13:11 The “let it blow” thing, in the Japanese version is just starlow saying a bad pun. In japan bad puns have the power to cause cold wind, with it being weirdly localized in other versions.
I can't 100% confirm this, but I've once heard that starlow's let it blow move in Dream team is actually a joke that only works in Japanese. Apparently in the original Japanese version starlow makes a bad pun to which wind starts blowing because wind blowing in Japan is comparable to the sound of crickets as a sound for silence.
I can confirm this. In the Japanese version Starlow says “布団が吹っ飛んだ!(Futon ga futton da!) which translates to “the Futon (mattress) was blown away!”. The pun is that futon and “to be blown away (futton)” sounds similar to each other
My theory about the superstar saga being a movie is that the remake is the original adventure because of the lack of the Mario Luigi movie poster and the lack of the Yoshi theater in the ending of the remake
The partners in time enemy counters refers to an unused mechanic where if you attack some bosses they could have an ! appear over their head and then immediately attack you while ignoring the speed stat if i remember correctly
I thought it was for counterparts of mushroom kingdom members in the shroob race, like princess shroob, shroobsworth, Shrooboids (Mario and Luigi) and way more
Dream Team will always be my favourite, from the gameplay, to the soundtracks, to the places on the map, to the dream world. Everything about it made me really happy to play it (I 100%'d the game many times because i was bored)
Im surprised that "luigi has ptsd" is not on the iceberg if ppl dont know remember the shroobs yehhh luigi still retains some level of fear even in Bowser's inside story where Bowser has some frozen in the basement
I mean The game is kinda dark and they were babies, also he was KINADPED while being a 2 day old baby, Whats next? He being chasen by gosths that want to trap him and all of his friends in paintings 3 times? Oh wait...
Shocking how M&L was released 3 days before I was born. It feels like this series and I have a connection, as my affinity for RPGs and Mario games have always been with me.
Fun fact: I actually share a birthday with the original Super Mario RPG and that game hold a special connection with me. But in my opinion, it can't topple the Mario and Luigi series.
"Partners in Time enemy counters" refers to some versions of Partners in Time having a mechanic where enemies would have an exclamation mark pop up over their head after the player has attacked. This was a random mechanic, and let them do an attack of their own regardless of turn order. If I remember correctly, it was exclusive to bosses, though.
It's not a random mechanic, actually. It happens every time Bowser, Elder Shrooboid's 2nd form (as long as he's not lying on the ground) and Elder Princess Shroob's 1st form are hit. They will then immediately counterattack with a pre-determined attack which does not use their turn: Fire Breath for Bowser, a spike ball for Elder Shrooboid and the shoulder tackle for Elder Princess Shroob. As far as I know, this is in all versions except for the American one (so PAL and Japanese).
@QJrocks Oh yeah, I think you're right. @@LunarBoo Ah, I see. I think it was, like many things in the non-US versions, done for balance. Most bosses have less HP than in the US version but make up for it by attacking more often.
@@LunarBoo It was quite cool because it made some boss fights have an additional layer of strategy, all the bosses with counters have something you needed to do in order to make them stop countering your attack also it was a cool way to punish impatient players that didn't try to engage with the intricacies of each boss fights, like, do you truly want to defeat the shroob princess without destroying her limbs? Well, you can but the fight will be even more harder
The Giant Luigi stuck in a corner glitch, at least with my 3DS, was caused by the vibrations from the speakers messing with the gyroscope! Turning down or muting the game fixed it, and I immediately had perfect control of Giant Luigi. Outside of giant battles, I have had no trouble with motion controls in Dream Team whatsoever.
33:15 There's two Grombas on the overworld for the first battle (the Broque Monsieur is evil charade), but only one in battle. Vice versa for the second battle; one on the overworld, two in battle.
Dream Team has a special place in my heart, as it was the first ever Nintendo game I owned and completed. Also, I can indeed confirm that boo biscuits make you immune to Pi’llodium’s self-destruct.
To me is the same thing except it wasn't my first game infact i never had a console but it was my introduction to the series and probably the 3 mario game that ive watched just after nsmb wii and super paper mario
I miss this franchise so much, man. Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, and Bowser’s Inside Story all rank in my top 15 games of all time with Dream Team being my #1. A part of me thinks this franchise will be back soon in the future, but whenever that will happen with a HD remake or new game altogether, time will only tell. Either way, thank you for the 20 years, AlphaDream.
Something to note, AlphaDream's name is meant to be a play on Final Fantasy, as a lot of their founding staff had previously worked at Square. So while their logo bears heavy resemblance to alpha keratin, the name is from something else entirely.
*Fun Fact about Mario and Luigi:* Bean Bean Kingdom is basically Mr. Bean in a form of an island. All of the residence are all beans, but most of the laugh puns in each location and the beans that Mario and Luigi collected is how Mr. Bean makes us laugh.
Bowser's Inside story and Dream Team are my favorite in the series. Some people really hate on Dream Team because of the tutorials and they were kinda annoying but I love the way the world opens up more and more and you can go back to old places with new moves to explore places you couldn't reach before. I also love how each place has its own story and characters and sub plot that ties into the main plot. For instance, instead of just a boring dry desert, their is a dig operation to build a new resort and uncover the old ruins and you get to engage with all the characters working on that and you end up finding a way into the ruins and running into Antasma who steals the dream stone. I also love how alive with life Dream port city is and all the lore you can learn by reading the books scattered throughout. They really call back to the Paper Mario games with that one. My favorite part of the game was the Massif bros. The whole journey from finding them in the dream world to climbing Mount pajamaja and their zaney antics and humor. The statues that reference Greek mythology and then the mamooska boss at the top. I didn't have the drop chopper yet (I missed it on the way up) so the fight was a lot harder than it should have been and I appreciated that. The leveling system was way better in DT than BIS which I felt was way too easy in the first half and then when you finally make it out of Bowser you are way under leveled and the characters grow levels way too fast. Dream Team had a perfect difficulty increase with the progression. However I think that Superstar Saga had the best mini games. I wish that it would have had post-game secrets. I loved the story in Partners In Time and the way the baby bros can separate from the bros to solve puzzles. I love the battle system using the babies ontop of the bros which adds more nuance to the timed attacks and dodges but the bros items were ...meh. I loved the story and progression. But it lacked cool mini games and it was way too linear. There were no secrets of any kind really. There were no older areas that opened up more once you learned new moves to go back and explore, no secret bosses or post game stuff. But I actually enjoyed my second playthrough more than my first which was unusual. I normally like a bunch of extra content and secrets but I like how quickly the game moves and progresses abd there is no dull or tedious boring moments. I love the lore in BIS with the optional shroobs boss. I didn't even know about it till after I finished the game! I found out that I was missing 2 bros moves and the brogey attack for Bowser which I enjoyed because it means that those things are extras and you have to go out of your way to find them so it rewards exploration. I love that Dream Team has a hard mode option for when you beat the game. I have not attempted it yet and have not been able to beat Antasma X yet. But I look forward to playing through it again. I also have not played the original BIS. I've only played the remake and I love it. But I found out that there is a medal that makes all the enemies stronger which technically makes it so you can play most of the game in hard mode which is really cool. But in the remake you can only get it once you beat all the bosses in the challenge node. That means you only can use it for basically the last 2 bosses. That stinks! I don't know why they did that it defeats the whole purpose. So I need to buy the original BIS to experience that. I literally just finished Paper Jam a couple days ago and it wasn't really special at all. It was fun but it could have been so much more. Props to anyone who read this whole message and I'd love to hear what everyone's favorite game in the series is and why. God bless.
I don't have a favorite M&L game All of them are masterpieces Yes, y'all gonna hate me for this but even Paper Jam It's musics are extremely well made Papercraft battles are unique It actually makes Bowser feel threatening and not a joke, just like in Dream Team And it got Koopalings and their special attacks, what could you ask for more? EVEN DRY BOWSER HIMSELF!
I the Partner in Time enemy counters at 22:06 might refer to how in the JP and EU versions Bowser, the Elder Shrooboid and Elder Shroob Princess can attack you back when you attack them.
Funny enough, when I was in Middle/High School during the wait for Dream Team, a classmate had told me that he heard rumors that the secret boss of the game was a fight against Fawful’s ghost who wanted to enact revenge on Mario & Luigi one last time after the events of Bowser’s Inside Story That’s pretty much all that I can remember
I heard rumors about Fawful being in intro of Dream Team At the part where they land on Pillo Island, after first Antasma battle, the part where crowd is greeting Mario I heard that someone in the crowd that you can interact with is Fawful, you just gotta remember Fawful's talking style (Example: I am having the havings of being Fawful) I couldn't find a footage on UA-cam to confirm it
Watching this made me realize something. The mushroom that Fawful gives to Bowser at the beginning of inside story, is that Cackletta? If you think about it, Bowletta inhaled the bros in superstar saga, then once Bowser eats the mushroom, he can suddenly inhale the same way, only this time out of his own free will. It makes me think Fawful used Cackletta’s remains (if there was any) to give to Bowser. Plus the mushroom is the same colors as Cackletta
here's another pretty obscure fact present in the french (edit: and japanese) version of the games: The S.S. Chuckola (Millésime in french) in SuperStar Saga is never seen again but, in Bowser's Inside Story, where Bowser wakes up in Cavi Cape, there's a gate with a sign on it (the gate opens by hitting the falling balls next to it) in the french version, it is implied that this gate, and the wooden structure around it was part of the S.S. Chuckola french in-game quote: Ce navire, dernier fleuron de la technologie, c'est le "Millésime".
I think people were more curious as to where the red pipe itself led. not only are you never able to use it because it's higher than you can get to, you never see a corresponding red pipe on the outside that it could lead to. another thing about that entry is that bowser inhaled a bunch of pipes that ended up in his ear somehow, but how they are able to form connections with the outside after being seemingly partially destroyed and then inhaled is still a mystery. i know the whole point is that the pipe yard is how you fast travel as the bros, but the implications of pipes being in there are interesting
What most intrigues me about Bowser's body is the way he eats things. When he inhales the bros at the start of the game, they're sent to a completely different place than any of the other food Bowser eats, which is shown in the digestion minigame where food enters the correct place and is digested. The path Mario and Luigi take through his body doesn't pass through the minigame area, so where did they end up and how did they get there without being digested? Also something that I've really wondered why no one seems to question - WHY, just WHY, does bowser have a life saving protocol in his body, during which in the case that Bowser is close to death, two tiny people would operate a raft and fire red and green bullets at corresponding red and green energy particles that make him turn huge and recover fully from his injuries? How could that physically be operated by anyone other than Mario and Luigi? The other minigames in his body could be operated by globin fairly easily or done automatically, but not this one. The globin know how it works and what it is, which means it's clearly been here for a while as a manual thing in Bowser's body, except they've just never done it? At least it has continuity in the fact that we never see Bowser use this in the entire series, except for when the bros. do it for him in inside story, and even in the main games it's usually done by Kamek's magic or something, not Bowser's body itself. But how did it get there and why is it there in the first place? It feels way too oddly specific and situational.
@@maratby4364 the organisms in bowser's body appear to be not only highly intelligent but also very apparent of the strange inner workings of their host. the vacuum shroom that bowser ate in dimble wood changed his body unpredictably and the different globins realized that something weird was happening and adapted to fit the situation, like the evoglobins for example. maybe they realized that there were a lot of foreign entities that were interacting with bowser's system now and tried to communicate with some of them to ask them to help bowser instead of their typical immune functions (probably as a rational alternative to fighting EVERY OTHER ORGANISM that bowser inhaled), and luckily mario and luigi got inhaled and were willing to help them out i think the vacuum shroom makes anything that enters bowser's body shrink down to make it seem like his body is bigger on the inside whilst also being able to fit "more" stuff in him, and this increase in size reverses when he spits stuff up or when things leave his body. i also believe that the vacuum shroom made bowser's body a more adaptable environment to accommodate for the dozens of things he can now inhale into it. kinda like how blaze from sonic calls her flames a "curse" but still uses them as super useful powers. fawful "cursed" bowser by causing him to inhale lots of crap, but he turned it into a tool that can let him power up from what he inhales, and he just so happened to inhale the mario bros
@@naryosh_that's really interesting as well. Maybe goblins, with all the respect they have for their master, they think just like Bowser, trying to turn foreign entities into minions before maybe starting a defensive protocol to deal with em if necessary.
27:40 "It was discovered" makes it sound like the code was hidden by the developers while in actuality Toadbert mentions it in-game through a dialogue when you visit him in Toad Square right before going to the Lumbar Nook. 33:22 I think *Gromba Swap* refers to the fact that in the very first Gromba fight in the game, two Grombas charge at Mario in the overworld yet only one appears in-battle, while in the next battle, only one Gromba attacks on the overworld but there are two enemies present in-battle. It seems feels like these two encounters were somehow swapped.
I know the protection effects of badges can just nullify the explosion damage of Pillodium completely. It's hilarious to have him go "laugh: victory" only to no sell the entire thing.
20:59 I own a German version of the original Mario & Luigi Adventure Bowser and I can confirm that this special bossfight is so laggy, that one cannot play this game anymore basically. It really does confuse you on how you should act. The weirdest part about it is, that it starts normally and that, the more progress you make over there, the more laggier it gets. Never managed to defeat that boss because of it.
12:26 ok this scene is missing lots of context. Starlow originaly made a bad pun in the Japanese version. In the japanese language, wind is often used in the same way people use crickets in the english language when referring to an unfunny joke being made. However, this ends up making this whole scene strange in the english version because of the lack of explanation. Whats funny is Im pretty sure (I might be wrong) Starlow makes another pun in bowser's inside story when she's teaching mario and luigi how to fight together, but in the English version it ends up turning out really awkward. (Edit: just realized some else said the same thing) 22:08 pretty sure its referring to an unused mechanic that I believe can actually appear in some versions of the game (don't quote me on that) where some bosses can attack immediately after you attack them like in superstar saga 32:40 aside from the connection you made to them both liking beef. There's a youtuber called fawful's minion that has made jokes saying that the master bros are the reason fawful wasnt in the game. 51:34 refers to how characters in the mario and luigi series (primarily in superstar saga) call luigi the green brother as a running joke. The reason its labeled as blue brother however, is because the Japanese language often likes to use green and blue interchangeably with one another. Since they, for the longest time (and sometimes still) see green as a shade of blue
Now that I think about it (the pit enemy counter), there's swiggler that counters if you attack it while still enraged. Maybe a few others, does it, recognizable by an exclamation mark before attacking
Ok I'm actually not joking. I actually started working on an M&L inspired indie game and if anyone is an avid coder I really think I have something to exist someday! So lmk if anyone wants to help! I really just love the m&L community so thank you for shedding light on the iceberg! I enjoyed it lots
At least in the 3DS version, Toadbert actually tells you about the code to skip teatime, it was in the are where you unlock the bodyslam if i remember correctly.
51:34 there are blue and yellow Mario’s available as players 3 and 4 in the gba Mario Bros remake, which is of course in Superstar Saga, so maybe they’re referring to that?
I had a really, REALLY long discussion with my best friend the other day about how we theorized that parts of PiT, and Bowser’s Inside Story arent canon to the series, or are at least a part of a different timeline separate from the main series timeline. It had something to do with how the baby versions of Mario & Luigi give the adult Mario & Luigi their hammers at the end of the game and are the adult Mario & Luigi in Bowser’s Inside Story based on the cutscene that plays in the frozen room with the Shroobs in Bowser’s Castle where Starlow repeats what Mario says about them having fought the Shroobs as children, so it got us thinking to the point where we thought maybe the babies were part of the “RPG” timeline, and how Partners in Time and Superstar Saga are the only entries to the series that are from the “Mainline” timeline, whereas the rest of the series is from the RPG timeline. It also had to to with Fawful and how in PiT he reminisced about seeing the clothing of the babies and it reminding him of the Mario & Luigi who trounced him in Superstar Saga
16:32 idk about the boo biscuit thing but you can use the barrier badge effect to completely tank the explosion with no damage (which is probably why they made King Bob-Omb's explosion in Paper Jam a multi-hit to prevent barrier cheese)
Something that I thought was weird and inconsistent was the fact that both bowser and the bros share money in BIS. It just seemed strange even though it was my favorite of the series. Also they should have made it so Something happens when you make the bros go to where you left bowser on the world map but he's just gone.
Itd have just been another boss fight. When the bros go to toad town topside Bowser shows up to fight them because he believes they've been trapped while he's getting stronger. I figured after that the implication is that, if Bowser is in the overworld with the bros, they will fight. It's kind of confirmed with the ending as well.
that giant luigi motion control glitch in the first patch i never knew about. as a kid i grinded through the game immediately after it came out because it was my most hyped game ever and my family went camping after i got it, but that bug made me stuck on the zeekeeper boss fight for like 3 hours straight 😂
I wish they would come back! Just thinking about how they could’ve released a brand new Game for the Nintendo Switch is crazy. But nope, They had to be Bankrupt!
Bankrupt with no support from Nintendo and no mention about them anywhere to be seen, maybe if Paper Mario remake does well they'll bring back M&L but we'll see :(
17:34 BiS also had some Emoglobins inside Bowser that would fully heal the bros; although, they were never visually distinct. 41:38 These two goombas remind me or the Goomba Bros from Paper Mario 64. They might’ve been a planned reference that got scrapped?
It isn't that absurd actually. Looking at the canary islands, they do have a lot of different climates, often even on the same island. Since most of the time, the wind and moisture comes from the north, the south is much drier and hotter than the north. Sometimes, you can really see the difference in vegetation between north facing and south facing slopes on two sides of a ridge, just a few meters apart from each other. Not only that, there are even sandy areas on la Palma and Lanzarote.
The Bowser X glitch however isn't only related to the language. I have always played it in Italian (as I'm from Italy lol) and that part always got me stucked because it started being extremely glitchy
honestly, i think Nintendo probably saw how Alphadream was extremely referential to other nintendo franchises in general in early development and told them to draw it back. it'd explain why the cafe cameos+dialogue was removed, yet the items they give were renamed. Bink probably was a strange case since even though he's a Kong, the minigame he's a part of wasn't a Donkey Kong reference. maybe he was OK as a reference, only if he was a skeleton. Rareware did get bought out by Microsoft at the time, they were probably worried about expanding the Donkey Kong cast. it'd help that Nintendo wasn't sure if they owned Diddy Kong wholly and went with DK Jr for Mario Tennis 64. they could've just had their arms tied with informing them of the potential buyout until it was made public long after designing graphics for Bink. Nintendo didn't utilize the DKC IP nor their characters until 2004 with Jungle Beat and the Konga series, maybe there was a brief moratorium until Microsoft gave Rareware the A-OK on being able to produce games for handhelds, since they had no competition there. (with the DKC GBA Games. also reworking Donkey Kong Coconut Crackers into Its Mr Pants).
53:30 Power Rangers actually does adress the question (at least for the first 6 seasons). In the first episode one of the rules for being a Ranger, is “never escalate a battle unless the forces you to”. As for the many teams that WEREN’T mentored by Zordon….
31:00 Farmer Boots also exists in Paper Jam, they can be obtained from Shiny Paper Broozers at the same drop rate, however unlike in Dream Team, when you obtain them, it automatically gives you two of them, which makes it less tedious than having to farm it twice for both brothers
Awesome video! There are a few things I'd like to add or mention: •I'm genuinely surprised there's nothing on the iceberg about the character Yikk from Bowser's Inside Story, because I think he's one of the most intriguing characters in the whole franchise. Like, is he human? Who IS he?? He only shows up in this one game (and not even in the flesh) and then never shows up again. A theory I had for a while that's kind of dark is that Bowser actually killed Yikk during the giant battle against the tower of Yikk, so that spooked me to think about. But later I realized Yikk was probably already dead for some time and that's why the tower wasn't being used anymore. •Also nothing about Chakron and how he watches over you the entire game and shows you your ranks after the credits, but maybe that's an obvious one. •There is a glitch in Dream Team where if you didn't update the game, the game would softlock after you beat Antasma X but only if you used any Luiginary attacks, preventing you from unlocking the boss medley. This actually happened to me after I FINALLY defeated Antasma X after coming back to the game years later, only to have the game softlock (my SD card slot is broken so I can't update the game). I was able to win by using the right gear and only using regular attacks without any Luiginary, which was difficult but rewarding. Maybe there was something else but that's all I can think of for now
i can tell this is a good video, when inside story first came out back in 2010 me and my brothers were little and it was the most hyped game ever because you can be bowser, so we did literally every little thing and it made all 4 of us huge fans of the series (only this serious for some of them as we grown apart in our tastes, so it’s funny when one who hasn’t played a video game since 2016 years is sad about alpha dream going kaput) we did everything, we went to toad town as bowser because we wanted to scare the toads, we would edit pictures on our stupid dsi picture edited to make it oook like mario and luigi were next to bowser in the over world (tried that as a kid in inside story and we were sad it didn’t work) alpha dream always has a deep place in my heart man love this series and i can tell you do too, fantastic video
I think part of the entry with the broken pipes in bowser maybe has been about wondering where those broken pipes originally have lead to. I know they are not really programmed to take you anywhere. But maybe either it implies in it lore just by its presence or perhaps once originally was planned to lead somewhere that eventually got cut from the game and the pipe to it was reused as a barricade.
10:21 this actually refers to the fact that certain enemies have weak points that, when aimed at, do critical damage. Like if you aim at the bandage at the matrioska fight, it will be a critical. Edit: quote from the wiki: "The Slingsniper does critical damage to Pi'illodactyls, Wiggler, Pi'illodactyl Rs, Pi'illodium, Grobot X, Torkscrew X, Mammoshka X, Dreamy Bowser and Pi'illodium X if it strikes them where a star mark appears, presumably indicating their weak spot."
a whole hour of M&L content? Truly a blessed piece of art If I may add to the iceberg: I can't remember where I heard it from (I think it was from Did You Know Gaming or a similar channel), but apparently in the first three games the Japanese OST names were always directly translated to English for localization. It explains why some we got some weird OST names in English copies, usually the battle themes. Also explains why fans call certain tracks by different names. Some will say The Grand Finale (the official OST name that was used in the soundtrack release iirc), others say In The Final. Some say Tough Guy Alert (also part of the "official soundtrack"), others say They're Pretty Tough, Should We Be Careful? . The directly translated names came first though from what I remember Also, I should mention the issue that the remakes present when trying to establish a track's name lol. In SS the boss theme is widely knowm as "Come on, Again" while in SSDX it's "We Can't lose" even the GBA version And just a small thing, but a lot of people on UA-cam use the title " 'Final Battle' / 'Boss Battle' " when uploading the tracks or a remaster to UA-cam, even when the OST appears to have an official name or semi official/fanon name. The most notorious examples of this I can think of is the theme of Elder P Shroobs second phase. Its semi official name is "Another's Requiem" The OSTs seem to have so much confusion around them that someone could probably make a whole video on them alone
This video was recommended to me today, and it’s funny seeing it and hearing “we may never get another game again” after the announcement of a new game in the direct this week. Wonder how the iceberg will evolve after its release!
I assume after the voice of Birdo is used (ie: no longer trapped in Fawful's headgear or in the robots) it just goes back to the person it was stolen from.

The “let it blow” thing, in the Japanese version is just starlow saying a bad pun.
In japan bad puns have the power to cause cold wind, with it being weirdly localized in other versions.
Ah, kind of like the cold wind that blows in some of the animal crossing emotes.
That’s probably the logic behind the Pokemon move Chilly Reception.

Ironically enough, in Paper Jam, the paper characters are 3D models while the real world characters use 2D sprites.
How the hell does that works?
@@pistincup352 I guess they made the paper characters really flat models like Mr Game and Watch in Smash Bros
@@pistincup352 It's so the paper characters can bend and twist, and also so they can reuse the Dream Team sprites probably.

The pun is that futon and “to be blown away (futton)” sounds similar to each other
It's a chilly reception of a joke so wind
My theory about the superstar saga being a movie is that the remake is the original adventure because of the lack of the Mario Luigi movie poster and the lack of the Yoshi theater in the ending of the remake

I mean
The game is kinda dark and they were babies, also he was KINADPED while being a 2 day old baby, Whats next?
@@DefinitivNichtSascha Wasn't there also a shockwave counter for Swiggler if you attacked it without weakening first?
By "random mechanic" I meant it was a very odd inclusion, wording silly.
But I wasn't aware of which bosses specifically were affected.
@QJrocks Oh yeah, I think you're right.
Woah that's pretty interesting. Motion controls worked fine for me outside of the giant battles.
I always put the volume up all the way to jam out to the music when I used to play the giant battles. I never bet it because it always glitched.
33:15
There's two Grombas on the overworld for the first battle (the Broque Monsieur is evil charade), but only one in battle.
This is one of THOSE videos where they blow up about 2 months after they're released
So true, I believe as well
It better be, it deserves it
Day 6
Day 7

I’d like to think that if bowser tried to enter one of the pipes that leads into himself he just turns inside out or implodes.
The pipe would probably just shoot him back out
He would be one with himself.
*Fun Fact about Mario and Luigi:* Bean Bean Kingdom is basically Mr. Bean in a form of an island. All of the residence are all beans, but most of the laugh puns in each location and the beans that Mario and Luigi collected is how Mr. Bean makes us laugh.
Superstar Saga was notable for bringing back the Koopalings who at the time hadn't been seen since 1994's Hotel Mario.
and then they died again until New Super Mario Bros. Wii
God bless.
Oh man that's long. DT and BiS are my favorites too. Dream Team is overhated
I don't have a favorite M&L game
All of them are masterpieces
Yes, y'all gonna hate me for this but even Paper Jam
It's musics are extremely well made
Papercraft battles are unique
It actually makes Bowser feel threatening and not a joke, just like in Dream Team
And it got Koopalings and their special attacks, what could you ask for more? EVEN DRY BOWSER HIMSELF!
I the Partner in Time enemy counters at 22:06 might refer to how in the JP and EU versions Bowser, the Elder Shrooboid and Elder Shroob Princess can attack you back when you attack them.
Pretty sure Swiggler attacks you back too with shock waves
My head canon is that midbus is used as a ac machine
lol
if that was the case, wouldn't the ice melt?
@@lol-ih1tl probably but it’s still funny
Funny enough, when I was in Middle/High School during the wait for Dream Team, a classmate had told me that he heard rumors that the secret boss of the game was a fight against Fawful’s ghost who wanted to enact revenge on Mario & Luigi one last time after the events of Bowser’s Inside Story
That’s pretty much all that I can remember
I heard rumors about Fawful being in intro of Dream Team
At the part where they land on Pillo Island, after first Antasma battle, the part where crowd is greeting Mario
I heard that someone in the crowd that you can interact with is Fawful, you just gotta remember Fawful's talking style (Example: I am having the havings of being Fawful)
I couldn't find a footage on UA-cam to confirm it
41:31
21:00 As a German player, I can confirm that this fight was incredibly difficult with that Glitch. It ALWAYS happened after the „Giant Bowser“-attack.
Plus the mushroom is the same colors as Cackletta
hearing you say Shrooms instead of Shroobs the first time they were mentioned made me irrationally upset
for the slingsniper weakpoints, there are some enenmies with stars like at the end of the giant battles, like the pilliow dactl,
here's another pretty obscure fact present in the french (edit: and japanese) version of the games:
The S.S. Chuckola (Millésime in french) in SuperStar Saga is never seen again
but, in Bowser's Inside Story, where Bowser wakes up in Cavi Cape, there's a gate with a sign on it (the gate opens by hitting the falling balls next to it)
in the french version, it is implied that this gate, and the wooden structure around it was part of the S.S. Chuckola
french in-game quote:
Ce navire, dernier fleuron de la technologie, c'est le "Millésime".
Bien vu ! Je ne l'avais jamais remarqué
Videos like this make me happy to be a Mario & Luigi fan
I thought it was common knowledge that Mario always could speak and its just we the players that can't hear them?
@@maratby4364 the organisms in bowser's body appear to be not only highly intelligent but also very apparent of the strange inner workings of their host. the vacuum shroom that bowser ate in dimble wood changed his body unpredictably and the different globins realized that something weird was happening and adapted to fit the situation, like the evoglobins for example. maybe they realized that there were a lot of foreign entities that were interacting with bowser's system now and tried to communicate with some of them to ask them to help bowser instead of their typical immune functions (probably as a rational alternative to fighting EVERY OTHER ORGANISM that bowser inhaled), and luckily mario and luigi got inhaled and were willing to help them out
i think the vacuum shroom makes anything that enters bowser's body shrink down to make it seem like his body is bigger on the inside whilst also being able to fit "more" stuff in him, and this increase in size reverses when he spits stuff up or when things leave his body. i also believe that the vacuum shroom made bowser's body a more adaptable environment to accommodate for the dozens of things he can now inhale into it. kinda like how blaze from sonic calls her flames a "curse" but still uses them as super useful powers. fawful "cursed" bowser by causing him to inhale lots of crap, but he turned it into a tool that can let him power up from what he inhales, and he just so happened to inhale the mario bros
@@maratby4364that's a really interesting take. Nice pfp btw
Yeah, Toadbert EXPLICITLY tells you to remember it.
Brothership reigned my love for the siries and now im watching every m&l piece of media I can
The broken motion control, it was never a problem until zeekerper fight, I can affirm that I experienced this bug
I remember getting the farmer boots as a kid and thinking: what would i want these? Without knowing how rare they were
16:35 i remember trying this and i think the boo biscuits ran out just before the explosion? but it was long ago so i'm not 100% sure
This is such a cozy video. Brothership is gonna take this to the moon
I know the protection effects of badges can just nullify the explosion damage of Pillodium completely. It's hilarious to have him go "laugh: victory" only to no sell the entire thing.
Antasma making a portal with a different color probably just shows that luigi didn’t make the portal, antasma did
20:59 I own a German version of the original Mario & Luigi Adventure Bowser and I can confirm that this special bossfight is so laggy, that one cannot play this game anymore basically. It really does confuse you on how you should act. The weirdest part about it is, that it starts normally and that, the more progress you make over there, the more laggier it gets. Never managed to defeat that boss because of it.
I love fighting Glitch Bowser. Makes it even harder.
(Edit: just realized some else said the same thing)
22:08 pretty sure its referring to an unused mechanic that I believe can actually appear in some versions of the game (don't quote me on that) where some bosses can attack immediately after you attack them like in superstar saga
32:40 aside from the connection you made to them both liking beef.
Probably the most important part of the iceberg is Luigi's socks. Give my man back the stripes and the black letter hats.
11:37 this aged well
To add to bowser still having the vacuum block in games following bis in paper jam bros dry bowser also uses it in his boss fight.
Midbus for brothership praying circle
In the barrel minigame, a 8-bit sprite of Stalfos from the first Zelda game can appear in the bottom right
Ok I'm actually not joking. I actually started working on an M&L inspired indie game and if anyone is an avid coder I really think I have something to exist someday! So lmk if anyone wants to help! I really just love the m&L community so thank you for shedding light on the iceberg! I enjoyed it lots
11:39 Yeah...about that
At least in the 3DS version, Toadbert actually tells you about the code to skip teatime, it was in the are where you unlock the bodyslam if i remember correctly.
He also says it in the original
My favourite series
with Dream Team as my favourite Game of all time
As a long time M&L fan I am eating like I haven’t in years rn
Awesome vid
14:58 in the remake's title screen, we see very well that it's a movie
this is gonna sound like a stupid wild thought
but the mossy and pop goomba seem like it'd be a reference to the goomba bros in paper mario
Or maybe is a debug thing for checking Fire and Thunder Critical attacks?
@@gustavoalejandromorletavil426 sounds way more viable than them being a reference lmao
The counter attack refferes to a pal version exclusive feature where some enemies can attack back right after you attacked them no matter what
Perfect videos to be made with the announcement of Brothership!
Honestly, I think fawful's spirit still lingers, as bowser just spews out everyone at the end of the game.
YES! An almost hour long Mario and Luigi iceberg video! The longer the iceberg video, the better!
38:20 Stone Blooper isn’t the only enemy that can damage Bowser from inside, Durmites straw attack saps Bowsers health to heal itself.
but even then, these are the ONLY TWO ennemy that can do that. its not gonna bring back that item.
that giant luigi motion control glitch in the first patch i never knew about. as a kid i grinded through the game immediately after it came out because it was my most hyped game ever and my family went camping after i got it, but that bug made me stuck on the zeekeeper boss fight for like 3 hours straight 😂
I’m so glad that other people experienced the motion control bug
Also from my experience no the patch did not fix it
I expect an update in a few months...
I wish they would come back! Just thinking about how they could’ve released a brand new Game for the Nintendo Switch is crazy. But nope, They had to be Bankrupt!
Bankrupt with no support from Nintendo and no mention about them anywhere to be seen, maybe if Paper Mario remake does well they'll bring back M&L but we'll see :(
:)
26:55
ironic huh
17:34 BiS also had some Emoglobins inside Bowser that would fully heal the bros; although, they were never visually distinct.
41:38 These two goombas remind me or the Goomba Bros from Paper Mario 64. They might’ve been a planned reference that got scrapped?
Anyone here after the direct for the new Mario and Luigi game was announced?
18:40 for Mount. Pajamaja's climate is very easy to explain, it's only snowy near the summit. But as for Dozing Sands, I have no clue.
Its also implied Fawful sold the badges to use the beans, TO BUT THE BLORB MUSHROOMS WHICH STARTED EVERYTHING IN INSIDE STORY
The Bowser X glitch however isn't only related to the language. I have always played it in Italian (as I'm from Italy lol) and that part always got me stucked because it started being extremely glitchy
23:00 They were supposed to protect Dreambert. thats why they are dissapointed
I miss you AlphaDream
i like the idea that the toads are storing midbus as a bowser counter to be released as a secret weapon if bowser gets too powerful
It'd be a good idea if MidBoss wasn't such a weakling.
I used to play Partners in Time so much back in the day. I played it most days while riding to school and back.
i miss this series so god damn much
Fun video
All of the rpg games take place in continuity with mario world and luigis mansion. We learn this from superstar saga
honestly, i think Nintendo probably saw how Alphadream was extremely referential to other nintendo franchises in general in early development and told them to draw it back. it'd explain why the cafe cameos+dialogue was removed, yet the items they give were renamed.
53:45 I'm literally playing a pirated copy of Mario & Luigi Bowser's inside story right now.
53:30 Power Rangers actually does adress the question (at least for the first 6 seasons). In the first episode one of the rules for being a Ranger, is “never escalate a battle unless the forces you to”. As for the many teams that WEREN’T mentored by Zordon….
I love the Mario and Luigi RPG games. Great vid
31:00 Farmer Boots also exists in Paper Jam, they can be obtained from Shiny Paper Broozers at the same drop rate, however unlike in Dream Team, when you obtain them, it automatically gives you two of them, which makes it less tedious than having to farm it twice for both brothers
Rewatching this after the brothership hipe
Awesome video! There are a few things I'd like to add or mention:
•I'm genuinely surprised there's nothing on the iceberg about the character Yikk from Bowser's Inside Story, because I think he's one of the most intriguing characters in the whole franchise.
I love this series so much.
Edit: quote from the wiki:
"The Slingsniper does critical damage to Pi'illodactyls, Wiggler, Pi'illodactyl Rs, Pi'illodium, Grobot X, Torkscrew X, Mammoshka X, Dreamy Bowser and Pi'illodium X if it strikes them where a star mark appears, presumably indicating their weak spot."
a whole hour of M&L content? Truly a blessed piece of art
If I may add to the iceberg:
I can't remember where I heard it from (I think it was from Did You Know Gaming or a similar channel), but apparently in the first three games the Japanese OST names were always directly translated to English for localization.
It explains why some we got some weird OST names in English copies, usually the battle themes. Also explains why fans call certain tracks by different names. Some will say The Grand Finale (the official OST name that was used in the soundtrack release iirc), others say In The Final. Some say Tough Guy Alert (also part of the "official soundtrack"), others say They're Pretty Tough, Should We Be Careful? . The directly translated names came first though from what I remember
Also, I should mention the issue that the remakes present when trying to establish a track's name lol. In SS the boss theme is widely knowm as "Come on, Again" while in SSDX it's "We Can't lose" even the GBA version
And just a small thing, but a lot of people on UA-cam use the title " 'Final Battle' / 'Boss Battle' " when uploading the tracks or a remaster to UA-cam, even when the OST appears to have an official name or semi official/fanon name. The most notorious examples of this I can think of is the theme of Elder P Shroobs second phase. Its semi official name is "Another's Requiem"
The OSTs seem to have so much confusion around them that someone could probably make a whole video on them alone
Kamek also has been shown to know brouque madam in bowser jr’s journey
This deserves more views
I love the Mario and Luigi RPG series
This video was recommended to me today, and it’s funny seeing it and hearing “we may never get another game again” after the announcement of a new game in the direct this week. Wonder how the iceberg will evolve after its release!
8:18 it cannot be because Mario and Luigi are clearly scared of Birdo before her boss fight. The only reason they would is her explosive voice.
I assume after the voice of Birdo is used (ie: no longer trapped in Fawful's headgear or in the robots) it just goes back to the person it was stolen from.
