This video is the result of hours and hours of work and I want to thank you for that. My takeaway is that the seeded bread is the best in general since I don't eat burger buns much.
I have to chime in in agreement with everyone else as to how much I appreciate all the work that you put in to your videos. I'm also glad that you use these products the way you would normally use them. the dry bread tasting, or however a lot of times they get tested doesn't really give us a good answer of how it's going to affect us in everyday life. I really appreciate you, and I am glad that you're sticking in there with us. stay as safe as you can, God bless!

I'm wondering if you have a summary drop-down with all of the bread you have tested. I'm looking for healthy life which is basically what I have found I liked the best but it's not super low carb but then again I don't eat a lot of bread so I'm going to try one of them you mention that takes the gold card to pay for it. And I have to buy four or eight loaves which is a crazy amount of bread for me even if I freeze it. But for quick grilled sandwich I'm using this healthy life white or sometimes wheat. It seems all of them have wheat junk in the ingredients, along with the Whey Protein Isolate. Aldi breads have that weird sponge and taste of air because it doesn't have enough normal bread ingredients in it. So I don't care about testing those brands. Just the healthy life, if you haven't already. I don't even know how to quickly figure it out honestly. Which is why I'm asking for a list with links back to your videos.
@@HopeWins777 I have a playlist of the breads I've reviewed. I plan to review a couple more of the commonly requested breads in the coming months, then I'll do a summary video of all of them.

Thanks so much for this video, Steve! I’ve been eating Carbonaut bread for awhile now. I buy it at Costco and don’t mind the price at all as I only have a slice a day. My favourite is the seeded bread and I agree with you about the cinnamon raisin. It’s a game changer for me for hotdogs and hamburgers as well.
I was looking up for keto bread recipes, and in Canadian dollars, it would cost me about $15 or more to make only ONE keto loaf at home using ingredients such as egg white powder or different flours and powders (almond, coconut, psyllium husk, etc.). At Costco, it's cheaper to buy this Carbonaut bread that comes in a 2-pack at ~$12.50 or sometimes less! That's roughly $6.25 per loaf! 😃 I usually love cooking from scratch, but I don't want to break the bank either for fancy ksto ingredients. XD lol

Same here! IIRC, the GF versions have 1 fewer net carbs per slice (1 vs 2) than the non-GF, but the loaves are a bit more expensive. If we figure out the impact is nil, the extra $1-$2 would be worth it, IMO!
OK, that was fantastic. I have recently found Carbonaut and it was a game changer. I really appreciate your time and effort to provide this info. Thanks so much!
That was a lot of work Steve. Thanks for all the effort and sharing your findings. I wish there was some good tasting bread that did not spike glucose. Until that becomes available, I am not eating bread. That will be very difficult over the holidays, but I feel too good to let that fail happen.
Thank you for all the time and effort put into testing this product. It is so helpful to see the data. I haven't tried this bread before and not sure it's even available in my area. I hope your recovering well from your surgery .
Thanks for the testing Steve. This video reinforces what I have been considering for a while. I believe that the best bread that I can put in my body is some that I make myself. I have a lot to deal with before January 1, so my major bread and noodle making will probably have to wait until next year. I'm gotta try the spherification inspired spaghetti noodles and some PSMF egg white bread to get me through the rest of this year. Hopefully January will give me the opportunity to put on my mad scientist chef's hat.
Thank you for such a comprehensive review. I tested my glucose levels when I first used carbonaut bread and didn't notice such a strong spike at two hours but now that I've seen your level results, I'm going to do 30 minutes tests to see if I have the same results and will stop buying it if that is the case. I really appreciate your sharing this information in such detail.
I eat the Carbonaut seeded bread, but occasionally - it's just too pricey for everyday use. So instead of having toast with an omelette, I'll just have a side of rutabaga hash browns. (Honest, they're really good) bread is for special occasions, like garlic toast with lasagne. I've tried the cinnamon raisin variety and agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. Tha ks for all the work you do on our behalf, Steve. Youre the best.
Wife and I tried the white and seeded varieties a few months ago. We both thought it was OK, for "store bought" (comes in a plastic bag type) bread. She is more concerned about carbs than I am. I have been eating a slice of Ezekial bread 2-3 times per week, so 10 carbs added to a meal does not bother me. She was more concerned about the idea of modified starches as ingredients. Me not so much. We bought 2 loafs and decided the price was not worth the convenience. Plus, if we are going to "waste carbs" , it had better taste better than store bought bread. Like Sierra Nevada Ale, for instance.
Very helpful video. I've been eating carbonaut white and seeded bread for awhile. I was surprised to see the spikes it created. I believe my body is pretty fat adapted, but I don't do much measuring of anything. Glad to see overall the effect on you was minimal.
I will try this. When I eat low carb bread I only eat 1 slice cut 2/3 & 1/3, use 2/3 on the bottom. It's less carbs & still gets the bread part of a sandwich you want. I do 1/2 a bun. I freeze it so I don't waste any. Defrost 3power in microwave 20ish seconds. I enjoyed the tests & appreciate your videos!👏🙏
The best "white bread" we have found so far is Sola bread. We buy it at Costco. But Walmart stocks it in our area now. The Sola sweet and buttery version is great. I do what I call the Yawn test. If I eat something and I have a blood sugar spike, after about and hour I will be yawning like crazy. If there is no yawning, then no sugar spike! So far this Sola bread passes the yawn test. But, I am always eating it with something, eggs, bacon, sausage, maybe some lunch meat with mayo. You get it. Could be something to the idea of "fat blunt ". (Not the kind of fat blunt you smoke)
Thanks for doing all the testing Steve. I've been eating Carbonaut bread for over a year now. I keep it in the freezer and only take out a piece or two at a time. To have the odd sandwich I just don't care how much it costs. Here in Canada a lot of regular bread is $6.50 a loaf so to pay a couple dollars more isn't a deal breaker for me. I agree about the Cinnamon Raisin bread - it just seems to turn to mush. My favourite is the Oat Bread, which they didn't send you and then the Seeded Bread. I find they both need a bit of salt but that is easy to add. The only downside of the Seeded Bread is that no matter how careful I am I find those little black sesame seeds all over the house for a week. It is so worth it though. I'm going to make turkey stuffing with it this Thanksgiving.
Thank you for this video! I have been eating this bread and love it but I havent had test strips to check my glucose. I appreciate your review on this product. It is a fantastic bread! but from your video review I will probably compromise and cut back a bit.
Seems like the results people have with these are all across the board.... some people have no reaction, others have a reaction. Leads to very mixed views.
@@Sam-dc9bg So do your own test. Carbonut bread for me has been a God send. I only eat one slice and it doesn't spike my B.S. at all. I hate Chaffles Blah mozzarella cheese with egg. All that cheese binds a person.
For starters, I really really appreciate the time and effort you put into testing these breads. You not only had to buy them, but take the time with your software in evaluating all of them for us! So, thank you for that! That said, I did try the Carbonaut bread that I purchased from Amazon ($7.99 I think for one loaf) and the taste & ingredients didn't warrant the price. It seemed flat and a bit chalky to me and I ended up throwing it out today as the 3 remaining pieces had gone stale! The Aldi Keto bread is very good, (1 net carb per slice), but with the wheat flour & gluten, my hands were killing me 2 days later. I learned that I had been gluten sensitive all along but didn't realize it as I have been on Keto since June! I have found that chaffles & homemade buns/biscuits are enough for me and I don't really miss bread at all. I feel great and that is better than any pleasure I get from breads, etc! So any "Keto" bread with carbs like tapioca starch, wheat flour, or gluten isn't really Keto and could trigger a gluten response similar to what I had. BTW, do you still make chaffles?
@@SeriousKeto Awesome! Because of you, I bought the Dash multi chaffle machine and have enjoyed making them for pizza, buns, or even sweet waffle/chaffles to enjoy with my Walden Farms sugar free pancake syrup! lol
#SharonS ... there is an amazing Canadian recipe developer for KETO on UA-cam called #Ketoserts who has some incredible mini loaf bread recipes that you may want to review. She is a stunning 😍 and talented baker. It is a very small channel compared to Serious Keto so you may not have had it come up in your UA-cam recommendations yet.
Wow amazingly thorough testing. I totally appreciate what you do with your testing. I have tried two types of this bread and found I had blood sugar spikes. As a type 2 diabetic I don’t think I will have this around the house except maybe for special occasions.
Excellent video because it provides detailed, objective data. Price was the main reason I had refrained from buying Carbonaut, so based on your review, I may buy the buns since they performed well. Thanks again for your contribution.
I like the Carbonaut Gluten Free white bread. It has 1 net carb per slice. Pretty good, but I agree it has a strange kind of “powdery” texture to it. It reminded me of stories I’ve heard of bakers adding plaster of Paris to their bread dough during war times to make it go further. I’m sure this doesn’t have plaster in it, just an impression I get when I eat it. Still, if you are Keto AND Gluten Free, pickin’s are slim.
Thank you. I'm not on Keto, but I've been doing low carb again since February to drop the covid weight. I'm down 30 lbs and decided I'm ready for maintenance. I tried the seeded bread for the first time today. I had a half chicken, mayo, pesto salad sandwich. It was delicious. I found it at Aldi for less than $6. A bit of a splurge but totally worth it. I've tried Keto bread before. It sat on my gut like wet cement. Fingers crossed this doesn't have the same effect.
I've been using the Seeded Carbonaut Bread available at Costco 🇨🇦 this past 6-9 months while dealing with a health issue. Taste wise it is 'fine' but I am not a bread eater so I've had to freeze a loaf and half out of each purchase. I generally need to make an emergency sandwich or some toast a couple times a week plus when I make my kiddos meatballs and our family meatloaf* I soak a couple slices in cream to help keep them moist/act as breadcrumbs. *Again I am the only 100% KETO person in the family! PS... we all have to get away from this 'One size fits all' thinking when it comes to our health so personally I REALLY appreciate you constantly reinforcing it!!!
Thanks Steve for this eagerly anticipated review of Carbonaut breads. I get all of these from Costco in Canada and is pretty much the only bread me and my wife will eat. We weren't fans of the seeded one but the white and buns are great. We're not diabetic and we don't eat them all the time but when we get the urge for a grilled cheese or a burger, they're good to curb those cravings. I was a little disappointed to see those spikes in your glucose however looks like it doesn't knock you out of ketosis. Another "bread" we often eat are Broghies. Low everything even though they are made with popped wheat. Great to eat with eggs or topped with cheese. If you toast and butter them, they smell like buttered popcorn. Would be cool if you could review those :-)
Hello I’m starting keto one again I think last time I wasn’t on it very long. I want to thank you for making these videos. I’m a sucker for bread and don’t want to give it up. I also want to be healthy and happy. This video has helped me so much. Thank you
This was very interesting. I wonder if Dave’s killer bread would have more fiber in it, if the blood glucose response would have been different. 12 g of fiber in the buns is quite a bit, and I wonder if that is really a good idea. Many of the keto breads give me digestive issues when they contain a ton of fiber. I also have the feeling with keto products in general when they stick in a ton of fiber that it’s sort of cheating. I think for many it is better to pay attention to total carbs instead of net carbs.
Thank you Steve for doing such a comprehensive test of this bread. I’ve been eating the seeded Carbonaut for a while so these results are depressing as I love this bread.
Thank you for this. Since I tend to be gluten-sensitive, I eat the gluten-free Carbonaut seeded bread. I don’t have a glucose monitor, so I attempt to have no more than 2 slices per day, when I eat it. Kinda wish the GF Carbonaut was included in this, but I’m happy you compared them to regular bread.
Thank you so much for doing a review of carbonaut bread! While still reasonable when combining it with fat, ultimately I think it should be eaten sparingly. Base culture does a clean keto bread that would be interesting to see a review on. Keep up the good work, Steve!
Great analysis. Ive tried all the “keto” breads and the Carbonaut has been the winner on texture, taste and mouth feel compared to whole grain bread. Still, whenever I see a LOT of fibre like psyllium and tapioca starch I think its used to “cancel” out the carb base. Especially sweet bars like Quest. Seems a bit of a cheat and I think your video says that. Your body still recognizes complex starch as glucose. period.
Fiber does NOT cancel out carbs. That is an error in understanding. The way it works is when a fiber is a technical carb, but is undigestible, ( though a technical carb ) it can be subtracted from the total carbs. It's a point of of a lot of confusion. So much so, some people think if they eat the equivalent amount of psyllium husk fiber it will actually cancel out sugar or bread starch. I ASSURE YOU AS A CHEMIST, THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. I hope this explanation helps. And I do wish someone on youtube would explain this better in their vids. However, this is a stone cold correct explanation.
Thank-you so much for this video! It contained exactly the information that I was trying to find out about this bread. I am new to Keto, but I am aware of the the impact of high glycemic index foods, having been on the Zone Diet for several years. It was interesting to see how the fat slowed and controlled the blood sugar increase. This is something that Dr. Barry Sears mentioned in his book years ago, and likened the addition of fat to the scenario as like having an inter-virus drip controlling the rate at which the blood sugar would rise. The fat slowed the rate down significantly. I am lucky to be able to get the Carbonaut Bread at our local COSTCO at a reasonable price. Thanks again!
I bought the other (4th kind) loaf from Whole Foods in the light blue package that has 1 net gram of carbs. No seeds, no wheat products & hard to find. Liked the consistency but it did taste kind of powdery as you said. LOVED it toasted but it was super expensive. Bought it twice, don't think I'll buy it again I didn't do a glucose test so don't know what it did. I wouldn't try the other 3 purely because of the ingredients.
Thank you so much for this video. It was exactly what I was looking for. I'm still just at the beginning of my Keto weight loss journey trying to avoid diabetes and this video helped a lot. I think my take away is, eat it sparingly until I'm in better shape. The seeded bread is my favorite. Have not tried the hamburger buns but it sounds like I need to.
The glucose readings, research, and Steve's attention to detail make these videos invaluable to ketonians/diabetics. This is one of the only few channels I have a bell on.
I'm starting my fifth month of keto and I still love my chaffles, at least one every day. Am I the only one? I'm just as happy as can be with all the different varieties, many recipes from Steve. Just thought I'd ask.
Thanks, Steve, your really thorough test was super helpful. I've been keto for almost 3 years, and yea, I cheat sometimes. That's a fact. So, spending a little more money to cheat safer than real cheating is plus. And since most keto bread is not that good, and real bread isn't even that fun anymore, I'm happy to know an occasional burger can happen. Can't do it all the time or I'll turn into a blimp, and I know I will need to check things against my own personal response, but if it's actually decent tasting and I can recover in a day...I'm thrilled!
Oh, by the way, I hope your surgery was minor and that it went well. I want you to know that I watch your videos Faithfully and pay very close attention to your determinations on what works for you and your body. As most of your viewers know, just because it works for you doesn't mean it does for me and vice versa. Just want you to know that your hard work is appreciated and noted. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!
Oh my. And I just got quite a bit of Unbun (I like whole grain breads and I like their version) on sale. Eventually I might try the Carbonaut, but since I don't eat a keto type bread very often, it might be a while....Not being diabetic, I usually don't worry about glucose but information is always a good thing. Thanks for being a guinea pig on the glucose testing.
I first heard about this bread on Keto Rewind, she used it to make dressing for Thanksgiving. I started looking for the bread and Amazon is my only source. Thanks for doing this test it will save me money.
Hi Steve. Carbonaut has a gluten free keto bread as well that really good and doesn't spike me. I haven't tried the ones with wheat gluten as it always spike gives me spikes. Found at whole foods for $6.00.
That's the one that says 1g of net carbs on the bag vs 2g? The white bread I get at whole foods is very different looking than the white bread he had here. The ingredients are closer to the ingredients of the raisin bread he had here, tapioca starch, etc.
I buy the seeded Carbonaut bread from Costco here in Canada. I have not seen any other then the seeded bread. I love it once in awhile, it's easy, can make a grilled cheese or a toasted sandwich once in awhile which is something i that i really miss. I am not a big fan of cooking and baking although i have to do it but sometimes it's nice to have this short cut. I had wondered about how clean it would be for me but reading the ingredients didn't seem all that different from other keto bread recipies i have made. I will just make sure it has lots of fat on it and not have it daily! I want to wish you well with and a very speedy recovery. Looking forward to seeing you on here again. Be well! 💖
Thanks Steve, I realize we all need to test ourselves on these products but it's also nice to see how it effects someone else to give us the head's up!
2 days ago I was at my local Kroger / Smith's grocery store and found a bread by Oroweat that said KETO with only 2 net carbs. Compared to all the other keto breads, this one tastes like bread chews like bread and really has the sandwich bread down pat. I just paid $4.17 for a 20 oz loaf. Not a bad price and available at the local grocery store so no special shopping to get it. We do not have Aldi's in Albuquerque New Mexico and I am a Sam's member not a Costco member. Maybe you will try it out. I am a diabetic who is now on dialysis so I have fewer restrictions on my diet then I did when I just had CKD. I do hemodialysis at home 5 times a week for 2 hours a day and I can eat or drink anything I want. When I first learned about Keto I was in the advanced stages of CKD(Chronic Kidney Disease) and was told that a high protein diet was not good for kidney disease. If you get the opportunity check it out. You may or may not like it and it may or may not work in your keto lifestyle. Just works for me. And yes, my real name is Merry Christmas Claus and my husband's legal name is Santa Claus be well and happy holidays
Great vlog! I appreciate you doing all of this legwork for the rest of us. I've contemplated buying Carbonaut bread but it is kind of pricey and I wasn't sure how it would affect my BG. I may still try it but with the understanding that it will be a very "once in a great while" treat. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Steve! Companies Mahe so many claims I never know what to think of I don't make it myself. And even though we all may react differently there are some that are going to be close. Hope your starting to feel better.

Thank you so much for all you do, all of the time and effort you put into your videos. They are always very well done and I always learn something I can use. Thank you so much!!😁🥰
Thanks for the review. I’ve gotten so used to eating cheeseburgers with no bun and sautéed onions, or sausage and cheese with egg the same way. Finding keto crackers and chips has helped greatly.
Great video. I am able to get this bread at Sprout's here in Florida. I love the flavor and texture, however, being type II I can't have it very often. I buy a couple of loaves and keep them in the freezer. I don't really miss bread that much so those loaves will last me for months.
I have purchased this at Costco and I like it pretty well. The loaves at Costco are larger and there are two in a package and it's about $8 I think, not two bad for two large loaves of keto bread. It's not refrigerated there, which I don't like. I did once get a moldly loaf but the other loaf was fine. The 2nd time I purchased both loaves were fine. I put one in the freezer right away and kept the other in the fridge. I didn't test blood glucose so I didn't know how keto it really was. I'm wanting to get back into keto but do the PSMF regularly so it's basically carnivore for a couple of months with only 10 carbs a day. At least until I hit my goal or close to it. I am not going to bother with bread until then. I'll make the viral noodles though.
This video is the result of hours and hours of work and I want to thank you for that. My takeaway is that the seeded bread is the best in general since I don't eat burger buns much.

I just want to echo all the comments regarding how helpful your testing is to all of us. Hoping you are doing well.
I love the variety of your videos. You always hit different points of a keto lifestyle. It's not just recipes and I appreciate that. 🙂
That bread with the seeds is a game changer, thanks for the review. Love that bread!!!
I pray that you are feeling better and have a speedy recovery!! ❤💙💜
I agree!! I love Sola bread..price not so bad either!! 4.99
Sola is $12.35 where I live.
@@CalgaryGuy - sorry about that. It is only 6.99 for two loaves at our Costco. I thought 7 bucks was high, maybe I should not complain. 😁
@@Kro_man_tx Wish our Costco carried it. Meijer does but the price is insane.
You are hilarious 😹....fat blunt lol
I love these assessments of products with glucose readings... so informative!
Thank you for this video! I have been eating this bread and love it but I havent had test strips to check my glucose. I appreciate your review on this product. It is a fantastic bread! but from your video review I will probably compromise and cut back a bit.
Thank you so much for this detailed review!! Appreciate it!❤
My feeling of resistant starch. Nonsense for me. Anything I eat that is "resistant starch" spikes my blood sugar. Thanks for sharing.
Same here. 50 years a type 1 diabetic and I’ve given up trying such things after one disappointment after another after another…
The idea of resistant starch is pure nonsense and wishful thinking.
Me too
Seems like the results people have with these are all across the board.... some people have no reaction, others have a reaction. Leads to very mixed views.
@@Sam-dc9bg So do your own test. Carbonut bread for me has been a God send. I only eat one slice and it doesn't spike my B.S. at all. I hate Chaffles Blah mozzarella cheese with egg. All that cheese binds a person.
Thanks again for taking one for the team!
Hoping your surgery went well! Have a speedy recovery!
Thank you for your extensive, thorough testing! I buy this bread regularly!
Solid review, thanks for taking the time to do it.
love the length of detail you go through to fully test - thank you
Thank you for performing all those test variations. Very interesting and informative.
Steve . Again thank you. Another great review. Have a great rest of your Monday.
Great video Steve thank you for doing this exploration for us.
You provided enough data for us and tou did it right. Thank you for very thorough testing. Hope to see more products soon.
I do still make chaffles. I made a bunch of stuffing chaffles to use as buns for my leftover thanksgiving turkey.
@@SeriousKeto Awesome! Because of you, I bought the Dash multi chaffle machine and have enjoyed making them for pizza, buns, or even sweet waffle/chaffles to enjoy with my Walden Farms sugar free pancake syrup! lol
WOW Steve what a great experiment
Thank you so much
I have 2 loaves of the seeded bread in the freezer was planning to make some dressing with it
That is an UNbelievable amount of testing! Thanks for this!
Your dedication to your followers is fantastic. Havent had bread in over 2 1/2 years and its ok.
I’ve given up on bread, but this great to know if I ever have to be “sociable”, especially around holidays. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Steve for such a comprehensive test! Great info!!
Thanks for the helpful review! Love the Regular Show shirt!
Would be cool if you could review those :-)
I love it when you guys do this.. Saves me money and time.
Very grateful for all the reviews/testing you do for us!!!! ps. hope the procedure went well.
Hello I’m starting keto one again I think last time I wasn’t on it very long. I want to thank you for making these videos. I’m a sucker for bread and don’t want to give it up. I also want to be healthy and happy. This video has helped me so much. Thank you
I have an entire playlist of bread reviews with glucose tests. I hope that they can help you out.
Thank you so much for testing all these products.
Thank you Steve for doing such a comprehensive test of this bread. I’ve been eating the seeded Carbonaut for a while so these results are depressing as I love this bread.
Do you check your own blood sugar? This bread doesn't spike mine to anywhere near a high level. Test yourself.
Thank you once again for another unbiased review!!!
Steve, you put in a lot of work and time for this video, thank you so much for your work.
I love how exacting and detailed you are with your testing. Thank you, Steve!
Thanks 🙂
I'm type 2 diabetic, thank you for doing that test, helps us choosing better breads the won't spike our blood glucose or at least not much.
Interesting video, Steve!!! Great work! I want one of those glucose meters.
Same thing I've found testing any of these supposedly low carb breads.....a 40-50 pt spike. The only "resistance" seems to be a resistance to reality.
Thanks for the review Steve!:)
I picked up the white bread today to give it a try -$9 CAD for 2 loaves @ Costco in Calgary, Alberta. Great vid Steve, hope you’re healing up well!
A very informative video. Thank you for going above and beyond on every video. 👍
I’m very happy you are testing this bread, we have it in our stores but I just not sure about the ingredients in it so haven’t bought it yet.
It’s good to see you here. Recover quickly.
Also, awesome job on all this work you put into the research on keto bread!
Great review, thank you for doing this!! I think I might actually try this now.
Oh that would be good to try! I haven't seen the gluten free option at my store in Canada as yet but it's a very small city...
Love your thorough approach. Thank you. I learned a lot.
Love your testing foods with glucose videos. Thanks!
Ive been eating Carbonaut for over a year. Im a T2D and my A1C hasn’t budged. Its Been 5.3 since 2019. So Id say, monitor yourself and see how your own body reacts.
I have tried both the white and seeded carbonaut breads and I think the seeded bread is the best…I love it
Thank you so much for all you do, all of the time and effort you put into your videos.
Thanks for the comprehensive review.
I tried the seeded version and liked it. For anyone in the Houston TX area I found it at Sprouts.
Great video. I am able to get this bread at Sprout's here in Florida. I love the flavor and texture, however, being type II I can't have it very often. I buy a couple of loaves and keep them in the freezer. I don't really miss bread that much so those loaves will last me for months.
Thanks for your reviews. Very helpful.
