Yea that plate is way too thin. Rubbing from running it in the groove is ok-ish, but when the chain inevitably jumps/breaks (which WILL happen if you run your saw long enough), will smash into it and eat through it very quickly. I did this same upgrade a year ago, totally worth it.
Thanks for the part No. Mine is bent as well as damaged. Not sitting flush with the side of the saw. Dust getting in and clogging the oiler holes. Bar and chain overheating. Mess. Ordered the new side plate you suggested.
Saw dust will make your chainsaw bite the dust a whole lot quicker than it should. 💀💀💀💀💀 I make sure to clean my 500i VERY thoroughly after each and EVERY use. With the kind of money that I bought that saw for, I am making sure that its last a long time. 😊 #stihlpower
i know this is a old video. does this make the bar harder to sit on the studs? the little shoulder on the bar mounts where the bar sits is already pretty skinny on the 500s
@spencerstockwell no not at all. It's a little thicker so it doesn't wear as fast and potentially hurt the case. That's the main reason for the up grade
Guide plate works great to scrape the bar groove out.
Thanks 4 sharing the spare parts number, this was exactly what I'm looking for 😊👍
