Hit that Like Button if you Learned Something or Enjoyed the talk! Thanks to Acuity and Pawinn for making the time for me, and thanks to Eddy for letting me use his Type R as a video Tester. Let me know what you think of the shifter, especially if you've had the opportunity to use one.
Hahaha I can totally relate to the Si feeling like mashed potatoes, and that's why I went to town on mine to button everything up to the point where it feels nothing like a stock Si anymore, but I can still Daily it very easily. Acuity's Short Shifter is one of the Top 3 modifications I've done to mine 💯
What else is in your top3? I just did my D2s/spc camber arms, and my rv6 rear sway bar & end links are in route to button up the rear. I was thinking acuity shifter next, then save 2k for 27wonIC/pipes/ktuner/intake and do all 3 at once since I'm going the ktuner route. *forgot I have my awe touring in route as well. U think saving 2k and doing those 3 upgrades at once is the right way, or do the ktuner, then IC->intake to feel the difference?
I also haaaaate short shifters and I drove the Type R home from The Glen and I absolutely loved it!!! Didn’t miss a gear and I felt super comfortable and I never thought I’d say that😳
I just met Pawinn for some R&D on my 9th gen Accord 6MT and he’s a really cool dude. He let me feel the Acuity short shifter in his 10th gen civic si and it was absolutely NUTS. This video was cool to watch since I’ve been following you for a while now and don’t think I’ve watched it before.
I still believe that the civic si is still the bang for the buck and I'm not saying it just because I have one I'm saying it because the fact of the matter is that you get enough performance and a all around car for 10,000 to 12,000 dollars
Looking forward to the install video. I'm an engineer not just by profession or training, but by heart. Would love to see and figure out the mechanical workings. I put an RTD shifter in my e36M and liked it, but it was quite simple and had no real adjustability. Would have removed it before sale if I had loved it.
Short shifters suck. Short THROW shifters are badass. I put a cheap AutoZone short THROW shifter in my Integra almost 18 years ago and it’s still in there today over 250K miles later. Stock shift knob sits at stock height, but shift throws are just like flick flick back and forth, maybe 3/4” to 1” forward or backward from neutral. I love how it feels, WAY better than my Miata stock shifter.
Want to get one for my FK8. Which kit, exactly, do you recommend? I think I saw one for roughly $450’ish (on sale) is that the kit? Also, am in MA, any good enthusiast shops that would do the install. This install is likely outside of my realm.
haha its really not that bad. but I think the si got knocked down a peg once the Type R came to the US. It used to be a serious machine. Now its just a small step up from the standard car.
@@TedwardDrives curious, which Si gen(s) would you consider serious machines? The 10th’s powertrain is boring but chassis and suspension are pretty good compared to prior gens, from what I could tell from a couple drives. I owned a 9th gen and always desired more. I now own an FK8.
I have a 2018 CTR and i use it as a daily for LA (Flame me for it, i love the car either way) I sit in alot of traffic. Because its so stop and go how is it for traffic driving? Was thinking about swapping the stock to this
Thats the first dope type R one ever seen japanese always have best shit but some times they dont last very long or is that china things i get them mixed up

Awesome video Tom! So glad you enjoyed the shifter 😎. Gonna wrap up my install video this week 🤙
I really dig having the mechanism exposed! Super cool to see how it works.
Also, THIS DASHCAM IS RECORDING
that dashcam makes me yell

The type R's isn't that short. But yeah the trans is good for daily-ing.
Love the x-ray vision, looks and sounds really solid

Pawinn is the best!
I love what was done.clean, tech..looks the business..the knob colour isn’t my taste but holy crap I love that car..
Awesome video !!! 🔥🙌😎 love the input on the acuity shifter !!!

Your thought process will change once you drive a type R. The R is a whole different animal.
Yea bro it’s trash compared to
Type r 😭every si owner says the same . It’s not enough performance it’s slow
HONDA THE POWER OF DREAMS!!

Spoiler alert - I have the shortest ;)
I've only seen these kits without the covers and parts back on. Nice to know the car shifts better but did not address if the redress up issue.
I'm not sure I understand...everything just goes back together and looks normal aside from the lever.

Is the Acuity Shifter as good or Better than the Ktuner version???
What kind of exhaust does this have? Sounds a bit better than stock. Also nice copilot
bone stock, although the cat has pretty much burned itself to pieces
wasnt this on 18"s?
why'd he move back to 20"s?
anyways great vid as always!
18s are the track wheels and tires...20s are the street setup (for now).
So how do you deal with speed bumps with that kit 👀
Slowwwwly at and angle
Yiiikes...
Just when I thought the Type R couldn't look more ridiculous, this shows up... 🤔

so does the shifter eliminate the console?
Nope
@@TedwardDrives I never see it installed when people upgrade
@@jimmywoods1906 i installed my console back together afterwards. I can careless to see the mechanism. I have my receipt as a reminder…
Him resting his hand on the shift lever bothers me
talks about the quality of a Si but drives a 90's BMW lmao......
I drive a 2010 m3. What?
Who wants to drive a car without their arm rest and console though? And no shift boot? I'm out.
You weren't paying attention were you? He said those things were removed to show the shifter and all that come with it.
haha dude we just left that off so you could see the shifter in the video.
You need to listen more🤣
