Nice job guys. You put a lot of wood on the ground today. Tony has been holding out with his cutting/felling skill. Running a new Stihl at half throttle will teach it bad habits/let her rip. GNI
Chris, great work with Tony dropping, limbing, and blocking those trees up today. Like how Tony used the top handle saw to mark his rounds. Has to be great to go to the woods and work with Tony! Great video!
Great score on firewood. And it's fun to cut trees with a friend. I could tell tony was holding off on the throttle. I cut my wood with husqvarna 562 and 372 and my dealer told me there was no break in period for them. But I didn't hold em pegged for a couple of tanks anyways, figured it couldnt hurt. And I agree chris, that using pro saws is the way to go. I'm not in production but you can't beat the speed and power.
Looked like an absolute perfect day to be in the woods cutting! I sure wish both saw manufacturers made a dead wood oiler setting. All the way up is never enough oil for cutting dead wood especially with longer bars. It makes for alot of bar wear and chain plug ups like you had in video. The EPA or whoever cringes at the thought of 1 drop of oil hitting the ground need to help pay for the premature bar wear out...Thanks for video!👍

Hi from Frankfurt, Germany. Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your channel and the relaxing, interesting and well made content. Just bought a 550XP MArk II - my firts Husqvarna - and I am looking forward to make some firewood with it.
I don't know guys...now I'm not say'in I am biased but I am think'in that 462 at half throttle was smok'in that big Huskie out Chris! LOL! JK! Thanks gents! Thanks for the tip Tony - I didn't know you were supposed to run at half throttle for a few tanks first. Some big wood today!
GP there are many different opinions on saw break-in. Chris's Husky dealer told him just go out and run his new 592 saw. Both my IL and Wisc Stihl dealers told me to take it easy for the first few tanks of fuel. Run the saw at half throttle or vary the rpm's but limit full throttle for long periods of time. As I mentioned before, after running about 10 or so tanks the saw has improved performance. Cheers, hope you get your saw soon, I know firsthand how hard it is to be patient waiting for it.
I idled and babied my ms261 first tank the second tank opened it up and she puked and sputtered and stalled out had to go back dealer to reset mtronics on the computer. It wouldn’t even start just flooded. Now no issues running it like it is supposed too. Might have been my fault it burped and released choke now I pull until she runs on start.
youd be surprised what a bark box/egen straight shot muffler and a maxflow air filter will do to most new stihls. yes they are loud but when u consider the close to 1hp gains on top of a saw that cools better and has better throttle response its worth the extra 100-150 bucks. i also like the 461 over the 462. alittle more displacement. and i like a 24 inch bar too i only like big bars when i gotta stump a real big tree thats like 4-5 feet across. 28 isnt bad either if its a lightweight bar. great video though keep it up. i gotta get ready to go take out a goliath ash tree for the city. bringing the 088 along for this one lol. its gotta be 5 foot at the stump. luckily city trees are always right by the road so we can use a bucket truck. if it was in a backyard that would suck lol

Would love it, if you haven't already, do a calculation of the cost effectiveness of felling and bucking free trees v. buying a truck of logs. Thank you sir for your videos!
The longer the chain bar is actually less straining for the back and knees etc for the long term. The multi trailer comment from yesterday was if the landowner wanted to allow certain days to cut and then you wanted to get the most out of those days. That’s why I said multi trailers and a loading crew and chain crew.
G'day ITW, Jendobrah 😀My Missus is part Polish the frugal part I think 🤔. Tell Tony what you run in the Northern Hemisphere is a personal choice. Down under we have two choices Toyota and Stihl 👍🇦🇺.
so was wondering why you guys dont just pull the splitter there and split it on sight ??? getting older , it gets harder to lift n load them bigger rounds.
@@InTheWoodyard would it be worth bringing the tractor there and cutting a few log truck loads and having them hauled back instead of bucking it all on site? With that amount of wood you could probably cut and stack 2 or 3 loads a day and have it trucked back for a reasonable price? Not judging by any stretch but I'm at least always curious about the "method behind the madness" lol.
Hey Chris, I recently started to try and identify trees and just a suggestion maybe you could mention in your videos what type of wood your cutting. Is that White oak tony and your were cutting?
The 400 is more than 60cc, it’s actually 67. I recently bought the 400 with 20’ bar and it’s a fantastic saw. Only 5cc less than 462 but weighs less too
I make per year roughly 60 cubicmeters of woods (25% hard wood, 75% pine trees). I want to replace my MS 440, YoM 2003 with a 20" sword, soon. I really dont know, if it will be the MS 462 or the MS 500i. My STIHL dealer gave my the MS 500 for testing and I must say, this thing is a Monster. Otherwise I try to stay away from electronics when it comes to Chainsaws. So I am more smiling at the the 462. Greetings from Germany
Sure would be nice if you put your videos out in order. One episode you have a new trailer next one you have the old one. I'm all sorts of confused but in turn that dont take much. Just kidding. Love the videos no matter what the order is. 🤪👍
Love Tony’s cutting chaps, his true colors are showing. Probably has Husky underwear. Admit it Tony, you’re finally coming out of the closet. Put down the crooked cutting Stihl and pick up the Husky, you know you want to!! Tell him Chris, feel the power of the orange side!
Remember I’ve often said I’m non-denominational when it comes to tools. I love my Husky full wrap chaps and hookaroon. I would love to own a husky saw and that may happen some day🤞
@@TonysCoolTools Just busting your chops Tony, it looks like a really nice saw. You have the best toys and now all you need to do is raise monster elk to compete with Jason from NM, then Chris will love you again. Tough to compete with an elk like that, it was a beauty!!
For $9.32 I bought a pack of 12 Dixon lumber marking crayons. I use a 16" piece of pvc as my guide and they mark on absolutely any wood in any condition - bark, wet, punky, anything. Plus I've handed them out to friends. So I guess I'm about $2 all-in. Tony accomplished the same thing with that top-handle chainsaw for $100's. Chris, I'm definitely in your camp of don't waste money.
After I bought my MS462c I bought a used MS362c a second/back-up saw. I had used other 60 cc saws previously but I was so used to the power of the MS462c that I thought there was something wrong with it. It was just so slow in comparison. It got so I didn't want to use it. I sold it and bought the MS400c which is only a few cc's more but for whatever reason runs a lot faster and would keep up better with the MS462c. Just like Tony I now have a MS500i and MS462c. I find the 500i better in bigger wood. It tends to four-stroke a bit in smaller wood. The 462c will run right with the 500i in the smaller to mid-range stuff but if you get into anything really big the 500i shines. Nice work out there boys. I look forward to seeing your progress. It looks like you could be there for as long as you want to keep going. Dave
Dave you’re spot on, I had my 362 on that trip and after using the 462 at half throttle and 500 wide open it seemed I was waiting forever for the 362 to finish a cut. Don’t get me wrong the 362 is a great saw but we’ve gotten spoiled with more power on the 462/500i saws.
@@TonysCoolTools If you've only ever used 50-60 cc saws then the 362c is a great saw. Once you get a taste for a 70+ cc saw with a 24" bar for standing up and bucking 12" + wood it's hard to go back. The 261c, 362c and other saws in that class are great for smaller stuff, limbing or if you have physical limitations that prevent you from using a bigger heavier saw..... Although the 462c and 500i aren't a whole lot heavier. No let's talk about those Husqvarna chaps and suspenders you were wearing. Are we going to have to put your Stihl membership under review? 😁. Dave
I'm just wondering why don't you cut at ground level? Here in Europe we cut all of the tree so the stump is very short. Exception where the stump is longer is if the area is sloped. ( As a joke we say: the one who cuts at waist level is stealing wood, because he is too lazy to bend)
@@InTheWoodyard OK. Maybe he will cut it. I have just seen your video with 592 XP and it can cut, and I watched it on 1.25 speed so i was even more impressed.
That's what you call gravy cherry picking cutting there!! That's how it should be cutting firewood hahaha!! Good for you two out there! Stay safe my friend
Man I want in on helping you guys cut down some trees at that location. Just plain good exercise and entertainment and I work for free. I have plenty of saws. Betting the new toy is a Husqvarna 592XP like mine which is an awesome saw. Let me know how I get in on the fun.
Everytime someone offers me free wood it's over a hillside 20ft tangled in briars, lol. Liking the 462,and though I know husqvarna makes a good saw, they're not for me. Never really liked their outboard clutch and crank bearings, but that's just me. I run a 441cm as my 70cc saw and aside from it being kinda heavy it's done great for 10+ years pulling a 28" bar. If I were to buy a new bigger saw itd probably be a 462.
good afternoon i want to ask about the saw which do you prefer stiletto or husqvarna? all my friends mostly say that the stalk is the best saw because it has great power and light weight
Does your tractor with grapple fit in your new trailer? The logistics of what you're trying to do are a worry. I think this new lot is over an hours drive from the woodyard and on a good day you might fell and buck a trailer load or 2 cord and get it back to the woodyard. With a log landing using log trucks you'd save over 7 return trips in your own truck for every log truck. Hiring a log truck isn't cheap but doing 7 return trips in your truck isn't either. Using your tractor you'd probably get close to felling a log truck full in a day or maybe two and what a great time for Ken to pay a visit. It's your choice but using your truck you'll get 4 cord in two days compared to 16 to 32 cord using log trucks in the same time. You could come out of there with a couple of hundred cord in two weeks. You might have to divert a few trucks to Ken's and Tony's though.
I see you dumped all the firewood in your woodyard. Don't forget to pay Tony for his work!!! He needs all the money he can get to pay for that new saw.
Chris it is nice to see Stihl and huskys working together in a non compreance for a good job done.

@@albertbuikema4451 that is exactly what I was getting at!
Great cutting in the honey hole of wood!! How did Tony hold back on the trigger?? Seems like it would have been difficult. Have a Safe Day
Good question!
GP OUTDOORS says that's 462 was his best pick in his review of chainsaws,
Yup, it is a great saw!
why didnt you get the sugi harra or tsmura bar
Because the dealer had the Husqvarna one.
What model is that Husky he was using?
I was cutting with a 572xp. Thanks for watching!
Question from the Woods
How far away is Tony’s Woodyard?
How far is your Woodyard Chris?
Just so we can get an idea how far you both need to travel.
Tony is 5 miles and I am about 40.
@@InTheWoodyard just thinking of all the trailer loads...😀
I was thinking about a ms400 it would be a good all rounder between my old ms260 and 288xp
Spend a little more and get a 462 of 500 you will thank me!
What do you think of Tony's magnetic stick on a small saw to mark with?
It seems to work good!
I use something similar
Was that a homemade tool you were using to measure with.Would love to know more about it.👍
Yes it was, I have a few videos all about it on my channel, it is a zip tie!!
Hey Chris, I recently started to try and identify trees and just a suggestion maybe you could mention in your videos what type of wood your cutting. Is that White oak tony and your were cutting?
I do try to mention most tree type as I cut them, I will do more!
The 400 is more than 60cc, it’s actually 67. I recently bought the 400 with 20’ bar and it’s a fantastic saw. Only 5cc less than 462 but weighs less too
Yup, I ran one and the 500 is a much better/faster saw in my opinion and the 462 is also.
Stihl chain needs sharpened!!
Yup, the 462 and the 5oo are great saws!
Sure would be nice if you put your videos out in order. One episode you have a new trailer next one you have the old one. I'm all sorts of confused but in turn that dont take much. Just kidding. Love the videos no matter what the order is. 🤪👍
When I have a new big deal, saw, trailer, tool, I put it ahead of other videos.
I thought this was a ms 462c video, and all I see is the husky?
Must be a better saw??? HA!
The wood honey hole is awesome. Drop all the trees in the open field! Don't get any better that that. GNI
Ya, and the woods are pretty open too!
I would love to own a husky saw and that may happen some day🤞
I think he wears a Husqvarna thong! But I do not know for sure and don't want to know for sure!!!!!!
To go with your HUSKY THONG??
@@TonysCoolTools Just busting your chops Tony, it looks like a really nice saw. You have the best toys and now all you need to do is raise monster elk to compete with Jason from NM, then Chris will love you again. Tough to compete with an elk like that, it was a beauty!!
Hey Chris tell Tony to check out Perry suspenders, the best on the market!
You just did, he reads the comments! Thanks Jeff!
Jeff I do have a couple pair of Perry suspenders. I like them for my jeans but prefer the Husky wider straps for my chaps which are pretty heavy
Sounds great Michael!
Team Tony! Haha! I think I just love all chainsaws?
Chris I agree with you 100%, if it’s sharp and it cuts who cares about the brand!!!
Yup, me too!
Yup, that is because you are smart!
New toy. Nice! It's frustrating watchin that oak being cut. It just doesn't grow around my place!
Yes, it is great firewood!
Chris and Tony, just wondering about the brush, do you have to pile it up or is the property owner taking care of it?
The owner chips it up!
@@InTheWoodyard perfect
😁. Dave
I agree with all you said Dave, right on!
Yup, me too!
HAAAAA!
Wow, great stuff....all that wood...yar a lucky lad...If you fell of a roof you would go up
Thanks Gerry!
Tony rockin Husky suspenders???
Tony, come on bud you’re better then that! 😂
His true feelings are showing!
another great video! you guys really need to try out the Echo CS-620P! its a beast
I did use a 7310 Echo a few videos ago, nice saw!
Lots of wood 🪵
Yup, there sure is!
New to the channel, but a life long Wisconsinite. My tree farm is in Forest County, where abouts are you?
I am from Appleton, but up at my brothers in Park Falls area now..
My place is about 80 miles from both locations. I am in the other part of the National Forest. Keep up the good work…
I'm just wondering why don't you cut at ground level? Here in Europe we cut all of the tree so the stump is very short. Exception where the stump is longer is if the area is sloped. ( As a joke we say: the one who cuts at waist level is stealing wood, because he is too lazy to bend)
I do cut my stumps off most of the time, the land owner wanted them left high, so I did.
@@InTheWoodyard
OK. Maybe he will cut it.
I have just seen your video with 592 XP and it can cut, and I watched it on 1.25 speed so i was even more impressed.
Many times if the stumps get removed with a dozer they prefer to have high stumps.@@hp1468
Just sold some wood to a guy who ran out! Needed a little but to finish off the heating season.
Yup, that happens a lot in the late spring!
That's what you call gravy cherry picking cutting there!! That's how it should be cutting firewood hahaha!! Good for you two out there! Stay safe my friend
You got that right! Thanks Tim!
👍
Thanks!
hi there i thought his marking saw was a 201 . john
Good question, I am not sure.
That amount of wood I would call around and contract out a log truck.
It is not my land and the owner does not want logging equipment on HIS land.
Man I want in on helping you guys cut down some trees at that location. Just plain good exercise and entertainment and I work for free. I have plenty of saws. Betting the new toy is a Husqvarna 592XP like mine which is an awesome saw. Let me know how I get in on the fun.
The owner does not want a heard of people he does not know on his land, I would do the same. Thanks for the offer.
@@InTheWoodyard roger that.
Nice to cut with someone , safer also . Have a good time .
Yes, thanks Bruce!
The 462 is an awesome saw!!!
One looked like a husky?
Yup.
Скажіть ваша думка пацани яка краща пилка штіль чи хускварна ?? На мою думку 462 сама мошна і сама легка !!

good afternoon i want to ask about the saw which do you prefer stiletto or husqvarna? all my friends mostly say that the stalk is the best saw because it has great power and light weight
👍👍
Thanks Bill!
The owner does not want big logging equipment on his land.
I see you dumped all the firewood in your woodyard. Don't forget to pay Tony for his work!!! He needs all the money he can get to pay for that new saw.
Tony borrows money to God!
