    Lightheadedness, weakness, dizziness, disorientation, sleep disturbances, are all indications to break a fast. Do not ignore what your body is telling you and do not force it.👍👍

      I can't go longer than 18-20 hours. Then my blood sugar drops so low I get very shaky! And my brain becomes stupid and I can't think straight. No diabetes. I was prediabetic but not any more.

    Dr. Mindy is so correct. I am 85, and have to be so careful with my diet. I can fast a little, but not like I used to. If I try to fast the way I did 10 years ago I can easily experience dizziness, etc and therefore have to start absorbing nourishment quickly. My days of wishing to be a James Bond look-a-like are gone.

    I'm 72 years old and healthy. I've been just fine with 16 hour intermittent fasting. So, I decided to try the 20 hour intermittent fasting. I lasted 3 days and was totally exhausted by the fourth day. So, I changed to 18 hour intermittent fasting and am just fine. With the 20 hour fasting, I also felt stressed about eating within that 4 hour window. I'm more comfortable with the 6 hour window and two meals a day. I know I won't be a good candidate for water fasting over long periods, but wish everyone else the best.

      It's great that you found a fasting schedule that works for you with 18-hour intermittent fasting and a 6-hour eating window. It's essential to listen to your body and choose a plan that suits your individual needs and comfort. Thank you for sharing your experience, and best wishes to others on their fasting journeys!

    My toughest time for fasting is usually between hours 20-30 Im a big fan of 30-40 hour fasts so far. I have only fasted 5 times so far first one was 41 hours in February. Now I have been coinciding them with Lent fridays for my first semi religious fasts. I plan to follow old Christianity in Fasting every Friday for the Year stopping eating around 9-10pm thursday and ending sometime in the morning Saturday. Todays was a 37 hour fast and feel great. I breakfast by taking magnesium a couple hours before breaking then have some himilayan salt water about 30-60minutes before I have some bone broth. The next thing I have is a steak or something, though I am trying to figure out the best timeframe for this next step. Im not perfect in what I do but it is steps forward and benefitting me mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am also on my Journey to find God which is more important then anything, not that I press this on others, simply finding my own way after 15 years of being lost. Im 30 now and starting to be happy with where I am at finally.

    Thanks so much for this. I'm doing my first 3 day water fast and go a little alarmed when my blood sugar was 3.2mmol/L in the morning especially when I googled "low blood sugar during fasting" and their cut-off was 4mmol/L. I felt OK, but took some MCT oil just in case. Now I know what #'s to stay within and what symptoms to watch for! I got your book as well. I'm so excited to see how I feel and how much healthier I can get! I was told to fast by my naturopath years ago and it didn't go well, so I had avoided it. But now I know that it was because I wasn't timing it to my cycle, so I'm loving eating ketobiotic along with fasting and then switching to lots of healthy carbs and being more restful during my nurture phase.

    So helpful! Thank you. I was attempting a 48 hour fast last week right before Day 19 of my cycle. I stopped 24 hours in as my BG dropped down to 66 (ketones were 3.2). I was concerned this was too low. Hence why I was looking for this video information. I am on day 21 now, so once Day 3 hits I am going to attempt a 48 hour fast again. I felt great and felt like I could have kept going, but the low BG number scared me. I am newly diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes so am still trying to navigate those waters and monitoring my BG. Hi Dr Mindy. I am so grateful for your book and videos. I had been intermittent fasting for almost 5 years before finding you. In the first year I lost 78 pounds with intermittent fasting and have kept it off using the same omad cycle. I noticed this past year that I started to creep up 1-10 and sometimes 15 pounds so it wasn’t working any longer. That is when I found you. Thankfully. Did my first 72 hour fast in December and lost 7 pounds with the guidance from your book and videos. Using the keto mojo and LMNT have been so important.
    Today I am 60 hours in to another 72 hour fast because the weight crept back up again with my normal omad fasting.
    At the 60 hour point my glucose was at 56 and ketones at 4.5. The GKI index is saying highest therapeutic level of ketosis. But I was dizzy, lethargic and very fatigued. Drank decaf with mct oil and feel a bit more grounded. Will check my numbers again in a few minutes to see if I need to break the fast.
    I needed this video this morning. I somehow missed the fasting snacks in the first 72 hour fast. Thank u! Thank u!
    Considering joining the acedemy because although I am not new to fasting and have had great success with it on my own, the weight creeping up with my protocol is something I want to understand. I know you recommended shifting it up. So will try that.
    Anyway. I wanted to thank you for your inspired leadership here. This is my way of life and I have reversed so many health concerns. At age 61 and feel better than I did on my 40s.
    ❤❤❤

      Wanda Howell on a video about vit D deficiency, I heard that for vit D3 supplement to be absorbed there needs to be fat in the stomach. Do you know how much can be absorbed w/o fat? I stopped the supplement while fasting. Levels, I wouldn’t think, would not be affected significantly for a few days.

    • @wandahowell4531
      @wandahowell4531 3 роки тому +1

      Jupitor Saturn Hi! I read this the other day.
      “It turns out that vitamin D is best absorbed with a low-to-moderate amount of fat, compared to no fat or lots of fat. Specifically, researchers have showed that 11 grams of fat leads to higher absorption than either 35 grams or 0 grams, at 16% higher and 20% higher respectively.” Hopefully Dr. Mindy will see this and help us both. I take mine with half an avocado each day. I’m switching to every other day and hopefully my labs will show higher vitamin d numbers. Best of luck to you.♥️🌟♥️🌟

I was set on a 72 hour water fast (distilled water with Himalayan salt & baking soda) & I feel fine. I decided to go another 24 hours. I’m good after that. I never knew about the blood sugar & ketones meter. I’ll get that too. I plan on a 72 hour fast at the beginning of every month. I’ll continue intermediate fasting & throw in some 24/48 hour fast too. 72 hour fast was pretty easy for me.

Every other day would work for a while I think a month she said it’s effective for but after that your body might get used to the routine and you might need to vary

      I practice OMAD since years ago being a gymnast, I do my workouts (6 days per week) during lasts 3 fasting hours daily, is the best timing for me.
      However, what I eat in that unique meal is paramount, this is a point mistaken by many people who just think that any timing can fix what they eat/do not eat, that is wrong. Timing improve things sure, because many hormones work differently in particular, but if you do not intake what your body needs (macros and micros both) your body will show problems soon or late even if you perform the best timing you can.

    I wonder why I get into deep ketosis so soon. Thank you for the companion guide. Using Keto Mojo I can't go longer than 24 hours. I'm currently at 19 hours of fasting and my glucose is 57 and ketones are 3.2 which gave me a GKI of 0.9. Some back round information is I did do a 24 dry fast before. I broke it with a ketobiotic meal. That was 19 hours ago. I did not test my glucose or Ketones during the 24 hour dry fast because I felt great and didn't want the numbers to worry me. I feel great now. I still have some inflammation in my body (which is the reason I am fasting) but my energy and mood are great. And I'm not hungry. I kind of miss the days before keto mojo blood testing. I listened to my body and I survived just fine. I did 5 days fast and I still went to work every day. I have never been overweight. My fast are always to combat my Ankylosing spondylitis and Crohn's disease (formally diagnosed as UC). If I went 3 days on a fast I know this flare would be gone completely but instead I eat when my blood sugar or ketones numbers get to a certain point.

    I'm currently doing 20hour fast still eat 1 meal plus small salad. However yesterday I saw an article for longer water fast. This doctor said according to the proved scientific test, should you be fasting for 3 days water fast. You may have small salad or anything under 500 calories. You body will still be in the fasted stage ( meaning that wouldn't kick you out of ketosis.

And my final meal of the day has to also contain carbs like brown rice or potatoe. I have been eating EXTREMELY healthy for the past few years, but I was prediabetic and insulin resistant most of my life, so I know this fasting adventure will take some time. I needed this video. I’m on a long fast to heal my gut and Hashimotos. I’m currently 172 hours in. I only planned on 5 days, but my numbers were safe and I felt great, plus I could tell my body was purging toxins so I wanted to push further. This morning on day 7, I woke up feeling light headed and had a headache. I immediately checked my readings. BG was 51 and ketones were 5.4. I knew I was in a danger zone and was prepared to break the fast. However I decided to drink my Redmond’s Re-lyte to see if it would help. 20 minutes later I felt fine.
    I have had diarrhea the past 3 days and thought that was really weird considering I haven’t eaten anything. I assumed my body was purging toxic gunk, plus there’s the body’s constant production of stomach fluids and bile that must go somewhere, even if they are unused.
    I am tired today, but think that’s probably normal. My limbs don’t feel heavy, I’m just tired. Without a doc monitoring me, I’m wondering when to stop? Should I just keep trucking until I hit those symptoms you mentioned and don’t find relief from electrolytes?

    • @1234lowkey
      @1234lowkey 2 роки тому

      You might be drinking too large quantities of electrolytes at once. That will be hard for your body to digest and cause diarrhea. It’s better to sip small amounts often throughout the day. Look into snake diet, it offers a good recipe to get all your electrolytes.

    Well it's too late for me to get a meter because I'm on day two, evening, heading to day three. I planned to see how it went and stop at 3, but if it's this easy, why not go for 5 since hubby is away and no pressure to cook. I was on keto higher fat and intermittent fasting before I found your wonderful channel, so I think that makes its easier. I did two 24 hour fasts first to see how I did then this one. I know my body so I don't have any worries so far and I'm not a glutton for punishment. It's far easier than I thought it would be. Yes, I have been a little hungry at lunch and dinner times but I drank a glass of water with salt and liquid minerals and it passed. Tonight I had to have a cup of black coffee as I really was craving a butter coffee. Do I really need to get a meter? I really don't think I can prick my finger every day and more than once! I do have strips but I know they are not really the best. I am doing this to see if I can correct chronic lower back pain, so longer would be better. I am so excited to have decided to try this since I was always against it for me. I don't like being hungry, lol :o)

The next morning I felt ok initially but then started feeling weak and was clammy and had pain across my upper chest and back. Started going down my arm and then tingling fingers. This happened very quickly. I did manage to eat some yogurt and blueberries but not much. I thought I was having a heart attack. I ended up calling 911 and my BP was 65/27 when the EMTs arrived. Not sure how low that can go but that was scary. They did a bunch of tests and found nothing other than dehydration. I believe that I did not add enough salt to my water that time. Now I am a bit afraid to do anything more than a 24. But I now keep track of added salt and also have some electrolytes going forward. Take care

I added electrolytes on the second and had some quality rest. The last 24 hours was not bad at all. I had the ketomojo and I was on 8.0 consistently. FOR NEXT time, I now know how to invest in a blood sugar monitor. The light headedness and fatigue was so bad a slight movement even laying down was uncomfortable. Then, I drank a glass of water followed by a glass of vegetable juice (I thought liquids might help) but started feeling REALLY nauseous...and, of course, I ended up vomiting. It was quite a strong bodily reaction. For some reason, I thought eating a banana would help get my blood sugar back to normal. Nope. Bad idea. I vomited again. Try going on a Keto diet for a couple weeks before the fast. 3 days is generally really easy, hunger is hard, on day 2 you need electrolytes but beyond this you shouldn't have heart palpations. Try adapting your body to ketones before the fast so your body is already adjusted to the fuel source. Try smaller fasts first as well. Build more metabolic flexibility before attempting a full switch. Chances are you have really high resting insulin and in the absence of regular sugar kicks, you are getting too low on sugar due to the excess insulin.
