The Jason ratings are for the wet clutch not The 2 cycle oil The FD or tc is for the 2cycle ratting as far as I know the Jason FD Is the cleanest

I've been happy with the results I've been getting from Echo RedArmor oil so far. I usually mix a little closer to 40:1 than 50:1.

How are you supposed to run it then? Lol

I run my ported saws at 32.1.. I don't get to use them much but I do use oils you recommend now after seeing your tests

Most engine failures I have seen is caused by people using the wrong gas can. They grab the one for the 4 stroke lawnmower and put it in their saw. This is why I paint all my saw cans. They have rules.

I have yet to kill a saw. I do use the HP ultra but keep it on the rich side. I will try and keep track of things and possibly give a report. I run only Stihl saws up to an 880. Mostly because I'm in the mountains. I also kind of like the smoke...

Bought this a couple of months ago because I wanted a decent brand of oil and this seemed perfect for the amount and the price. Glad I picked a good choice. I’ve been running 50:1 as I have forever but I’m switching to 40:1 because I wanted my dad’s old jonsered to live forever. I actually just looked at the cylinder through the exhaust tonight and she’s looking good. One super short skinny line off to the side and that’s it. Not worried at all.

Yup, probably all the junk running thru it didn’t help, then it would have leaned out when it got plugged up and that diaphragm sure wasn’t helping. Usually the Hyway cylinders are good unless someone tried porting them with a burr bit…they need abrasives only…or just left alone. Very similar to Meteor now.

Never loan out your saw or your wife. But then she will tell them they're doing it wrong. Poor saw can't help

Have you tested the Super Tech bar oil or 2 cycle oil? I looked but didn't see it anywhere.

I just bought a 661 cm and the Stihl guy actually said to make a 45:1 mix instead of 50:1 Ive always used stihl oil in my stihl but always put more the 20mls per litre normally around 25 or 30 mls per litre. Not sure about the ultra though always used the blue oil.

Thanks, exact fix I was looking for and hesitating to spend the 100 bucks on a piece of plastic.

I've been running VP 40:1 now for quite a while. I have absolutely NO complaints at all. The internals of the saws that have ran this mix look exceptional. That cannot be said about many oils on the market -- including Stihl mix oil.

Would be nice to have the diagnostic hook up-- but its not an end all be all. Great diagnostic!

Did you check piston clearance looks like too tight too much advance in a two stroke is a death sentence

I also heard for a long time that the ultra oil was no good but I have a 261 and a 462 and a 500i that all have probably 100 hours on them each and they’ve all been run with Moto mix. And I’ve seen many videos online that have done testing on the pre-mixes and they say the Stihl Moto mix is actually one of the best fuels out there for premix and yes I know it cost more actually a lot more lol but that’s all my saws have had run in them because where I live didn’t have ethanol free gas anywhere for a long time and I wasn’t gonna run ethanol through my saws and have never had any issues so far.

what i dont get is if this a tree service's saw why are they not getting it rebuilt with oem parts? yeah its not cheap but also not as exspensive as a new saw either. i hope it doesnt just get thrown in a junk pile to rot that would be a shame.

That sounds like user error to me. I've had zero issues with my 261c/m

Can you elaborate on getting access to the Stihl parts website? That would be a huge help to have access to part numbers for sourcing replacements. We have a tree service company with dozens of Stihl saws.
