Something to consider is if the mousepad is affected by humidity! Artisan mousepads are not affected by humidity unlike the logitech and the zowie. This is big for people who don't play inside an air controlled room at all times because it will feel inconsistent in different environments (in a room without ac or in a room with ac). Some pads get super muddy in hot environments and if you take gaming serious this is something you should consider.
Dude Optimum Tech lives up to his name! So much detail in his reviews. Really wish the artisan pads came in a desk size pad. OCD is a real issue for me so I like the keyboard to be on the pad too. Just a nice level playing field for both of my palms to rest on XD.
Well, it's great to see the differences with the experience of use not just specs, and since it's impossible to get some of them it makes this video a little more aprrenciated. Cheers! 🤘⚡
I'd also highly recommend corsair mm250. From my experience this is a high control pad with a lot of stopping power, a bit faster than Zowie GSR, but doesnt have humidity (and/or sweat) problems. I've been using it for a year or so and it's been excellent!
Old video, but my tip for cleaning a mousepad is simple (but requires you to have a backup). I have a desk pad which gets nasty over time since I do eat at my desk as well as have dandruff which clogs it up over time. Just put your pad in your tub and soak it, then use some dish soap and the soft side of a sponge to clean it. Rinse and repeat 2~3x times until it washes out clean. Rack dry it for a day. After that you pretty much have a brand new pad both in look and feel.
For those looking for the artisan zero fx they do have the artisan zero classic in stock and ready to ship now they only difference is that the classic doesnt have braided edges but if youre willing to sacrifice that then youll get it for 35 dollars for a XL soft vs 100 dollars everyone else is selling it for
Totally agree with the opinion on Hien and Hayate Otsu. I enjoyed it so much when use it for COD and Battlefield esp trying to play as "rush sniper". I am no where near pro, but definitely can feel with the precision, every quick swipe headshot is so satisfying.
For what is is worth... The Glorious Element Fire mousepad is basically a Fnatic Dash. The Fnatic Dash is available in larger sizes making it a better buy at $35-$40 versus the Glorious Fire unless you can find the Glorious Fire on sale during the holidays (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc).
It'd be amazing if you ever made a video trying the LTT mousepad, considering they made a video on the many hoops they jumped through to get it done to their standard, so I wonder how it'd compare to the tried and tested mousepads.
Thanks for your objective comments about mousepads. One suggestion for a video I would like to see: Talk a little bit about your desk! Things like optimal size, height, etc. Is for sure individual, but still, if you play with an XL mousepad, then there needs to be an adequate big surface somewhere. For exact that reason, I play with an M size pad and higher mouse sensitivity. Do not have a bigger desk ;-)
This is honestly the first time ever I agree with 100% of someone else's opinions on mousepads. Normally I find people's experience with them seem to differ so much with mine that I'm wondering if we're even talking about the same product. I used most of the pads in this video and everything is spot on, from the G640 having a break in period then being much slower but consistent for a few months to the GS-R being difficult for tracking and micro-adjustments and FINALLY someone else agrees that the Hien is difficult to control. Great camerawork too, you've earned a follower!
things people need to consider too when getting mousepads is mouse-feet as well. Stock mouse-feet or corepads end up being the more "controlled" feet, whereas Tiger Ice ends up being faster. because of that, one pad can control differently, which may or may not make it better in most cases. Right now my favorite combo is My GSR-SE + Tiger Ice on my RVU.
The thing is that with a lint roller, the fibers of the pad also lift, so for me personally, it damaged my artisan pad/ dind’t work. I found a solution that works very well for me but it is a bit of effort: If you are not using the pad, put masking film on it and try to replace the film you use after there is dust on it the next time you play. Not exactly resource efficient and kinda cringe though, but solved it
@@codexnecrogeddon Understandable, but MPC450 is like the perfect balance for a cordura fast pad. its fast but not super fast and has good amount of stopping power. Its not quite a speed pad but more like a hybrid imo.
What washed my FX Artisan Hien xSoft after using it for 8-9 months, and it feels like brand new. I used Dawn dish soap and medium temp water. Washing it was easy. The Hien is a beast. The Hien needs to be broken in. It is really fast at first, but once you break it in it turns into an almost perfect pad.
did you get used to the texture? I got used to it pretty quick but heard some say that it goes away. It blows my mind how much more glide it has compared to the texture.
@@notactivee How are you enjoying it? I also have a hyperx pad and hien.Personallly I prefer the Hien by a long shot. the quality and texture is amazing.
I've had the G640 for a couple of years. I really like it. The edges of the mat are starting to warp--not lying perfectly flat. The friction is a little low for what I like, but I've adapted to it and it's just personal preference anyways. My favorite mousepad I've ever owned was a SteelSeries pad (I lost it when moving houses). The SteelSeries was ever so slightly thicker and had a tad bit more friction. Overall the SteelSeries pad just felt higher quality. All that being said, the fact that my G640 has lasted this long and is still in good shape, is impressive enough to me. I wash it every few months, which I think has helped it last so long.
The Zowie G-SR-SE is amazing, i had the same mousepad but honestly the zowie is a direct upgrade to the G640 imo. Great stopping power at the same time as u have the speed. I love it. BUUUT if u have a lower sens the G640 maybe better
The G640 has a coating so be aware of any moisture as that could gradually wear it off. The coating will also wear with time with everyday use and this will make the texture change over the lifespan. lastly, If you live in a humid area this mouse pad will feel like mud as the friction increases. Keep these factors in mind if your planning to buy this mouse pad.
@@MrBenderrrr Lethal gaming gear makes very high quality mousepads that aren't overly expensive and they come in a few different sizing options and texture. They have no coating on the surface and are not affected by humidity so the pad should feel the same throughout the whole lifespan. The only issue is that the mousepads are a new release and are very popular so some models may be out of stock. Also if you don't live in the US or close to the us, shipping may be expensive.
Agree that the issue with the G640 is wear. And the problem is it may not wear evenly. My first one became unusable for gaming, because it developed slower worn patches that felt like tugging on a mouse cable that had run out of slack. It's like there's a slick coating on the top of the pad that wears out over time. It would be fine if the wear was even, but in my experience it wasn't. It wore out pretty suddenly, too, I thought that I must have spilled something sticky on the mousepad, it was such a stark difference in glide speed. I do think it's a good pad -- I bought it again recently when I found at a sale price -- but you have to anticipate that it will eventually wear out.
I have gotten a little creative recently and been using a hard mousepad on top of different thicker and larger mousepads/deskmats for the last months. The combination is pretty fast but still has some control and it now feels pretty natural to me. I love switching deskmats to accent my setup but they seem too slow and soft for competitive gaming, so this approach has been my weird solution.
Reviewing and recommending this much mousepads based on pure personal experience is not a easy thing to accomplish, that's pure content creation and I love it.
Solid takes, I have all of these pads as well. My main for a while now has been the GSRSE for Valorant, it is the pad I play the best on no doubt. I would suggest the Inked Gaming Pad for anyone's first pad for tac shooters. For BR's and fast shooters, as a first pad I would suggest the Hayate Otsu B mid if you have the money and if you don't I would suggest the Razer Strider or Aqua Control Plus (The white and colored variants are the same(The black one is the only one that is not heat pressed and they renamed it the Aqua Control 2 to reduce confusion)).
A good alternative to the Artisan pads are X-raypad. I have their aqua control plus mousepad which is close to the hayate otsu in terms of speed and control. If you want an allrounder you can go for that. Rubber base and good build quality, will not lose glide even after washing it
*Pro Tip for the Artisan Zero:* Pre clean it with disinfectant Spray and constantly swiping with a micro fiber cloth or one of those Cloth's you use to clean Glasses with. Then you get most of the hair out with the Lintroller and it will be as good as new when its dried.
Xray pad Aqau Control 2 is a great choice. Its cheaper than some of the high end brands and in my opinion its just as good. Cant beat the price to performance on it.
Mouse feet should not be overlooked in terms of glide feel imo. I too consider Hien SOFT to be a bit too fast for my preference but a pair of Tiger Arc 2 made it much more manageable.
I play siege/valorant/warzone on low-medium sens and I enjoy the Hien XL. Obviously everyone has their own preferences and one day I'll probably try the Hayate Otsu XL but for now I've been pretty happy with my purchase. Great video like always Ali
Hien has a wear in period, I'm on my second XL Xsoft, using gfloats on a pulsar xlite(sanded the bottom, glued the feet) the best setup I've had so far for micro adjustments (36cm/360) need to get a hayate otsu sometime in the future and compare
I have the Hien as well and I plan on getting thr otsu to try since his comments on “sandpaper” texture are spot on for me. I am always wearing a sleeve to play because of the irritation. I’m not sure if I will like the slower pad though. I was on hard pads before the hein.
Holy crap!! Guess I am not alone. I am using g-floats on a Hien as well. I can't believe people have not discovered this combo yet. As you said, it allows for microadjustment
@@-Cesh- I feel like I'm going crazy, I've been using the hien for about 6 months and no issue at alll with the wrists getting irritated. Maybe I aiom in a diferent way? (I tend to use my wrist rather tthan the arm)
@@AlohaBiatch Me too it doesn't irritate my wrist or arm on the Hien. It feels kinda rough but smooth. Out of the box tho is rough and tingly but it will fade.
some disclaimers that I noticed. Might wanna read b4 u buy. (I own GSR and zero soft but I watch too much boardzy and other mousepad reviews) G640: - has a coating, so its a medium speed pad w/ coating, but its super inconsistent speed wise without coating - a lot of apex and val pros use it simply b/c they're 1. sponsored, 2. see those sponsored pros use it, so they use it. - the coating wears off pretty quick, especially if u play games like 1-2 hours every day glorious fire: - its just another fnatic dash but smaller and more expensive.. GSR: - there's no such thing as a "break-in" period for non coated pads like the GSR. They just simply get slower overtime with use and wash. Imagine these non coated mousepads as shirts. zero: - in my experience, I have hairs stuck in the mousepad (idk a zero owner who doesn't), but I have NEVER felt them when gaming.
for the artisan mousepads (apart from shidenkai) u can just soak the mousepad in water to loosen the hair particles that get stuck. Then u can use the lint roller to easily clean it. Becs of its build quality, soaking it in water wont damage it
i recommend GTF-X from zowie for a cloth mousepad where you won't need high maintenance for. its half plastic half cloth which means it is a hybrid, do be aware that the mousepad surface is tough (not hard as hard pads. and not as soft as cloth) once you get to its breaking point it doesn't really get muddy that much compared to other cloth mousepads
Good review! I had 3 pads: Zowie G-SR Large, Glorious Helios and Logitech G640. Zowie G-SR Large - I didn`t like at all, as Optimum Tech said I felt what I fighting this pad. + It becomes durty very quickly. Glorious Helios - hard pad. Decent but very small (good if you play only on high sens), I liked it, but this pad derstroys your mouse skates in just 2 weeks bcz of it`s surface and it changes the feeling of your mouse. Logitech G640 - best choice. Together with G-Pro Superlight the best combo (at least for Valorant).
Only thing i wish they would improve on G640 is a rubber base same as Artisan pads & and low profile stitched edges, it would be a endgame right there.
coolermaster mp510 i think is another underrated option. it’s relatively cheap, the cordura fabric provides lots of control and doesn’t wear (been using it for about 3 years now), only thing to get used to is the textured rubber on your arm. other than that it’s great!! recommended by rocket jump ninja as well!!
@xDuckRice Personally the only two mousepads I've tried and can reccomend are the Traigun and Xtrfy GP4 which I both really like, although I tend to play better with the Traigun since it's a lot faster and I track better with fast pads. If you live in the US the Lethal Gaming Gear mousepads should be really good, they will also start selling pads in europe soon BTW! You should check out Boardzy's mousepad tierlist where he ranks over 70 mousepads he tried! Good luck with finding a new mousepad!
I tried a lot of mousepads but eventually I just wished my whole desk was covered in mousepad. So I ordered a custom size plain black mousepad from Xraypad in the dimensions of my desk. It was 80 bucks and totally worth it.
@@pendrewproduction5532 idk man you can try whatever you want. You can go x7 by a4tech its cheaper than everyone almost same quality i dont notice diference. Only if you want 0 glide you can go with something more expensive like steelseries or whatever brand.
I LOVE U. You are a amazing tech reviewer, and you’re also cracked. You play all the popular games and understand how we like to play and what we need. Ur the best
i just watched 20+ yt videos about mousepads and now here you are posting this vid. excellent timing sir. i missed the lgg venus, would like to hear your opinion on this pad.
The zero in mid actually feels much closer to the otsu with that tiny bit more tracking power then the soft, its a VERY good combo. The hair issue is so annoying tho. I currently keep going between this and the otsu in mid. I like mid because the pad surface never moves under duress
If you're looking for thick desk and soft pad that is very comfortable for elbows / wrists, you may wanna have a look at Fusionstrike original limestone desk mat. Been using it for 3 years personally and my friends, so far it's been great so we made a whole batch of them. Currently ship within UK but could sort out international shipment too. The rubber is made from sustainable limestone rock (instead of oil/petrol) which makes it more environmentally friendly than most desk mats out there. It's laminated with super stretch smooth nylon so it's mouse compatible and very gentle to skin.
Like my Logitech G640 but do not love it due to poor construction/durability. Apart from points made in the review... Love the way it integrates with the wireless charging pad and mouse. Hate that the leading edge of the pad has delaminated after less than 6 months of use due to my forearm and/or palm rubbing against it.
Im going to give the G640 a try i can get it for $29.99 right now. Coming from a thick, slow razor (don’t even know the name) pad so it’ll feel nice to be able to move faster with a wireless mouse i finally got.
I have to say that the things he said about the Zowie GS-R are spot on as I have been using it for a while now and have the exact same things happening for me
I suggest giving the razer strider more time. I switched to one from a slow cloth pad and once I got used to it my mind was blown. I can’t go back. My aim is pure fire on the strider. I’m a 4060 peak Ashe/widow/hanzo player for reference.
Just got it and I'm leaning toward preferring it over the Logitech, but I'm curious if the eDPI has anything to do with it. I play on 3200, which is on the lower side, so maybe someone with twitchier aim prefer to have more resistance?
@@kingofyoursoul its still very good. its a difficult pad to use, but when u get in the zone with it its unstoppable. i use it on days when my aim is on point.
MSI agility GD20 is the one I recommend if you are a high sensitivity player and are looking for a moderately sized mousepad. Its low friction makes micro adjustments effortless, yet it provides enough control when you make bigger movements. I own mine for three years and it's still in great condition.
I really like your videos! I’d recommend you give the Skypad another try, it takes a week or two to get used to, but honestly it’s just pretty nuts. Deceptively high control and stopping power, given that you have good mouse control.
I moved from a Zowie Gsr to a Cooler Master MP510 because the zowie was getting old and held moisture a lot and was a pain to clean. The mp510 is actually really good and I've never had to clean it because of the material. Worth a look in.
Really like my Zero X-Soft, wish I went with soft but all good. I find for slower long strafe scenarios the Zero does fine, games with fast strafes you’ll definitely want a pad with a bit more speed. The day I got my Zero I broke my personal best for my Kovaaks scores on all the scenarios I play. Pretty impressed considering I stopped playing games for about a month due to life picking up. Definitely a goated pad.
Thank you very much. Good information. I've got the LTT mouse pad at 1000/700mm. Works great for US$29. All sizes are the same price. Great quality. Thanks again.
I use only cloth mousepads and I am very happy with them. They feel very smooth and don´t wear the mouse stands down so much. I use now the Razer Firefly Cloth Edition 1 and it´s top.
Something that you don't mention but is extremely important is the humitidy where you live. Some mouse pads feel almost "sticky" in high himidity enviroments.
I've tried a lot of mousepads and hopefully with my own personal experience it can help people with their purchasing decision. I can give an honest list of the best ones and alternative pads (i.e artisan, glorious fire, etc.) in 5 different categories listed in order from slowest to fastest: Slow: LGG Jupiter (slowest pad on the list, if you want something similar to a GSR or Equate) Control: Gamesense Radar/Inked Gaming (the best alternative to most popular generic cloth pads, i.e hyperX fury s, logitech G640, etc.) LGG Saturn/Odin Eclipse (artisan zero alternative, the eclipse is very smooth and does not have the same issues that plagues the zero with dust and hair getting stuck. I have not tried Saturn but I have faith that LGG have a true zero competitor) Medium: Esports Tiger EBA/Mousepad Company/Aqua Control + Super (dechanic control alternative, only get the Mousepad Company if you need a large desk size pad and prefer the design of the mousepad company, otherwise get the EBA or AC+ super) Aqua Control + (not sure if the coating has changed in terms of the AC+ for the designed pads such as the strata version but from personal experience it became slower and inconsistent after a couple months use. The white and black version has remained consistent in terms of performance and I have had the pads for nearly 10 months now) Fnatic Dash (glorious fire alternative, easily one of my favorite pads. Love the smooth surface and glide. It pairs well with my mice with corepads) Quick: LGG Venus (cheaper hayate otsu alternative, probably my best performing pad) LGG Mercury/Odin Infinity/Gamesense Rush (all cheaper Hien alternatives, essentially the same in performance, just pick the brand you like) Fast: Esports Tiger Grandmaster or SE Qin/Jin (I really enjoy this pad especially in fast paced games like Apex. I would opt for the regular grandmaster instead of the SE version since you get the same nylon pad surface for lower cost) Endgame Gear MPC/Traigun/Eve (if you want pads that will last basically forever get any of these cordura pads, they have very low initial and dynamic friction but not as fast an artisan shidenkai or glorious ice for example. Get this pad if you have steady hands and need a really fast pad) Note: to reiterate this is based off my personal experience and opinion. Most of what I wrote is similar to a small UA-camr named NotSoCommonSense if you need a more visual representation of comparison of mousepads and has a mousepad master sheet that closely represents my thoughts on the pads. Hope this helps!
@@tmifb9926 appreciate it! LGG or Lethal Gaming Gear is a relatively small but quickly growing company that specializes in aftermarket gaming peripherals. You can buy mice, mouse feet, Paracord cables (which are really nice to replace mice with rubber cables but I don't get it anymore because most cables on mice are really good nowadays), and even micro switches. Now they are selling their own mousepads. And I very much trust the owner to deliver excellent products. Not only does he know gaming peripherals well he also knows his stuff about audio equipment, after a deep discussion on headphones and dacs & amps. So I have much respect for him and he is very responsive if you ever have an issue with an order
You are very, very, very good at FPS games and you have an absolutely amazing UA-cam channel. Your videos are clean, crisp, succinct, and to the point.
if ur looking to upgrade, get metal mouse pad,, will change ur life update: metal mousepads have 2 texture super smooth(aka fast) for FPS and a rough(aka slow) for rpgs, u getting the best of both worlds for a better price
The Hien is definitely hard to tame initially coming from all those other pads but once it gets broken in the low static friction/control ratio is absolutely insane. That being said I’m back on the zero and Vaxee pa…
@@SkateEvan1 did ur zero get faster or slower? Mines brand new and feels just a tad bit quick/slick and out of control, I’m hoping this will change once broken in
@@tinocabral4201 i haven’t noticed any real change in the glide, maybe a tad bit slower but it’s an easy pad to get used to so I’d say just stick with it. If you want something with a similar feel but slightly higher friction and stopping power look into the PA
Personally enjoyed the Glorious Ice pad but unfortunately the slows spots that develop on the pad after months of use is annoying. Bearing in mind I clean the surface of the pad regularly. So with this video I'm definitely looking to moving towards fabric based mousepads.
I want to say that the glorious ice and air pads are good, as I have used both, but they only are good if your sens is extremely low (like mine). I run 1800 dpi @ 0.2 sens on CSGO so pretty low. I main as an AWPer and the extremely low friction really helps with flicks. There is an adjustment period, but I still would like to mention this, as he sort of glossed over them and didn't recommend them. These pads are very use case for extremely low sens players that flick a lot.
@@idkwhatname3133 Maybe for you. Not for me though. Just because your experience is different than mine doesn't mean I'm "clueless". Like I said, there is a specific use case for the pad, and I find it works well for me. At the end of the day, each pad is down to preference. I gave my experience so that others like me, may look at this mouse pad and consider it. If you don't like it personally, that's fine. Also I'd like to put down that I've used many different mouse pads over the past 10 years+ including Razer's hard "control / speed" mouse pad, no mouse pad at all, many cloth pads, artisan pads, etc. I am saying what works for me and it will not be the same as everybody else's preference. I have always used speed / hard pads when available and so I'm very used to the feel precision a speed pad requires. I actually think that maybe you're the clueless one if you really think that speed pads don't have a use case especially with the extreme low sensitivity that I play on.
I've been using the Logitech G440 hardpads for the longest time, just suits me best. Also because i often get dry hands during the winter days and don't like to get stuck all the time.
so I've used a variation of the Hein for quite some time, started with the soft in siege, and went to a mid in apex, as my aim has gotten better and I personally have matured I find the pad too fast, so I went out and bought a zowie gsrse (the current one, didn't go for the insanely popular and expensive 2017) and the way you described the gsr is how I feel about the sr se, I feel stuck. with my Hein its like I don't have to even think about tracking when my hand just does it for me, but I still find it too fast for anything needing the slightest bit of control, I looked at the zero because I have heard such great things but its never in stock, would the otsu be a good choice or should I wait for the zero to come back in stock?
The problem is, im not paying $200 for a Mousepad, i really dont care how good it might be. Its a piece of fabric. I agree with paying a lot for good tech like mouses/keyboards, but not a mousepad. Not happening.
That's what I'm saying. Only exception is people who play games professionally & semi professionally. Even then Some of these pads have Ridiculous prices.
@@tharukanisal460 The problem is when they support it, theyll keep making them expensive. They cost $20 at most to make the fancy Artisan ones, and if nobody bought them at their ridiculous price, then they would be forced to lower the price.
I think they are overpriced because of the quality control. People get really anal about the imperfections. The thing is, you can probably try some cheap ones, and there is a good chance one of them is just as good. You just need a consistent surface to drag the mouse on, that’s it. The cheap ones are more likely to have imperfections, but if you find one that’s even and has just the right friction, you can use it until it wear off and buy another one. You really don’t lose anything. Just try them out first.
@@JM-tj5qm It doesnt have anything to do with Quality Control because when you make a good product from the start Quality Control doesnt take any time. Every company has quality control, and there are plenty cheap objects that have better quality control than objects that cost 10x as much. I know plenty about the mousepads and have tried and found the ones that I like the most, and they arent near as expensive as the others, and their quality control has been just fine. You do lose out when you pay $200 for a mousepad that you either dont like or feels and does the same as the $40 mousepad youve been using the whole time. That is a loss. Most people dont have the money to just try everything out.
First, credit where it's due, I greatly agree with your opinion on the logitech mousepad! As someone who's used the smaller, thinner version of the g640 for almost 5 years now (I've also used the g640, however I've found it to be too big for my personal use), I 100% agree with your points about it. However as I continued to watch the video, I have to say that I find your comments about the mousepads rather... lackluster? You made it a point to mention about the "speed" of the mousepad and how the "speed" varies in utility for different games, however you didn't make it a point to really describe what you meant by "speed". Personally I'm wondering if maybe you mean the smoothness of the mousepads. However in that case, would you be referring to the speed of your wrist/arm on the mousepad? Or force exerted to make the mouse go a certain speed? Another point I admittedly didn't really realise, was that this was a highly subjective review, as implied from the title. In which case I have to ask, would it be a good idea to recommend the artesian mousepads to highly? Of course I understand that some people come with the overarching question of "Ok, so what is a mousepad that you'd recommend?", however when being subjective with the review, does it not give your recommendation quite a heavy bias? Alternatively, I may have perceived the intention of the video wrongly, and you were trying to be objective about the mousepads. In which case I'm sorry to say but you made some pretty clear biases with your own experience, such as saying that the razer mousepad may be a lesser option that the artesian one when it came to a certain game (apologies for not citing exactly, as I'm typing this out on mobile). That advice was subject to your aim "style" and experience with games, although admittedly I get that you tried to be objective about the games. I have some more slight issues with the way you presented the mousepads, however, even I feel that I'm just looking for points to discredit your review. No. I can say that I've received some insightful information regarding the artesian mousepads, however I still stand by my points. I think there are definitely some improvements that can be made, one of which I think would be great for a subjective review is a visual pros and cons list. Your thoughts about the mousepads felt somewhat, scattered? I think a visual list would definitely make your points more concise. Small note, sorry for giant block of text!
Ever try the Glorious Ice with their ceramic glides? I have a friend who has one of their mice with the glides installed with an ice pad and it seriously feels like you're using a mouse on actual ice -- virtually silent glide and it'll move even if you breathe on it. I tried it and while it makes tracking pretty effortless, twitch-aiming will require completely recalibrating your muscle-memory to stop overshooting everything.
I have that exact setup and unfortunately, that glide doesn't last forever, especially if you don't wash it frequently (yes, with soap and water). I'm currently looking for something with a bit more control and less maintenance. Considering the Glorious Fire mousepad bc I've heard pretty good things about it and the dimensions of the glorious element pads are perfect for me.
a bit weird to not see the Steelseries Qck+ here as it is one of the more popular options out there. Maybe in a second mousepad Round up. Great content as allways
I'm a big fan of SteelSeries QcK, seems to hit a sweet spot for all the games I play (no 'sticky' static friction, but medium dynamic friction which helps with consistency.) Also very good durability, no edge fraying and I haven't noticed any change to friction where I use my mouse a lot. My first mouse pad was some Corsair one and I do not recommend at all
I bought a QcK Heavy about 12 years ago and I still use it to this day, it's heavily worn down but it still is very consistent and usable and I think that speaks for itself
@@Yuzuki1337 im impressed on you like how a cloth mousepad can be worn by a gamer for over a year is like absolutely impossible but i think you are good at keeping your stuff so you made it worth like 12 times (at least) more than it used to be
@@alwandhiyaharits3971 I think that might be because the qck Heavy is a massive chonker of a mousepad! And yeah I love mine to bits so I refuse to replace it for as long as it works, which at this point might honestly be a few more decades!

"And I think mousepads recently have been on this sort of trend of things to consider upgrading if you're into FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS LIKE MYSELF and you've run out of things to upgrade-" Bro. Them's fighting words. I'm a programmer with an Artisan Raiden. Not a game on my system. Do you know how much RSI you get mousing across multiple 43" monitors for 16 hours a day on a shitty pad?
I play with low sensitivity and I hate that most Mousepads-Sizes stop at 40cm height. Thats a little to short for me. 45cm height would already be enough.
I went from a Hien to a Hayate Otsu for a few months and then back to the Hien and I did notice an immediate improvement in my aim playing Apex and Halo Infinite. I do vividly remember there being an adjustment period with my Hien, both in terms of speed and even comfort (contact with my skin and the pad)
Solid video, as usual. I tried a few Artisan pads (Hien, Hayate, and Shiden) 10 years ago or so, wasn't a huge fan over the long term, weren't easy to clean and the surfaces seemed to wear out faster than it should. Been using a Steelseries QcK on and off over the past few years and seem to always go back to it, good control, pretty durable, and you can throw it in the washing machine to clean it. I'm no pro by any stretch of the imagination, so this is just the opinion of an average joe.
I have been using a QcK for several years now and although I don't have any point of comparison to other pads, I have really enjoyed it for Dota and CS GO.
thanks for your comments! really liked the vid, i got myself 2 zowie gs r before trying them because they were so hard to get and found them a bit too slow for cs , their stopping power is wild, i found that with my deathadder v2 the goliathus speed stragely was my favorite mix over all. its 70 cm large and doesnt really fit my keyboard so i will give the logitech g640 a chance thanks to your review!

Something to consider is if the mousepad is affected by humidity! Artisan mousepads are not affected by humidity unlike the logitech and the zowie. This is big for people who don't play inside an air controlled room at all times because it will feel inconsistent in different environments (in a room without ac or in a room with ac). Some pads get super muddy in hot environments and if you take gaming serious this is something you should consider.
thank you for pointing that out, midwest considerations

Old video, but my tip for cleaning a mousepad is simple (but requires you to have a backup). I have a desk pad which gets nasty over time since I do eat at my desk as well as have dandruff which clogs it up over time. Just put your pad in your tub and soak it, then use some dish soap and the soft side of a sponge to clean it. Rinse and repeat 2~3x times until it washes out clean. Rack dry it for a day. After that you pretty much have a brand new pad both in look and feel.
I've been using the same QCK+ for 7 years, it's still alive and working well :D
Shout-out to this man for actually going over mice and mousepads. No one else does that! You're the man!

For me, the raiden is too slow. I do so much better on pads like shidenkai, glorious ice, and skypad
things people need to consider too when getting mousepads is mouse-feet as well. Stock mouse-feet or corepads end up being the more "controlled" feet, whereas Tiger Ice ends up being faster. because of that, one pad can control differently, which may or may not make it better in most cases. Right now my favorite combo is My GSR-SE + Tiger Ice on my RVU.
are tiger ice mouse feet significantly faster than stock?
@@caiusthue9606 depends on the pad, and compared to Razer’s stock feet they are. On my GSR-SE pad they are a bit faster/smoother.
Ever tried doing opposite? A faster pad like P/GTF-X (again from zowie but i read its very resistant and easy to clean) with slower feets?
The thing is that with a lint roller, the fibers of the pad also lift, so for me personally, it damaged my artisan pad/ dind’t work. I found a solution that works very well for me but it is a bit of effort: If you are not using the pad, put masking film on it and try to replace the film you use after there is dust on it the next time you play. Not exactly resource efficient and kinda cringe though, but solved it
What I love about vr fps is that is perfect out of the box, no sensitivty setting nor friction to worry about because it is just natural as it is.

Same for me, after I used to it theres no turning back to any other mousepad in the world. Absolutely love the Hien.
I just ordered an FX Hien Soft pad and I’m really hoping I don’t regret it. I currently use a hyperX speed pad so I’m not sure what to expect

@@AlohaBiatch yes the hien was definitely something different at first, but now that I’ve broken into it it’s honestly great and I’ll never go back
I've had the G640 for a couple of years.
Which mouse pad would you recommend which doesn't have any coating?
@@MrBenderrrr Lethal gaming gear makes very high quality mousepads that aren't overly expensive and they come in a few different sizing options and texture. They have no coating on the surface and are not affected by humidity so the pad should feel the same throughout the whole lifespan.
The only issue is that the mousepads are a new release and are very popular so some models may be out of stock. Also if you don't live in the US or close to the us, shipping may be expensive.
This is the video I didn’t know I needed so much. Thanks
THIS IS SO CLUTCH I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR A MOUSE PAD THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!
I do the same
Reviewing and recommending this much mousepads based on pure personal experience is not a easy thing to accomplish, that's pure content creation and I love it.
Rubber base and good build quality, will not lose glide even after washing it
My aqua control + has delaminated :(
you are the only person i trust for things like this, because your actually good at the games you play and you clearly care about the things you use
*Pro Tip for the Artisan Zero:*
Pre clean it with disinfectant Spray and constantly swiping with a micro fiber cloth

That transition at 8:00 with the flick left was so damn clean. Nice job.

some disclaimers that I noticed. Might wanna read b4 u buy. (I own GSR and zero soft but I watch too much boardzy and other mousepad reviews)
G640:
- has a coating, so its a medium speed pad w/ coating, but its super inconsistent speed wise without coating
- a lot of apex and val pros use it simply b/c they're 1. sponsored, 2. see those sponsored pros use it, so they use it.
- the coating wears off pretty quick, especially if u play games like 1-2 hours every day
glorious fire:
- its just another fnatic dash but smaller and more expensive..
GSR:
- there's no such thing as a "break-in" period for non coated pads like the GSR. They just simply get slower overtime with use and wash. Imagine these non coated mousepads as shirts.
zero:
- in my experience, I have hairs stuck in the mousepad (idk a zero owner who doesn't), but I have NEVER felt them when gaming.
for the artisan mousepads (apart from shidenkai) u can just soak the mousepad in water to loosen the hair particles that get stuck. Then u can use the lint roller to easily clean it. Becs of its build quality, soaking it in water wont damage it
even the zero?

i had a g640 for 4 years, today i got a hien soft and my aim improved a lot, i was jade complete, now i am master
i recommend GTF-X from zowie for a cloth mousepad where you won't need high maintenance for. its half plastic half cloth which means it is a hybrid, do be aware that the mousepad surface is tough (not hard as hard pads. and not as soft as cloth) once you get to its breaking point it doesn't really get muddy that much compared to other cloth mousepads
Large is the only size of G-SR by the way.
The small version is P-SR.

Like my Logitech G640 but do not love it due to poor construction/durability. Apart from points made in the review... Love the way it integrates with the wireless charging pad and mouse. Something that you don't mention but is extremely important is the humitidy where you live. Some mouse pads feel almost "sticky" in high himidity enviroments.
I've tried a lot of mousepads and hopefully with my own personal experience it can help people with their purchasing decision. I can give an honest list of the best ones and alternative pads (i.e artisan, glorious fire, etc.) in 5 different categories listed in order from slowest to fastest:
Slow:
LGG Jupiter (slowest pad on the list, if you want something similar to a GSR or Equate)
Control:
Gamesense Radar/Inked Gaming (the best alternative to most popular generic cloth pads, i.e hyperX fury s, logitech G640, etc.)
LGG Saturn/Odin Eclipse (artisan zero alternative, the eclipse is very smooth and does not have the same issues that plagues the zero with dust and hair getting stuck. I have not tried Saturn but I have faith that LGG have a true zero competitor)
Medium:
Esports Tiger EBA/Mousepad Company/Aqua Control + Super (dechanic control alternative, only get the Mousepad Company if you need a large desk size pad and prefer the design of the mousepad company, otherwise get the EBA or AC+ super)
Aqua Control + (not sure if the coating has changed in terms of the AC+ for the designed pads such as the strata version but from personal experience it became slower and inconsistent after a couple months use. The white and black version has remained consistent in terms of performance and I have had the pads for nearly 10 months now)
Fnatic Dash (glorious fire alternative, easily one of my favorite pads. Love the smooth surface and glide. It pairs well with my mice with corepads)
Quick:
LGG Venus (cheaper hayate otsu alternative, probably my best performing pad)
LGG Mercury/Odin Infinity/Gamesense Rush (all cheaper Hien alternatives, essentially the same in performance, just pick the brand you like)
Fast:
Esports Tiger Grandmaster or SE Qin/Jin (I really enjoy this pad especially in fast paced games like Apex. I would opt for the regular grandmaster instead of the SE version since you get the same nylon pad surface for lower cost)
Endgame Gear MPC/Traigun/Eve (if you want pads that will last basically forever get any of these cordura pads, they have very low initial and dynamic friction but not as fast an artisan shidenkai or glorious ice for example. Get this pad if you have steady hands and need a really fast pad)
Note: to reiterate this is based off my personal experience and opinion. Most of what I wrote is similar to a small UA-camr named NotSoCommonSense if you need a more visual representation of comparison of mousepads and has a mousepad master sheet that closely represents my thoughts on the pads.
360edpi, damn that's low. Did you ever break your shoulder when turning 180?
@@zilliq it's part of the reason. why for a time, I used no mouse pad and sanded down my desk and used that lol
@@idkwhatname3133 i have ice and i love it, low sens dream
Here I am, watching this and been using the same SS qck mini mousepad for 6 years in a row. I think it's time to upgrade.
The problem is, im not paying $200 for a Mousepad, i really dont care how good it might be. Its a piece of fabric. I agree with paying a lot for good tech like mouses/keyboards, but not a mousepad. Not happening.
Totally agree
I tried it and while it makes tracking pretty effortless, twitch-aiming will require completely recalibrating your muscle-memory to stop overshooting everything.
can you please send me a link for those glides, thank you
I have that exact setup and unfortunately, that glide doesn't last forever, especially if you don't wash it frequently (yes, with soap and water).
@@Yuzuki1337 holy shi7 12 years
@@alwandhiyaharits3971 Right? I mean it totally looks like a 12-year-old mousepad but it's also still very usable :)
Thank you. The more you give, The more you receive. Really simple.
X-RAYPAD's are insane, atleast in terms of FPS and control.
X-RAYPAD Aqua Control+ is a 100% for me for indefinite time
i am waiting for shipment the Equate model, i hope can see that improvement .
i love it too. the design on the orange aqua control+ is pretty too.
I've recived the Equate model 2 days ago, and the quality level is insane, smooth like butter and really fast tracking when you want. I will buy the Aqua Control+ for sure, just for test and compare both.
holy shit you made this video at the perfect time, i just started thinking about upgrading and looking into good mousepads
"And I think mousepads recently have been on this sort of trend of things to consider upgrading if you're into FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS LIKE MYSELF and you've run out of things to upgrade-"
Bro.
Me too, I prefer the Hien compared to my OtsuV2
I'm actually looking for a new mousepad atm thanks for the video really helps
Hi, did you use Logitech g640?
@@ahmetahskal8482 now i do use the Logitech G840 XL + deathadder v2 , it is a pretty good mix for me

Yo idk y but this dude is the first person to ever make me watch a peripheral video all the way through and I stood interested the whole time
Cool and well described reviews! I used the Hyperx Fury S Control and it's still awesome. Those Apex clips were fire bro my god
Shit pad unless you buy new one each month. That's what s1mple does.
