@@bleugate He sounds different even in other live version, I think seeing how many of his songs are more traditional country, he changes his tone alot, obviously this performance stands out as his best.
I downloaded the video then converted to mp3 just because this version is amazing.
Hot damn! That boy is an old soul with heart. Brought a tear. Thank God for him.
I rarely ever listen to country music, and I'm extremely picky with it when I do, because it's not a genre I'm typically a fan of, but I heard a 10 second clip of this on Facebook, and immediately had to look it up. This is a flawless and beautiful song
His voice doesn’t sound like it should exist. It’s incredible.
Never has he tasted a cough drop
His only cough syrup is whiskey
Colds are scared of him
How are there artists as phenomenal as this man is and not be on every "country" station in the nation... If the name of the type of music actually played the music it claimed to be then we would hear awesome music like this on them.. It's a lie to even call some of the songs they play country... Long live the king Hank Williams Jr.
Leaving this comment so my kids know i was dope af
I literally cannot listen to any other version of this song. Hands down the best, even better than album.
AMEN!
He really gets into it.
I'm with you.
Ya, this is better & SO IMPRESSIVE....he should do more kick drum & guitar solos. Powerful.
Yeah, very disappointed with the album rendition
He's the best thing to ever come out of Canada
Guess you've never heard of Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot?
Better than round bacon?
The way he plays the guitar is as powerful as his voice amazes me
One of the greatest songs I've ever heard. Powerful, passionate, and heartbreaking. A perfect murder ballad. I love this guy.
With no comparison at all, just out of a common love of murder ballads: Have you heard Sierra Ferrell - Rosemary?
Listen to some Chris Knight
This man is among the best at killin songs
And he kills em all
@@basstrammel1322Sierra is another great musician we have right now! Both doing fantastic things for country
@@basstrammel1322no..but I will
Anyone listening to this song still?
He’s definitely my favorite artist
Love it
Ofc. Best forever 💖💖💖
'Still'? It's like four years old... (in 2021...)
@@tonfiselier1818 idc it still slaps
@@lawdawg3740 Oh, it does. But it's not that old. Not old enough to wonder if people are 'still' listening to it.
I'm hearing this song for the first time. It's hitting into and through every cell into the depths of my bones and being. This is absolutely exceptionally done.
When JC died i was filled with regret that i had discovered him late in my life and never seen him live but this lad is unreal , what a voice
Colter Wall:
(Smokes cigarettes)
Gets amazing singing voice
Me:
(Smokes cigarettes)
Gets emphysema
Lmfao I’ve been smokin em for a while now they ain’t changed nothing for me and I never expected em to. They just made it harder to hit notes and to hold em. Ruins your voice.
The magic in his voice doesn't come from cigarettes. It comes from vocal training and his diaphragm
The comment I read in a while
Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa
@@changedpace9169 yea but it’s still funny right
1,000 dislikes from the McCannon family.
made me laugh out loud
Lmao
+5000 points for this one
The dislikes are from the lefty snowflakes because of where he comes from. He’s premier Brad Wall’s son
LOl - That's really the only thing that makes sense.
Anybody else notice that he’s foreshadowing with the beat/guitar???
“Then I put three rounds into Kate McCannon…”
*boom boom boom* just like we heard in earlier verses. GENIUS
This guy sounds better than any mainstream country singer today! Absolutely amazing!
Thats cause country sucks, but this dude kicks ass!
Did anyone else realize that after the last line he mentioned “...three rounds...,” and in the outro he made an unannounced and precise three drum kicks? This guy is a fantastic song writer/story teller. It only took me 4 times hearing to realizing it.😂
It actually sounds like he does four
The whole song has drum beats in 3s
I must have another listen now :D
My best friend had a 4 runner in highschool and those three drum kicks hit the bass in that car better than any vehicle you could play this in. When those 3 hits played we would bang on the dash board so hard n go absolute nuts. I’d pay every dollar in my pocket to relive those simple times
@@krazykarl2413 The world is your oyster.
Country music had needed someone like him again for a long time. Hard to listen to other country music after listening to him.
I’ve got colter and Chris Stapleton in my country repertoire and that’s it
I wouldn’t call this country, this is like old school western folk music
@@dillonchamberlainneed to at Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Whiskey Myers and Red Southhall
@@chrispotter3190exactly. It’s not country, your description is very accurate. It’s outlaw western cowboy murder ballads
western not country😮
Before my son died, we exchanged music ,will never be the same.
😢
Joe rogan pod with post Malone brought me here. They were raving about it and I can see why. Impressive
Dear Canada,
You've redeemed yourself after Justin Bieber.
Especially with Colter, and Orville Peck, AND The Dead South? We can forgive Bieber.
Thanks!
I don't know about all that... But I have more respect for them at least...
dear bigot, justin bieber is the biggest male pop artist on the planet with 3000x this guys net worth. go fuck yourself. from canada.
@@wade2bosh Bieber's still trash. The fact that teenage girls have awful taste doesn't change that.
Well the raven is a wicked bird
His wings are black as sin
And he floats outside my prison window
Mocking those within
And he sings to me real low
It's hell to where you go
For you did murder Kate McCannon
When I first met Tom McCannon
I was working in the mines
Said he had himself a dark haired daughter
With long, green eyes
When she and I did meet
She was bathing in the creek
Prettiest girl in the whole damn holler
That ain't no lie
So I went a courtin' Kate McCannon
Got me a job and I quit my ramblin'
And every day I'd save
A quarter of my pay
I could buy a diamond ring
Lord and one day I come home to find
My darlin' angel's not inside
So I made for the creek
Where she and I did meet
And found her with some other lover
And I put three rounds into Kate McCannon
Damn so powerful!
Long green lines
Lone green eyes
Yea but did he shoot the dude? I demand kate mccannon part 2 haha
Jesus Christ loves you
First time today hearing about this guy what an crazily amazing voice for such a young man.
This song actually tells a story unlike newer country music and this man's voice is unmatched
Colter: And I put 3 rounds into Kate McCannon
Me: You gotta do what you gotta do
Colter: And i put 3 rounds into kate McCannan.
Me: What'd you do with the other 3?

Had them just incase her lover decided he was feeling froggy ;)
The only logical choice 🤣
lol What a great thread.
Don’t question colter
imagine sounding like Johnny Cash, but looking like David Spade
Wonder where the sandman is🤣🤣
A little bit like Post Malone too
more like the country version of post malone
Don't need to look like David Beckham with a voice and musical prowess like that.
It's actually Dirte. The e is silent.
I can play this now and I’m still blown away. He was 21 when he did this and his playing is so effortless and perfect for the song. It’s just incredible
OH. MY. GOSH. HOLY CRAP THIS FELLA'S UNBELIEVABLE. WOW. FRICK'N IMPRESSIVE. Never heard of him until a moment ago when he came up on my Pandora. Great Scot Man. His voice damn sure gets your attention. Good Lord. Way to go Colter. Thanks for sharing your gift to the world. Infinitely appreciated.🤠
Just finished watching this 7 times in a row
Dude you gotta bump those numbers up Hahah it's the 2nd month for me 🤣
Iv lisind to it 11 times
This is 1000× better than the studio version.
Breweries will always have better acoustics than sound proof recording studios.
Brandon Patterson fer sure
Simply amazing. Johnny Cash and Stevie Ray Vaughn now sing as one. Beautiful.
Listening from the UK. I liked this video the very first moments I heard it. It's a true masterpiece in all respects. 10 out of 10
If this ain't a fucking mood.
Everytime he brings the kick drum back in I get chills.
Such a tune 🤩👌
Yaaaas queen. Issa mood
Hell yes!
i have the most genuine head rock when he starts that up haha

This is a fucking masterpiece .... From the voice .... To the way he strums the guitar ... From the storyline ... Starts out by telling people he is in prison already .. Then goes on to tell how he ended up there.... Then when he found her with another lover the long pause with the strums getting heavier like anger ... To the three booms for the three rounds .... Its a masterpiece... you can feel the pain with his voice ...
Love his voice
It's a country voice
Stand up....for this country!!!
💯
Best damn, real damn blue collar song written in the past decade. Thank you ol' son for my new coming home on Friday late afternoon song.
There is no debate.
This is one of the top 10 of songs ever written from any age in humanity’s history.
This song is one I would show aliens to showcase humanities musical talent.
damn Colter sounds like he's been drinking whiskey for 40 years. Hell of a voice man.
Man that 3 rounds into Kate McCannon line got me experiencing all kinds of chills down my actual spinal column.
Jesus Christ loves you
You wanna get high?
And the way the guitar builds there, really good. only thing I add sometimes when I play is 3 whacks on the guitar body after the the line ends. It's cheesy maybe but he did something special, made real art here.

This young man is far and away beyond his years. Definitely an old soul and he's going places. The Supreme shit. Love this young man's music.
Thanks for this song J.Rogan...
Am I the only one that did not expect that voice?
Hunter Martin no holy crap this voice gave me chills
looked at him and thought what's this going to be, and then he made me stun for the whole 4 minutes..
Oh my goodness me tooo!! Love that it was different from what I was expecting. He would be a great chair tuner on 'The Voice' for sure.
I heard his songs on Pandora before I seen his videos...I pictured a much older and worn out man...very surprised.
the voice of 10 men!
Damn only 22, and sounds like he is at least 60, and barely survived a rough life...How the hell can a young man have a voice like that?
Genes
Cigars
Had the same thinking
Because you are 22 and barely made it alive...
He had to sacrifice 37 virgins and snort the ashes of the devils ex wife
Who was here before Joe Rogan?

Who’s Joe Ro?
The gorilla king you mean?
What about him?
I'm here because I've been listening to a bunch of live country and folk music so the algorithm brought me here
Who else got put onto this by watching JRE with post Malone & now is into this genre of music
It's been 4yrs since this masterpiece was uploaded. And it's the best live performance I've ever seen put to UA-cam. Some give this man an Award or something.
My 14 year old started playing colter songs i thought id have a listen and a look i had never heard of him .. speechless! What a voice and his songs just go through your soul ..we love his music ❤️
It's a good performance, but "best ever?"
@@johnqpublic2718it's pretty wonderful. What's better?
@@pbplauralfilms What's better? look up Dave Matthews Band covering All Along the Watchtower live at Central Park. I like Colter, and this is definitely a good song, but it's not even remotely close to the best live performance ever, IMO.
Also check out Eva Avila's cover of Great Gig in the Sky, or Dave Draiman (Disturbed) covering Sound of Silence, live.
This songwriter is already a legend at 27. I get goosebumps. Every song.
I agree 👍 💯
Imagine this voice at 50
He's just 21 in this video too
He sold his soul I'm convinced having a voice thos powerful isn't just genes its forged through a life of things from a time we don't live in anymore absolutely amazing
Can’t wait to show my kids this song. Such a bold masterpiece, and just honestly a staple for 2023
Little known fact: Colter Wall is 18 ft tall. Now the voice fits.

I hear he wears a live rattlesnake as a condom.
He taught me how to love a woman and how to scold a child
I once saw him scissor kick Angela Landsbury.
He date raped David Bowie.
