Benny can you and Al hound the MCM boys into building D&D car or at least hitting an event in one of the fleet they own. Honest mate I think just the banter alone would make for so much fun for you all, and a epic road trip would make some awesome memories/viewing!
Was just thinking that MCM need to be pushed to build there own drift car, the videos of just cruising and drag event videos from all of them would be a vibe
Hey Benny. I recently bought one of those folding welding benches you have there and found you can also use them to climb to locations like some sort of ladder.
I'm getting pretty amped to see this build mate it will be very unique and sound 👌. And I'm sure you have been asked this before, but for such a comprehensive build some 30 min vids would be mint! Good luck Ben love the channel 👍
nice job benny i have just endured making engine mounts for my e90 turbo barra build nothing takes 5 minutes not even the head scratching😁cheers from broken hill
Bunnings, works a treat. It’s a French brand, i think it’s pronounced ‘ladder’ but you have to make sure you get the correct one, some are flat require other legs to hold them up.
Speedflow do a pressure rated P/S hose and fittings in -6, silver solder AN fittings to stock hard lines and done. Had zero issues in my 3UZ swapped Prado.
Hey Benny, you might have heard this already, but I’ve heard many complaints on the internet of oil starvation with the front sump during hard acceleration with high horsepower applications. Obviously if it’s an issue a dry sump would fix it. It would be great if you did an episode on the machine shop doing the engine build, especially focusing on the GE to GTE conversion of the block and the drilling of the oil gallery, there isn’t much info on the internet about this. A head building episode would be great too, again there isn’t much info on the internet on how the port, polish, and CC of the chambers is done on the 2JZ.
Hey man, electric aircon and a lithium battery could be a good alternative for you. I think they only draw about 50 amps which would be manageable. Plus lighter battery as well
@@BennysCustomWorks shame it can't be relocated to the boot, with fans, ducts and vents. It would probably start to condense in the pipes running to the rear. The more I think about it, the more ballache it appears lol.
Times like this makes me think if an engineer designed a stand alone temporary removable air-conditioning system for street race cars that could use the accessory slot they would make a killing 🤔
Are you going to lower the car at all? (I don't listen good). I thought the exact same thing you did, like it's meant to be there. Also, like a bought one, or, like a glove.
@@BennysCustomWorks oh ok fair enough I’m going to fit a remote condenser under the tray of my Ute it’s about 400mm x 400 mm x150mm thick including fan my sparky mate reckons they work really well he’s fitted a heap of them, I don’t have the room for a condenser up front either.
I love your piss take of Facebook market place and people selling '95% complete' projects. Unfortunately there are too many inexperienced folk thinking it's a bargain and paying way more than the projects worth in it's current state.
The Hoff never compromises on A/C! 😂
Man that engine mount kit makes it so easy

I'd actually like to see the two of them team up with one of the mcm boys and do some kind of build off.
Was just thinking that MCM need to be pushed to build there own drift car, the videos of just cruising and drag event videos from all of them would be a vibe
Epic you and the skid factory are parallel building drag and drive 2jz powered cars will be so good to see you both line up against each other
Seeing you MIG makes me wanna get back to MIG'ing. Damn. A drag car with air-con?? That's just... (wait for it) too cool
It’s going to be a good summer for me (winter for you) watching as you build this thing.
Awesome Benny........................ Billy J....
Hey Benny. I recently bought one of those folding welding benches you have there and found you can also use them to climb to locations like some sort of ladder.
Can’t be. Is it rated for climbing?
If you’re a svelte 120kg or under apparently so 🤣
Go with the manual rack, and swap in the electric column later if needed

30 minute videos often don't retain viewers like two 15 minute ones, so it just makes sense
SEMA ready
Two-two-two jay, junior!
The sump slots in, the mounts line up well, the gearbox crossmember has multiple holes to choose from. Too easy! 😮
Love to see a race with Kevin when finished 👌🏻
Great project, hope you take the electrical on yourself but have a special guest appearance from Dave.
This direction seems to be the way to go these days. I like it. Thanks Benny.
Would love to see this battle Kevin.

tu tuu tuuu 2 jay - haha superb vid as always Benny!
The beats during this episode! 👌🔥🎶
Took in a screengrab of that welding bench to Hafco and they asked me to leave. Where'd you get yours?

speedflow make high pressure psteer hose couplings that means you can make a diy high pressure hose without a crimp tool

Boys at The Skid Factory have already spoken about starvation issues in a 2J and they modified the oil pan with a baffle to prevent it from happening.
This will be awesome!
Cool car Benjamin, got me thinking about selling my Jetta and getting a wagon.
Anymore videos on the viper planned?
Yes, sooner or later.
@Benny's Custom Works awesome look forwards to it 🤙
I know that you would know that those valve covers are an indicator that that 2j is the na version. So hope you know for sure that the block is a gte.
It’s GE. Won’t matter for what we’re doing. This is just a mock up atm. Then it’ll be built with forged internals
what is that song after 7:30, how good
Have you ever considered an electric assist steering column?
Yes, from prius/ corolla / yaris/ BRZ. It’s a maybe for sure
I think the saying goes grinder and paint because a welder I aint !!!
Does the Nexus have the ability to control electric air con?
Most likely.

Still needs a condenser
@@BennysCustomWorks True, you would have abit more flexibility on placement though.

For power steering why not use the electric unit for the Corolla, etc.?
That’ll be the option I pursue if we do go to power steering, the Cresta is fine without it.
12V aircon? Mount the condenser somwhere else, keep the cabin equipment. Nugget did a simple system in the KE Van
I don’t have a somewhere else option atm
"Bench" 😂
Astra/Volvo/something else electric power steering pump mounted in the bay or boot?
Still fluid.
what model corolla did the rack for the cresta come out of? im interested in doing a conversion for my project
I don’t know the exact model but it was around 2015 or so from memory
@@BennysCustomWorks nice man, i appreciate the reply, i'll have a look around it should be enough info
Noice!!! As Nat says F*ck jar hybrid systems 🤣👍🍻

The music is fire in this episode. Can anyone link it? Or tell me the name of the songs and artists please?
Russ Abbott: Atmosphere 🤙🏻

Yeah we’ll be running shockworks coilovers
@@BennysCustomWorks Nice, looking forward to seeing this one go.
Why not just use ke conversions jz into cressida mounts?
Because I didn’t know if they’d work 100%. They’re also pretty simple to make.
There's always electric AC like the Hoff has put in his new panel van...
And good demisting…
Still need to put the condenser somewhere
@@BennysCustomWorks ah, that old chestnut...
Go for a 12volt a/c compressor if your keen to keep the a/c mate and you don’t have the real estate up front.
Still need to mount a condenser. The compressor isn’t the clearance issue

Maybe one day you'll feel the fesh crisp air, coming from the dash after a hard day's drag racing... One Day.🥲🥲
