So the optimal way to mine on the world map is to have one or tso high level miners with drill arms, which is however a Royalty exclusive bionic. But a bunch of miners and a fair amount of caravan animals work too! RIP Bacchus. See, this is why you need EMPS, good armor and a few maces on you! RimWorld is a game that demands use of melee and ranged.

So, confusingly, uranium is very good for BLUNT weapons specifically the mace. A masterwork or legendary uranium mace can and will destroy mechanoids. They're great early game and late game, only eclipsed by persona weapons from the Royalty DLC. Uranium is also ammo for uranium slug turrets, which are the sniper variant of turrets. They hit amazingly hard but they're hard to plan around. Sunlamps and hydroponics go hand in hand especially in cold climates or during winter. It was a waste of doing indoor hyrdroponics since you can put them outside. They do short circuit in the rain, but you're in a desert and it's not really an issue.

Weapon wise you're good, just be sure to make the odd masterwork or legendary assault rifles. Excellent quality weapons and above are stronger. As for armor, you best be researching power armor. Vanilla, the most powerful is marine armor. This requires plasteel, steel (which can be mined easily vs the underground scanner) but more precious stuffs like components and gold are better off being scanned via the long range mineral scanner. Adv components are pricey and it's almost always better to make your own. Also fantastic freezer. You can double wall it if you want oi need to but as it's fine. You could even try carpeting your living room for the beauty bonus but statues alone would be the best way. I'd also recommend putting your steel by your entrance for easy turret barrel changes. They don't deteriorate outdoors and you can save even more space. I personally would replace spike traps from wood to steel. They're pricey, but they can one shot or two shot an enemy raider. Endgame you're gonna be swimming in steel, easily in 5 digits.

you always cover the most interesting stuff out there. the game is a bit too slow for me personally but i feel like it's something i would enjoy watching more of as a podcast-y stream

If you keep you weight down you get that speed bonus so you can generally outrun the enemies so that gives you a chance to rebuild poise, you are tanking without the weapons to do so

I play on easy, I don't focus on combat, Im just focused on building. This game is absolutely gorgeous! I've got my city over 2k population, I love walking through my city, lovely roads hedged in by fields of wheat and barley, with windmills on the distant hills. Or walking downtown under tall buildings, or through cozy wooded hamlets on the outskirts, or through the forest when it opens up on either side with apple orchards.

This one looks amazing on every level, the movement feels so slick and the way its integrated in puzzles is just perfect... Probably would have written this off as some casual fishing game but now I'm strongly considering buying, thanks for showing this gem!

yeah i realize it is actually much better, to ignore the abilities and take all of the cheap skills in order to boost your base stats. the thing is, getting mana or whatever in this game is hard as hell since you need to actually hit the enemy to gain it, but often against bosses or what not you don't have a chance to do so, so most abilities are useless since they are too expensive etc. so getting all the base stats for the cheaper abilities is better

You could absolutely double wall that freezer for better temp management. Material doesn't matter. And of course since packaged survival meals never spoil you can chuck em in the warehouse. I have a dedicated mini stockpile for bedrolls, PSM and pemmican near the barn if I ever need to go travel quickly. The sun lamp consumes the most power in the base. Consider making a dedicate hydroponics zone instead of using it as a living room too. Ah, a row of assault rifle wielding pawns. You love to see it.
