Donna could have this concert anywhere. At the Apollo in Harlem it would have been 98% black. But, she chose to sing her first live concert to almost an all white audience. She was one very talented lady who certainly left her mark in the music industry. I was very saddened by her death seven years ago. She was one of the most talented women singers of her era, better known as the Disco Queen. I remember hearing this song just about every day in 1978 when I was getting ready for school. This song shows her vocal range so well that one would never know that she was covering a song originally sung by a man.

In 1980, she felt a great need to go back to her Christian roots and didn't let hollywood tell her what to do or sing and didn't care to know what she won for awards, the competition, etc. ...which hollywood likes to shun when that is in a person they think is in the palm of their hands. She also had told them that she was there to sing.
She began singing in church when she was eight-years-old...
"I opened my mouth and this voice just shot out of me. It shocked me and it shocked everyone in the room. I started crying and everyone in the room started crying. There is no doubt in my mind that God gave me this voice." -LaDonna Gaines (Donna Summer)

This is a middle aged woman doing something that most pop singers now in days couldn't do no madder how hard they tried. Honestly I just wish she was still with us#RIP talented Angel❤

Donna Summer is the most versatile female that ever recorded. I have been a fan of hers since 1976. When she sings live she sounds like the original recording or better. No one can sing her songs. Her vocals have always been outstanding. Donna Summer ranks #6 in worldwide record sales selling an estimated 180 million records. I am saddened that it will be 10 years this year 2022 that she passed away on May 17th 2012.

She however stands high in the pantheon of legendary music icons. We are fortunate that the music she left behind will be with us for eternity for future generations. RIP. Donna, you were simply a bright star that time will never diminish xx
