    Nice one. I will be transitioning from the 737NG to the A321NEO somewhere in the coming years. This video gives a nice insight in what's waiting for me.

    • @klamin_original
      @klamin_original 10 місяців тому +2

      From an enthusiast point of view you will probably have less "exciting" stuff but rather focused and thought through efficient ways how the cockpit handles.
      I mean I only have sim experience but the difference between the 737NG and the A321NEO is relatively big.
      The 737NG cockpit in the sim has almost like an "engineery" atmosphere so like you're actually working this flying machine while the A321NEO feels more like an office you got work to do in. It resonates especially with the control column vs. the sidestick and table.
      I think it's true what many who have flown both a Boeing plane and an Airbus plane say: In a Boeing you're working machinery, in an Airbus you're guiding a computer to do work for you, although obviously Boeing aircrafts also have computers. ;)
      Neither is better than the other, they're just different.

    • @Ray737Pilot
      @Ray737Pilot 10 місяців тому +1

      @@klamin_original That is what I imagine it will be like. The Airbus is ergonomically better, but the job will shift a bit from 'handling the machine' to 'handling the process'. In view of the current heavy traffic I think the latter might be better. You should not have to worry about handling the machine. However pilots do like handling machinery....
      It will be interesting anyway!

    • @klamin_original
      @klamin_original 10 місяців тому

      @@Ray737Pilot Considering the latest rise in incidents in the US (as in the last couple of years) related to bad manual flying and judgement skills I do think pilots need to be aware of their skills and need to keep flying manually at times, especially start and landing in good conditions.
      However I’d also agree that leaving work to the computer while just guiding the computer is giving you an increase in aviation safety although people really need to understand the computer systems and adjust to it.
      We all remember the infamous Air France crash back then, human error partly also due to lack of awareness of the way the computers worked. As after every major accident in aviation history protection procedures have changed and improved since then but it showed that even the best intentions in computer safety design can result in problems when the pilots aren’t familiar with the situation.
      But in general I agree that the Airbus way of doing things looks to be the „better“ or at least safer choice these days. Especially after considering how Boeing and the FAA literally created a software unintentionally but negligently killing hundreds of people with the MCAS software. The whole aircraft redesign of the MAX models was a disaster from the beginning, it’s clearly visible that they were in an economic panic mode since Airbus had a much better understanding of renewing their designs with the neo models.

    Traffic on ND shows differently than I'm seeing on A32NX and Fenix in MSFS, where they show as diamond shaped icons as I recall, at least not anything resembling an airplane, like here. Good improvement, with faster and more intuitive sense of direction and possible also size of aircraft. I also notice a new Traffic Selector knob. I see it's called ATSAW. What versions have these improvement? Also newer A320 Neos? I ask since the video shows apparently an A321, at least for parts of it.

    Does anyone know why GPS altitude differs so much from barometric altitude when it is switched to it? Is it because the altimeter setting number of the barometric one is wrong? I think at that altitude of 38000, it's just 2992, isn't it? If it's 20ft it could be disregarded but it's more than 2000ft difference! It's too much! If the barometric pressure sensor fails then switch to GPS one, I wonder how the flight computer reacts to that big difference. I guess it will be confused about it and then will make an unexpected stupid move since it's Airbus. Later, will be described on TV as "Mayday Air Crash Investigation", NTSB will find it why and John Nance will explain it but I can't wait to see why.

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 6 місяців тому

      There are 3 sets of static ports on Airbus A320, one for each of the ADR's and 3rd also used for ISIS. The 787 uses the exact same backup system, backup altitude provided by GPS. GPS altitude is not always as accurate as you think. Also if the local pressure is very different then it would differ greatly to the GPS. 1013/29.92 is just the standard so every aircraft will adjust if pressure changes at the same time
