I didn't know that the Skin Granny could steal a characters face, so thanks for that 😹. What makes the Harvestmen worse in my opinion is the almost childlike behaviour they exhibit. It's like they don't understand what they're doing is horrible.
It's possible the Red Man consented to the endless torment. Ronn Chambara was well known as a poet and philosopher, who would spread his words through his tormented visage as well as give that torment upon people who wished it. He viewed torment as a gift. Perhaps the Red Man was a person he was particularly fond of, or one who demonstrated particular enthusiasm towards his ways.
That wouldn't explain why he had to be chained to the wall though. That implies he was being held against his will to some extent. Or maybe he was a follower at some point, but then realized he got way more than he bargained for.
I really like the lore and setting of Fear and Hunger, but I don't like its genre and don't have the time to experience the games in general, so your channel is pretty much perfect for me.
I don't like this type of game either. I call it "the trial and error" game cause there are so many secret that you just have to experience it first hand to know it and if you fucked up, you can just go back to a save and re live the experience with the knowledge from past experience which for me, is just dumb as hell. For example, the yellow mage exploding your limbs if you don't quickly approach them and open combat, like how do you supposed to know that? Now you lost a hand, a leg, and the whole run. I mean, many other game is the same but not to this degree, you can still keep going and goes along with that decision if you fucked up and it won't ruin the game.
This game can realistically take between 2-10 hours to achieve one of its many endings, based on how quickly you learn how to play it and how you go about doing so. If you don’t have time for a game this brief, then I’m assuming you don’t play video games at all.
Havestman is called that because of the spider you mentioned. Daddy Long Legs is only called that in some parts of the world (like here in the US its only in rural parts like the Midwest) Harvest Spider is actually the common name for this species.
Pretty sure both the harvestman and Uterus are based off of Nirvana cover art. The harvestman looks like the artwork from Cobains album Montage of Heck: Home Recordings mixed with the album art for Incesticide. The Uterus is even more obvious from Nirvanas album In Utero. I say its obvious given the albums title but the sprite used in game shares the exact same pose as the manequin in the album artwork.

You can practically feel those centuries of torture in that thing's voice. The wordless begging for the peace of death that it had been denied for so, so long. And that's it right there: Killing it would be an act of mercy, straight up.
My favorite thing about Fear and Hunger is that it's not afraid to exaggerate. There's a book about Tortrur that talks about him torturing a child, and there's a quote in that book that literally flashbanged my brain "He was sh*tting more than he was bleeding" and i stopepd for like 10 minutes because my brain pictured the scene in HD quality and made me feel sick. I love this game, because it's not afraid to do what most media is afraid to do. Even with the body horror, especially with intimate body parts, we usually think of them as something special, something private and to keep hidden, but in fear and hunger they are twisted, horrible, repulsive, they are recognized as a part of the human body and therefore are a part of the horror. I'm working on a big project, let's call it a comic/manga, it's hard to describe what genre it is, but this game is a huge insporation for me because it made me realize that twisted and sick ideas are far more effective if you exaggerate. I always had disgusting and creepy ideas for it (body horror especially), and sometimes i even thought "maybe this is too much", but they were nothing in comparison, i'm gonna take them a step further. This is just my opinion as a "creator" of some sorts with weird ideas for his works, + sorry for bad english

Basically the title is referring to someone in the story being tormented, but all of the main characters are tormented in a way or another with what they are going through, so it's basically up to the reader to figure out or make up their own idea of who the tormented one actually is
The reason it seems like everyone is 'afraid' to do stuff like this is because it normally doesn't get popular. It's survivorship bias. There are plenty of people doing this kind of thing out there if you look hard enough. But the vast majority of people who get popular are the people who avoid it, in not too small a part because they avoid it.
The most disturbing enemies in series to me are probably the "Fecal Hounds." They're so creepy, gross and disease ridden I wouldn't want to get close enough to fight one.
The fecal dogs and the cherubs are pretty close to me. Both looks creepy and it's sad to think about that what they were before transforming: the cherubs being orphaned children and the fecal dogs being...well, dogs (I assume); both innocent creatures that were twisted into those abominations.
Since it seems not many people know this, I figure I'd mention that the version of the Night Lurch in the mines can use it's counflip ability out of combat, caught me completely off guard in one of my early D'Arce runs and frankly it's lunge is so fast that I'm now terrified to enter the mines without both dash and a lit torch Edit : the out of combat lunge can penetrate penance armor

My theory, it looks for travelers of the dungeon to reproduce but since people of the darkest dungeon are more likely than not to be hostile, it plucks out the limbs of it's victims so they can not fight back and then subsequently leave them to bleed out, or they eat them, who knows.
Its called "Harvestman" because its based off of a real harvestman, which is an arachnid but is *not* a daddy long leg spider, and the harvestman also isn't specifically a spider. Harvestman have 7 legs and a round body like the picture shown (so picture also wasn't the long leg spider) and they collect into large clusters of the bug for protection (it looks like pubic hair its fucking awful). Would also like to give another fun fact, that daddy long leg spiders and cellar spiders are also different bugs. Cellar spiders have a rounder abdomen and daddy long legs' bodies are much smaller, and have slightly longer legs compared to body size. (A slightly off topic last fact is that craneflies and mosquitos are different insects. Felt the need to mention this one cause some people think craneflies are just big mosquitoes. No blame honestly cause they look super similar)

The impressive part of the game is how much background work probably went on. Balance wise it's not a cut gem, and it still carries many bugs and glitches. However, I can only applaud the monumental creativity that went into this, and the amount of work the creator mustve put into reading into psychology and media presentation to arrive at this end result. That's the mark of a great game creator ; technical skills can be refined. This level of care is much harder to gain.
