Just found this keto bread at my local store for the first time. To say I am impressed is an understatement. Totally love it! Would love to hear your review and how it affects glucose. The name of it is Nature’s Own Life KETO soft white one net carbs per slice.
The Solo bread is the first one I’ve been able to use without significant rise in glucose (more than 30); I do better with one slice only at a time, but I’ll take that over nothing!
I love one slice of lewis keto topped with mayo and bacon, however I definitely need to test. I'm just getting back to keto. Doing it 1 week and not in ketosis yet, so think I need to drop the keto bread(1-2slices/day) until I get into ketosis. I have less energy this go round, so was going for easy.
I was getting the old version of Aldi bread but I stopped finding it locally. I picked up the Sola at WalMart a few weeks ago and have been using it since. Still a little bit pricey but I now have 5 loaves in my freezer. Once it thaws you can leave it in the fridge and it will last several days. The taste is good and I have used it for sandwiches, toast and even to make garlic bread in the toaster oven. It's a real life saver. I have also seen and tested the Arnold Keto bread. 3 net per slice. It's okay but thin and small. At $7 a loaf it's too costly for what you get. Sola all the way!
I discovered the Solo bread and have been using it quite often with no problems at all. I save it for special occasions when I just don't feel like making my own Keto loaf or Keto Hawaiian Rolls.
I haven't found their buns yet, I am in love with Kroger's Carbmaster hamburger buns at 4 net carbs per bun and I like them more than most "regular" hamburger buns!
I tried the buns... Have some in the house now. Great for smash burgers...pastrami sandwich... Even ham egg and cheese. Toasting it is the issue, never toast it very much.... Else it gets too dry. Same goes for the bread.
Thanks to you, Steve, I discovered the Sola breads, and I absolutely LOVE them. Being able to have a couple of slices of toast with my morning eggs, and being able to have an actual sandwich is such a game changer. My ONLY complaint with the Sola bread is the slices are so small, but it's still been such a welcomed addition to my diet.
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease 30 years ago, but your reviews are just so good! ;-) I have adult kids that I am trying to move toward lower carb options, I appreciate knowing which ones might pass their taste test.
I actually really like the Aldi bread, and I get no reaction from soybean oil. It's really tasty toasted, and I love getting ten grams of fiber in a piece of bread. The Sola doesn't have any substance to it, though I like the taste.
Thank you for checking your responses! Makes me feel more confident about trying new products. I know I still have to check myself on what works for me but I seriously appreciate it :P
So happy to hear the validation on the SOLA Bread, considering we just found a bunch of it- incl. the burger/dog buns- at our local discount grocery for $1.49 ea., major score! They sell it frozen at both Sprout's & our discount store, & it's as fresh as ever when we thaw it. In fact, I only take out what we're going to use & leave the rest frozen~ that's how well it keeps in the freezer. I tested w/the Mojo, but a 2nd opinion is awesome. Thanks for all your work Steve...& the consequences you endure, dang! =) -Sam in AZ

Amazing deals in there, I love that place~ have also found a lot of higher end protein powder/supplements there lately as well. Aldi has a new low carb bread that i really like, L'oven Fresh Protein Bread, 100 calories 4 net carbs per slice. Thick hearty multigrain bread with a ton of seeds. I absolutely love it!
Hi Steve, I just wanted to thank you - I think that you helped me discover that I have that either a wheat, gluten, or soybean oil intolerance - or something that's lurking in the low-carb tortillas and bread that I'd been buying. Lately I've been obsessed with egg white bread. I've been making Indigo Nili's recipe for about a month now, and loving it! I'd run out of bread and was foraging in my fridge for something to make a sandwich or wrap with and saw I had a package of Carb Balance tortillas. So I thought cool I'll just have one of those - well about a half hour after eating it I started getting the gurgling tummy feeling and I'm like where have I heard about this phenomenon recently?? And I remembered your video on Aldi and Soli bread - when you mic'd your tummy! I also realized that my back and knees felt tight, and were beginning to ache. I have old injuries that would flare up when I'd eat sugar - so naturally keto is perfect for me. It dawned on me at that moment that I had not had any pain since I'd been eating the egg white bread, and the culprit must the bread and tortillas. Anyway I know this is a long post and you're a busy man, but I just want to thank you! You've once again helped me attain a better and healthier lifestyle. You're the best!
I love that you are a texture judge. That’s my issue with a lot of things. And I’m glad you showed us the stomach issue. I have that problem with keto breads. I’m going to try Sola now!! Thank you for doing these videos!!!
As you mentioned, I've also noticed that some keto breads have a weird reaction to being buttered. What I've also found is that if I use ghee instead of butter the thinning/dissolving/soggy reaction is gone. Give it a shot and see what you think.
I had been hearing about Aldi Keto Friendly breads and was so excited. Recently went to Aldi, saw these products and was so disappointed in the ingredients. I miss bread and when I want it I make the quick bread in a mug but been wanting to get a loaf for the convenience. Looks like I will be sticking with making my own!! Thanks Steve for doing the dirty work for us, much appreciated!!!
I love Sola bread. I don't eat it everyday just when I want a good old fashioned sandwich. Have no problem with it. Agree with you Steve...I have arthritis in my right knee & if I have anything with soy bean oil the next day I get inflammation & it aches.
I just purchased Aldi's L'Oven Fresh bread hamburger buns the other day, and they are pretty great! Not perfect ingredients, but hubby is pleased that he can have a "real" burger again!
I just got some yesterday and absolutely love it. A few years of no bread or keto bread and this stuff is amazing. I get to have a burger where the bread doesn't stand out as having an off texture or extremely gritty and dry.
I love how I can scroll back through your videos to compare a product I just tried for the first time. You truly have a heart and talent in the keto community.
Thanks for the tests. My wife ordered a variety of Sola breads and bagels online last month and have to say they are all pretty darn good. We think their buns are way better than those overhyped keto bakes "best ever"buns, granted Sola is not clean keto. The Sola blueberry bread is our absolute fave. Makes incredible French toast and would not hesitate to serve to non keto guests!
Great review I have the Sola sweet & buttery loaf and love it! Ingredients aren’t perfect but for 2g net carbs and this flavor it works for me on the occasion I crave bread.
I have discovered in a review I'm working on currently, that there is a difference between Sola's grocery store products and what they sell on their website - both in terms of ingredients and glucose response.
I appreciate your review Steve and confirms what I already thought about Sola. It’s what I’ve been eating for the past year when I need a quick sandwich on the go. No adverse affects on my body at all, love it!
First time commenting, long time fan! I’ve been using Sola for a while now and am so happy you approved! They also have hot dog and hamburger buns- they don’t steam well and need to be used quickly. Their bagels, though... the plain are soft and wonderful for a Keto item. I toast my bagel and add either cream cheese or mashed avocado and sprinkle with Everything but the Bagel seasoning. YUM! Would like it if you could test the bagels for glucose spike! Love your videos and I’m sure you get this all the time, but you have an incredible radio voice! You should read something for the Calm app or do a podcast of some kind… Excellent Voice!
Steve, As always you did another great review! I recommend your videos to all of my friends. I agree with you that keto bread taste much better when toasted. I recently tried the Keto hamburger buns from Aldi and besides being a little bit smaller in size they taste wonderful with barbecue pork on it.
Thanks for this video! I went right to purchase the Solo Sweet Oat Bread. I found it at Walmart for $4.77, brought it home toasted a piece and ate it with a smile on my face. It really is good. Now, can they make some edible spaghetti, please.
I just recently tried Sola sweet oat and love it. I toast and butter it, then add cinnimon and sugar using Truvia. This hits the spot with a cup of coffee. A whole slice can spike my BS about 20 points. So, I usually have half a slice at a time with coffee. I tend to burn carbs more efficiently between 11am and 3pm. So I might try a whole slice during that time frame and see how it goes. Best LC bread I have tried to date.
I agree with a comment below, the Golden Wheat anyway needs to be well toasted, really browned to not quite burnt both sides, then it holds butter well and retains crunch through last bite.
Back into keto after a horrible 2022. Great video! Delauer always recommended Sola, and I used to eat it quite a bit before my hiatus. Great to see your testing show no spike in glucose. Much appreciated.
I had to pause your video... And go grab a slice of sola from the freezer... ☺️. Love me some sola toast with butter and cream cheese. Sometimes with choczero hazelnut mmm 😋
interesting review on the Keto/low carb breads. I have only tried the Franz brand from my local Costco. One gram of net carbs. It is okay. It is not enjoyable by itself, in my opinion - slightly off taste and relatively dry texture, of course what can one expect from something that is mostly fiber. I tend to use it as an ingredient where typical white bread would be used. My morning go-to is French toast. The combination of eggs, cream, a little sweetener such as munkfruit, dash of salt, cinnamon absorbed into a slice, fried in extra light olive oil, and served with some butter and warmed zero-carb maple syrup. It is so good. I also use it if I am making meatloaf; The keto bread makes a reasonable panade. I've experimented with drying and making bread crumbs for a coating on fried food but have had mixed results. I'll do seperate post on the glucose monitoring.
I have been ordering online from Alvarado Street Bakery their Flax Seed bread that has about 13 carbs for two slices. The only problem is that they charge a lot for shipping. I just order 6 loafs at a time and freeze them. It seems that they have some other organic breads that appear to be less carbs but they may be slim. They do have wheat in some of the products, but for me it worth the shipping cost to get the bread. Hope this helps if you are interested in looking for some bread.
I ordered the Sola bread online. It works well for me. It’s certainly not a croissant or bagel, but hey I have had my share of those treats in my lifetime and needed to move away from those carbs for health reasons. Thanks so much for the reviews. Very helpful.
I'm bummed the Aldi bread didn't work for you. The white (blue label instead of red) rather than wheat has better flavor, but a spike is a spike. Still works fine for my diabetic clientele in desserts and as breadcrumbs, but duly noted that it *does* spike for at least some.
I'm diabetic too, since it spikes for him I was going for the sola bread. We are having an Aldi's opening up near us soon, but i guess i will go Aldi's. Now I don't understand why it's not clean keto compared to Adi's? I just want to stay in ketosis for my diabetes
I've just found Sola bread while on travel. I've been quite happy with it and it hasn't spiked my blood glucose. I was checking around and they also have a set of different bagels as well. I miss my bagels... Also, I like the way the Sola bread toasts up to make sandwiches. I know that toast is an individualized thing....
Wow, guess I need to do some testing to see how I do with some of the Sola bread! I don’t think I’ve officially tested to have issues with wheat products per se. Thank you for this review which tells me to check to see if this might be a good emergency type fallback. Otherwise, I’m finding Indigo Nili’s latest Best Yet Egg White Loaf does a great job and has clean ingredients.
I like the Sola better too. They also make hotdog and hamburger buns. Another one I've been eating lately is Brownberry Superior Keto. It has soy ingredients though.
You're gurgling stomach was just plain hilarious. So you! Unfortunately, the only Sola bread available in my area is hamburger buns. I sure wish somebody would open up a keto specialty store. That would be sweet!
I have said it before, but I have to say it again.....absolutely love the testing videos. Here today because I was given 7 loaves of Carbonaut bread and remembered you tested it but then got caught up in watching this again. Good stuff.
Well, you'll be happy to know that I'm currently filming a review and glucose testing of 3 types of Base Culture bread (available at Whole Foods). That probably won't release until October 18.
A friend just told me about Sola bread today. Definitely worth trying! I am a bit concerned about the wheat. When I cut out wheat I stopped clearing my throat constantly. This will be a good test to confirm a wheat allergy or not. I like the Ole spinach & herb wraps for sandwiches. It would be nice to have a piece of toast at breakfast though. Thank you for your very informative videos!
Dude, you are awesome! Love the fact that you made this legit and allowed us to hear what was going on in your stomach, I can totally relate! Keep up the awesome videos and info!
These are good and helpful videos. I really enjoy the Sola hotdog buns. I brush them with garlic butter and they remind me of an Olive Garden breadstick.
Sola bread you have to toast it really dark then it’ll hold up to butter and cream cheese and actually taste good. I’ve tried many keto bread, Sola isn’t the best tasting nor the most similar to real bread but it’s the only that doesn’t kick me out of ketosis.
Wow! Such a quick response to the soybean oil! That tummy gurgle was obvious. It’s good that you know. Avoiding inflammatory foods can make your life more pleasant, long term.
We have found that the Arnold Keto bread that Walmart here carry’s is good. It does have organic soy bean oil and sunflower oil. We don’t eat a lot of it but is nice to have on hand for toast or a sandwich once in a while. We need to try the Sola. But I don’t think there is a good true Keto bread option available commercially.
Thanks so much Steve. I managed to get my hands on the last loaf of Sola bread at my closest US Wal-mart. It was the 'sweet & buttery' (2g net carbs). It is amazing.
Steve, although I went from channel "subscriber" to channel "member" to support your wonderful cooking videos...these occasional product reviews reflect a vigilance above and beyond. Thanks again. Bonus points for tummy gurgle. 😂LOL
I eat the arnold keto bread alot because it on all my local stores and thats the only reason I liked the Aldi bread better i mostly bake the keto cloud bread now
I have Sola bread, buns, and bagels in my freezer. Their hamburger & hot dog buns are delicious, as are most of the Sola products I’ve tried. The blueberry bagels aren’t too impressive, but a little ChocZero blueberry syrup made them much better. I can’t eat the popular PSMF bread. Way too eggy for me, and I need yeast to make bread tasty enough to pass for the real thing.
@@jujube2407 Thank you for your suggestion! I guess anything would be an improvement over the egg taste. I’m willing to try PSMF bread one more time, with Keto Chow.
Good stuff! The Sola bread sounds like a good option for a grilled cheese or when you really want the white bread and pickles experience with your BBQ. I might see if we can incorporate this into my super-picky kid's diet to replace some of the empty carbs.
Steve, I think I have reviewed all your bread testing videos. I am thinking the Kiss My Keto and the Sola Bread are the best bread you have tested in terms of taste, texture and glucose performance. I am hoping you will do a Superbowl-type video of the top 3 to 5 low carb -keto bread. Thank you for making these videos.
We love the Sola bread but it’s $5 a loaf in our area. But we’ll worth it when you want bread on low carb lifestyles. Thanks this just solidified our choice in bread.
Hmmm…I’m going to have to check and see if the Solo bread at my local supermarket has the same ingredients. The last time I tried it a couple months ago I had a glucose reaction to it.
I wish I felt better after eating low carb / keto breads... But they either impact my joints, cause gurgling guts, lots of gas... So I try and avoid them... I'm not always as strong on that front... The Costco keto hotdog buns are hard to resist... If you can find those and test them that would be awesome!
I’ve use sola bread and I find it very good in terms of flavor an texture but overall as a very low carb item. The only but is the price. However for all the likes of breads kind I strongly recommend you to visit de UA-cam channel Ketoserts…many many options of delicious bread. Thank you Steve for all your contributions.
We had got a LC bread in our bakery. It was nice to have dippy eggs before, but I think I am slightly allergic to one of the seeds that was in it. I put it in the freezer so maybe hubby will eat it…just the other day, I checked the regular bread aisle. I found a LC white bread by Brownberry. It is 3 net carbs per slice, and is fantastic. Almost so good, it’s scary. I never looked at the ingredients, of course I never have. I only paid attention to net carbs and sugars. This is definitely not the kind of thing I will eat daily, so it will probably join the other loaf in the freezer for when I want a salami sandwich, or dippy eggs. I’ve grown pretty accustomed to eating without bread. I do not have my own glucose monitor, but may get one in the future. Thanks for the video. It’s always good to see what may or may not be good.
By pure happenstance I just got back from a trip visiting family where I tried the Sola breads. I was pleased, especially as my Mom lives smack dab in the middle of rural southern Georgia. We had been discussing Keto a little over the phone for a few years, but when she told me she found some keto bread at Target of all places I was skeptical. But she did, and it was the Sola stuff. I tried 3 different “flavors” and they all were good - basically very negligible variations on the same thing. But it was a very nice substitute for the VWG based bread I have been baking for several years. After the trip to the rural GA Target I decided to search for something here locally. Surely I would have even more options. Nothing! And I live roughly in the San Francisco Bay Area (near Santa Cruz), near the world capital of high tech, and a foodie/crunchy nexus - supposedly. As if to add insult to injury the first loaf I baked once I got back after my failed local search of 5 grocery stores collapsed on me. That almost never happens. Where did you get yours? Any suggestions? Amazon is selling it, but I feel like bread is one of those things that may be iffy to get shipped.
@@SeriousKeto This worked! I guess checking the website was too obvious for me. I got extra, and even violated my long time prejudice and froze a few for emergency use. I was looking for any keto bread, but if turns out it was at one of the grocery stores well within my search radius but that I dismissed out of hand as one that wouldn’t have “that sort of item”. Oddly, my local Whole Foods type store has keto “peanut butter cup” type things on the checkout lines, but no bread options. I guess I’m going to have to be more scientific in my future searches for such things locally since going by my *feelings* as to which stores might stock keto items hasn’t been working. Possibly a video on how (and how not) keto has penetrated local markets would be very interesting, though maybe that one would require too much research. :)
I'll be looking for the Sola bread. Thanks for all the details. I have knee issues, so I don't need anything to make them worse. I haven't yet figured out what is agrivating my inflammation.
I am a professional baker and this is dead on wrt costs and shipping. It is hard to run a business with perishable goods. She should supplement with things not perishable like teas, etc but not heavy stuff like jam. I sell at local farmer's markets and also thru online orders. Subscriptions help as well, as they provide steady income. Kudos to her. Shipping is kicking everyone's butt right now. Running a bakery or anything perishable is a very tricky business model.

You should read something for the Calm app or do a podcast of some kind… Excellent Voice!
Thank you.
Throw them in the freezer for less starch
Steve, As always you did another great review! I recommend your videos to all of my friends. I agree with you that keto bread taste much better when toasted.
I recently tried the Keto hamburger buns from Aldi and besides being a little bit smaller in size they taste wonderful with barbecue pork on it.
Yes Aldi also spiked my blood sugar from the original batch. Solas original batch also spiked but somewhat lower than Aldi
Thanks for this video! I went right to purchase the Solo Sweet Oat Bread. I found it at Walmart for $4.77, brought it home toasted a piece and ate it with a smile on my face. It really is good.
Now, can they make some edible spaghetti, please.
What is olive pumice oil. I use pumice on my feet, lol.
Agree with you on the soy oil...won't touch anything soy based.
I love SOLA Sweet and was happy they changed their recipe. Thanks for the review!
Apparently, a number of people contacted them and complained about them using soybean oil. It's nice that some companies listen to their customers.
I love making cheese toast with the Sola bread.
I have tried all the keto breads, bagel and rolls. I always return to Sola. Very pricy when I was buying on line but my Walmart carries it now.
Wow I had no idea these products had been reformulated Thanks as always for the great review & self experimentation!
This was fantastic. The charts are a great tool.
Good tip
So glad to see this because I like the Sola bread a lot. They hold up well in a grilled cheese if you haven’t tried it.
Love the Blues Brothers reference!
GREAT JOB STEVE!😀👍 Thanks for all the info on those 2 breads. Have a blessed week 💜 🙏 ✌️ 🌞 💐 🎶
Thanks again for doing these! They're awesome. We've found so many keto products for when we "just gotta have em" because of you.
I really like the Sola Multi Seeded Bread, toasted with some fresh almond butter. Also, I would recommend the Sola Granola with almond milk.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.
I just bought my first loaf of Sola bread... the buttery white. I actually think it toasts better than most keto breads. Pretty good!
My personal best bread is SOLA_Sweet and Buttery sweet . Keep in freezer, for more benefit.
Thank you, I have been looking for a better stomach gurgle mic🙃. The old Aldi bread was better than the new. I will give Sola a try.
Glad to see this review Steve, found both sola breads at walmart about 3 months or so ago and have been using it and have been pleased with it.
Hi Steve, i find that i really need to toast low carb breads a lot so their fairly brown, then they don’t compress very much once you butter them 😉
Great tip!
Thanks so much for this! I’ve never tried the Sola bread before. I’ve settled for going without bread all this time lol. I might try it soon though.
😂LOL
Great review, as usual. You saved me money again!! Thanks Steve.
I eat the arnold keto bread alot because it on all my local stores and thats the only reason I liked the Aldi bread better i mostly bake the keto cloud bread now
Thank you for this review. I just bought this bread.
@@jujube2407 which flavor?
@@jujube2407 Awesome, thank you. I am well supplied with Keto Chow.
Sola 2for 5 is a great deal. Netrition sells 1 for 8.99. Always great info here with Steve.💖
I think I mentioned it happens about once a month, I’m assuming it’s when expiration dates are getting close. 😄
Good stuff! The Sola bread sounds like a good option for a grilled cheese or when you really want the white bread and pickles experience with your BBQ. I might see if we can incorporate this into my super-picky kid's diet to replace some of the empty carbs.
I tried the Sola, white a d I am in love with it. I'm not a super bread lover, but needed something to make cheese toast etc. It will Not disappoint.
I'll probably revisit the bread series later this year. But you are correct that I consider those to be the top two breads I've tested.
You never disappoint! Thank you.
We love the Sola bread but it’s $5 a loaf in our area. But we’ll worth it when you want bread on low carb lifestyles. Thanks this just solidified our choice in bread.
It's normally just under $5 by me, but once per month, it seems to go on sale for buy 1 get 1 free.
@@SeriousKeto What store?
@@stevengpreston Sendik's on Meadowbrook Rd.
Hmmm…I’m going to have to check and see if the Solo bread at my local supermarket has the same ingredients. The last time I tried it a couple months ago I had a glucose reaction to it.
I like the Sola bread but it's an every once in a whole for me. Enjoying the PSMF bread for everyday stuff
Yes - the Aldi bread is a little bit “sawdust” like. It is better buttered though.
I get Sola bread at my local Walmart, the sweet buttery variation. It's fantastic
I'll have to look for that.
I wish I felt better after eating low carb / keto breads... But they either impact my joints, cause gurgling guts, lots of gas... So I try and avoid them... I'm not always as strong on that front... The Costco keto hotdog buns are hard to resist... If you can find those and test them that would be awesome!
I'm pretty sure I did, if they are the Natural Ovens brand.
I use Carbonaut bread and buns. They are really good.
I’ve reviewed those as well
We had got a LC bread in our bakery.
I love your term "dippy eggs"!! Totally calling them that from now on😍😂🐤
@@tracyrobillard7431 ❤️💕
Always appreciate the work you put in Steve. Thank you.
When you bite into the toast it sounds appetizing.
Love the crunch.
Thank you so much for testing out Sola, I have been using it for some time and I was wondering how it affects my blood sugar.
On the Sola website, they have a store finder.
Walmart sells the Sola bread. Hot dog & hamburger buns also.
@@patriciamoad6938 Thanks!!!
I like the Solo bread. The first time in six months I had a piece of toast and was quite happy.
It's pretty good stuff
Great video! Have you ever reviewed Mission’s “Carb Balance” tortillas?
I’m working on a review of 10 or so tortillas. That is one of them.
Try the new WHITE bread from L'Oven Fresh, it's really good.
Came back for the review of the aldi keto bread, and realized why I have a gurgling stomach, literally saw the comment earlier I did a while back , glad you mentioned about soybean oil
Love it! The toaster startled me too hahaha... Thank you for doing these experiments for the community and putting your body through it!!! I know each body is different and reacts differently, but at least it gives us some idea. Aldi's bread is like cardboard. I love Sola.
Very thorough review Steve! Much appreciated and subscribed 👍
Thanks for your service. Sacrifice is appreciated.
