- Hey guys what's up, Spectr here! And I just wanted to share my thoughts about a third-party Nintendo Switch controller I picked up recently. The links below are not affiliate links, I got these with my own money, and I just think you might like em'! These wireless controllers feature motion control, adjustable RGB lighting, adjustable rumble, a turbo button and more. Definitely pick these up if you're planning on having any extended Monster Hunter Rise sessions.

His voice is smooth, makes the video relaxing and 10× better
THANK YOU! I ordered these on Amazon and immediately went to UA-cam to search for a review, this video was perfect thanks 🙏🏽
I’m going on a 17 hour road trip across country and need new “working” joy cons!
Dude as a LBG user I appreciate this review. I am glad to see the turbo is still here. Also it’s good that they fixed the D Pad.
Thanks heaps for this video. There are heaps of reviews of the larger ones but I got rid of my Split Pad Pro because frankly it made my switch enormous! I've recently ordered some of these from Amazon and I'm awaiting them to arrive. So glad to hear they are great! I was nervous about the d-pad quality in particular. Really excited to get mine now - so ready to put my drifty OG Joycons to the side for a while.
Hey Nick did you get them yet? How are they?
@@DJBlackRabbit Yep got them - tbh I'm a little disappointed. The d-pad was great at the start but then started to need a harder press for left input so has made it a no go for twitchy games like Hollow Knight. The sticks feel pretty great.... but there is an enormous dead zone on the outside edge of them. They need recalibrating every time I wake them up from sleep (not a huge deal, just a couple of big circles) but even then the dead zone is still there. That means in FPS games like Borderlands & Bioshock (which I'm playing at the mo) I feel like I'm really inaccurate. Regular joycons are actually easier. Sucks but I'm going to sell them on. Really really wanted to like them but there are just too many caveats. It could be poor quality control and I just got a bad pair? I kind of hope so.
Besides the size what is the difference between the bigger versions of these controllers vs the small one?
non related to this vid but i ran into an issue with the phenderix magic world mod i got the elf vendors with grey face in white run and ontop of that the spells ARE in farangars office but the portal to the Manantis area is not anywhere to be seen i tried moving the load order around but no dice any ideas?
cool!! I will buy this one because I'm so tired of constantly replacing my joycon's joystick
Are the thumbsticks good for fps and fighting games? I read that the bigger size thumbstick like on the hori split pad (and binbok version 1) is better for those sort of games - what do you think? (I find the original joycons bad for these type of games)
Got to say man... These things rule.
I've been using them on and off switching between them and the Joycons with some kontrol freeks and a satisfye grip and there really isn't a lot of contest. I personally would like if the thumbstick pads were a bit wider but that's the worst I can say about them. The design is sleek, the buttons have great feedback and gryro for MH:R is on point.
Thanks for the recommendation bro.
Is there a case I can buy that would fit them while attached to the switch??
Can you remap buttons (like switching A and B) like it's possible with original Pro pad and joycons ?
Dude I love these, been using them for dozens of hours in monster hunter and Zelda.
The LGB looks so nice with all the possible color combinations and breathing modes, every button and stick on these things feels great, and the grip is superb. I actually got the chunkier ones when I first ordered, but then one stopped clicking into the console properly, and Binbok sent me a new pair no charge! These new ones are slimmer, with the programmable buttons removed. But honestly that feature had no value to me, so it's all well and good. My ONLY complaint is that any third party joy cons cannot turn on the console when not docked to it, so using them wirelessly means I have to dock them, press a button on each to turn them on, and undock them to start playing.
But seriously, they have 99% functionality of normal joy cons, are more comfortable, look cool as hell, and are $50 instead of $80. No brainer to me
Sold!
I feel kinda like a chump buying a second set (wasn’t a big fan of the larger models) but I’m a gear junkie and still in search of the perfect handheld setup.
I think this is a way better solution than the larger models, personally I was deciding between this and the hori splitpad, and I am super happy I went with these
@@SpectrGamingg The lager model's remappable back grip button is just perfect for bow dance where you can aim and hitting A instead of taking your thumb off the stick to press it.
I had ordered these and they had arrived today. I got tired of playing Monster Hunter Rise in handheld and feeling like I could drop my Switch trying to reach those right shoulder buttons while attempting to grip the joy cons. These feel comfortable as my finger cradle around the grips. They aren't bad for $50.
Didn't knew they made a new model of these. Gonna check them out because I'm getting very livid with my joycons drifting nonstop
I definitely recommend them, they're cheaper than joy con too
@@SpectrGamingg I know right, and I'd rather buy this than the Switch Pro controller.
"More like Joy-Gone" I can't 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Can this controller use original joy-con strap?
Do these work with the wrist strap attachments? Also how is the motion control/gyro? Planning on getting a pair for Skyward Sword HD.
Yes they do work with the straps and gyro controls have no latency! I've had these for 6 months or longer and they still work well, I recommend :)
How do you change the rumble instensity? Thats news to me, just got thses joycon and they are awesome
detail review and u show me how to use Turbo Button. thank u mate
My pleasure!
GET THIS AND DROP THE JOYCONS.
Even the middle piece feels amazing. It feels better when you put the joycons in. More compact 😎
Nintendo: “Nooo, our money maker! Our precious money maker!”
I've got the chunkier Binboks, they're the revised ones so I think they've implemented the fixes that are in the more compact ones. I absolutely love them! I like to play Splatoon and I find the sticks much better for camera movement in handheld (I don't like using motion in this mode). I'm wondering whether the smaller ones have the same sticks?
The big ones still work good for you or have they broke down?
@@jojodudeman4291 they still work, however I've barely played on my Switch in months since I got PS5 so I haven't used the Binboks a lot yet. But every time I use them they seem fine. Have you got some, and have you had issues with them?
Hi, I noticed that it has usb ports below and would like to ask how does it charge. Does this charge like a regular joy-con? Like does the controller battery charge with the Switch when it is attached?
They do charge while attached to the switch like first party joy cons, I have a pair and that's how I've been keeping them powered.
you think this option would play well with a hardcore smash player?
I just bought these but i have a question, Have you noticed a difference between the left and right joycon rumble ?
For the unit i received the left joycon rumble was buzzing weirdly like a cheap smartphone rumble motor, compared to the right joycon rumble who felt like a traditionnal controller rumble.
Just wanted to confirm if it was intentional or a defect on my unit
What i did is put the vibration all the way down, then put them to 25%. Im replying three months late but i just got these. Im sure you figured it out by now 😂
Lot's of people have reported this, it's a quality control problem. the left joycon's motor is not properly secured for some people resulting in the loud noise. contact support and ask them to send you a new one
anybody know if these work with ring fit as well?
Is it comfortable to use the right stick to change the camera? Or does your thumb cramp up
Nope! Its much more comfortable than on the regular joy con
Do y’all think this option would be good for pokemon unite?
Do these fit comfortably in the hand? Trying to decide between these and the larger ones. Something akin to holding a normal controller that fills out your hand and won't cause cramping basically.
I haven't experienced any hand cramping with these! The larger ones can be a good option but the d pad might be different, and the back of the switch won't be flush with the controllers.
@@SpectrGamingg Appreciate the quick response!
will this work for oled?
I bought the bigger version and they’re amazing, but my left controller has this bad buzzing rumble noise whenever it rumbles. Anyone might know how to deal with this?
That sounds like an internal issue with the vibration motor 🤔
Return it
Does it have drift...
that is not binbok its momen controller right?
I have the larger controller (the one with buttons on the back) and I have to say that the buttons are more like the pro controller with the way the membrains feel and the d-pad is mushy but it works just fine unlike the pro controller. I didn't expect the d-pad to be that good because of how it remined me of a bad controller.
The buttons on here clearly sound like they are clicky like a gba sp or a 3ds even an Xbox 1 d-pad vs the "normal" buttons on the larger pad.
Does this have the QC issues and crappy D-Pad like the standard one? that was what the issue with the original vs the Hori split pad ot had more features but the Hori felt better because it has to pass Nintendo's QC. ie better feeling plastic buttons random stuff to some but can be a deal breaker to others.
I comment on this in the vid, but yes it's better than the standard
Do they still work ?
Did someone have problems with this joystick?
Hi, can I ask how this controller has been holding up? - (drift, disconnection issues, battery)
It's still my go to set of controllers! No issues yet!
@@SpectrGamingg Thanks, just ordered a pair.
i just gave one question, does this work for the switch lite? and is it actually worth purchasing? i might save up to actually buy it since there are some games i’d like to try with joy-cons.
For connection, Maybe but to replace the "joy cons" for the switch lite enterally is impossible since the switch lite has built in joy cons if it has drift.
The Buttons looks to small for my fingers. :( damn
Yo unrelated to this video, could you do a one handed block build for skyrim PS4 would be awesome
What about those dead zones for accurate aiming? No one talks about the dead zones. I had a pair of binboks but they weren't the new versions you have. They were terrible so I've stuck with the split pad pro and haven't gone back. They're pretty good despite missing a lot of features.
Any thoughts on how these compare with the previous model in terms of grip and button placement? I like the sleekness of the new revision, as well as the improved D-Pad, but imitating the official joycon button positions seems like a step backward to me.
Super vidéo :D +1 gros like pour toi!!
Merci!
Does this and the other model power the switch on and does it drain the battery faster 🤔
Oh and is it a full joystick or is it like the original joy con 🤔
1. It does not wake the switch. IIRC none of the 3rd party controllers wake up the switch.
2.The controllers can be charged separately or by the switch itself.
3.If you mean full 360 degree rotation on the sticks, yes.
Does it drift?
I haven't had drift yet!
can i know this can play mario party?
Just got these and OMG the sticks circumference is tiny but my worries are gone it actually improves the grip under my thumbs. Had the hori split pad pro before now my switch feels significantly smaller. The sticks are proper analogue sticks though the stick itself is shorter and is smaller than the sticks on the hori split pad pro and the original binbok joycons but they feel tighter and good and seem responsive
face buttons have a nice soft press which i prefer personally. Only the dpad feels abit firm but responsive nonetheless no need for hard pressing to get an input in. Luckily for me im not deep into games that are better played with the dpad. The shoulder buttons and sticks are clicky but not in an annoying way. Will play some grid autosport and some borderlands to see how good the sticks are. I used to suck at these games with the joycons but with the hori split pad pro I became 100x better and I actually enjoy them now i hope these binboks will give the same experience
And yes these are way more ergonomic and comfortable in my hands. For reference my hand is 20cm from my wrist to the tip of my middle finger and 12cm from my wrist to the tip of my thumb
How's the deadzone working out for ya in borderlands? Thanks
@@sonicandroxas on my unit the deadzone is small enough to be negligible really have to look for it and so far save for the short travel distance of the sticks im just recalibrating my muscle memory since the hori sticks are taller and the hole the hori stick sits in is wider so i was used to a longer travel however the responsiveness of the binbok for me is still on par for me with the hori split pad pro sticks. They still have good sensitivity and are not twitchy like the joycons. And they make the switch have significantly smaller footprint
They do feel abit too plasticy and cheap though and the vibration is not refined so i switched it off. Nonetheless for what i bought them for that is the ergonomics and the analogue sticks they do the job
@@SomeJohndoe I see, thanks for the insight, about to test mine coming tomorrow and see if I can mind the plasticity feel
@@sonicandroxas no problem hope you enjoy am enjoying mine the hori will be in the drawer permanently
How durable are they? No issues after 3 years?
@@franciscoalejandro7567 They're still in use!
Nice Doomguy statue!
I really enjoyed this video. It actually influenced me to buy one, and honestly, I'm disappointed. This controller is FINE. But the dpad on this is awful. I hear it's an upgrade from their last model, but the last one but have been abysmal because this is stiff and terrible for fighting games. 1 out of 6 times you'll be able to pull off a hadoken, it's fine with the joysticks however. The joysticks are good but the overall there's a cheapish quality to this device, like it should be priced at 35, not 50. I appreciate the look, the way it feels in your hands, and the rgb is cool, but overall, this is a mediocre 3rd party controller that had potential. This is not an attack on you or your content, Just something to keep in mind for fighting game fans.
You kept it real and save folks like me a lot of money who was on the fence. The biggest problem with most 3rd party joycons is the dpad. I dont know why for the hell of me thry can't make a good dpad? I don't know if it's a license issue or what. Everything else is there though except for nfc. Hori definitely makes good joycons and dpad. The hori Zelda joycon is awesome only thing is they aren't wireless.
Amiibo connectivity? 🤔
Hey there nice review. I have a few questions that I hope you could answer for me :
1. Is it possible to use each joypad separately for multiplayer games ?
2. Does pressing the home button wake up the switch in both detached and wireless mode ?
3. Do they come with SL/SR buttons ?
I'm not him but I do own them as well.
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
To bad the right stick is still under the buttons making it uncomfortable to use.
I find em pretty comfortable
I trust you bro.
Really just trying to show people some cool tech 😎
I can't decide rather to buy this model or the bigger one
There's a bigger one? You mean Hori Split Pad pro? I wouldn't buy that if I were you, I'd rather get the BinBok controllers.
@@pifre3051 there's a bigger model of the binbok joycons
I do like them a lot. If only these had Amiibo support, they would've been THE BEST Joy Cons ever!
Same exact thing i'd said too! definitely a bit of a missed opportunity but hopefully with a next newer controller update they can add support for it someday.
For those who only play shooters, this is probably more than enough and even better than the original ones. But this thing is not suitable for those who connect joycons to various steering wheel and Fit Ring or are fans of Amiibo figures or use NFC. And if you want pure mobile gaming, then you will have to buy a special case.
On Nintendo turn of joy con druff
These are way better then the Hori but the d-pad sucks.
There is nothing good about the D-Pad.
which model do you have? and I wouldnt describe as particularly great, just good enough.
Wow
yesss curse nintendo, buy all the 3rd party controllers 😻
The whole gaming industry who only makes the systems too, wait until you learn the truth.🖕
