First time I heard this song I liked their vocals they are magical, when I sing a good one a energy from my feet straight out of my head goes through me there is a energy a magic in music. I also play guitar and if you can sing and play it's a different energy. This song is pure gold! The Dead South absolutely nails it with 'In Hell I'll Be In Good Company.' The blend of bluegrass, folk, and that dark, catchy rhythm creates such a unique and unforgettable sound. The visuals in the music video perfectly complement the haunting yet playful vibe of the song. It’s one of those tracks that sticks with you long after it’s over. Absolutely love it! 🎻🔥

Lot of talent still, !!! You won't hear it on the radio, good music must be watered down edited out polished up until all the good, grit and true awesomeness from the song is gone, then it's fit for the public, it's bullshit
Absolutely love this song. Just the bloke using his cello as a base guitar is awesome, but the understated overall badassery of the lyrics, the switching between singer with such different styles and the fact that these guys seem to have so much pure fun with the music just brings it home.
@@robertcrocker9785 It is actually a cello. Danny Kenyon is listed as a cellist/vocalist. His method of playing the cello in this video is called pizzicato, where the string is plucked with the fingers rather than using a bow. Danny does play his cello with a bow for some Dead South songs though.
lyrics: Dead Love couldn't go no further, Proud of and disgusted by her, Push shove, a little bruised and battered Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you. Me and my friends just came back from a trip round the peak district... This was the song for that trip. What a holiday, singing this round the campfire ❤
Back last year when you had folks video them doing your walk to this music....my 80 year old Ma did it, we were going to send it in, but she passed away less than 3 weeks later. She LOVED you guys and your music, she really liked it towards the end, we even played the albums over and over for her. She went to meet her maker with your music accompanying her. On a personal note, THANK YOU so much for helping her be happy her last few months, I will always be appreciative and grateful 🙏
One of many unforgettable songs by some of the nations best songwriters. I got to watch Zoe while Carla taught a clogging class once. What a privilege!
I LOVE THIS!! I Loathe “earworms”, but this one is totally welcome there. “The whistle stays in my head rent free.” - I will remember this comment for ever....
I just love how a new generation of artists is creating a vibrant and meaningful Bluegrass for a new time and place. This is happening all over the country and the world. So great for us music lovers. Also, I agree, great dance moves.
The more I hear the second guy sing the worse it seems, why is he faking a country accent in some words and no in others?! It’s so bad like nails on chalkboard at this point
I love how simple this music video is. Because with its simplicity, it’s by far and away better than most other music videos with much more monetary production value.

I was going to say the exact same thing, he has a strap. Plus they aren't that that heavy, I have held some basses made of resin that are normal looking but really heavy. Heavier than a baby cello.
GreenDrank82 you held them like guitar? "Baby" chello still has 3 kilos (or 10 pounds) that is not that easy to have with strap on for longer period of time
Positively some of the best finger snapping ever incorporated into a song...only heard this song 5000 times, and it's still just as good as it was the first time....great job!
I was a shite finger snapper until I has watched this vid about 50 times. Now, at least, i can do it not terribly. I'll keep watching and practicing...
Perfectly explained. I've come back to this video (and the live performance with cracking the beers on beat lol) so many times. At many different stages in my life I've heard this the past 7 years or so. Each time I'm blown away. Just one of those timeless songs that doesn't get old.
This song llike ocomotive breath You catch wife fucking another dude and don't even stop. Fuck that shit we all going out the box. I wouldn't go that route but I understand.
Catching your girl with another dude I don't think I would ever go this route. Killing her him and myself. But I understand because I been there. Locomotive breath is a good one by Jethro Tull. He caught girl with best friend and couldn't even stop. You caught me but about to nut ,hold up.
This is one of those songs I play when I've had a really crap day, it brings a smile to my face every time. The simplicity, melody and vocals are brilliant.
BRAVO !
It reminded me of the lead singers from The Steeldrivers (bluegrass band). They're first frontman left, but dang if the guy who stepped in for him didn't sound almost bang-on like him. :)
found this group by accident but I have to say I actually have fell in love with this band I normally listen to heavy metal and rockabilly but damn it man they rock and that banjo and cello is amazing keep up the great work guys

Banjo & bass? 2 years after you wrote this, now all you hear is BnB, everywhere. Well, they still play trap, too. That's been around for 25 years and counting. I'm alarmed at the popularity of banjo, though. The bagpipers will want to be next. They're already discussing hybrid bagpipaccordions. Like a musette that sounds like bagpipes. Then when you bring in the banjo, they hardly even notice. That's why I'm surprised this song started with the bass and then BOOM - banjo. But it works, even though the costumes and band name seem to straddle the line between homage and parody. It's a hella catchy song, irregardless
While I like the voice, and every human being of course experiences pain, you can have the most painful life ever and sound ordinary, or sound ragged without having gone through exceptional pain. There is practicing (and imitating) and biology involved.

what a madlad... in the music industry it's called pizzicato and it's been a way of playing for a long long time. They even do this with violins and all kinds of stringed instruments. Impressive and great sounding playingstyle nevertheless A little wikipedia citing: "The first recognised use of pizzicato in classical music is found in Tobias Hume's Captain Humes Poeticall Musicke (1607), wherein he instructs the viola da gamba player to use pizzicato ('thumpe')."
It’s a bass when you play it like that. Every single bluegrass band in the South worth a damn has one. This tune could use a little fiddle, not a violin.

After I count down, three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company.

Banjo & bass? 2 years after you wrote this, now all you hear is BnB, everywhere. Well, they still play trap, too. That's been around for 25 years and counting. Then when you bring in the banjo, they hardly even notice. That's why I'm surprised this song started with the bass and then BOOM - banjo.

About 25 years ago a good friend, who was a huge John Denver fan, died from melanoma from exposure in the Marine Corps.
His family was from West Virginia and we attended his funeral deep in the hills outside of Morgantown.
The women of this little church sung this with such heartfelt sorrow that we cried for days.
Condolences my guy. Cancer sucks, Bro Hymn by Pennywise is my version of that for my grandpa

Man this song is impossible not to whistle to after hearing it...
Alec Fleming I read it while whistling

Don't forget yonder mountain string band and greensky bluegrass and last but not least Billy strings. You cam thank me later. Lol. For the love of music I share these.

That's true I first heard this song a little over a year ago. and lost it when one of my devices quit working. and then I recently found it again and the same thing happened. where the song gets in in you're head and stays there. it's amazing because their using only two instruments Cello and a Banjo. I think it's because it's just a good solid melody?
lol, you´re right ...god damn ...not complaining though xD
Never heard it before, not a listener of the genre, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun. Really digging it. Thank you gentlemen, definitely enjoyed it. Thank you.
Damned if this ain't got Sumptin!
Heard it on the Umbrella Academy, n I have to download!
Impressed Truely!
In my experience, people don't dislike country as much as they think they do. Usually, folks' only experience with country is the, "bro country," from like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, etc... Country music can be amazing, but it has to be somethin made with love.
@@sassycassgames3158 I have to say, yeah I like Florida Georgia line!
And also, the Ladies who show up to Two step at the Brandin Iron!
They show up fine, n They know what They are looking for, n it ain't no long haired Rocker!
Am I actually starting to grow up?

I don't think it matters what your genre is,when a song is this good you can't deny it.
I play this on site at work. Within a couple of days, i can have pretty much the whole site singing along, a great tune.
For some reason I am completely drawn to this song. The music, lyrics and the way the video is filmed is simply awesome. Would love to hear you guys in person.
I was one of the lucky ones to see them live - all I can say is - bloody fab. You've got to see them. I'm just waiting for them to come back.

Admit it , its the dance moves!
Believe it or not, the music is taken from an old Albanian song. Of course they added more elements, but original is from 60’s Albanian music.
@@Impostor82 Did they have to smuggle it out in a ziploc baggie?

For me it's the Bass players amazing hair growth.
the "Dead South" is a really amazing band, i hopefully listened to all their songs on youtube and never heard one i didn't like. you guys rock! also coming from a metal head!
🤘 music has no barriers man
There are so many groups that do not fit into set defining titles. Such as shame because these little known groups kick out such great music. In my opinion, better than the set group of artists that music company heads push on us.
Same for me. Mainly a metal head but this is cool
You just KNOW these guys packed some Led Zep in the high school chicken wrap "meal deal".
I am glad you popped back in,
I still play my Indigenous American Flute

Happy Remembrance Day Canada.
I wish I could listen to your very special version of this amazing song! Many greetings from Germany! :-)))
@@JuttaMariaKruger I will see if I can do it if I get Dead South's permission as least as a short. Thank you.

Dead love couldn't go no further
Proud of, and disgusted by her
Push, shove, a little bruised and battered
Oh Lord, I ain't coming home with you
My life's a bit more colder
Dead wife is what I told her
Brass knife sinks into my shoulder
Oh babe, don't know what I'm gonna do
I see my red head, messed bed, tear shed, queen bee, my squeeze
The stage it smells, tells
Hell's bells, missspells, knocks me on my knees
It didn't hurt, flirt, blood squirt, stuffed shirt, hang me on a tree
After I count down three rounds, in Hell I'll be in good company
