    Did it. I was concerned that the rays would be the tricky bit ~ and they were. They definitely need to look like they all have the same small center part and splay out. Mine were too parallel so there was a lot of removing and redoing, but in the end, I felt like it was better. Love "working with you." Those of us who are beginner-beginners really need stuff broken down to the wee bits! I'm so high strung that it's all very stressful for me. Yes, Josh. I started with just the very basic kit because that's all I could afford. Necessity taught me to use what I had to the very nth degree. It was more by luck that this turned out to be exactly the right thing to do. Once I had mastered those first 5 colours and brushes I felt it was time to explore. But I only added a brush or two at a time. So here we are a lifetime later and I'm still just using the same basic kit. Carry on being creative and sharing your work. Happy Painting - Paul 😃😃

    Paul, there is such a thing as a paint saver palette for acrylic users. They come in different brands and go by different names. They have a water bearing sponge in the bottom and you can leave your paint on the pallet and close it up tight and save it for later. Some brands suggest say that it can be used it with oils. It occurred to me that even if it does not work that well for oils, it could help with water mixable paints because they are a little different and the moisture on the sponge inside the air tight pallet might help. Have you ever tried such a thing? Maybe you should them to let you try it and let us know how that works! If not, I may have to give it a go myself! Now you have me talking like you! 😂 Love your low key calm instructions. Thanks!

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt 2 дні тому

      Hi Darla - my other half is a lovely watercolour artist and uses a Stay-Wet palette for her paints. Water mixable oils are a strange combination of oils modified to accept water molecules in their mixture and then evaporate again. Maybe a damp atmosphere would keep the surface hydrated and prevent skinning over. I mostly use traditional oil paint and work quite quickly so it's not too much of a problem. But if I do need to take a break I cover my palette with cling film ( Sarran Wrap ) and pop it in the freezer! The atmosphere in a freezer is incredibly dry and airless so oils just go stiff and can last months without drying out. 😃

      Hi and a great question. I dry clean almost exclusively when I'm painting but I always wash my brushes at the end of a painting session. I'm very (very) fussy about looking after my kit. I use Zest - It brush cleaner as my skin doesn't like odourless thinners. And never ever use white spirits! It will destroy your artist-quality brushes. Hope that helps - Paul 😃

      Hi sweetie - thanks for stopping by. I always want to stay awake to watch your Wednesday Friends Day paint along but I'm usually up the wooden hill when it starts. But your channel is just so good. @annietroe - love and big arty hugs - Paul 😃🥰😎

      @@PaulRansonArt We miss you! BUT it is just too darn late where you live. Who knows, some day we may go back to an earlier live stream time. THRILLED how well your channel is doing!

      @@AnnieTroe Thank you Annie - no matter I get to wake up and have tea with you instead. Oh that sounds a little creepy now I've typed it out 😂 but you get my drift. Yes, the hard work is slowly paying off as the channel grows. Your doing great as well with all the traceables, patreons etc and making great videos. Where do you get the time to do it all? Now, back to the easel for this weeks production. I have an idea .... big hugs to you and Emily 🥰🥰 - Paul

    You are so sweet to watch with a good demeanor and a good sense of humor! You are relaxing as much as Bob Ross did! But I love your way of painting with simplicity of doing things with so nice at ease! I am watching you since one month straight and you got my subscription! I back to paint after 42 years of absence due to an invalidating arthritis! I am having a question for you: Are you a full time painter? Because I am wishing too! You are a so good instructor! Your advices are helpful and precious and easy to follow! 😊❤❤❤ From Quebec in Canada 🇨🇦

      Thank you so much for your kind words Danyel! It's wonderful to hear that you're back to painting after so long. I’m not a full-time painter, but I love sharing what I can. Keep at it, and you'll find your rhythm again! Best wishes - Paul 😃🥰😎

      It's a neat trick I was shown many years ago by one of my teachers. It's so helpful when laying out planes in a scene to keep you from straying too high or too low. Happy Painting - Paul 😃😎
