Because the back buttons on the hori split pad don't let you map what you want, I went with the binbok. Also the binbok being wireless really helps as well and I really like how the grips look THICC instead of just wide like the hori.

Great video. It seems the Hori is slightly bigger. From ur experience, is the Hori a lot more comfortable because it’s a bit bigger that the Binbok? I really want something that feels as close to a pro controller as possible but in Joycon form. My right thumb gets cramped from not being able to stretch it out when using the analog stick. Is your right thumb more comfortable on the Binbok or Hori?

You said that the led lights on the RGB controllers stay on while having the switch in the dock at night when charging the switch. I dont use my switch that often and I don't want to have the led lights running constantly, is there a way to turn the RGB controllers off when not in use? Second question, do the RGB controllers come with a piece in the middle when having the switch in the dock hooked up to the TV? Because with the HORI controllers i know that you have to by a set to play in non portable mode. Thanks.

I was gonna switch from hori to binbok cuz of the gyroscope, but if they seem that flimsy, I’d rather stick to the licensed and tried and true HORIs. I hardly use gyroscope, and even if I’m forced into using motion controls, like with some Zelda BOTW puzzles, I’d just pop out my joy cons or pro controller for that moment. Thanks for the review.

Im on the fence about the binbok. The analogs look like the same ones that are on the powerA wireless controller, that have small thumb suface area and are hard plastic instead of rubber which makes it slippery.

For me, the Hori was the way to go. I already had a 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ for docked gameplay so I didn't really need a pro style controller. I never use motion controls unless the game requires it and I dislike rumble and usually turn it off in my games. And I never buy amiibos so all of the missing functionalities weren't issues for me, really.
Where I live, the Hori Split Pad Pro is sold in a lot of places and the "licensed by Nintendo" seal of approval makes me sigh of relief since I'll know for sure there won't be any problems along the line.
I'm not saying the Binboks wouldn't be great. I'm sure they are. But for my use case, the Hori SPP was great. My only gripe is that I really wish the controllers were even thicker and more curved like a regular controller. I still feel like my hands are cramped (just like with the joycons). And yes, I do have large hands and long fingers so it's saddening that although people commented that the Hori SPP pads are "huge", I actually disagree on that. They're nowhere near the size of Xbox controllers or the Switch Pro Controller, unfortunately.
Overall I would recommend the Hori simply because although it's not perfect, it lacks some features etc. but I find it's a readily available reliable product that fits well with especially first person games like BioShock and although it's nowhere near as great feeling as a dedicated gamepad, it's still miles better than the joycons and doesn't suffer from the drifting issues. I paid 40€ (+3€ for shipping) for mine and I think it was a bargain.

on both, you can only map the back buttons to buttons on the same side,
for example, the left side mappable button can only be set to L1/l2/l3,select, screenshot
and the dpad, while the right side joycon's mappable buttons can only be set to ABXY R1/R2/R3, start, home.

The only thing that sucks to me about the split pad pro is lack of rumble and gyroscope There's another one out that's built like the split pad pro but with gyroscope and rumble. That's called the mobapad m6. If that one is good it's going to be the best thing out for the switch as far as controllers go.

That is Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. It came out in 2018. The sequel, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, came out last year. I just bought Ys VIII and it is corny dialogue but it is a pretty great story and the combat is fun as hell. It reminds me of a final fantasy type game. I only am 20% through Ys VIII and I already can't wait to beat this and get YS IX. From what I've heard both are pretty lengthy so it should provide many hours of gameplay.

Just got a set of the Binbok and I'm very happy with them. Can't speak from experience as i dont have the Hori spit pad but to me they were a no go because of not having gyro motion control. I don't consider is a feature but more of an incomplete controller without it as so many games are requiring it to some extent. Zelda BOTW for example.
In shopping Amazon notice closely the button and stick placement.. Binbock and the Hori controller were the only ones I found that were spread out more like the official pro controller instead of vertically stacked like the Nintendo joy-cons. Look closely at your pro controllers layout and compare the layout spacing to oversized joy-cons your considering for purchase.
Happy with Binbok for now.. to me it feels much the same as my pro controller in hand and that consistancy helps me to play better in switching between controllers.
And FYI the satisfy grip feels great but still leaves you stuck with the tiny stacked controls of the switches joy-cons... then there's the drift issues. That said Binbok fits the large satisfy case quit well. Good luck to all!

@@bobdotexe with these binbox joycons do they register diagonal inputs good? because a lot of third-party joy-cons if you bring them to the calibration screen and test diagonal input it struggles it's like it wants to go directly up and down or left and right not in between.
