Having Gian chat during shots is a great addition. Not only is he crack up, but he acts like a conduit for DIY mechanic viewers like myself. Asks all the same questions I would, haha. Great work boys!
I was going to add a comment. This was at the top. I feel like it's a half hour with Benny and Gian having a mates chat in the shed while Benny pulls things apart and puts them back together. Don't ever loose this vibe.👍
Because you're going with ITB'S now you should potentially consider using either a 4JB1, YD25DDT or a RB25/26 DET clutch disk, they are the right spline size to work with GW gearbox input shaft and the disk diameter works with factory 1jz/r154 flywheel and pressure plate. Which intern, means using all OEM Toyota slave, throwout bearing and clutch fork etc etc... Then just machine 10/15mm off bell housing to make up for shaft length difference ;)
Hahahahaha "should of just paid someone to do it"....... That's precisely why transmission shops will never be out of business. That box of black magic is intimidating and easy to screw up. Big respect to the transmission guys who know all the fiddly bits and years of knowledge.
Other kind of video I enjoy watching on youtube most besides car repair/modification videos is lathe/machining videos so... double thumbs up on this one Benny
I tried to rebuild my s13 gearbox today, never did it before, and destroyed the centerhousing on the press 😢😅. Happy to see you do the same, 5 mins later😂❤.
Great to see you having a crack with the gearbox regardless of expertise in gearbox rebuilds... deffinately a specialist job but once you figure it out youll realise how easy they go together and come apart 👌
I used to install wheels and tires in the early to mid 90s. We always used the torque tube sockets on install. We had to check the torque with a torque wrench before the vehicle left but those sockets were strong and we used air guns all day.
Hey Benny, just a thought about your clutch situation You say the great Wall input shaft is Mitsubishi What about the clutch plates from Mitsubishi Evo? With they be similar to the same spline as the one you’ve got I know you’ve already mentioned it for the Toyota one and I hope all the Toyota gear comes together. This is a very good video. I’m watching you do this is amazing
I waited weeks 😢 Have one of those to install on my 2KD the only bit ratios from 1st to 2nd are wide like the diesel Toyota gearbox and th 5th and 6th are overdrive.
i pulled and refitted a nissan skyline gts-t rb20 gearbox that looks pretty simular a few months ago and i think you "olny" have to pull that bearing and gear from the lower shaft to remove the inputshaft. i dont know if you have enough room to move the complet shaft back to tilt it before you hit the synchros or the 4+5th gear, and it looks like you would have to pull the bearing on the outputshaft, which you dont have to if you go from the other way. hope i could help :)
You need to get uni clutch on board. Get a nite parts r150 to jz Bell housing, its shorter and runs the jza80 w58 clutch. Which, uni clutch make a twin plate which is like a factory clutch to drive. Also has heaps of clamp. Andrew from motive has videos on these. It's how I've done mine in my jz swapped mx83.
Did I miss an episode I didn't see when you all changed the high gear shaft. I know you didn't get through in this episode n the next one I an seeing is the clutch release bearing install
Not many mechanics actually pull gearboxes apart these days. I know that I had to tear down and rebuild an old Ford 4 speed "toploader" gearbox when I went to TAFE ~25 years ago, but if I had become a car mechanic instead of a truck mechanic there's a pretty good chance that would have been the only gearbox I ever stripped down in my entire career. Obviously what with being a truck mechanic I did pull down a few dozen different transmissions over the years but it's always a bit intimidating, especially when it's one you've never done before and you do NOT have the shop manual for.
Loving the videos but i will say that from abour 11:00 through to 20:00 is mostly waffle, saying the same things in different ways. I think if you try to keep things more concise you may attract more viewers

Agreed! His commentary lately over the last few episodes have been making them just that much better.
Very much in agreement, the back and forth makes the videos much more lively.
I was going to add a comment. This was at the top.

This was enjoyable Benny. You have mad skills.
You're just saying that because of all the mad shaft handling!
Pulling something apart is a thing but putting it back with no parts left over is skill
"Aaah, put it in too far, it was valentines day yesterday..." Hahaha, was not epxecting to splurge tea through the nose so early on.
All the random convo while working is such a good vibe
Prime opportunity to use that input shaft to line up the clutch before you install it in the gearbox!
The xtreme clutches come with a steel alignment tool :)
It’s good when the length is correct on Valentine’s Day.

I rebuilt a few back in the day when i worked for greatwall.. was getting anxiety watching it 🤣🤣. Hate doing boxes
Yes Def's a scooter episode. My mate had one when we were teenagers it was a heap of fun.
Hahahahaha "should of just paid someone to do it".......

Thanks for showing this side of the project build, very relatable! :)
Drink whenever Benny says 'great wall'.

Definitely need a go-ped video!
very curious how much power this box will hold now, thinking of swapping out my r151 for this r160 lol
Appreciate this episode, very relatable. I feel like the next one will be your victory of it. keep up the great work.

I have all the bits I need on hand, but thanks.
@BennysCustomWorks fair. You've just gone about it the most difficult and involved way ever. No idea why people change the input shaft
@@justkidshavinfun764 I guess then you don’t have to machine the bellhousing down, don’t have to find a flywheel and can use a concentric slave
Can you pop the lay shaft bearing off the front and take the input off that way?
Nice to see benny finaly went disrespected nose
The brakes on that scooter are absolutely terrifying. 😂😂
🎶
And this is how i got smacked in the face
With a piece of gearbox case
😂😂😂

There’s an episode where we re assemble the box then play with gopeds.
Noticed you used Prop Shaft Services :-)
Yeah I normally use Daniel’s in Unanderra but I was in and out of Sydney / Bankstown area for a week or so so had them do this one
Pick mine up from them tomorrow so hopefully all good. @BennysCustomWorks
Guesta....mate ...
I have a 2J and AR5, without a custom clutch.
I know this sounds stupid but i would like to fit one to my intech, is there anywhere that does either barra or intech (or sohc) to r box?
Possibly Dellows?
Love watching the vids. Small thing ... move the mic so we do not bet Benny's beard crackling over it. Sorry. HAHAHAHA
Can't use the shop press?
what trans is it
But it was valentines day yesterday....pmsl Benny.
I own a snap-on flat circlip plier if you are still keen mate? If you want to borrow them?
Thanks I got some flag tip snap ring pliers anyway
Have a go !!!
You're a mechanic???
I am. Also one with no puller/ press and zero knowledge of transmissions.

I think he was talking about torque sticks…
Go-Ped scooter?
Great Wall ologist
