For scenarios like these, I feel like the anime is the best source of how big these towns and cities can be, especially given the programming limitations he mentioned at the beginning. Also, it's been a somewhat popular theory that the tiny depictions of the towns in the games are because we are seeing them through the narrow world view of the player character, a child pokemon trainer. They would probably only perceive the more important locations and buildings for them: gyms for league badges, pokemon centers for healing, poke marts for buying health items and pokeballs. Plus a few other places for important items and npc info that is purely on the game side. Would also explain why, up until like gen 5, we never saw actual roads in these regions. Like, where did your moving van come from in gen 3? And how do any of these npcs travel to other locations without huffing it through the woods on foot for several days? I'm sure there plenty of holes in this, but hey, it's just a theory.

@@fictionfan0 he always liked ash just didn’t respect his weakness. Why else would he cry for him when Ash sacrificed himself to stop Mew and Mewtwo’s fight if he did not love him
They actually did something interesting for Sword and Shield. Chairman Rose is the head villain and most of the rest of the league representatives have to follow his command. Even Leon, the champion before the player, is given a lot of trouble for delaying or outright saying no to obeying corrupt orders. It was an interesting change from the typical evil team. But that does mean I'd be skeptical about living ANYWHERE in Galar.
I'm personally very glad that Geeta from Scarlet and Violet is not another corrupt executive repeat, because I thought Rose was a clunky and badly written villain. Pokémon needs to drop this twist villain rubbish because that bollocks doesn't work without good storytelling. It only works in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.

So is Fallabor town and Lenimas Town and there hash weather I would not like to live in Lenimas Town especially because there a haunted house with ghost inside.
I'm curious what your thoughts are on towns from Scarlet and Violet. My vote on the worst town there (assuming the "Ice gym city" doesn't qualify since it's literally only a pokemon stand, gym, and one battle court) would have to be the Ghost type gym. Aside from the obvious "It's cold" and "it's up a mountain making supply routes questionable" arguments, the gym leader is a renown DJ that requires an opening act and a pre- and post- battle set every time a gym challenger challenges them. What if you don't want that EVERY NIGHT? Are you going to say something to them and either get humiliated in a rap battle or have your pokemon beaten up by a gym leader? On top of all that, those snow-covered peaks tower immediately over the town, and nobody is concerned about an avalanche (maybe, I don't know... a SOND INDUCED AVALANCHE?!)
I find your assessment of Montenevera quite on point. I may not know much about the dangers of avalanches, but having a somewhat LOUD sound-related gym up in the snowy mountains does seem a bit... questionable. Also, I'm not quite sure on the accessibility, as every time I've visited it has been climbing randomly over the snowy hills or flying to the nearest Pokestop, so I'm not sure if there's a walkable route you can use. There probably is something, though. Also, while not nearly as bad, but I'd rather not live in Cascarrafa either. It may be a nice and rather blooming city, but the lowest part gets buffeted by sandstorms from the neighbouring Asado desert. Which does not seem pleasant.
@@SKuusk95 There is one long, snow covered path switch-backing up the mountain past many (to the average civilian) high leveled Pokémon. Concerns about accessibility are rather on point. Fair point on Cascarrafa, but if Phoenix can make it work, I'm not surprised they can too. It's more "Irritating" bad than "potentially a hazard to life and wellbeing" bad.
Most cities are pretty chill in Paldea Montenevra is cold, hard to access, all those things mentioned The psychic city might be hard to access from one side but the other side should be fine Zapacito is kind of in the middle of nowhere but that isn’t inherently awful Paldea has for the most part normal cities

Funny thing is, even office workers in game have some pretty scary pokemons, like the colleagues double trainer battle in sword shield have a team of lucario, hippowdon, perrserker, and excadrill
For pacifidlog its worth noting that raft cities actually exist in real life and although you need to carefully prep for them ocean storms are not a major problem as there are plenty of countermeasures in place including ones that would not be visible to the player in the games which can be assumed to exist
Also to address his resource concern, it seems to be like maybe 5 miles from a major port (Slateport), so outside of really massive storms getting supplies there wouldn't be particularly difficult. Also another comment mentioned something I forgot, Sky Pillar is right next door, which houses Rayquaza, meaning Pacifilog probably only ever gets storms when both Rayquaza leaves the tower, and there happens to a storm on the way, so honestly they probably don't really have inclement weather, ever.
Seeing as the postgame ferry ship can go all the way from Slateport to Lilycove and back again, supplying Pacifidlog probably isn't too challenging for Slateport. I imagine these two settlements having some strong connections.
I think Pacifidlog & Cinnabar are among the _coolest_ & exotic Locations in the entire series. I mean, yes Cinnabar does get blown up lol - *but* ,,, at least you still get all that *Fresh, Free lobster* for yourself!! 🦞🦞
To be fair if you don't want to worry about the ladder problems in fortree city, you can always catch a pokemon nearby to help you cary groceries or keep away other pokemon. I think having a tropius would help a lot since you can find them in the nearby route and they can also just fly you up the treehouse platforms and carry your stuff for you. Plus with their long necks, they would make a great lookout for any danger.
Or a spinarak/ariados, or a wingull/pelipper. Wingull are everywhere, it wouldn't exactly be hard to get a giant pelican to help carry your stuff. Hell, I'm pretty sure you can get Slakoth/Vigoroth in the nearby routes
Then specifically get yourself a Surskit and evolve it since Masquerain can hold onto all of Surskit's Water moves. Plus it flies and gets String Shot, great for helping lift your shopping up to your house.

I wouldn't see Po town as such a huge threat to my safety considering Team Skull are reformed by the end of the USUM storyline and they're incredibly loyal to Guzma and Plumeria so I highly doubt they'd go against their boss' orders to not start any trouble.
I'd add Fallarbor Town to the list, personally, if only because of the constant volcanic ash in the next route over. I may not have any immediate respiratory problems, but I very much intend to keep it that way. I'd also like to point out that the area seems to get *all* the ash; to put it in perspective, Lavaridge Town is probably closer to Mt. Chimney, but gets more benefits (i.e. hot springs) with no nasty side effects.
Giant Chasm is also dangerous area to explore since a legendary dragon/ice type monstrous dragon pokemon is said to resides on that area and is said to eat people and pokemons at nighttime.
I know you didn't mention Circhester, but I feel like it also bears mentioning because it has a lot of similar issues to Snowpoint; it's always snowing, and the only ways to access it are by air, through the treacherous, half-frozen waters of Circhester Bay, or on foot over the rough, broken ruins of Route 8.
also, about cinnabar island is LITERALLY surrounded by water, and its tiny. every time i walk there, i usually bump into the edge of the island, now in a video game, they wont let u fall into the sea, but in real life, i would rather not step outside of my house, take a couple of steps forward, and fall into the glitchy and haunted sea.
@@endslayer5133 I meant in the 'anime variation' of Teleport there was the one D/P episode where the chick with an Abra used Teleport for Ash and the gang to get to Hearthome City.
I personally also think Lavaridge could be a pretty uncomfortable place to live. You don't see this visually in the games, but considering you're sandwiched between a Volcano and a route where it is constantly snowing ash....even just breathing in that area has gotta be hellish
14:50 What's funny is that story has a giant plothole simply due to Kyrem's design. It's mouth is completely frozen shut so how could it people remains a mystery to me.
Well, has anyone actually seen Kyurem eat people? That part definitely feels like an assumption of what happens to the people stolen away by Kyurem and are never seen again. Perhaps Kyurem in those days was just an asshole who killed for sport.
@@gengarzilla1685 No there's a story about Kyurem that's been hidden in plain sight for a decade now and considering how deep Poketubers into other theories and mysteries, I'm surprised they've skipped of Kyurem's all this time which is why I aim to make a video and uncover it. (And no, it's not just the Laucunosa legend or how Kyurem was 1 dragon originally, it involves those stories but I go a lot deeper than that.)
Giant Chasm is also dangerous area to explore since a legendary dragon/ice type monstrous dragon pokemon is said to resides on that area and is said to eat people and pokemons at nighttime.
Also, about Fortree City, the wooden bridges don’t have any handrails, so you’re literally one windy day away from falling to your death. Furthermore, if lightning strikes one of the trees (and that’s a very likely possibility given their size and how much it rains there), that’s bad enough but now the whole city has a chance of being destroyed in a wildfire.
The Under in Pokémon Colosseum was really cool to visit but was underground, run by Cipher, and met its end before the sequel. Maybe good for a cautious visit or waiting till the postgame period.
Funnily enough I live in Texas and love whenever it does get cold! I hate how hot and muggy it is down here. I told my family that once I feel I’m ready I want to move further up north.
Mikey: Grunty Boy, you know what? I want you to take this bar of Grapefruit IPA. Subtitles: Crunchy Boy, you know what? I want you to take this bar of Grapefruit IPA.
The thing about Lacunosa Town is that 1. They never show nor name someone who was taken and eaten recently and 2. Assuming you live there after the events of the BW and BW2 games, either way, Kyurem has canonically been captured.
Makes me think of college towns that tend to have big parties and riots in the city based on their team’s performance, so I’d be a bit worried about living there, there’s a reason I avoid campus here.
Blackthorn City having a fairly safe exit at least helps. In emergencies they can evacuate down the mountain even if returning is slower and more difficult.
You mentioned SO many Hoenn towns already but Fallarbor town is covered in ash to the point that everyone is suffocating and Lavaridge is super inaccessable. Only able to get to it by fly or through the cable car then traveling town a super steep volcanic ridge.
9:24 That’s not to mention the sinking effect demonstrated in the games is caused by a pre-teen. I’m quite thin for my age but the average pre-teen would almost definitely way more than me. An adult trying to walk on the rafts would likely sink to or past their ankles, and considering the rafts are made of bound logs, an uneven surface, there’s a significant risk of slipping.
Let’s not forget Pacifidlog town, least for the old games, didn’t have any “shallow water” areas so you can assume Sharpedo, Tentacruel, even Wailmer would be happily stopping by the city. Imagine just walking across some planks to go to the Pokémon Center and a Sharpedo helps you meet your demise.
You know it never occured to me that Po Town was forcibly taken over. I assumed that it was abandoned for whatever reason and then Team Skull took it over, denying it from its new legal owner. But I think offical lore allows either version
@@thegreatbeavers I assume you mean Pu’uhonua o Waianae. That was the only thing about Waianae that resembles Po Town. And yeah, Po Town being a homeless encampment making the use of abandoned buildings makes sense. It also adds more depth to Team Skull's whole "we're only pretending to be evil" thing and would be consistent with Plumeria's characterization in Masters. It's just a mess because Team Skull aren't going to be that competent of community organizers. Also while Po comes from Hawaiian for darkness and Pu'uhonua means refugee, their first syllables are very similar.
@@SixArmedSweater That would also be consistent with Hawaii. Buying a house there as a local is very hard, as most property is owned by people from out of state as their second vacation home or as companies running another tourist geared business. A resort goes up instead of a neighborhood. A hotel goes up instead of an apartment building. So a bunch of locals pretending to be tough without the logistical knowledge to do a well run off the grid community taking over a failed resort fits.
Po town is literally living at Rio de janeiro in brazil,i dont live in there i live in like Vilhena rondonia(if you never heard of it thats ok pretty much the only thing this town is known for is probably being a footnote in a book) and its so different no cap
The Pearl Settlement in the Hisui region (the predecessor of Snowpoint City) doesn't seems that bad for me.....they at least seems to have several hot springs that would help to make the snow and cold a bit bearable 🙂
Yeah, team skull may not be the biggest, flashiest or most threatening villains you come across in the games, but they have arguably made more progress than most of the other teams by completely taking over Po town. A feat that’s arguably only equaled by team yell with Spikemuth, and only really surpassed long term by Team Rocket / Rainbow Rocket. Mainly because by the time you show up and give them what for in the generation one games, they’ve already established themselves as ma massive organised crime syndicate, that had enough going for it that they keep coming back after each consecutive smack down they get. (Yes they basically have nostalgia and plot armour on their side, but that’s besides the point)
"I'm gonna assume that the towns have a realistic number of buildings and houses And that they don't all face the same way" Hilarious observation we've all subconsciously thought about
well, in the anime, they stayed in the Pokemon Centers like hotels, so in the games, all of each town or island's (including post eruption Cinnabar) inhabitants could all be living in the Pokemon Center, assuming they all have steady supply chains.
I would also argue that if you live in the Ballonlea town in Galar, if you leave, you gotta watch out for not only impadimp, but other dangerous fairy type pokemon known to hurt humans (looking at you morelull and shiinotic). Even so, I would probably chill there if I couldn’t afford rent in Celadon or Goldenrod lol
When I first played the Gen 2 remakes and reached Cinnibar Island, my first thought was to pray that the people living on the island were able to completely evacuate.
With Pacifidlog town. The most pressing issue is supply, but storms actually aren't as bad as you'd think, there are real world towns that are built out of reeds including the 'ground' they float on. It is not the best place for most people to live as you can imagine and so this town is still very remote and a supply shortage would lead to the death of the populace. It's just the storms aren't nearly as bad as you originally mentioned, still a great video, good job.

11:16 This is actually one of the few times I think the anime had a better anime equivalent to the games. The anime made Ever Grande City an actual city, with buildings and people actually living there. It baffles me to this day that ORAS didn't give the city a complete makeover( A.k.a. an actual city) like they did with Mauville City. It would be understandable if the reason Ever Grande City was underdeveloped then originally planned due to the GBA's limited power at the time. But no, it was just like that all along! Why did they even name it if it was just an extension of Route 128?!?!?!?!
As a person who has lived in Texas and in a tropical country, I can say that the heat in Texas during summer is a more extreme, but it does get colder during the winter. In the tropical country I live in now, heat doesn't get as extreme as it does in Texas during the summer, but instead it lasts pretty much all year long. The only difference is that half of the year it rains almost all the time, and half of the year it doesn't. i lived in dallas as a child. before that, i lived in chicago (and later moved back to 🥶) back in chicago, my community was fairly religious (jewish). in religious jewish day schools, weather meant nothing and they'd make you tredge through the snow because we're _that_ obsessed with learning. high school was worse. if you had an english paper to turn in or a presentation for one of your judaic classes, it didn't matter if the roads were closed. secular classes would _sometimes_ get cancelled, but that was usually due to the teachers not being jewish and the head rabbis felt it unfair to make them go through the same level of torture. 🤣 anyway, it turned out that dallas was very different. in 3rd grade, we got just over an inch and a half of snow one day and they closed the school. i think it might have been the first time i remember even having a snow day. people were scrambling to buy firewood before the roads closed and i s2g it was only like 30 degrees fahrenheit. i miss you, dallas 😢
and we here in canada just kind of laughed at them until we learned that their houses aren't built to handle winter and it was actually all pretty bad.

The Alola Region, Po Town, Team Skull.... Seems like Gamefreak really did their research. That's sounds alot like Waianae XD
I think Team Skull might *be* the locals.
@@SixArmedSweater That would also be consistent with Hawaii. Buying a house there as a local is very hard, as most property is owned by people from out of state as their second vacation home or as companies running another tourist geared business. So a bunch of locals pretending to be tough without the logistical knowledge to do a well run off the grid community taking over a failed resort fits.

"I'm gonna assume that the towns have a realistic number of buildings and houses
And that they don't all face the same way"
Hilarious observation we've all subconsciously thought about
well, in the anime, they stayed in the Pokemon Centers like hotels, so in the games, all of each town or island's (including post eruption Cinnabar) inhabitants could all be living in the Pokemon Center, assuming they all have steady supply chains.

With Pacifidlog town. The most pressing issue is supply, but storms actually aren't as bad as you'd think, there are real world towns that are built out of reeds including the 'ground' they float on. It is not the best place for most people to live as you can imagine and so this town is still very remote and a supply shortage would lead to the death of the populace. back in chicago, my community was fairly religious (jewish). in religious jewish day schools, weather meant nothing and they'd make you tredge through the snow because we're _that_ obsessed with learning. high school was worse. if you had an english paper to turn in or a presentation for one of your judaic classes, it didn't matter if the roads were closed. secular classes would _sometimes_ get cancelled, but that was usually due to the teachers not being jewish and the head rabbis felt it unfair to make them go through the same level of torture. 🤣
anyway, it turned out that dallas was very different. in 3rd grade, we got just over an inch and a half of snow one day and they closed the school. i think it might have been the first time i remember even having a snow day. people were scrambling to buy firewood before the roads closed and i s2g it was only like 30 degrees fahrenheit.

Maybe that's why his family moved. Also, I didn't know he was born there.
Dr Squatch has never had a better ad than that shower scene
The worrying thing is how Michael had that image in his brain? Was he in the shower with him?
Lol tru
Trey Kennedy’s comes close but you’re right
@@dawnbelleini8036
Maybe that's why Grunty Boi said they were shower buddies.
False.... donut media
MandJTV: The only UA-camr in existence who makes his sponsor sections actually fun to watch
What about ryan george he literally threatened his cousin one point to be more stereotypical
Hot take:
Correction, one of the few
Raiden from Playerinside. If you're not italian you can't understand lol

Idk I thought that was so funny
“Tapu Village is a historical site with a Pokémon center that I would not live in. There’s nothing there.”
*Looks at Mount Lanakila and the Pokémon League*
I love how no one has ever mentioned the fact that in alola the second island has an active volcano, so there’s always the risk for the whole island becoming destroyed
Yeah and they also have a trial there
The Tapus can supress or redirect any volcanic activity. Koko to control the volcanic lightning and push away smog, Fini to cool the lava, Bulu to plant new growth, Lele to heal anyone hurt by the volcano.
@@sieragagne532 oh really, I didn't know that
@@sieragagne532 The thing is that i would prefer to detonate a nuke on the island before being helped by the OU meta itself, and as far as i know, they stick to their islands so lele could help, but only lele and that still does not remove the actual danger of a volcanic eruption: ash and toxic vapors
@@zirzeus2645 Plus the Tapu are said to be super fickle, so there's no telling whether they would even help if something did happen
Lavender Town and Lavaridge Town: *are we a joke to you?*
Right? Lavender town is haunted in the canon lol
@@amirahmednur1631 Just means you're never alone, even if you're by yourself!
Lavender Town’s just a graveyard. And Lavaridge is near a volcano.
@@AmiaN25 Lavaridge also probably has a lot of volcanic ash.
To be honest id prefer living in lavender in lavaridge your lungs fuckin fossilise
2 things we learned today:
1. Mike likes his sunlight
2. Mike doesn't want to get eaten by a frozen dragon
If you haven’t already you should do the best places to live, at least in your opinion. I feel like there would be a ton to choose from :) mine personally would probably be
Kanto: Viridian, Cerulean, Saffron, Celadon
Johto: Goldenrod 100%
Hoenn: Mauville (I actually love the ORAS apt design)
Sinnoh: Sunyshore, Hearthome
Unova: NACRENE, castelia, nimbasa, black opelucid
Kalos: anistar, cyllage, snowbelle (ik you hate it but I LOVE cold)
Alola: literally almost anywhere except for the ones you mentioned. I think Maile would be my favorite or Royal Ave.
Galar: ballonlea (it’s pretty idc), melony’s town can’t remember what it’s called, the town with the rose bowl forgot that too
Paldea: mesagoza is so cool so probably there
I always saw Po town as an abandoned town that nobody was living in, so the people in team skull who were obviously doing it rough all moved in as a giant family. There are pretty much only two competent people in the whole organisation, so I can’t imagine them being able to take over an entire populated town without the intervention of the police.
You have a point, but it's also specifically stated that the police do not care what happens there. Nanu tells you outright that if you die, you die, and he's not going in for your body. Of course, we know Team Skull is pretty harmless, but we play as immigrants from Kanto, an arguably more dangerous region. Our trainer is never afraid of them.
@@siaskies1704 This. Nanu: "Can get pretty rough here at night."
Player: *Shows Kanto ID.*
2 hours later Player is sitting in Guzma's chair.
2 days later Player defeats Necroma.
3 days later Player is first Alolan champion.
Yes, the average Team Skull member is incompetent, but they still have Pokémon. I can actually see then shunting unarmed civilians out of this town.
@@gengarzilla1685 yea but most average citizens in the pokemon world also have pokemon, they're just not trainers. they have them as pets, but they would still know some moves
team skull didn't force anyone out po town was abandoned BEFORE they moved in
“What if I’m not a trainer? What if I’m an accountant?”
Me: *sweats in assets and liabilities*
One place I would love to live is Pokétopia in Pokémon Battle Revolution. It could be a bit loud with the announcer all the time but hey, a big city full of all sorts of Pokémon themed buildings is neat.
Mi(c)key always finds a way to make the sponsor segments so funny to watch
