I got this game on steam a while back but struggled a lot and wanted to like it so bad. You helped a GREAT deal and now this game is one of my favorites! Great job!
I'm so glad I could get you into the game! Qud is basically my favorite game, and a huge motivating factor for me was definitely to ease the learning curve, so hopefully others might enjoy it as much as me! so comments like this are like... the goal hahah thank you so much!
Very good advice! In my early games, this is how I usually died in runs, that were initially very good: I stacked DV and ignored AV until a troll throws an axe and I died in one hit.
Well, this series has been super helpful. Now I'm able to enjoy the game, because I understand the basics of it, and that's thanks to you, so thank you so much for making these.

Your guide has been really helpful. I've picked this game up again, and with these tips it has become clearer of what to do or look out for. I have always struggled with it because you get flung out into this world and I was never good at roguelikes. You are amazing at pointing out what helps, how to make decisions when your out in the world or when you are in a situation with too many enemies. I also like the presentation of these videos and these little "Remember me!" points at the end of the video :D

I know this is from ages ago (and you may not know) but I can't find anything about this online: I have two heads. I know that the DV and AV get averaged between them. I had an AV and DV of 2/7 respectively, and the two hats I was equipping had a 1/0 and 0/1 AV/DV after averaging, yet my original AV/DV of 2/7 did not change. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't my AV/DV have increased to 3/8? Also, side question, why do armor pieces for same limbs get averaged down if only one the limbs is armored? I feel like I am misunderstanding a few crucial things here, ahaha. It seems like multiple limbs always reduces my overall armor in the early game if all of my shoes/gloves/hats/etc. get averaged down regardless of how many I have equipped. If I have one helmet that gives 2AV and 0DV by default but it gets rounded to 1 without any other worn helmets, that just seems like a net negative in terms of armor values thanks to the duplicate limbs.
the AV and DV get rounded down by default, so if you have one armor at 2/0 and the other duplicate limb has 0/0 then it would average down to one AV. I believe this means if you have only one armor piece at 1 AV then it averages to zero hence why you didn't increase in AV. This is the downside to extra limbs, but the upside is becoming a storm of swords/clubs/knives
@@BigSimple Interesting, so even though it shows a red "1" on the item tooltip it is actually like ".89" and then averages to 0 when applied to the total. That makes sense, thanks! That especially makes sense since the two helmets both gave 0/1 and 1/0, if they both gave 1/0 it probably would have raised the total by 1 of the respective armor type. Thank you for the response! Your videos have been helpful for getting over the new player "why do I keep fucking dying" learning curve. Now I've moved on to the steeper learning curve of the depth of the game's mechanics!

I can! it's at ua-cam.com/video/sM5Je-3jsbM/v-deo.html though i will say some of the mods mentioned have been made redundant by some updates made to qud, notably some features (some, mind you!) of QudUX and the auto-dissassemble mod. i will likely do an updated mod list at some point.
Bro i still don't understand, what do all the numbers on the items represent?
if it's armor, the first number mean bonus to AV (armor value), the higher which will offer more protection against attacks, the second number means DV (dodge value) the higher which means your chance of avoiding an attack entirely
if it's a weapon, the first number means penetration, the higher which means higher chance to pen through the opposing creatures AV. If you have enough penetration, you can pen multiple times. the second number is damage which is in the form of a dice roll (1d2 means the game is rolling a 2 sided die and the weapon can deal either 1 or 2 damage
