  • BinBok's Transparent Joy-Con for Nintendo Switch surprised me with their comfort and overall quality, but are they actually better than Hori's Split Pad Pro?

    Excellent review! Those clear controllers look great 👀. Might need to switch over from my Split pad pro controllers. Thanks again!

    I'm getting a set on March 7th for my birthday (alongside Nexomon Extinction) since my Joycons are messing up again (a shame since Nintendo "fixed" them and I have 2 really nice grips which protect my Switch and increase comfort tenfold) and am super excited! The wait is killing me, I much prefer playing in Handheld even though I love my Pro Controller and Monitor. Handheld gaming is more relaxing for me, and I just feel more "at home".
    Also I see you were playing SMT V, 3, and MHG! Great games!

    Nice review, ive been wanting to buy this to play project diva on docked mode, so its really helpful you mentioning the dpad being unresponsive when on wireless mode. kinda saved my wallet here.
    Also i clicked on the video cuz see nocturne & smt5 on the thumbnail and now glad i did 🤣

    Hi! Thanks for the review!
    Were you able to test the joystick deadzone?
    In my experience its pretty large, so mostly use the for 2D games.
    FPS games are pretty hard to play on these.

    Bought a used switch that can’t dock, and also had drift on the left joycon, so I’ve been on the hunt for a good alternative, the split pad pro is what brought me here, but I might stay for a while!

      Why not just get a brand new one instead? I’m asking before you got the switch

    How do you feel about these versus the funlab joycons you reviewed awhile ago? I have wrist and arm issues but prefer to play handheld, so I'm in the market for something with rumble and gyro that have a bit more grip to them for comfort. Interested to hear what you think!

    I think the gap on the split pad was there for easier docking. But that’s my opinion. Great video!

    These look pretty comfy and only official downside is no NFC which I’ve never used outside of home.

    It's a shame the official joycons drift and aren't built all too well since with a good grip they are super nice

    I have the black Binboks. Love em. My only complaint. The slide out of the Switch without pushing the release button. I do have the transparents on order. Can't wait. I do wish they had NFC built in so i can ditch my last pair of Nintendo Joycons.

      Why would you buy more if the first set broke?

  • @SeanIanJacobson01
    @SeanIanJacobson01 2 роки тому +2

    I don’t get why people would complain about the build quality. I have the black Binbok and they feel just as good as the Split Pad Pro. Both feel incredibly light. I even prefer the button feel of the buttons on the Binbok. I bought both the Binbok and Split Pad Pro at the same time to see which I liked better and the ONLY thing I can say the Split Pad did better is that it lets you set the turbo to the back paddles. If you do that on the Binbok it will apply trigger to the button it’s mapped to as well.
    Great review!

      I totally agree with you about the comfort of the Split Pad Pro, too. I tried those first because I expected them to be the obvious option to compare against and they actually hurt my hands more than the Joy Con themselves. Of course it gave me more grip but it also dug into my hands uncomfortably.

    Does the software read them as as a pair of joycons or Pro Controller when they're unattached so you can remove some using the Nintendo software or is that just a pipe dream just curious have a great day everybody

  • @GrimeyGrim

    Everyone who has reviewed this but one has said the cable is for charging, when it's actually meant for updating software. Does it say in the manual charging and that's why everyone says it, or is it just an assumption? If it was for charging they would have to send 2 or it just doesn't make sense.

    Have mine since for 3 months. After the first month the trouble started. Pressing right side of the Dpad there some additional resistance and it clicks twice. The other directions don't have that issue. Switch was reporting wrong battery level of the right controller - always half full. Left controller forgets LED setting when turned off. Both randomly forget Rumble settings when turned off. Also rumble was way too strong even in the lowest setting so I ended up turning it off. Gyro worked fine tough.
    I got a firmware update from Binbok that was supposed the rumble issue. I hoped it would fix other stuff too. It actually fixed the rumble. But it rendered the controller useless. The LED has only weird color schemes. I can't select basic colors like red, blue or green anymore and I ca not turn them off anymore. So I'm stuck with bright-blue-purple. But it gets worse. The plus and minus buttons don't work anymore so 95% of the games cannot be played anymore. I tried to reset both controller. No success. I tried to contact the Binbok support but never got any reply.
    Long story short. They don't live up to the hype. Binbok has some serious quality issues and the support is non-existent. That really disappointing onsidering that those are among the most expensive 3rd party joy cons.
    I will replace it with Mobapad M6 - costs only a few bucks more but the quality of the M6 is several leagues above the binbok.

    • @DerSystematiker
      @DerSystematiker 2 роки тому

      Update: After a while I contacted the support again and got a prompt reply. They gave me another firmware. After downgrading the FW. The controller is at least back to what it was at the beginning. Currently I use the M6, it's better. But when I need the option to play wireless - on travel when I connect the switch with Hotel TV with a small 3rd Party adapter, it nice to just take the Joycon off and connect them with the small plastic piece to a full controller.

      Haha how did you know it was my first try? It’s a little uneven right to left but I’m ok with it. I always install my glass screen protectors in the bathroom with the shower on pretty hot. The steam seems to help pull dust out of the air. Thanks for watching!

    I have no interest in these since I'm happy with the split pad pro. But these are pretty nice looking. Transparent controllers are always cool to see. When it comes to rumble, I'll just use the pro controller lol. Split pad for me is pretty comfy but that's obviously different for each person. Also speaking of grips, the pro controller has pretty thin grips similar to tge split pad.

    How's the joystick deadzone ? You said it was a bit unresponsive in wireless but didn't even try it wireless.

    • @NeiltendoPower

      Just because I didn’t show using these wirelessly in the video doesn’t mean I never tried it? I used these for a full week before recording the vid. The dead zone on these is fine, better than some other third party controllers I’ve reviewed. My biggest complaint with these is the button resistance is a little too high for my liking and the rumble is a little wonky
