    Many people in the comments are confused about why (most) people use wireless gaming mice at their desktop. It is to get rid of the cable from obstructing mouse movements and to eliminate any potential tug/weight/etc. that the cable can introduce (think of it like why people use mouse bungees, except better). For most people it has nothing to do with hiding cables. So, as long as the cable is not attached to the mouse itself, then it does not matter if there is a cable connected to the receiver/mousepad to myself and most other wireless gaming mice users.

    • @gerardoricciardi8097
      @gerardoricciardi8097 7 років тому

      A10 Ok but, if you already have a mouse bungee, this is pretty much an easily avoidable problem.

    • @user-rb8zl2me1j
      @user-rb8zl2me1j 7 років тому +20

      Gerardo Ricciardi Not really, I much prefer wireless over a mouse bungee with cord and can tell the difference (I've tried both). Having a mouse bungee is irrelevant to buying this product in the first place anyway as the mousepad is for Wireless mice and solves the problem of not having to worry about plugging your mouse back in to charge along with charging while playing. Not really sure what your point is.

    • @user-rb8zl2me1j
      @user-rb8zl2me1j 7 років тому +8

      Sure I guess but that's kind of irrelevant to the point I was making about people being confused about the reason gamers use wireless mice and unjustly criticizing it for still having cables.

    • @BrianCheng24
      @BrianCheng24 7 років тому +2

      I personally think it's mainly for looks. A wireless mouse just gives a more clean look.

    • @gerardoricciardi8097
      @gerardoricciardi8097 7 років тому

      Brian Cheng I agree but it still has a cable attached to it, I don't consider it useless but kinda controversial.
      Ok wireless mice have the freedom of movement but again, with a well placed mouse bungee, with plenty of slack, I really can't figure out how the cable could catch on something, at least on my setup.

    The ”energy field” that you expressed concern over is nothing but an induction field. It’s pulse controlled magnetism and incredibly weak at that. But the strenght doesn’t matter anyway as far as your health is concerned. Even though magnetism is an electromagnetic field of energy it isn’t electromagnetic radiation meaning it can’t have an effect on you since it has no way of altering your chemistry nor to heat you up. It’s about as dangerous as your typical refrigerator magnet. Slide the magnet back and forth over a wire how ever and you can get a small light bulb to flash on and off. We’re not exactly dealing with ionizing radiation here.
    Invading alien metallic nano robots that happen to use your charge mat as a landing strip might be in for a bad surprise though. If you all of a sudden feel the smell of ozone accompanied by little screams of death coming from your charge mat you’ll know what’s going down. Sure surprised me the first time.

    I certainly like the concept. I am still using a G602 and its battery life is astounding. Months of gaming at a time. I keep a set of rechargable batteries handy, two in, two charging, and swap when needed. No downtime. So although it is a good use of wireless charging the pad isn't big enough to replace my extra large desk mat (keyboard and mouse) and the benefit over the G602 isn't there yet. But it is a step I the right direction I think.

  • @PETTYGANG
    @PETTYGANG 3 роки тому +3

    Im very curious about getting this mat lol. BUT it's to remove the wires of the mouse and keyboard (Currently own the TKL G915).... but the powerplay has A cord....so I replace the wire of the mouse w the wire of the powerplay.....ITLL BE NO DIFFERENT lol

    • @Disturbed1002
      @Disturbed1002 3 роки тому +2

      As far as looks, you are correct. The cord is still there. I guess I would say the difference comes in the feel of the mouse. Very different feel between a cord being attached to the mouse you are moving vs a mouse pad you are not moving.

    I have the pretty much the exact setup here (G-Pro keyboard, G903, and more recently the Powerplay mousepad). I can say I did feel a little like I wasted money on the mousepad. I only needed to charge it once every 2-3 days, and since I'm using the G-Pro keyboard, all I really had to do was unplug that every couple of nights, and use it for the mouse for overnight charging.
    That being said, I don't regret my purchase at all. It eliminates the need to charge completely. It is something I had to think about every night (has it been too long since I charged it? Then I'd have to look in the Logitech software, yada yada). The receiver is closer, the mousepad itself feels nice (and looks nice with matching RGB to the KB and mouse logos).
    As far as wireless vs wired mice go, I used a wired one for the longest time. Then I moved over to the G903. I didn't notice until I forgot to charge it one day and needed to use it wired for an hour while it charges (before I had the PowerPlay). Damn, just the weight of the cord, not even getting stuck on anything, felt uncomfortable. It was then that my appreciation for wireless mice was realized. There's a sort of resistance you don't realize when you get used to wired mice. And while it does add a cord, it's a cord that doesn't move, making it easy to cable-manage it.

  • @cakemnstr42

    well it just moves the cable. But it still is good idea. isn't the main benefit of a wireless mouse that your mouse movements won't be obstructed by a cable?
    That advantage still is there most people use a mousepad anyway so I don't it being pointless. what I wan't someday ist a desk that just charges everything I put on it. Headphone, keyboard, mouse, smartphone etc.
    but until then this should work. a few more size options would be nice though (even if they would get much more expensive the bigger they get)

      Also you can tuck away the cable in a way you cannot do with a wired mice (because you need slack). Just drill a hole in your desk and put in a nice cable routing plug, and away goes all cables. Did this for my keyboard already. 5min job, and looks way better than runnig cables across the end of the desk.

  • @petersonfamily6223

    I have had three of these. One was a replacement by Logitech. The issue is that the Powerplay will generate EMF interference while in the charging state, as indicated by the White LED on the pad receiver. I have the G903 Mouse, G910 Keyboard, and the Powerplay. I also use a Logitech MX Master 3 and Performance MX for productivity most of the time. I noticed the mouse cursor while using any other wireless mouse like the MX Master 3 or Performance MX was jittering, and I could not control it while the Powerplay was in the charge state!
    As soon as the charge state ended or I unplugged the Powerplay, the cursor would return to normal. As soon as the Powerplay returned to the charging state, the cursor would become erratic again! I also noticed the G903 generated a jittery mouse cursor while the Powerplay was in a charged state. It was not as bad as when using the MXM3, and I could select items, but the cursor was jittering until the charge state ended.
    So Logitech sent me a replacement Powerplay, and it had the same issue! Because I use my productivity Logitech mice the most, I would unplug the Powerplay pad to prevent the problem from occurring. When I wanted to game and use the G903 mouse, I would plug the Powerplay back in.
    Fast forward a few months, and I started to play Elden Ring on PC using an Xbox controller. I noticed intermittent issues with menu control. When trying to select or scroll through a menu using the Xbox controller, I could not choose anything, and it would jump around! At first, I thought this was a new game patch issue, but it continued to occur, and then I noticed the game was jittering slightly only on the monitor I was playing Elden Ring. When this issue remained after several patches, I discovered the Powerplay was causing the problem when it was in a charge state! Like the mice, the issue would disappear once I disconnected the Powerplay USB cable or stopped charging.
    I connected the USB connection directly to my desktop and other USB ports, but the issue persists. All device Firmware and G-Hub software are up to date. I even purchased a third Powerplay pad from BestBuy, hoping Logitech may have changed something, but the issue continues even on the newest Powerplay. The Powerplay produces some EMF that impacts other wireless devices, speakers, and monitors. I am not sure how the Powerplay is affecting my monitor. Still, it is only occurring on the monitor I am playing Elden Ring on, leading me to conclude the interface is coming through the Xbox controller and maybe producing micro character movement, which looks like screen jittering on my monitor.
    I have contacted Logitech again regarding this issue. I have not seen many reviewers reporting this, but I believe this is because most owners only use a Logitech G Mouse, so they do not know the impact on other wireless devices. However, there are a few reviewers who, like me, use different wireless devices and are experiencing the same issue.
    Edit: I have noticed my Panasonic wireless home phone has had interference for some time now. This wasn't always the case, and If I move away from my desk with the Powerplay, it goes away! It occurred to me that the Powerplay might also impact this phone. Sure enough, if I unplug the Powerplay mouse pad, all my home phone interference disappears!
    There is a Powerplay Charging Enable option in the G Hub Powerplay options section that will only work with Powerplay Firmware 7.1.11. G Hub will NOT update the Powerplay Firmware through the built-in update process, and you have to do this manually to update the Fireware to 7.1.11 to enable this option! With no help from Logitech support, I think I figured out a fix.
    You have to use the Logitech POWERPLAY Wireless Charging System Update Tool under downloads for the Powerplay device to actually update the Powerplay Firmware to version 7.1.11 to get the option to disable. Powerplay Charging! You can now disable Powerplay Charging until required, and it will not impact other devices. I am still checking this works and will update later. Good luck.

      The point of this is more for people who already have wireless gaming mice, it's much more convenient for it to charge on it's own without having to replace the battery or plug it in every few days. And people don't care so much about seeing cables as they do feeling the cable when dragging the mouse around.

  • @monsterrun

    maybe something people ignore about lithium ion batteries.. is that as much it is possible to recharge them and use them in the same moment.. you end up clogging the artheries of your batteries resistance much faster then normal. It is not recomended by most manufacturer to discharge and recharge the battery at the same time.
    While having a wireless mouse that can be turned off and pluged as a wired mouse, effectively charging the battery without discharging it at the same moment is the best way to maintain your battery for a long time.
    Battery resistors are extremly important in lithium ion pack, as they determine the maximum charging capacity of the battery and how long it can maintain a charge.
    Keeping a battery below the 30% threshold is hard on the resistors as much as keeping it above 80% for long time without discharge.
    and charging while discharging the battery give even more stress to the resistors.
    keeping battery bellow 30% for long time damage more the battery itself while giving stress on the resistors.
    update: forgot to mention how massive the stress you put on resistors when you charge and discharge at the same time after having completly discharged the battery.
    additional note: From rc cars battery manufacturers. After having completly discharged a battery it is recommanded to wait 10- 20 minutes before starting to charge the battery and also another 10-20 mins is recommanded after having fully charged before pluging it and discharging it.
    There is a good reason they make those recommandations.

    I wonder if you could put this under let's say a extended desk mat and it would still work. Not really a fan of just a mouse pad. Would rather have a pad for my keeb too.

    For less than 99 $ there are very decent wireless mice out there. I'm happily using the gigabyte aivia with 2 fast swappable battery packs each lasting for 2 days. One is constantly recharging in the dock. 0 issues so far, no noticeable input lag whatsoever

    • @ARCAD3BLOOD
      @ARCAD3BLOOD 2 роки тому

      Ok. Super. But you can also have 149$ one, because you liked it better.
      I have logitech pro, because it's the only one esport tier wireless mouse that is also for left handed people. And I'm not meaning that it is universal as most mouses. You can physically map buttons in this mouse hovewer you like on both sides, which makes it the most left-handed-friendly mouse. So i don't care about other 99$ mouse, because this one have all what i need and want.
      So until there will be something better And cheaper, i will stick to my mouse.

    Does anyone know if it would be possible to have it under your desk if the desk isnt thicker than 1cm? Would it charge thru wood so you can hide the cable?

  • @gunfumaster1024

    For the energy field being a health concern, it really shouldn't be. It uses magnetic induction to power a tiny generator in that weight slot, with the magnetic fields being fairly weak. Charging speed in this case is really measured on how fast the polarities switch on the magnetic field, not on how powerful the field is.

    The whole mouse pad thing just takes the cable from the mouse though and moves it to the pad so it's not reducing the amount of cables on your desk

  • @rodames1089
    @rodames1089 6 років тому

    This would be better. I dont know why do they need such BIG receiver attached to the pad?
    - Remove that brick receiver from the pad and put it at the middle usb cable
    - Put a micro receiver on the middle/top of the pad (i will be connected via cable to send the signal to the pc)
    I guess thats no possible, but man, I dont like this product.
    For those that dont want any cable, just get a rechagable mouse.

    There should be no health effects (good or bad) from the mousepad's energy field. Things only happen when that radiation is "ionizing" which this mousepad will definitely not give off. Veritasium has a good video explaining this effect.

    They should have gone with silicone as material like the *Roccat Hiro* mousepad. Best mousepad i have had and probably ever will have. I see no reason to change it soon. It is sturdy as a beast and combines the speed of plastic and the precision of cloth.

    Now I'm no physicist, but as far as I know the magnetic field generated by the Powerplay mat should not affect your health. Just like light doesn't, which, in reality is just electromagnetic radiation. Light is really just a lower energy variation of gamma rays.

  • @dispiedark8682

    for that price, no because a G900 was already 160 euro en i take it a G903 is about the same so not only 99 euro for the mat but 160 for the mouse that fits with it.
    maybe only make the middle charging there electrically conductive material for clothing already this thing could be far thinner, and flexible
    my thick steel series mat is at the max of thickness i like, and that is soft. With a hard piece of plastic i would not go for it
    a usb3 hub with two poort on the bulky sensor. so i can connect a keyboard and hide the cable under the board itself.
    Would be nice to get multiple of those click in units so you can make your mice heavier or lighter.
    But i must say why the G900 last me for a full day of heavy use mostly charges at night with cable or during none gaming the G900 is full after a watching a ep of a serie mostly.
    Still if this becomes standard and a lot cheaper i'm looking forward to it.
