. Anyways, there's nothing I can do about it short of reuploading the video and losing all my views, so you'll have to live with there being two 3's in the speed round.
Honestly just accept the mistake. I think it was funny as fuck cuz its just thrown in there. "TWO!" *clearly a 3* rofl btw im a big fan of all your random gags you throw into vids. Thought the 3 was one of them
Concerning the remake of this game, I like the PAL box art more than the American one because it's more faithful to the original, instead of the reoccurring generic cover art they keep using since Bowser's Inside Story. By the way, you should totally do a remake or rebreak episode on that too, now that the 3DS remake is finally here!
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is my favourite Mario RPG, but I haven't yet played its 3DS remake, I always felt that game didn't need to be remade, because the original has aged like a fine wine, and frankly, I think anyone who can appreciate a Mario RPG can go back to that one and fully appreciate it as is, however I'm glad to see that the remake did the original justice, and while I'd classify those improvements as minor, I'll still welcome them! I'll pick it up eventually, I've only got so much cash to go around...
You should, it improves on a lot of things and is beginner friendly without being outright insulting (option to replay Boss fight on easy mode If you fail, save anywhere you want, Bros attacks having a easier alternative mode for the cost of costing more BP)
In Regard to your Comment about the Original Superstar Saga being moderately challenging:I think that applies only if you decide not to wear certain gear. The Mush Badges and Great Force Snap the Game in Half, and allow you to become a God basically since you hit so ridiculous hard. With the final Mush Badge and Great Force on Mario,I two shot Cackletta Soul with it and I wasnt overleveled Cackletta Moves has so many turns due to her insane speed stat. If you want to have the first turn against her in the battle, one of the bros needs a 120 in there speed stat to outspeed them
Y’know, I always gave Mario the pants that guarantees he acts first, then gave Luigi (I think they’re called…) Scandal Pants, which let him act before Mario. Always seemed to work for me, even if it surely cost me a lot of defense.
I feel that the lack of cartoony sound effects has to do with the 3DS's lack of GBA compatibility, meaning no further compatibility with the original GB soundchip. Many of the GBA sound effects clearly come from the original soundchip, and they just feel more fitting on a GBA. With a PSG, you can really customise the sounds a lot more than when using samples like on the 3DS. And I assume they didn't want to just sample the original PSG, so they had to find or create generic sounding samples.
'lack of GBA compatibility' But what about the Music Player? It plays the GBA's music, note by note. I'm assuming you meant the lack of GBA Game compatibility.
I can honestly say that the main reason why I enjoy your videos is because of your opinion on them and how you stress that other's opinions are just as welcome as your own. This is also added onto the fact that I actually learn a few things here and there that I noticed but couldn't describe like dithering or just general nuances that I ignored. So, thanks! Keep forward with your content!
While i played dream team first i also played superstar saga gba and i prefer the 3d but i noticed that marios clothes colors dont look as red as before. Also i saw a lot of videos from the series before i saw dream team.
@@sfans4655 Hey that's fine, man. We all have got different tastes. I just find the old sprites, as archaic as they seem, riveting with personality that accentuates the game's amazing humour. Sadly, I think the characters' 3D models, particularily the bros, do not have the same charm. Just remembering the numerous silly faces both Mario and Luigi can make in the GBA original makes me chuckle.
The 3DS sprites remind me too much of Mario RPG and I think the sprites in that game look really ugly. Everything seems to blend into the background, because of the lack of outlines.
17:00 i have to disagree with you here. Having played both dream team and supoerstar saga on my 2ds, i can tell you its not anti aliasing what the character sprites have. Its the sprites being upscaled with bilinear filter that makes them slightly bigger but blurry. That is really noticcable since all the edges are crisp as a result of not having anti aliasing but mario and luigi look blury. I had hope that since the superstar saga remake would be 2d, there wouldnt be a need to upscale the 2d sprites and therefore no more ugly blur but they missed the opportunity...
Really glad to see you back again, Exio! :D And this was yet another fantastic ROR episode! And yeah, as you've said in the description, it's about time! ;) I think other things I've noticed about Bowser's Minions compared to Superstar Saga was that BM still only has 2 save files, instead of 3 like the original game, which has been the case since Partners In Time (I've never understood why the series since PIT was reduced to only 2 save files as opposed to 3 like in SS), even though you can still have Luigi be upfront like in SS, you can't unfortunately have him drink water, and have him spit it back out, again, like in the original, instead, it just automatically switches to Mario, I'm surprised there aren't any voice variations in Bowser's Minions either like in SS, there was a robotic voice, and a monster-like voice, but, I find it so strange that the GBA version had more voice variations than a on a superior system... And I do honestly agree with you about the Bowser's Minions mode as well being an incredibly, tedious, boring, frustrating disappointment, I had to keep leveling up my minions just so I'd have a bigger chance on taking down Morton, and, I finally did it... I am still gonna try to bet the rest of BM, though. Regardless, I do prefer BM over SS overall! :) Can't wait for the next ROR episode! Keep up the fantastic work!
The GBA version had such amazingly crunchy and popping sound effects. I agree it was awesome, the 3ds version just sounds way too soft, it takes out a lot of the personality
@Pedro Gonzales HOW COULD YOU HARASS ME LIKE THIS?! WHY ARE YOU A FAN OF IRATEGAMER, BETTERSKATEZ, PIMPINMASTERDX AND THE RFAA????!!!! Either that or I forgot that Gligar13Vids got more sane and original in recent years...
Seeing as Dream Team is my favorite of the subseries, I appreciated the praise to its graphics. I’m a big M&L fan, really, hope to see the other games get reviewed. Maybe BiS will get a Reprise?
You know one thing they should have removed? THE FACT YOU STILL HAVE TO FIGHT THAT PIHRANNA WITH ONLY LUIGI AND MESS UP THE EXP BAAAAAAAAA- No joke, that really triggered me.
Another great review Exo, so happy when these come out. By the way, if you want another good strategy game to play, I recommend Steamworld Heist. It's a 2D tactics game with a side on perspective were you play as a crew of of steam powered robot pirates. You need to worry about potentially destructible cover. Manually aiming your guns to either stun, immobilize, or critical hit. Each character has their own quirks that affect strategy, as well as their personality. The whole game has a fleshed out world full with quirky characters and locals. Also, the soundtrack is amazing and composed by real world Steampunk rock group: Steam Powered Giraffe (who also make cameos in the game) Highly recommend it!
I think the voiceover only setup feels a lot more professional. A lot of people include video segments when they don't know what else to put, and I think that if you want to make your videos feel better-produced, either go with voiceover, or do something interesting with the video segments, like a layout or something. There's a lot you can take advantage of with being physically present on screen (sight gags, visual demonstrations, etc.)
This is an excellent and comprehensive comparison between one of my favourite games of all time. Quite a lot in the quick list too here that I didn’t pick up on. Keep up the good work.
Bro you made my heart so happy when you said Lost Odyssey in the beginning. This video was amazing, but I would've been a dedicated fan forever from that remark alone. Thats my favorite game of all time haha
While I love remakes of old RPGS(The 2D PSP FF games are AMAZING examples of a well done remake), and I think the graphics are good, I can see why people say they are less "Expressive". They don't seem to "pop" quite as a much as in the GBA version, where everything does look sharper with the art style and hardware.
I actually beat Minions, I had fun while doing so but there definitely were annyoing parts due to grinding a bit. However, after you beat it you get a few new challenges where I believe you need to be Lv50 and I was at Lv30 when I beat the game iirc so you need to grind A LOT if you want to 100% this, which isn't exactly good...
I grinded Captain Shy Guy to level 99 and he was strong enough to take on the final boss by himself. That just shows how much grinding matters in that game mode which isn't a good thing.
I can understand some complaints about Oot cutscenes being bland, but remember this was 1998 on the N64. I think it’s a least bit unfair to compare to modern standards, and at least to me, the game has many ambitious and cinematic moments (like Bongo Bongo attacking Kakariko, Epona jumping over the gorge and the Ganondorf encounter). Are they perfect? No, but you can say games like FFVII and Metal Gear Solid, phenomenal games from the same time, have stiff cutscenes. It can’t be helped, that was what was possible at the time and I think it’s disingenuous to paint that as a legitamemt complaint. That’s just me. P.S; before anyone claims I only like it because of nostalgia, I only first played Oot in 2014, and not the 3ds remake, and still had a fantastic time myself.
Pedro Gonzales I know, I was more responding to his comments on Oot in this video. It probably be a better idea to have commented on his Oot video proper. Oh well.
Cinematography and playwriting have existed for centuries. Programming a camera and character movement in a non-controllable cutscene has always been fairly easy, so they had no excuse, ...but comparing it to Game Boy Advance 2D animation was unfair as that was less of a technological hurdle. The problem is that the directors of those early 3D games needed to work smarter, not harder: they had a tight situation and they blew it by not putting much thought into storyboarding. You can make amazing scenes under tight restrictions if you know what you're doing. I refuse to give Ocarina of Time a pass. The idea that it's some perfect game is baloney.
I think the Bowser's Minions side-game is actually in the auto-battler genre. Like Super Auto Pets for example. Maybe EPG's expectations were for a strategy game with all the trappings that involves, but it's actually an auto-battler instead, setting EPG up for frustration and boredom. That aside, I really appreciate the sections of the video comparing the original and remake! I've been looking for something like this to show folks when the inevitable discussion comes up of the differences between the two.
The battle theme goes harder in the GBA version mainly because of the louder bass and percussion, but the remake makes up for it by extending the song and adding another section to it.
Great video! This was my first ever RPG, so it's great to see that it got a remake. Not to nitpick, but you displayed "3" twice when listing random changes at 33:00. :)
one of my gripes with this is that it uses the exact same sprite artstyle that's been in use since dream team. before dream team, every mario & luigi game had a different sprite style, so the fact that its now just the same style over and over again is super disappointing
17:00 ok, this part really bothers me for one reason You make it seem only people who haven't played the games but seen them have a problem However this isn't true, some people can play the games and dislike the art style, even though once on the intended screen it looks better, people can still have a problem with it
One thing I didn't like was the changing of enemies to look more like traditional Mushroom Kingdom enemies. Like changing the Pilot Koopas into normal Koopas, or changing the boomerang bros to look more normal. Or the Troopeas to look like normal Koopas. This is a minor nitpick, but to me it kind of helped sell me on the Bean Bean kingdom being a seperate country. Overall I think the Remake does more good than bad, but I still prefer the original.
The bowser change makes A LOT of sense, since he was technically another character after losing his memory
Yeah, but his voice when brainwashed sounds similar to his actual voice, while his default voice ironically doesn't.
Losing your memory doesn't change your vocal chords
The comment is a bit old but I just happened to have played the remake recently and Bowser's vocal changes are seemingly random. There are plenty of conversations where Bowser has multiple "voices" throughout them. Multiple times in the intro area will Bowser swap "voices." Not a deal breaker for me but it is noticable and a bit distracting.
@@ifoundthespacebar6609 Dude he gets possessed by a ghost, who cares about science lmao
Folks who have played all of the Mario RPGs understand that some parts of Bowser, are a facade he puts on, to seem a specific way. Losing your memory would pull the curtain back on that, and could potentially change your voice, pitch, mannerism, etc. considering Bower’s RPG personality.
I just noticed Luigi's striped socks on the GBA boxart.
I wish they brought that aspect back
We are going to see them in Bowser's Inside Story's Intro, since Luigi doesn't wear shoes.
Nitro Indigo
Didn’t he have them in BIS too? He lost a shoe in the intro.
Yeah, it stayed that way until Dream Team and onwards, where they tweaked the promo-art style a bit by:
• making the shadows lighter
• having the M & L emblems on their hats be the usual red-and-green instead of black
• changing the shade of green on Luigi's clothes from a teal-ish color to to be more like other Mario games (and generally changing the color pallete to be more so aswell)
• removing his socks
• adding a different "texture" to the artwork for each game, which is cool and gives each game a more unique identity...which would make more sense if they wouldn't just reuse DT's sprites at the same time
"Mostly illiterate at age six" you give we millenials a bad name.
You know, I think the GB sound item from HGSS was genius, and should have benn used in lots of remakes.
HG/SS didn't feature exact replicas of music from G/S/C, they were only soundalike 8-bit chiptunes .In this remake, they actually are exact replicas from the original GBA version.
What video are you even watching? This is Exoparadigmgamer’s ROR video of Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
@@ZimVerse Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver for the DS.
I could only assume that nintendo thought players were irritated by the switching between attacks a lot on the overworld, but having luigi in the front was awesome because superstar saga was the only game in the series were you can have luigi in the front in future game they removed that for some reason I don't if anyone knows let me know.
booo..
But hey at least we can still hit Luigi in the crotch, and that’s all that matters amirite?
Oh no.. now you can't do a funny little easter egg/unique interaction like the og can..
Such a bummer, this removal was so game changing and is such a letdown...
@QP_lite
One charming animation being dropped wouldn't be a big deal, trouble is the remakes did this *constantly* to cut corners, occasionally to outright bizarre degrees.

Spoilers bowser inside story
Maybe because they betrayed bowser in bowser's inside story (they regretted it at the end of the game)
A few more things you missed:
- The Japanese version of the GBA game had some of the revisions that carried onto the 3DS version since it was released after the American version, namely the heart blocks (although they were much rarer in the GBA version) and the Fawful boss battle using Cackletta's theme
- There's a fun easter egg that where if you try to do a high jump while Mario is in mini form and have Mario jump before Luigi lands, you can punch Luigi's family jewels for coins. In the original GBA release, Luigi loses 1hp for every coin, 2hp in the Japanese GBA version, and 4hp in the 3DS version
Oh god I gotta try that now! XD
Note: harassing luigi for coins wont knock him out, you will be left on 1hp for your next battle
ZonalJump
Holy shit, really? I thought that guy saying that you should be careful to not hit the important parts of the tall one was just a random dick joke. I must try it this instant!
So that's how you do it. RIP Luigi
I always figured the 4hp in the ds version was just some form of nerf to it so it couldn't be as abused for coins but now idk
Correction: (Spoliers!)
Cackletta's Soul doesn't attack as many times as she feels like, she gets 1 attack for every limb she has alive, including her head.

They're entertaining, yeah! Unlike you
This might just be me, but it always feels like the Mario & Luigi series is kind of overlooked.
(Maybe we can expect a review of that one super divisive M&L game, maybe?)
EDIT: I didn't mind the lack of facecam segments in this review, nor did I mind the facecam segments in previous reviews.
@@purplequi9962 even Nintendo is ignoring PiT seeing as they are skipping straight to Bis, when honestly PiT needs dual screens more.

Would you have enjoyed it more if instead of Bowser's Minions 2.0 they'd made PiT as a full remake as well? BiS and PiT would've been amazing on the same cart.

That bug sucks and I was lucky to avoid it, but otherwise that remake was solid.
Yeeeers
GBA version for me. I just love the 2D pixel art more and it's the original. Also one of the best games on the system.
Agreed. Soundtrack, sprites, and the game was faster paced and needed faster reaction time
@@mathematicianjeff8358 that's not true? The speed is the same, and all f the attacks and reaction tiems are identical
The graphics are amazing i have to agree, bit everything else is just better. Take for the example the bros move in the overworld: they were so hard to use in the original as you had to change the bros order and press the button until you find the one you need, which made sections like teehee valley really frustrating whereas in the remake they are far more enjoyable just for that
The visual art style is the only thing better in gba. All qol additions to bowser minions especially map and play fast forward were big additions.

What's the name of your intro?
Are you ever going to review Donkey Kong Country Returns?
Hey Michael could you review Donkey Kong 64 at some point?
Finally someone else who likes the Minion Quest mode
I drew this pixel Squirtle don’t forget me, I like it too
Wait what? Boss rush???
Captain Goomba and the other captains do return in Bowser Jr's Journey, though they play minor roles. The story mostly focuses on Bowser Jr and his quest to find a cure for the Blorbs, while strengthening his relationship with the Koopalings.
Fletcher Reed they help bowser junior train for future battles. They aren't enemies tho btw
I really don't care for the version of Come On in Bowser's Minions. The original will always be my favorite, but when I hear Paper Jam's I usually end up jamming out to it.
Agreed
I think it's a great remix
I at least appreciate Yoko extending the theme to make it a bit less repetitive.
I actually love the Bowser's Minions version of it. To me thst version of Come On is the best plus I love that it got extended.
As long as its Come On, I can get down with it.
“More recent Mario RPGs have failed to stack up in terms of plot”
If you mean Paper Jam, you’re right, but if you’re talking about Dream Team, you’re wrong.
At least paper jam didn't shove tutorials in your face Everytime you go to new area
perfect Boney - That is true. I certainly appreciated that change from Dream Team.
I still cannot understand how things completely flopped... between dream team and paper jam... it went from God's gift from above to Gods confusion in just 1 game! Paper jam lacked story so much! (Hey but it did have amazing gameplay elements! The fighting was fun (easy) and it was extremely satisfying perfecting all trio and bros attacks.. but no good story :( it was ok i guess)
But dream team had balanced gameplay but a story that would dismantle the devil himself!
I do wish that the Nintendo cameos intended for the café were in the remake. Characters like Samus, Olimar, and Wario would appear when you make a new brew and comment on it.
Link, don't forget Link. Triforce of Power was a must-have
What a missed opportunity
I mean, minions could've been improved significantly by making 4 changes:
1. Remove leveling
Boom.
John Robson That actually would make it a WAY better experience! As it was, I dropped the mode after reaching Gwarhar Lagoon.
@@TheRogueMaverick Maybe we could've convinced AlphaDream to do it like this the next time they did this, but now there will never be a next time
Paper Luigi - Well, who knows? It may happen someday. It is a pretty popular subseries of games!
The Rogue Maverick the reason there won’t be a next time is because alphadream (the developer of the M&L games) has went out of business.
GBA Cackletta is easy only if you
a) grinded your ass
b) Use broken builds (Mush badge with Advanced Bros. Attacks)
Partners in Time will always be my favorite Mario & Luigi game.
compared to Superstar, that game felt so much darker... I loved it xD
Yeah but nothing compares to bowser inside story and his Final Battle.
his final battle was definitely the best IMO. Partners in Time's felt a little too long and exaustive, as for Dream Team, it was... eh, nice.
i didnt like not having a place to heal in the areas.
Cyberbrickmaster1986 Never Let Up is one of my favorite video game songs

Javier Alonso Martínez well Bowser's Minions did add pipes nearby the minigame areas.
33:00 that's a nice 2 you've got there
I've noticed that too! That 2 looked like a 3
I was about to point that out, Lmao! He might fix it though.
Him fixing it would require him to delete and re-upload the video. There's nothing he can do about it.
This should be pinned. I got a good laugh. "TWO!!"
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga has always been one of my favorites.I spent countless hours playing on my Gameboy Advanced SP.
This is easily one of the most well-scripted and put together game reviews I've ever seen. Very well done, ExoParadigmGamer. 👍
Jokes End was no joking matter
2:47 - Ah. I just now too, realised that I, in retrospect, *M&L: Bowser's Inside Story* very much shaped my childhood more than I realised.
Cackletta's soul actually only attacks depending on her body segments. Each one gets an attack.
I find her harder than the Shadow Queen from Thousand Year Door
*sniff *sniff....rest in peace AlphaDream!
New Mario & Luigi comes out November 7th 2024
Well then Nintendo must've pulled some necromancy then.
Every time you release a new video it feels like it's been years since the last one , not that I'm complaining though, it is always great to watch a new vid from you Exo.
Exoparadigm gamer is the most bureau of all of all channels.
Well thats a word i've never seen before.
Holy crap! Your art is so accurate! All of those sprites are spot on!
Thanks! ^^
Your sprites are so much better than the ones on 3DS!
+ShyGuyXXL Your work is fucking great.
ShyGuyXXL - I’ll have to check this out.
Psycho Kamek is a mistranslation. Kamek is the Japanese name of the Magikoopa species. What were the localisers of Yoshi's Island thinking?
Prbably that it sounded like a good stand alone name
Monty De Santa did you play when you where young?
Because if you did your most likely getting blinded by nostalgia
@@obedmurillo462 Remember kids, if you don't like the remake more it's because of nostalgia and nothing else.
Still anxiously awaiting a potential Bowser’s Inside Story ROR.
Sounds like making it more like paper Mario?
Paper jam made it first
I’ve been waiting so long for this amazing show to come back, keep them coming
totally watched the whole thing. 10/10 liked and subbed
It's like Nintendo thinks they didn't violate Paper Mario enough with Sticker Star and Colour Splash.
i feel like in the remake versions of the battle theme, the bass is just missing?
Well, this was another great analysis as always. My only real gripe with the remake is that they replaced the mecha-chomps as I really wanted to see those enemies in 3D. Anyway, I think I requested this once before, but I'll request is again: Final Fantasy Adventure/Rise of Mana vs. Sword of Mana. I still feel like the latter deserves more respect than it gets.
Minion quest felt like a mediocre mobile game.
It does
I agree i never played the entire mode i just played until Chucklehukwoods and them gave up and went back to Superstar Saga. But i will say the story is very interesting because of some changes
3 prototype Mechawfuls were always here from the beginning.

(Actually I'm typing as I watch)
In terms of the camera segments I do prefer them since I feel you are talking to us the viewer in a personal way as opposed to hiding behind a camera.
That's just a minor thing that I noticed when comparing the two versions.
daveping243 incorrect they are in the remake you can’t buy them in little fungitown anymore you have to find them
I'm pretty sure they're still in. They just got nerfed to the ground.
Another thing is that for some reason when u face Bowletta on the GBA, u jump into the fire while on the 3DS, u just Dodge it and then fight her
You got something wrong about strategy games. You don't exactly need to have total control on all characters. But that depends the game rules. in Dungeon Keeper you got total control on your base building but barely any input in how the units act.
In Total War games you don't control units of one. you control entire batallions.
There are some mods in Empire Total War that let you control individual men but yeah, you're right
I found your channel because I wanted to know how these two games compared and your video is the only quality video available for that. Thanks!
It seem Yoko took a more electronic approach with the battle arrangements in Paper Jam and Bowser's Minions, but personally my main gripe is the reduced bass in the arrangements. Seriously those boom booms were great.
my gripe in the remake is that they cut most of Bowletta's theme from the original and its something I'll always question why?
@@rogue1248 what do you mean by this?
I didn't mind the camra sessions of previous ROR-episodes, but I also think this style worked as well.
I used to play PIT a billion time when I was a kid :') too bad they skipped it for BIS :(
Oh great, another Bowser's Inside Story predecessor hater.
That's all.
As annoyed as I am it makes some business sense. Prior to Paper Jam it was the worst reviewing and worst selling Mario and Luigi game
Thought the 3 was one of them
33:00 for cheap laughs
Exo, can you please make Star Fox 64 Vs. 3D? Because that would be amazing.
The 3ds version just looks so dark and without colour. The GBA looks vibrant and appealing to the eyes.
I feel the opposite. Probably because my GBA’s backlight makes the original look fuller but I still think the 3ds version is better.
*3ds version looks dark and without colour
Yeah, okay lol
@@okaten3522 The 3DS version has more realistic lighting and shading. Everything was bright in the GBA version
You're delusional it's dark because it actually has shading in the og it is light no matter what place so your complaining makes no sense.
I get that they added shading for a more realistic lighting scheme. But I just can’t stand it.
Michirin9801 Aged like a fine Cuckolacola?
You should, it improves on a lot of things and is beginner friendly without being outright insulting (option to replay Boss fight on easy mode If you fail, save anywhere you want, Bros attacks having a easier alternative mode for the cost of costing more BP)
42:20 Top 10 Anime Battles
In Regard to your Comment about the Original Superstar Saga being moderately challenging:I think that applies only if you decide not to wear certain gear. The Mush Badges and Great Force Snap the Game in Half, and allow you to become a God basically since you hit so ridiculous hard. With the final Mush Badge and Great Force on Mario,I two shot Cackletta Soul with it and I wasnt overleveled
Cackletta Moves has so many turns due to her insane speed stat.
I never used that gear,I was to bust breaking the game with Mush Badges and Great Force
Just add a red pepper ontop of that and do knockback bros and you're golden
I feel that the lack of cartoony sound effects has to do with the 3DS's lack of GBA compatibility, meaning no further compatibility with the original GB soundchip. Many of the GBA sound effects clearly come from the original soundchip, and they just feel more fitting on a GBA. With a PSG, you can really customise the sounds a lot more than when using samples like on the 3DS. And I assume they didn't want to just sample the original PSG, so they had to find or create generic sounding samples.
'lack of GBA compatibility'
But what about the Music Player?
It plays the GBA's music, note by note.
I'm assuming you meant the lack of GBA Game compatibility.
@@thewanderinggamer1369 Yeah I meant system-wise.
Man, I find the old sprites from the original far, FAR, better looking than the 3-D models of the remake.
Manuel Patiño their faces aren’t even that different in the remake.
Furthermore the new versions of mario and Luigi are still technically sprites.
@@callinater6133 Technically, but not literally. That really doesn't change my opinion, actually.
I actually Completed the Original Superstar Saga and I gotta say it is awesome doing a second playthrough I give it 9.9/10
The intro using both games was PERFECT. I actually started dancing😂
We need WAY more people who have that opinions!! Come at me, Gligar13Vids, who has very weak reviews!!
THE FACT YOU STILL HAVE TO FIGHT THAT PIHRANNA WITH ONLY LUIGI AND MESS UP THE EXP BAAAAAAAAA-
No joke, that really triggered me.
Dude, you put so much effort into your videos and I can't even finish a video on Mario Tennis Aces. I appreciate your content.
- Says that the original Paper Mario is his favorite.
- Love this video already.
Superstar Saga was literally the second game I owned, I was so happy when it got the remake, even though I never beat the original.
I have been checking and waiting for 4 years for a remake or rebreak Bowser's Inside story video, please make one soon

Holy crap, Final fantasy V is actually his favorite. You got yourself a subscriber my dude
The community tab is an underrated feature, rare to see YT actually implement something useful.
It's like they saw how much everyone loathed Final Fantasy: All the Bravest and said "man, we gotta get in on that"
I think the Bowser's Minions side-game is actually in the auto-battler genre.
Alright! Another review! It's been so long! I'm so glad your playing my favorite game!
What about the Bowsers inside story remake?
Might get that after pokemon... RIP alphadream ;-;
Re-meh at best.
@@N12015 disagree, remake or replace
The battle theme goes harder in the GBA version mainly because of the louder bass and percussion, but the remake makes up for it by extending the song and adding another section to it.
Every song in the original Superstar Saga goes harder than even the most above-average songs in the remake imo.

Awesome! Another Remake of Rebreak episode! I was recently thinking about these, glad to see you're still doing them. :)
Great video! This was my first ever RPG, so it's great to see that it got a remake. Not to nitpick, but you displayed "3" twice when listing random changes at 33:00. :)
That's literally a nitpick.
one of my gripes with this is that it uses the exact same sprite artstyle that's been in use since dream team. before dream team, every mario & luigi game had a different sprite style, so the fact that its now just the same style over and over again is super disappointing

"Two"
*has the number 3 on screen*
17:00 ok, this part really bothers me for one reason
You make it seem only people who haven't played the games but seen them have a problem
However this isn't true, some people can play the games and dislike the art style, even though once on the intended screen it looks better, people can still have a problem with it
Joke's End in Bowser's Minions actually creeped me out something fiercesome
One thing I didn't like was the changing of enemies to look more like traditional Mushroom Kingdom enemies. Like changing the Pilot Koopas into normal Koopas, or changing the boomerang bros to look more normal. Or the Troopeas to look like normal Koopas. This is a minor nitpick, but to me it kind of helped sell me on the Bean Bean kingdom being a seperate country. Overall I think the Remake does more good than bad, but I still prefer the original.
