I love everything about Breloom: Its versatility in battles, its badass-cute-derp look it has going on, its abilities, typing, attacks, and simply the history I have with it. I'm not a competitive player though, so knowing that it's a solid pokemon even amongst professionals is quite validating!
Before realizing it had arms-- and how far they could stretch-- I actually thought it used Fighting moves with the Ankylosaur-esque, blunt-looking thing on its tail...
Damn, this australian mushroom got everything he could possibly want in terms of movepool and abilities. Good thing that it never got a Mega that boosted its speed. The HORROR.
@Chris Williams What does that even do? I think you forgot, taunt/icicle spear, and also I'm assuming the other move you're using is a fightning move. And either u run technician or most bulky ghosts won't care. Also Gliscor beats that set easily, any sleep imune pokemon does tbh.
one of my favorite grass types ever. The only reason I always start with Swampert in Hoenn games instead of sceptile (which is also another of my favorite grass types). Still remember the nickname I came up for it during gen 4 games: "2MushPower"
I've always loved breelom! I remember when I used to play pokemon XD when I was little and my nanny told me she loved that pokemon too hahaha good times and good video as always!
I found Rocktomb is a good move for Breloom's hidden ability, it buffs to 90 damage and is more reliable then Stone Edge on top of the 100% speed decrease chance.
This needs a remaster, if only to update its interesting career. Once the Tyranitar remake is done, I want this one to be next. Anyway, here's a highly abbreviated version - in Gen 7, Breloom dropped to UU, but was suspect-tested and banned to UUBL. It was left out of Gen 8 entirely due to Dexit, and in Gen 9...it's BACK IN OU! Its golden combination of Spore, Technician, STAB Mach Punch + Bullet Seed combo and great base Attack have basically made it all but immune to the generational power creep. You can slap Tera-Fire on it to keep it from getting wrecked by Fairy and Fire-types while also removing its Psychic and Flying weaknesses. Most importantly, that Tera-Fire typing is perfect for it defensively - its two base types of Grass and Fighting will discourage players from switching a Water, Ground or Rock type into it, lest they get blasted by Technician-boosted STAB Mach Punch and Bullet Seed. The two suggested sets use either Focus Sash or Choice Band...and in fact, you can go entirely WITHOUT Spore with the latter set! Edit: I'm so happy that it's still good after all these years, especially since my first ever full odds Shiny was a Shroomish that I've since raised into a competitive. Arceus bless Hyper Training!
One of the great things you learn on this channel is that a 4x weakness does not mean you are horrible. In fact, Usually Pokemon like this are some of the best to use.
Gen 5 also gave it Custap, which was either not released until late Gen 6 or never released in Gen 6 at all, I don't remember. I know it's not out in gen 7 yet though.
Gens 2 and 3: Great spiker, meh spinner Gen 4: meh spiker Gen 5: kinda decent spiker due to slow Volt Switch and a buffed Sturdy Gen 6: Meh Pokémon in general Gen 7: It's really bad
False swipe didn't even mention Breloom being the best false swipper (because technician + spore) I know I know, nothing to do with competitive, but still, the channel name is false swipe
Actually this would fall onto a couple Pokémon. Parasect gets damp in addition to spore and false swipe. Pangoro and a whole bunch of Pokémon get false swipe and some combo to hit ghosts. Swapping items, giving items, foresight, Oder sleuth, scrappy, and a couple more.
No no no, it's Absol or Pangoro. Absol has the much more effective Thunder Wave, while Pangoro has the Scrappy ability and Entrainment. Both also having access to Thief for robbing SOS helpers of their razor fangs and whatnot.
Ohfishyfishyfish The problem with Absol Thunder Wave is that Pokemons can set up still. After a couple sword dances or nasty plots any pokemon becomes annoying. Sleeps makes it less annoying to deal with.
It's pretty amazing how Breloom is such a strong pokemon despite having one good stat. It's typing, abilities, and movepool all more than compensate for it.
Nico Nexus I'm aware of Tangrowth's changes from Generation to Generation, I just like watching these videos, lol. I think it'd be particularly interesting to see him talk about how it started Gen. VI being in NU, but then saw a massive spike in usage.
Breloom was damn good. Like seriously out the gate he was one of the most reliable focus punchers. Gen 4 gave him so many options he could be anything from a sledgehammer to regenerating wall. Gen 5 gave him even more options and more roles. Breloom was awesome.
I was soft resetting for a shiny poipole (that purple ultra beast) and was getting tired of it, but when this video came up in my feed i became really happy (i was also getting bored), couple minutes later when i looked again at my screen, there he was, that shiny alien sh*t. Metagrosss or Salamence would be 2 good moms to follow up with if we're sticking with gen 3, but if you wanted to you can go back to gen 2 and talk about Gligar and then later Gliscor
If you’re curious and want an image of breloom using its arms. In the Pokémon Adventures manga during the Ruby & Sapphire arc, a trainer uses a breloom and you see it’s stretchy arms….oh and also the Pokémon Adventures manga is pretty damn amazing, highly recommend it

The first time I trained breloom it was actually an accident. I had gotten seedot and shroomish evolutions mixed up and by the time I realized my mistake, I was in love. With shroomiah, lol. When he evolved I legit raged. But I loved my little Jericho despite his difficulties and decided to give him a chance. BOY! Am I glad I did. He is officially my 3rd favorite Pokemon, beaten only by typhlosion and umbreon, which are actually tied, so maybe technically he is in slot #2. Anyways, he was a powerhouse and came in clutch every time I needed him. I have named every shroomish I use Jericho ever since, in homage to the first one. Also, the first Pokemon I ever nicknamed aside from sparky the pikachu
Brendan Pryce Aggron sucks, lol. In 6th gen even Game Freak admitted that Steel/ Rock is a horrible typing by giving it a mega form that made it pure Steel - and it still sucked as a mega.
Andrei Valdez true. I still at least wanna see a vid covering Aggron. Even though it wasn’t the best, I still think it could have at least some usage you know?
There was a word where it took me a while to figure out which word you were trying to say, but I can appreciate the effort since I've mispronounced plenty of words I read long before I ever heard them out loud. It's "pew-jill-ist-ic"

How good was Muk actually?
Also, the first Pokemon I ever nicknamed aside from sparky the pikachu
your enthusiasm in this video is so adorable.
oh shiiiiit, gen 3. love breloom ♥️
now next im hoping for garchomp or aggron. or swampert...
Come On Marowak Next Week
Since you do Gen 3 now , lets do Metagross or Blaziken
Thank you patrons! Great pick in stretchy arms. Now let's finish off my favourites with Marowak / A-Marowak!
I am surprised Power-Up Punch wasn't considered in Gen VI for Breloom, as it's boosted by Technician, and increases its Attack, every time it lands!
How GOOD was Serperior ACTUALLY? Nice vid buddy!
I can still hear the Leaf Storm spam
Well it WAS pretty trash just became good in gen 6 and FSG doesn't cover gen 7 so yeah
How good was gligar and gliscor?
They'd be separate, due to different playstyle.
Yep
Aggron maybe?
Brendan Pryce Aggron sucks, lol. In 6th gen even Game Freak admitted that Steel/ Rock is a horrible typing by giving it a mega form that made it pure Steel - and it still sucked as a mega.
Andrei Valdez true. I still at least wanna see a vid covering Aggron. Even though it wasn’t the best, I still think it could have at least some usage you know?
WOO GO AGGGRONNNNN
Andrei Valdez I mean he did shuckle soooo
There was a word where it took me a while to figure out which word you were trying to say, but I can appreciate the effort since I've mispronounced plenty of words I read long before I ever heard them out loud.
It's "pew-jill-ist-ic"
I love these videos! Keep it up man
