Might've taken a while but that "extra quarterturnitis" sure did backfire on the owner. Never thought I'd be so anxious to see oil testing videos😅 but completely understand one's gotta pay the bills before playtime😎 would be interesting to hear what oil that saw has been living on.
Man that poor saw is filthy internally...carbon waiting to do piston artwork. Has it done a lot of idling with short bursts to cut through small limbs maybe..or crap oil/crap fuel? I'm in New Zealand and that would probably be a $2500 saw over here. Richard, would really love to see a before and after with Seafoam one day, hear so much about it. Great video, thanks!
I’m also in NZ and it always amazes me how most people never keep their saws clean, even when selling them on TM they expect to get good money for a saw that looks like it been kept in a pig sty.
Are you going to do a lucas two cycle oil test ? , i used a gallon of it about ten years ago it didnt seem to scuff any pistons or cylinders, but it did seem to leave more carbon deposits than the super tech i normally use .
Damn, if we had saws like that, my guys woulda got sacked. That is saw abuse! I have always drummed into my guys preventative maintenance takes far less time than a rebuild…even my personal saws (Husky mostly) get maintained weekly.
Is there actually a torque specification for them nuts I guess it felt I could get a ratchet one of the mini ones with the built-in torques. I guess it would take to work out of it.
Been trying this maxima formula k2 this week it's got a gold color when mixed 40to 1..but seemed to run litte better than red armor wich I normally run just because I use it my echos ..but the big stihls saws was useing vp its just so expensive the 462 500i eat one of those gallons in minutes and there 30 bucks here so gotta switch to something..had 2 jugs of the maxima
I purchased a replacement fuel cap for my MS361 with the blue O-ring. They told me it is fuel mix resistant. I was going to only get an O-ring but it wasn‘t much more cost for the entire cap.
I'm not sure making them a deal on used parts. You might want to charge them double for the part and give them some advise on how to properly maintain their saw. In the long run they would be way ahead in the game.😊
@@richardflagg3084 ya I get it. It was just a tool to make money for me to for 40 years but I took care of my tools. The difference is I owned mine they must be spending someone else's money for their's.
Hey Richard, I have a question that is not relevant to this video, and I only ask because I was watching your videos on 200T’s earlier this morning. I have one for sale near me in good cosmetic condition that’s been sitting for almost 10 years, but the owner claims it’ll run but may not idle well. He is asking $600, think that may be worth it?
It's a gamble if it doesn't run like it should. That being said condition plays a big part in valuing a saw. If it's been sitting for that long, it's going to need at bare minimum a healthy service. Fuel line, carb kit, impulse line, fuel filter etc.
I figured as much. He claimed he replaced fuel line and impulse, just didn’t know if he was still asking too much. Thanks for the reply. I love your content, keep up the great work!
Cannot understand how guys run those filters it has to be getting in there...plus there expensive and needs cleaning every jalf hour ..the uni oil filters I love them..they say it affects blowback or spit back but I just can't trust those filters
I’m getting caught up on my Richard videos today 🤣Great video and explanation 👌
😂
Excellent video! Reminder, don’t be the guy that needs to tighten an extra quarter turn!
Was guilty of "extra quarterturnitis" in my younger years💪🏼😳😅
When you feel it budge, you know it needs a bit more! @@aaronpowell4885
I ain't gonna lie. It took me awhile to warm up to your channel, but now I hit the "like" button before I watch the video.
I don't blame ya. It's a low budget, no frills channel with a long winded host that looses his place while talking. 😎
Thank you for the kind words.
@@richardflagg3084 Hey Rich. Whats the part no for the new gas caps? Or for the blue silicone o-ring itself? Thanks
Cant wait to see the teardown! and the Lucas oil test. Good repair
👍Always learn something watching!
Satisfying, yet still so much to be done.
Will be curious if that piston cleans up! Good stuff sir and thanks for sharing!
Love all of the great information
Another nice save Rich. Nice informative video.
Thanks Mike!

Great Idea! I may do a follow up tomorrow. I need more run time for a good before and after.

Great and informative video as always
Thought this was great too!
Nice repair richard. The tool for the captive nuts is cheap, was 20 bucks or less for 2 new nuts and the tool when i bought mine.

The generally accepted length of thread engagement is the diameter of the fastener.

What's the story on the blue o-ring for the cap? Is that brand new, never seen one before. Latest and greatest super long-lasting item?

If you can think of it, show the end result of using the Seafoam.
What Loctite p/n did you use to install the studs, Richard?
From the viscosity and color ,Loctite 620. (38652) Maybe 640 but that is very thin.
Nailed it Sir! Loctite 620 sleeve retainer. @@islipfdchief
I clean saw's before working on them so the dirt doesn't go in everywhere.
Sprocket is definitely toast
Oh man, I was hoping that "metric shit ton of coking" meant we were gonna get a 462 dissassembly video, im gonna continue crossing my fingers
I may need to buff that nonsense out. I'll see how the seafoam treatment did first. Follow up tomorrow.

I might have been over tightened mine i try not to
Wouldn't it be easier to use an oversized bar stud
Metric shit ton? Does that Equal a butt load in imperial? Asking for a friend.
Metric rating is higher. More like having to make two trips to haul ass.
Supposed to change them every 3 chains or so or 25 thousandth s
Rochard are you a dealer or just a "worker" for a service?
I work at a dealer two days a week and the rest from my own shop.

Stihl ultra caused the problem

Might be something even worse 🤔
If not for the ash, I'd have to agree😁
Thank you for the video. Would have been nice to see work area on the machine cleaned up first. Looked like you’re working in shit.
Guy spends 1400.00 on a saw, and puts a Chinese hunk o shit bar on it.
