One grey hair recently appeared in my head years after my husband passed away. Through stress and lots of ups and downs, myself and my girls are wearing similar size clothes. So sorry about your husband's passing away. I am 42 had about 4 grey hairs before I started fasting (about 8 weeks ago). The grey has all disappeared. Feels good actually.

I do a 3 day black coffee and water fast every six months but I’ve hit a plateau and suspect I need to up my game and do alternate days or something else. I’m OMaD for the rest of the time.

I planned to do a 30 days water fasting and broke my fast at day 24 because I was stuck at the same numbers on the scale for 3 consecutive days. I figured that something was wrong because I was losing atleast 1.5 pounds a day and then ended up at a plateau. I also missed my period for the said month I ended my fasting in. Hi, I am in the menopauze and 53 years...I daily take bio-identical progesteron 200mg and Oestrogel 60mg...which keep me balanced... Is it still necesary to go in and out of ketoses now and than? I follow the keto diet due to sugar imbalances and IBS Kind regards....
In a lot of cases, I think your body will just tell you. There's about a week every month or so when I'm so hungry, I'm about to eat the office supplies by noon. I just don't have the willpower to OMAD. But after 5-7 days, I can OMAD easily again. That works if counting doesn't work (because you're not that regular).
For me right before my period food is constantly on my mind. As soon as I get my period, day 2 I start to feel like a new woman. Lol. Can fast 24 hours no problem!

Thanks for the amazing videos. In another video you also say to avoid day 12-14 of the cycle for long fasts. But here you say it’s ok to block fast on days 1-21. Can you please clarify which is correct?
Healthy ways to strengthen your immune system👍👍 Don't smoke. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. Exercise regularly. Maintain a healthy weight. If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation. Get adequate sleep. Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
I am diabetic and depending on the fruit, it could send my Blood Sugar through the roof. So the eating part does not work for everyone. As far as everything else, I agree.
@@bibilove6277 I agree, everything except the diet part works for me in that list. I'm a carnivore and find that controls blood sugar beautifully. Dr. Saladino has said that in himself and his many clients experiences, carnivores who use a CGM get the most boring low flat line ever.

Don't fast during your period? That explains it. Im Muslim and when we fast for Ramadan women dont fast during their period. This explains why . I never knew why. Thank you

Very good question! I personally only heard of a correlation between fasting and stress in regards of the benefits of weight loss. It’s said that weight loss will stall even with fasting when your stress/cortisol level is high. Because fasting is a kind of stress factor to your body it might be counterproductive when adding this kind of stress to you stressed organism. I hope Dr. Mindy will cover this topic soon 👌🏼
I’m interested in the Dutch (?) test. My cycle is all over the place. Has been for decades because of PCOS, and even worse now that I’m menopausal. I’m also curious to know how to fast with mental health issues? I have PTSD and am not in a good place right now

Thank you for explaining this. I did several extended fasting last year, (I wasn’t aware of the 21-28 days back then) and I got 2 periods in a month, so I slowed down. This time I’m going back and wanted to do another extended fasting but my body seem weak so I had to cut it at 22 hours. I realize I’m in that time frame when I’m not supposed to do extended fasting.

I’m in the same boat. I’m only 5 weeks into my keto lifestyle. I have a lot of weight to lose. I’m confused and worried about stepping out of ketosis once a week. I’m also working up towards the 16:8 IF. I’m currently at 14:10, some days I can get up to 15:9. It is complicated, but trying to learn about it because I’m very worried about the impending hair loss. I already have thin/fine hair. How do I know which days to fast since I don’t have a cycle. My main goal is to achieve metabolic health ,Owen insulin and to lose weight. Finally, I found it! Post menopausal fasting & progesterone. Listening to Dr Mindy talk on hormones opened my eyes to the fact that my hormones have been messed my entire life. Never experienced a regular menstrual cycle. Always 35-48 days. I was told that it was just my body normal cycle & normal to me.

I am 69 and have practiced fasting always, just finished a 5 day fast but I never loose more than a pound or 1, more like a bit of lowering my stomach only. I am horribly obese but nothing works , I do omad rest of the time

I get the cycle counting confused, because I have seen some count at the end as day 1....so pardon me if I am assuming incorrectly, but day 1 is when you start bleeding, correct? If you are fasting while bleeding, how do you feel? I imagine the drop in iron makes one lethargic & fatigued while fasting?? I also was in ketosis & maybe deydrated, and had the WORST cramps of my life!! I want to try fasting during my cycle cuz I cramp so bad & feel like npt eating anything may help keep inflammation down, but usually have to take pain meds due to endometriosis & taking on it an empty stomach can ruin the gut and eat the lining of the stomach 😔
I’m confused. I’ve heard many of your videos and you say not to fast a week before your period. That’s day 15. Day 21 is the Friday before my period “week”. I am on birth control so it’s easy for me to know. So is it a week before or from 21-28?

The first time I did a 3 day water fast during day 19, menses came 2 days after I ended which is early. This 2nd time I did a 5 day water fast during day 14, it came on 3rd day of water fast which is too early. May I know what is wrong? Should I be concerned? And how can I improve to change this?
I am 48 and am on low dose progesterone only birth control pills. Because of that i never have a period. So i dont really know my cycle or if there is one.. I’m 27 years old leaning into this for metabolic and hormonal balance and over all wellness. 1ST Question: Does the phase “1-10” start the day we bleed? Hi I’m 53 and had my left thyroid removed about 10 yrs ago so I take thyroxine medication. I have had thermal ablation twice due to heavy periods and have not had a period for about 2 years now. If you cycle is shorter around 24 -25 days should you still go till day 21 with the fasts and ketosis or should you reduce that limit to to around day 17

Thoughts on previously had breast cancer at 41, 48 now think I’m peri menopause. I was estrogen progesterone cancer lead, so those extra hormones always scare me. Lynn, I believe you need do it more frequently like every month or two. If you can do a 72 hours fast then every quarter is fine.

I'm currently doing rolling 48's and 72's with clean eating refeeds. I feel like a new person. Also not one headache or hotflash since starting.
Sounds like a great plan i would like to try. Is your refeed just one meal and then right back on the fast?

Thanks for the amazing videos. In another video you also say to avoid day 12-14 of the cycle for long fasts. But here you say it’s ok to block fast on days 1-21. Can you please clarify which is correct?

Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables.
Exercise regularly.
Maintain a healthy weight.
If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
Get adequate sleep.
Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
I am diabetic and depending on the fruit, it could send my Blood Sugar through the roof. So the eating part does not work for everyone. As far as everything else, I agree.
@@bibilove6277 I agree, everything except the diet part works for me in that list. I'm a carnivore and find that controls blood sugar beautifully. Dr. Saladino has said that in himself and his many clients experiences, carnivores who use a CGM get the most boring low flat line ever.

I never hear anyone talk about how you fast/eat for your cycle when you are someone with an IUD or PCOS (irregular periods) - if your cycle is 30-85 days...how do you do that?

Hi Dr Mindy, I thought I was in Menopause due to not having a period for 1 year. I'm 44. I started my regular cycle. I stopped 2 months ago progesterone Thyroid and my weekly shot of Testesterone. I started Berberine to help my insulin. I think everything I'm doing has helped.

This is my first time ever fasting in cycle days 21-28😢 I am so scared now. I will be 29 Thursday. I don’t have any kids yet. I am going to follow up with my obgyn next month.

I'm down to eating once a day regularly (not a reset, just daily life). I find that the more carbs you get rid of, the easier fasting becomes.

What if I got a hysterectomy
Very good question! I personally only heard of a correlation between fasting and stress in regards of the benefits of weight loss. It’s said that weight loss will stall even with fasting when your stress/cortisol level is high. Because fasting is a kind of stress factor to your body it might be counterproductive when adding this kind of stress to you stressed organism. I hope Dr. Mindy will cover this topic soon 👌🏼

Thank you for explaining this. I did several extended fasting last year, (I wasn’t aware of the 21-28 days back then) and I got 2 periods in a month, so I slowed down. This time I’m going back and wanted to do another extended fasting but my body seem weak so I had to cut it at 22 hours. I realize I’m in that time frame when I’m not supposed to do extended fasting.
Had no idea how fasting impacts a woman's cycle. My body just cannot do it from 21 - 28.
But I must say for the past 2 months my period has been very easy & kind on me. No migraine. No cramps. I feel happy actually

I’m in the same boat. I’m only 5 weeks into my keto lifestyle. I have a lot of weight to lose. I’m confused and worried about stepping out of ketosis once a week. I’m also working up towards the 16:8 IF. I’m currently at 14:10, some days I can get up to 15:9. It is complicated, but trying to learn about it because I’m very worried about the impending hair loss. I already have thin/fine hair. Ugh, so the big question is how do I make sure I’m still losing weight at a decent pace and keep my hair?!?!?

The doctor left my ovaries in so that I can still go into menopause. However, I do not get any more periods. How do I know which days to fast since I don’t have a cycle. My main goal is to achieve metabolic health ,Owen insulin and to lose weight. I recently saw your video that in order to achieve that I should do a 36 hour fast once a week. Finally, I found it! Post menopausal fasting & progesterone. Listening to Dr Mindy talk on hormones opened my eyes to the fact that my hormones have been messed my entire life. Never experienced a regular menstrual cycle. Always 35-48 days. I was told that it was just my body normal cycle & normal to me.
I am interested in the Dutch testing and the weight loss fast. I have been intermittent fasting off and on for over 5 years and am considering going omad, but want to known where my hormones are at.
You mention the "5-1-1" in your chart : 5 days of fasting and then 1 day of feasting. What is the other "1" day?
I saw another video.
It's 5 days of intermittant fasting which is 13-15 hours (I hardly think 13 hours is fasting but anyhow), 1 day of feasting and 1 day of 24 hour fast.

@@titania145 try to do alternate day fasting. It's my favorite fast. I do 40 hrs fast with alternate day fasting and I lost 50# so far. I still have over 100lbs to lose

I get the cycle counting confused, because I have seen some count at the end as day 1....so pardon me if I am assuming incorrectly, but day 1 is when you start bleeding, correct? If you are fasting while bleeding, how do you feel? I imagine the drop in iron makes one lethargic & fatigued while fasting?? I also was in ketosis & maybe deydrated, and had the WORST cramps of my life!! I want to try fasting during my cycle cuz I cramp so bad & feel like npt eating anything may help keep inflammation down, but usually have to take pain meds due to endometriosis & taking on it an empty stomach can ruin the gut and eat the lining of the stomach 😔
I’m confused. I’ve heard many of your videos and you say not to fast a week before your period. That’s day 15. Day 21 is the Friday before my period “week”. I am on birth control so it’s easy for me to know. So is it a week before or from 21-28?

The first time I did a 3 day water fast during day 19, menses came 2 days after I ended which is early. This 2nd time I did a 5 day water fast during day 14, it came on 3rd day of water fast which is too early. May I know what is wrong? Should I be concerned? And how can I improve to change this?

I am 48 and am on low dose progesterone only birth control pills. Because of that i never have a period. So i dont really know my cycle or if there is one.. I do 16 hr IF daily but my weight loss has stopped for a long time. I feel good but still would like to lose more. I probably have 15 lbs to go to be comfortably lean. I’m thinking going to 24 fast or omad to get things moving. When in my “non” cycle should i do that and how often?

1ST Question:
Does the phase “1-10” start the day we bleed? So while we are on our period we can fast longer fasts and eat ketobolic?? Or does day 1 start the day our bleed ends?
2ND Question: What counts as “breaking a fast”? Since fast isn’t necessarily only water, seeing “fasted snacks” etc. What defines a fast and what defines breaking a fast??

1st Answer: The first day of your cycle or Day 1 is the first full bleed day. This is also Phase 1 (days 1-10). Be sure to re-read about the fasting length and the ketobiotic guidelines.

Hi I’m 53 and had my left thyroid removed about 10 yrs ago so I take thyroxine medication. I have had thermal ablation twice due to heavy periods and have not had a period for about 2 years now. I have noticed that I have put on a lot of weight round my middle and find it really difficult to lose weight. Please could I have a list of what to eat and when to fast and how. If you cycle is shorter around 24 -25 days should you still go till day 21 with the fasts and ketosis or should you reduce that limit to to around day 17

I am 38 years old women - I have been doing intermittent fasting anywhere from 13 to 15 to 17 hours, and I like it very much. I’m just wondering around my 21 days cycle should I completely stop fasting ?
Use my book, Fast like a Girl as a guide to adapt the phases to your personal cycle. This will let you know when you are in your nurture phase and progesterone does not want you fasting as she wants your glucose to be a little higher in that time. 👍
Thoughts on previously had breast cancer at 41, 48 now think I’m peri menopause. I was estrogen progesterone cancer lead, so those extra hormones always scare me. My period now ranges between 24-35 days 😢. Been doing fasting off and on for a few weeks, downloaded your book FAST LIKE A GURL on audible, but im living your UA-cam. Am I ok doing this? Sorry if this is a stupid question: I’ve always counted day 1 of my cycle as the first proper bleed. If I’m hearing you correctly, you’re calling the day of bleeding day 20. Am I right? I just want to clarify as I have read ‘Fast like a girl’ and want to do a proper fasting reset. Thank you.
Day 1 is the day you bleed. Nurture phase is Day 20 until you bleed.
