He could smoke a brisket just by speaking to it.
Hahahah 😂 laughing to hard at this lol good shit
Hahahaha. Amazing
Dude, have a like.
And make a glass of whiskey pour itself
😂😂😂😂😂
Colter sounds like a black and white photo.
so true
With a deadpan stare
"Grainy".....a grainy black white photo....there i fixed for you...LoL
Walking in a saloon with two Colt 45s on his hips...
This is the greatest comment I have ever read on the internet. Congrats sir
So fortunate to have talent like Colter Wall and guys like Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson etc. Giving their efforts to keep this dying music alive!
could you suggest more artist?
check out Ryan Bingham and Jason Isbell too
Thanks man! Today is my lucky day discovering two more gems. Can you recommend some more :D
Cody Jinks
Stapleton, with the steeldrivers? Jamey Johnson, Aaron Lewis
This guy can blow out your subwoofer singing a cappella.
It's rattling right now
@lonestar22759 Let's not compare them. Sturgill is great and semi-biographical, and his sound is golden. Colter is gritty and his lyrics are darker, but the music is just as catching.
Colter has such a crisp sound. He is amazing dude. If you dig Americana, this guy Brett McDaniel is good too ua-cam.com/video/nWpwnKcJzrY/v-deo.html I saw him play live out in Florida. So much talent out there.
Got a free ear cleaning from my AirPods.
😂🤣😂
As a 25 year old black man that primarily listens to hip hop, I’m happy to say he’s my new favourite artist. His voice a delivery is just impeccable 🔥🔥🔥
I can easily understand you, but I'm either a black man nor 25. I grew up listening to east coast rap and hip hop, and the contrasts, high and lows, dramatic turns.. Theatrical? It has something in common with Colter Wall's music? I don't know if that makes any sense, really.
I'm a 42 year old old black man who was raised in country side Jamaica on the likes of Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson. If you cut me open you will uncover a hodgepodge of Reggae, Hip-Hop, Bachata and this... Music is art and art, like God, knows no boundaries
Same. Real recognize real.
@@davidpearson6346 it's not common for a 20 year old black man to listen to country in this day and age, that's all hes saying
For the life of me I have no clue why you would lie like this. Youre perfectly allowed to just say you enjoy the music without pretending to be someone who would stereotypically be expected not to.
Sometimes a singer so good comes around and you can't tell if they were made for the music or the music was made for them.
amen
perfect description
Bro, when I first heard him.. I was STUNNED and still am with every song I hear from him... This guy is fucking special...
That is some truth right there 😂😂
I hear johnny cash when he sings. I bet that that was one of his idols. To be clear this doesnt make him less good. Colter wall is freakin awesome. I love when storytellers also can sing this good.
Colter Wall is awesome. We in Russia are listening to his songs too. It's nice to get a sip of freedom out of his songs. Peace to ya all, brothers and sisters!
Bless you and your people !
I’m sorry the Crooked leader we have is causing trouble between our countries!
But I would like to let you know that it isn’t the American people that’s so sorry and despicable .
Most all the citizens would rather be like your friendly neighbors .
It is heartbreaking what’s going on with our leadership !
Citizens don’t recognize our leaders anymore they are our enemies .
Don’t know what’s going to happen here but the whole country is like a big pressure cooker !
🙏🙏🙏🤝🤝
@@garylam6233 , I sorry to hear that bro. It seems things going downhill. I am so grateful for your kind words about my country and people. I feel great shame for what our command does, but it's hard to resist when any neighbours of yours can snitch on you. God bless our countries and let us all come to union and friendship for we could reach far horizons of bright future!
Really nice to read words from a Russian that isn’t on a piece of propaganda.
Hopefully your war ends and our countries can find peace and commerce together.
@@brynjolf3974 , yes my friend. We are few among the zombie hordes, but we exist. Lurking in the shadows, keeping a low profile, feeling sick of being helpless and cursed by all the rest of the world. It's hard to see how your country becomes a totalitarian beast and your compatriots loose the remnants of sanity. I pray to God for Russia to become a true member of the World's community, connected to the other countries by cultural and trading bonds. That's a nice future indeed. We are all humans and our goal is to unite and in union obtain true power to explore the space and depth of our own souls.
@@xenontexarkh5131 Hopefully we get a new leader who wants to talk peace instead of adding fuel to the war machine..
“Most of the songs on this new record are pretty true stories about personal experiences I’ve had.” *plays Kate McCannon right after saying that
Hol up...
I mean, he wrote "The Devil Wears A Suit And Tie" as well.
He says they're "mostly fiction" lol take that as you will lol
🤣😂🤣
I PUT THREE ROUNDS INTO KATE MCCANNON!
I saw this man and his band down at the basement east in Nashville and was able to buy him a beer and play some pool against his drummer, Solly. He is as humble as they come. Country music should only be blessed with one of these voices, and im glad its within this soul.
Sad I missed this. Just discovered him this week and saw he's touring but not hitting Nashville. Guess he just came through and I missed him. Definitely will keep my eye out for his next Nashville stop.
Lyrics on the level of van Zandt, with the voice of Johnny Cash, and he is just 21... This guy is a miracle.
Yeah man hes got it figured out. Just wondering if you are talking about Ronnie Van Zandt or Townes Van Zandt. Both of them set the bar high for songwriters. Be hard to top Poncho and Lefty or Simple Man huh?
@Lynette Scribner Thanks. Took me awhile to come up with it.
I hear Van Zandt in a Tom Waits scene
I´m from Bosnia (many of you probably don´t even know what nor where that is, but that´s ok haha), and as i´m listening to this music Colter makes so many Pictures are sliding in my head like I was Born and raised in ´Murica. In one of those hollers.
And when that occurrs you know the musician must be doing something good. Hope he continues with it. Greetings.
No way he's 30!
What a gracious response to her suggesting that his work is inspired by the American South. His response argues that Saskatchewan has culture too, without embarrassing her. Good on him.
agreed poor question. great answer
I don't see it as a poor question. It is acknowledging what most Americans are asking. I think it was a completely legit question for those who aren't aware of Canadian culture.
That didn't make any sense. You said she suggested that his work is inspired by the south, and then you said he argues that it is, even though you said she suggested it already. That's dumb man.
How is it a poor question when his lyrics literally describe the US Civil War many times?
As much as I love Canada, you should just make a list of every city mentioned in his songs and calculate what % of them are US cities. lol I bet 90% at least are US cities.
And furthermore, the vast majority of his music influences he lists are US artists that were also singing about US history/culture.
Very Canadian answer, being both informative and courteous at the same time :)
Now this is the Real Deal. Country has found its soul again -right here. In a world that has been sold out to pop music it’s so refreshing to hear this young man tell the story and hit the heart strings just like Johnny and Waylon. ❤beautiful.
Just watch, he’s gonna be one of the greatest.
your so fuk... right !!!
I wish this was the kind of stuff on the radio. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves
Bryson Cook already is 👍
Crazy that a 20 something YO kid has this kind of storytelling ability
Sad thing is... radio won’t play him
"Josh turner has such a deep voice"
Colter Wall: "Hold my beer"
Country isn't dead, it's hiding in Canada
What does this guy use for mouth wash, gravel and bourbon? It's awesome.
Rick Jones lmao
He went to the Tom Waits School of Vocals and got a B.A. in gravel mouthed soul
He has been eating barbed wire his whole life.
Coffee grounds and tailings from a coal mine. But you were close.
Grape nuts with moonshine instead of milk
This guy represents his home province of Saskatchewan incredibly.
The man who saved country with a guitar, a smoky hazy bar, whiskey and a cigar.
Been many before him but god damn he is taking the torch
His voice penetrated my soul and I'm ginger I shouldn't have one...
:"when ever your're ready."
Colter: ight
Still floored that this guy is only 21, career just starting. His voice says he's in his 60s, I love Marty Robbins and Cash, but they aren't exactly making new music. He carries the torch so well.
Jacopo Skydweller he’s 24 born in 95
How might those two artists "make" new music these days?
@@michaelelliott1212 i thought the same thing LOL
I think he went down to the crossroads just like Robert Johnson.
Funny, I thought the same damn thing man. This this guy is the last saving grace as modern country sounds less like country everyday.....
Especially after hearing The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie
@@toddworley748 And Kate McKannon!
If so the deals been done so let’s appreciate 🙏🏻
I had that thought as well, when I heard his voice 👌🏻
0:22 Thirteen Silver Dollars
6:47 Motorcycle
12:18 Kate McCannon
18:11 Snake Mountain Blues
But don't skip the interview because it's good.
Thank you for the timestamps
This comment should be pinned !!!
I'm so glad I found Colter... he's crazy good. I love this kind of music and his voice is sooooooo good. I'm glad he's young... I hope he has a long career ahead of him.
KowashiHitori, being a Saskatchewan lad I hope he has a long career too. And being a Caps fan I hope Burakovsky turns out for you guys. Wish we had the cash to keep him
love that this guy is more country music (from a small town in canada) than anything i hear on the radio today in southern USA.
Kate McCannon definitely missing that kick drum, but great version still.
The original never had the kick drum.
Enrique Pillado Brewery Sessions, you should definitely look it up it’s amazing
@@bradenmark6976 yeah that is the best version of this masterpiece.
Agree love the original 16 session version of it he did.
Ricky Sorter, and the beer is good too
Colter has a voice that many country singers today don’t have. I hope he goes big, because he’s pretty amazing.
He doesn’t wanna be big he just wants to do folk music justice and his own. He turned down the joe rogan podcast because he was too busy on the ranch.
It says a lot of bout his character staying where he is needed. I think being a ol cowboy will always come first and music second. He’s a helluva guy
Being from Texas I moved to Montana and it blows my mind that all my kin and friends back home think people up north are just a bunch of “yankees”. The most real cowboys I’ve ever met have been from Montana, Wyoming and Canada. That being said, Colter is the real mf deal.
Exactly texas is a bunch of concrete cowboys unless you're raising beef or crop. Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas, Alberta, rural oregon, nevada, and parts of idaho are what make the west the west. Fuck texas and fuck the south bunch of god damn posing fucks.
@@gt8432 Couldn't agree more!
Hanks said it best, from north california and south alabam....theres country folks everywhere..i live in southern new jersey and i know just about as many people that make a living off the land as i do white collar office workers 🤷♂️
dt 98 lol right. Come to Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee
I'd add that a majority of California is very rural, and has a healthy contingent of "cowboy" types. Of course, the population centers are about what you'd expect, especially in the South state.
Probably hasn’t been asked for an ID at a bar since he was bout 12 with that voice
I need his voice to narrate my life
Among the ruins that is modern music, some true young talent still exists
Many of us are SO DOGGONE happy there ARE still a few around. Thanks Wolf.
There are no words for how good this man is at his chosen profession.
His voice is like a mixture of Johnny Cash and Gordon Lightfoot...amazing!
I'd say more Tom T Hall than Cash.
Yeah, Cash and Lightfoot is present.
I agree!
Good ear.
Pure, guy is a gem, glad he makes these, it’s a shame modern radio will not plays these talented singers. Keep it going I’ll pay!
BOHUNTER you don’t want this guy on the radio
100.9 ckua yo so good candian pubic radio will make you happier!
"that sounds close enough" .... Love this man
"Ride her off a mountain like ol' Arlo" you guys catch that reference to Arlo Guthrie's motor cycle song? Man this kid is great. Feels like an old soul
Maybe it's just her accent?
That's what I immediately remembered from that line.
And the significance of the pickle.....
Hey brother stay with it always keep in. Mind that,,,,,,,,you sing it like you feel it
I don't know how it took me so long to see and hear who Colter Wall was. I clicked this video just on a whim, and the moment he started singing I dropped and stopped everything I was doing for the whole video. I am Just blown away on different levels.
Couldn't say that i'm your biggest fan, but I listen to your music ever single day. I sing loud and proud. Construction sites, loud as humanly possible. Everyone loves it and asks who it is. My hell, amazing voice, amazing lyrics. The best stories. Keep this up forever. Ill follow your music till I die.
This guy is my new favorite singer. How does he get that voice out of that body? Truly inspiring!
Same found him by accident glad I'm not alone
It’s amazing to me when ordinary people can do extraordinary things...nothing is more beautiful in this world. This guy was blessed from the hand of god, just like Nolan Ryan was blessed with an arm. Appreciate it, love it, and share it with others. This guy is the real deal, never heard anything like him.
Nolan Ryan and God both suck. This is obviously devil music. Hail Satan
Couldn't of said it better myself, Garett.
We are all blessed with an arm, a voice is another matter
@@guitarman1477 we all have a voice too
Wow, evokes Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash - rich voice and great story telling--Congrats, man, and best wishes!
How sad of a world it would’ve been if Colter hadn’t found music.
If you haven’t already check out his brewery sessions. F’n amazing! Can’t get enough!
That old tyme sound. Country ain't dead with this boy. It's alive and thriving, thanks colter
If you mix the shadow over his face, with Colter's deep voice, is almost like he's an Anonymous Witness.
Referencing Jimmie Rodgers in his song, priceless, I'm a fan from now on young man!
He should be granted immediate US Citizenship based on his talent and contributions to county music.
More truth in the sound of his voice than you can hope to find. His notes echo the heartbeat of North America, and the strum of his guitar echoes the voice of 150 years past.
John M he’s Canadian lol
Jon-Eric Dufrene You do realize that Canada is within the continent of North America, right?
@@jon-ericdufrene4714 lol wow
Jon-Eric Dufrene LMFAO
Lmaoooo
That guitar needs a song written about it. Man that box can sing
Looks like a mahogany martin 00018
Or a 00-17
When I first heard Colter’s voice I thought for sure he was some long dead old country singer that never quite made it big ala Townes Van Zandt. Boy was I shocked when i found out the truth.
thats what the truth'll do
My brother just gave me a Colter Wall t-shirt so I'm here to check him out.
Incredible voice. Bizarre he looks 16 and 46 all at the same time. But that voice is so majestic!!!!!!!!
Thanks for nudging that Snake Mountain Blues out of him at the end!! F**king incredible!!
Yeah that was quite something
It blew my mind, man
Colter is the answer to so many yearnings for something real. It brings tears to my eyes
My grandmother was born in Arkansas and was a first cousin of Jimmy Driftwood and we went and seen him playing when he was in Mtn Home. He told stories like Colter and I love that.
He looks like someone I lost and sounds like Johnny Cash. Watching him sing makes it feel like he’s still here with me.
Third time watching this... I'll stop eventually.
judging by his voice and his awesome skills. he slept with that reporter
He can get it 💁💁💁💁💁
I don't know if it's the obsession with porn that ruined you or if it's that a lot of you are just genuinely stupid. But comments like this are the most out of touch, embarrassing shit ever.
Let's not say that he did sleep with her. But I have no doubt that he could have if he wanted to
Kimberly Coulter you do seem a bit sex obsessed to have that be where your mind goes during this video. it's a bit unnecessary
@@Maialeen who's embarrassed?
He picks the old style and sounds like the old western singers like Don Edwards, Dave Stamey, Waddie Mitchell and Marty Robbins. Love it!
I love that you recognize that too... even Chris Ladoux . Mom was from L.A, and dad was from tennessee...I grew up listening to my parents vinyl in Los Angeles.... he’s wrapped up my childhood and gave it back to me as a gift. ❤️
this guy is 23 years old! wow! amazing
I don’t listen to country or whatever but I found Colter Wall randomly on Spotify and he is unbelievable. I’m a huge fan within 10minutes. Love the story telling and voice.
An old soul that carried the voice forward too.
Wish this dude was from America. We need this kind of music again. 70's pure Country. It's beautiful and true talent. Warms me up to see younger people get exposed to this because they will accept it better from Colter than from Merle.
As a Canadian, I'm quit happy he's from Saskatchewan
Canada 🇨🇦 is so proud of this guy 👦
Bringing country music 🎶 back
I remember the first time I heard his music, it was just audio with no video or picture and I thought it was atleast a middle aged man then I started doing a little research on this young man and found out he's younger than me. Talk about being blown away!
An authentic phenom. Captivates my attention or demands it with a voice from another dimension to compliment lyrics and songwriting in the same plain. Been knowing about him for a couple years but for some reason just now beginning to appreciate every aspect.
The Johnny Cash of our time... keep it up Colter. Vamo ariba
Colter is like one of those real actual guys out there that can sing a million times better than anyone that’s famous and thank God the right person heard him somewhere so the rest of us would get the chance to.
You make us proud...love from Alberta
Absolutely the best artist out there to date. Cant get over his voice. Amazing.
I am not a regular fan of country music but god this transcends. His voice is unmatchable and I hate the comparisons. This guy is a real deal and his own. I got shivers down my spine when I hear him and his cover of Townes Van Zandt Snake Mountain Blues (with all due respect to Townes) takes the original song completely somewhere else. This is one of those reasons why cover culture makes sense as long as at least 1 in 1000 covers have the chance to surpass its original. This one not only surpasses the original, it is a work of genius.
I’m headed to iTunes because I’m sold.
Great voice.
I would pay significant money, and I do mean significant money, to see Colter Wall play with Steve Earle, Dan Tyminski, Martin Harley, Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton. Somebody make this happen. I will literally throw money at you.
Call it the highwaymen 2.0
Colter Wall is absolutely fantastic. This past half hour of listening to his music here is the first I have ever heard of him, and I am a big new fan.
Colter Wall, you are nothing short of phenomenal! Please come to Boise, Idaho!! Maybe the Western Idaho Fair 2019??
“When did you decide to become a full time musician?” “When I opened my mouth to sing in church choir, and out came this voice!”
Wow. How have I been avoiding listening to this guy? He's perfect.
I wonder why this is just being published? What a guy - can't wait for his new album
Incredibly underrated guitarist.
I kept ignoring this recommendation, but I'm glad I finally clicked on this!
That's a mighty fine a pickin' and a singin'!!!

every man who has been betrayed by a woman knows that feeling....
This man's voice makes me want to cry.
His raw voice is awesome, like Townes Van Zandt and others. Hope you come to Texas sometime.
Such a great Musician is Colter. A person could sit on a floor anywhere there in that Library space and feel like you were in the presence of greatness. Stay true to your craft and calling Colter Wall and prosper. Thank you for sharing your Music talent ! Best Wishes from Steven in America's Dairyland WI.
As a Canadian I'm a bit put off by the interviewer's surprise that a Canuck should be steeped in Country music. Hank Snow was Canadian. So was Ian Tyson, Robbie Robertson, Gordon Lightfoot, Stompin' Tom Connors and Ronnie Hawkins.
You gonna be all right?
Greg Halvorson Ofc a dude named Greg would have a snarky comment like this.
Do t forget shania Twain
And if she knew about all the Canadian country music women here, even

I hope he hooks up with the woman asking these silly questions
my dog likes that Kate McKannon murder ballad songs. when this song came on my dog lifted her head for some eye contact. funny shit
His deep voice shook all my windows here in Brazil, his timbre is solid gold
That Martin hog top is perfect for his music. So warm, it also sounds like he has a lot of influence from Texas Red Dirt / Bluegrass opposed to Nashville style country.
do you know what model that is? I'm thinking vintage 00-17 maybe? It could be a 00-15 I guess
The young lady interviewing him kinda comes off as a condescending New York city type. Makes sense.
Yuk
she seems to me like a nerd, who's excited to be interviewing someone she's a fan of.
No respect, questioning his authenticity repeatedly, talentless and uncouth, a complete contrast to the respectful mannerisms and quiet consideration he exudes regardless
Timeless!
Never gets old
