Paint stunning Bob Ross Landscapes with this Oval brush. I've used this to paint all the trees and bushes in this tutorial and have included a link in the two videos on Liquid White and Liquid Clear as well as the feature brush - Happy Painting People 😀😀
Thanks so much 😊Annie. I find some paintings just so pleasing I don't want them to end. Just like that last mouthful of chocolate or is that mash potato and butter 😍 Mmmmmm.
You bet Steven. Thank you for the Super Thanks too. I use all the donations to buy more paint and supplies for future paintings. If you have a favourite Bob Ross scene please let me know. I'll add it to my growing list of future tutorials 😎
I’ve always loved Bob Ross! Never tried oil paints in my own artwork; I usually work with gouache paint. But you have inspired me to try my hand at oils! Thank you Paul - you’ve got a new subscriber 😁
Thank you so much 😀Rosemarie. Yes, have a go. I suggested water mixable oils. These will feel and work much the same as gouache with the slow drying time as a bonus. Enjoy playing with this new medium. Paul 😃🥰😎
You've certainly mastered The Bob Ross method of painting Paul!! This is so beautifully done my friend!! You don't want too many though! They might start fighting!! Love it!!😀👍💯
Beautiful! Exactly the instruction I needed to fix those muddy trees and bushes I create. I'm still trying to get that fan brush to behave, LOL. Thanks!
A balmy evening on the edge of the woods watching the sun setting during an Indian Summer ... what a lovely idea - and a wonderful oily painting to watch too. Well done Paul 👏🤩🎨🖼🌞
I just discovered you and subscribed and clicked all. That is beautiful, and I cannot wait to get started painting, I have most of my materials gathered, and I especially look forward to using the different gessoes. Thank you for sharing your marvelous talent.
Wonderful Aaron. Art became my world many years ago and has been a wonderful hobby / job. Enjoy the journey and keep in touch through my FB page (links in description) Best wishes Paul 😀👍🎨
This is probably one of the best channels I have found on this paint I ng technique Bob would mighty proud of you my friend ❤ there's no doubt about that
Wow, thank you Elizabeth for your kind comment. I put a lot of effort into making videos I hope enhance Bob's work. He was the master and I hope he would be pleased too. 😃😃
G'day Michael 😃 Thanks for stopping by and leaving a bonza comment. Sorry for the Aussie'isms Great to have you onboard and enjoying the channel. I'm making new videos weekly and hope to have one ready for this weekend 😃😃
Your a sweetie Catie. Yes a definite winner and one I enjoyed painting so much. In fact I think I'll use an acrylic underpainting for the next one. So, no time for Pooh sticks lets get painting! 😃😍😎
This was great! For whatever reason, i was scared to try this painting, but you have given me the courage to try. Definitely subbing amd will be trying more. Thank you!
Hi MM welcome aboard the good ship PRA 😃 We're all on a voyage of discovery here so your in good company. Now gather up your courage and get started. Its a fun painting and one of my favourites. Any yes it took me a couple of goes to get it right. Thankfully the underpainting stays put so you can paint it over and over😃 - Look forward to seeing you for more tutorials
Oh yes. I forgot about this painting. I wanted to paint this the first time I saw it. I've painted it a few times since and still love the colours Bob used. Best wishes - Paul 😃🥰😎
Hi paul, i must say you are an exelent teacher, I am a cri myself sinds 2005 here in the Netherlands. I really enjoy your teachings and beautiful paintings.
Wow, thank you Nelie - so lovely to see you being interviewed. I did my teacher training in Roermond in the Netherlands so its a home from home for me. I must go back some time and visit some of the cafes where we would sit and drink coffee and eat Appelflappen - ah wonderful memories. 🥰🥰 liefde naar Nederland sturen 😍😎
I can imagine Bob Ross smiling down on this lovely work, this is a very calming piece of artwork, it's certainly a place I wish to be right about now, and even now I'm still amazed at how light colours can go on top of a very dark (almost black) under painting, I've done that myself and a thinner paint really does go on top of a darker colour without it mixing 👍👍
Hi Damo - thanks for stopping by again and leaving such a wonderful comment. This is certainly one of my most favourite paintings by Bob. I've painted it before ( about 10 years ago 😲😲 ) and this version is really what I want hanging on the wall. I've visited your channel and just blown away by the amazing detail in your art work. Great sharing. 👍👍
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I've tried my best to keep Bob's technique alive and show folk where I think it might have gone had Bob sill been alive. Just my take on things. Keep watching for more varied paintings 😃

Apparently there is. I heard it on Twitter of course! I've waited years to crack that punch line and then they changed the name to 'X'. What sort of a silly name is that! Happy painting - Paul 🦉🦉🦉
Great question and one with several answers. Primarily, clear is used over an underpainting such as black or grey gesso - here's and example ua-cam.com/video/XhnBlJT9fF4/v-deo.html Or over coloured acrylics like this one - ua-cam.com/video/h0EFENwueaA/v-deo.html In each case the liquid clear protects and preserves the colours of the underpainting but still allows oil colours to blend and mix on top. When a solid ( non transparent ) preparation is requires Liquid white is usually the way to go. Hope this helps.😃
This is lovely, Paul. Thank you. I'm curious if you have an opinion on the oval brush you used here vs the BR foliage brush. As a newbie BR painter I struggle with bushes, footie hills and clouds and I've seen that the foliage brush can be used to help with all of these. Is the oval brush as versatile? Is there a reason to choose one over the other? Thank you.
Great questions Brad. I guess the regular 1" landscape brush is the most versitile but takes a little more practice to get good results. The 1" oval is easier to get working and as you see the results are more predictable. Personally I was taught to use the 1" as part of my Bob Ross certification so I tend towards using that. 😎 Hope this helps - Paul
Dear Sir Paul R Art in UK! The big tree on the left side on Your canvas is a killer in my eyes Sir, Thanks Sir Paul Art in UK from Peter Eriksson Orsa Dalarna Sweden 😊😅😊
Hi Mathew, yes I thought that too... what a stinker I am😂 Well, truth be told you can have too many of the wrong brushes. I used to try every new brush looking for the magic 'silver bullet' that would make me a better painter. But as Barry found out the brushes you need are the ones you started with. Master those and then add a specialist brush. Paul 😃😎

I bought a natural sponge from "the works"uk . Its got so many different sized holes and bumps randomly laid out . Give it a try .
Hi Stevie. I used to have a lot of these and yes they were great. I've tried to switch to synthetic sponges and brushes as they last longer. 😀😀
Wow, that's a wonderful landscape
But it's hard to be a beginner😂👍💕
