- This is how pilots operate flight controls on the A321Neo (Leap1a engines) during take-off and landing. We had a BIRD STRIKE during landing, it did not compromise safety or damaged the aircraft.
3 camera Point of view.
Recorded with Sony a6500 (Sidestick) Gopro 6 (Nose view) and Gopro Session (thrust and pedestal).

Thrustmaster Airbus and FS2020 brought me here 😁
@@rufox520 Delayed again!, was looking forward to Friday, Another 3 weeks to wait! 🤢
Yeah me too 😍
I love watching videos like this because it bust a lot of the myths I get on my flight sim forums. One for example is that 80 knots thrust reversers go back to idle. Here, in real life, thrust reverse was deactivated at 30 knots. Way below what I have been stopping at. Thank you for such well made and detailed video.
Alex Howard hi, on A320 aircraft thrust reversers go back to idle at 70kts and are stowed at 30 knots, 25 when the runway is covered in snow.
In this instance they used only idle reverse not full reverse. If they had used full reverse they would have moved the levers to idle at 70 and stowed at 30. What you saw here was idle reverse being used which is why they were stowed at 30kts.
The new fs 2020 looks amazing
Even tho its physics are questionable compared to x-plane

Its really cool to see the mentioning of take-off and landing control.
Very cool camera angles at the throttle and the sidestick, never seen this before. Love your videos, keep up the great work!
*controls And thrust levers 😅 lmao
Whoops, sidestick and throttle that is.😅
More pedel action please!
As a virtual pilot A320 I appreciate (so much) when pilots allow and prioritize the technical flight instead of another subjects. You have more one subscribed in your channel. Tks a lot, pilots. Greetings from Brazil.
I'll hope more videos like this.thanks.
So interesting seeing how the trust levers work in an Airbus. Great perspective.

This is a Unique and amazing point of view! Well done guys!!
I have watched millions of youtube videos. This is one of the best.
Thrust lever detents very nicely shown. I was confused regarding the position of the detents and thier use. TO/GA, FLX/MCT, CLB, IDLE and REV. Got it now!!

What a great video!
It's so beautiful
This is the best camera angle to shoot a cockpit takeoff and landing, I always used to wonder how much the sidestick would be pulled back or moved great job 👍
Amazing one

Very nice. I am familiar with basic A320 operation (and the neo is really no different), but have rarely seen it like this. Thank you.
Did you use only idle reverse? It looks like you didn't push the levers all the way back.
pinkdispatcher yes, it was idle reverse only

What was the need to turn off auto-thrust with auto-pilot? In CL position if you adjust speed from FCU, won't it auto adjust thrust too?

Hi.
Cancun is usually a bumpy and windy approach and this can be a bit challenging to the A/T system.
Do you usually goes A/T OFF in those situations? Is it a common practice in your company?
Thanks.
Mauricio hi, A/THR can handle stronger winds, I set it to off because the purpose of the video is to show flight control movement, also because I like to fly manually. Indeed, hand flown landings are encouraged in the airline to keep pilots proficient
RobT Cockpit videos tks bro
I wanted to see if there was damage from the strike😂 but good video!
See the notes under the video.
Very interesting. I've never seen someone using manual thrust on an airbus
they sometime use manual thrust on landing. depends on the airline’s SOP tho.
@@ItsJustMeMusic yeah, I heard an Airbus pilot vlog. Some airlines doesn't allow manual thrust.
i want that Thrustmaster gear!
you can actually see the blood return to the skin around his thumbnail on the hand at the sidestick after touchdown, that was a tight grip
wow Flight simulator 2020 looks so good
I don't think I've ever seen one of these videos on a A320 where the pilot disengages the autothrottle on approach.
What are those 2 black and white discs next the thrust levers that keep spinning one way or the other?
Debarshi Biswas the automatic trim
Lucky there were no issues with that bird strike. Those always freak me out especially when there’s not much room/time for emergency procedures

When you say Rotate and the nose goes up, isn’t that an action of the “wheel” in the center in front of the pilots? The yoke doesn’t make the most go up at rotate, correct? But the yoke DOES steer left and right?
M J the yoke controls the Ailerons (which make the plane turn) and the elevator (which changes the pitch). The wheel by the throttles controls the pitch trim. On the ground steering is controlled by the tiller and sometimes the rudder as well.
No. On ground the auto trim is unavailable. On rotation the Sidestick is pulled back which deflects the elevators up and makes the plane climb. A few seconds after rotation the auto trim is available and will then trim the aircraft to the required pitch.
The yoke (or a sidestick in an airbus) is responsible for the rotation during takeoff. When the stick is pulled, it deflects the elevators ( near the tail of the plane) upwards, making the nose wheel of the plane lift up. Once the plane is airborne, then the wheel are retracted, using another lever.
Also about turning left and right, on the ground, pilots use the tiller (hand operated) or the rudder pedals (foot operated). In the air, pilots use the ailerons(controlled by the sidestick) and the rudder on the tail (controlled by the rudder pedals) to turn.
So the trim wheel moves while you’re holding the stick - do your inputs on the stick move the trim wheel?
the trim wheel moves every time the pitch attitude of the aircraft needs to be compensated, with pilot input on the stick or autopilot orders.
Awesome video! I have a question, why was the autothrust turned off so early? Once again, thanks for sharing!!
well, the video is about the operation of the flight controls so i thought it would be nice to disconect the autothrust early to show the movement of the levers, the second reason is because i like that old school hand flown flight!
what is autothrust? o.o
RobT Cockpit videos ah I see, thank you for replying!

At What Speeds rudder pedals assist into turning when on ground??
Yash Shah they can be used at any speed
is that a flaps 3 take-off? :O
Nice to see someone not activating the A/P at 500 agl and actually flying the airplane, I have a question does your airline has a policy regarding how much time or at what altitude you can fly manually after take off?
Diego Andres thanks, auto pilot is only mandatory in RVSM Airspace (FL290 to FL410) I like to fly manually and certainly this airline encourage hand flown take-offs and landings to keep pilots proficient.
@@RobT_Cockpit_videos Thank you for your answer, I heard that at some airlines it's mandatory to activate the AP at 1000 agl but I don't know if that's a myth or it depends on the company.
Diego Andres it is true, many of the major airlines in the world have several restrictions in disconnecting the autopilot, some of them to a punitive level, which I found very disturbing. See Asiana flight 214. one of the contributing factors in the accident was that pilots didn’t knew how to fly manually
RobT Cockpit videos Or its just hey its cooler doing this, compensate me from not flying a cool boeing like those cool macho ass boeing pilot, talk about the airplane actually let you roll them or flying upside down yeah. Those passenger can go fk themselfs , were not good enough to join the airforce, so were try as "manually" as possible cause being a pilot is all about being "Bob Hoover" cools, fuck those weak ass company policy and their puny ass passengers.
RobT Cockpit videos Aeroflot requires pilots to engage autopilot immediately after takeoff. They only allow pilots to fly simulators manually every 6 months. And lack of manual flying skills was the reason of accident in SVO, 2019.
(just curious) Why did you put thrust levels to "reverse" so early? If something's happen this could be dangerous for a Go Around? At least for me 1 more second after touchdown it's a better operation, mainly because "reverse" it's just an additional to the brakes.
Rafael Oliveira delay reverse thrust for safety? Never heard of it. That is not a standard practice on airlines
@@RobT_Cockpit_videos Thank you!
Wasn't early at all
@@cmaviation525 should be operated after nose gear touches down.
@@user-tx9ys8cn6x Nope, as long as the aircraft has touched down they can be activated
I was thinking you will not stop to the end of runway. Looks like you were going very fast.
Did the bird end up in hospital, you know anything?
what causes trim wheel to move at 4:30 when autopilot/thrust is off?
pitch trim will always be automatic regardless of the autopilot status, it will always try to maintain the attitude commanded by the pilot on the sidestick or by the autopilot.
Ok, i can fly now
Why are the landing lights off "just" after takeoff? Already 10000 feet?
Por que motivo aterrizo sin el autothrotle? por que decidió aterrizarlo manual?
Ese es el motivo del video, para mostrar la operación manual de los controles, para que veas que tanto “input” se requiere.
Correct me if I’m wrong please but during the FMA callout did I hear you say “Man FLEX 99?” I’m concerned because I don’t think 99 is number that can be used for takeoff unless the neo engines posses some type of low-power capability that I am unaware of 😂
it was FLEX 39
