Most people are NOT complaining about noise from mixer. We can just turn down sound. Perhaps do not listen to people who just want to cause trouble and strife. Find your happiness in what you do with no worry. Be well, stay safe. Hugs. Thanks to you all for making and sharing fun videos! ❤❤😊
Regarding the 'murdering of eggs' - ha ha, Carlos, you never fail to show how you can feel irritation and love, at the same time, for Arne's treasured cooking help! Love you two, you are a match made in heaven, to spread fun and creativity!! 💖🎉🙋💖🏠🌲
Every single baking session with the two of you is hilarious. They are so enjoyable, and even I can’t get a slice of your cake, it’s still such a treat! As someone who have baked hundreds of bløtkaker throughout my years, I must admit I was a bit worried that the sponge would deflate, and I was stoked when it didn’t! I didn’t think there was enough air whipped into the eggs, and sukkerbrød is usually put into a cold oven, not preheated. But I’ve never wanted so much to be proved wrong, and boys, that you did! The cake looked so yummy, and there can never be too many strawberries! Oh btw, Victoria sponge have butter in the batter, so it’s a bit more what we call formkake. The question of greasing the sides of the spring form/tin or not: I remember Ingrid Espelid (Norway’s Julia Child) wanted to look into this, and she baked one cake with greased sides, and one without. Result? No difference what so ever. But the myth lives on. However, if you use butter, also dust it with flour. It’ll make sure the cake slides right out of the spring form. .
Yes! We also buttered, aka "greased," the inside of any cake pan, then lightly floured it. Although we never used parchment paper, our cakes always came clean out of the pan. I love seeing/learning how other people/places bake and cook. 🥰
Your cooking segments are by far my favorite. I would bet if you had more of them your subscriber base would triple! When I need something to cheer me up I rewatch your gingerbread house construction videos. Keep doing what you do. And whoever said not to use blender to mix I would put them on ignore! Insanity! Tell them to mute when you are using it. Your guys are the best💕
Want to try this! My Mom's side has Norwegian ancestry...this makes me feel at home❤❤Thank you both for doing authentic Norwegian Homecraft and cooking. Love you so much ❤❤
I just picked up a little Portugese bowl from the op shop. Apparently, the Portugese produce really good pottery. It's only plain, but handy. Your cake stand is lovely. Looks nice and sunny outside - you must be dying to get out. I don't see why you shouldn't take the cake outside to cool other than bird and rodent attack. The windowsill should do nicely. I can see that you all bully Carlos - tut, tut! Carlos is a perfectionist, like me! My dogs love the compost heap! Hang on, is that snow? Are you snowing now? The cake looks delicious. ❤ 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
😂😂😂 Oh, what fun!😂😂😂 And yes, Arne, I also remember my mum and Granny always making this cake whithout the baking sheet. Come to think of it, I don't think they had proper baking sheets back then. I was taught that you are not to put butter on the sides of the mold as that prevents the sponge from "getting a grip" when raising.
Arne is the best baker! Love the stories from your childhood Arne. The recipe was expertly measured and executed Carlos. Love the crockery. Another winning episode. 🎉
I learned something new by watching UA-cam videos. Norway "Bløtkake". It's similar to strawberry cake in Korea(K-FOOD). Today will make you want to eat strawberry cake. Cheer for the video and have a good day.
So fun that your baking adventure reminds Arne of his growing up years! Milking cows, cake in the basement kitchen storage and the consistency of the whipped cream being like sticky snow❤. Beautiful cake redeems you 2 from the Dolly Parton cake💞💞
You gents are such comic awesomeness! "Egg murder" kills me, and the parchment paper issue! Arne, I still always lick my beaters, so no shame! Thank you for sharing!
In uk its called Beating the eggs & sugar😊to line a tin, you first make an oblong of baking paper & trim long edge so it looks like a fringe, place insde sides of tin with fringe spread on bottom then cut 2 circles same size of base & lay them over fringe. Thats how we have lined cake tins in uk for many years. Love this epesode.
That’s not too many strawberries! We have Strawberry Shortcake here in the states. It’s a small cake, about 3-4 inches across and 1-2 inches tall, topped with whipped cream, then covered with strawberries. I’m not a baker so I buy little cakes, but I can whip cream. Yum! And that hand mixer is not too loud! My grandma could whip cream by hand faster than I could track down the mixer and plug it in. 😂 most of the rest of us need a mixer. Thanks so much to your friend Kate for introducing us. Jan from Oklahoma
thank for the joy and the cake! a trick from my Granny: don’t cut your cake layers with a knife! just cut a little line with a small knife around, lay a strong sewing thread around the cake, cross the thread ends at the front, take a breath and pull the ends to different sides! try it, it’s fun! I have a strong thread with the ends knotted around some bottle corks in my kitchen drawer just for this!
Great episode, great cake. I love the idea of mixing the jam and cream. I also love how Arne likes to lick the spoons. When I want to split a cake, I use sewing thread. Just wrap it round the edge and pull it together. Works perfectly every time. Thank you.
I'm so excited you did a bløtkake episode. It looks beautiful and delicious. I love my immersion blender. Yours isn't loud. I love the old story of the family cakes.
I enjoyed watching…. I’m an experienced baker….and I like to garnish with berries and some mint leaves . Also some shaved dark chocolate nice too with raspberries
Arne and Carlos, your cake looks absolutely scrumptious! 🤗 It is always so much fun to watch you cook together, murdered eggs and all!! I'm sorry that you have had some grumpy people commenting....I saw some saucy shenanigans happening here today, Keep it up! You're real and fun...which is why most of us love you so much!!! You can have your cake and eat it too!!!!💖
Looks good ….. In Italian 🎉we call this Cassata 🍰 Cake… it’s a famous wedding cake 🎂… Sometimes family’s use currants , & strawberry’s, & they make a pudding mixture for the layers… sprinkling almond halves . I grew up watching Momma make this, & plenty of homemade dishes, ravioli , polenta ( with my dads famous rabbit red sauce) , lasagna… the list is ling… now I’m hungry 😋 It’s Bellissimo 🌹🌹
Hi guys- cake looks fabulous! While I find all your videos enjoyable/ informative / fun---the cake- baking is among my favorites ! They are a riot! Going to check out recipe . xx
So Happy to see you both . Been watching your cooking reruns this morning. Really enjoy watching them. Especially the ginger bread one 😄 Cake is beautiful looks delicious. Love strawberries. Arne is right the hand mixer makes more noise . Electric one find . I dont mind either one . After all its a cooking show . Sorry but you just cant make everyone happy. . Love you all looking forward for some new cooking shows . Any of your videos is a joy to watch . 💙👍💙
Yup more cream more strawberries! Love to see Arnés mother’s recipe. Arne love your taste testing of utensils! Nothing turns out right with out taste testing. Carlos nothing can be good with out the proper following of directions! What a great team!
Thank you for your fresh and inspiring content. My Grandmother had Norwegian heritage and she too loved crochet, knitting and baking. We are more alike than different.
You both are hilarious baking. This looks delicious and easy. Next time, place the pan on the paper and draw a circle around the pan, then cut out the circle and place it on the bottom of the inside of the pan. ❤
Lovely cake! I have always just cut out a circle of baking paper for the base of the pan and then cut a long strip the depth of the pan, long enough to go all around the pan. That way you don't get a "wrinkly" cake!
I have just recently subscribed to your channel..I do quilting and embroidery. But my maternal grandparents were from Rodoy, Norway. My grandmother made rollepolse, Fateman (spelling not sure) cookies and bay leaf tea for Christmas. They were so good. I enjoy your channel.
Whip cream trick. Place a metal bowl, the beater and the cream in the freezer for a while. It whips much faster. And use a whisk instead of the egg beater. Looks delicious. I can almost smell it! 😊❤
I have not seen those kinds of hand held beaters for 40 years.🤣 Just use the electric blender ! I have a small mixer it is hand held. The cake looked very good especially with all that whipped cream and strawberries. You know we also grease and flour the tins to keep them from sticking only use baking paper on the bottom as you remembered and there are a million videos on how to make them yourself.😁😍 Thanks guys for the entertaining video and it made me crave cake now !
Absolutely hysterical! You two are so funny together! Just a suggestion on the egg cracking. It is best to crack the egg on a flat surface, instead of the edge of a bowl or the scary knife method. The flat surface cracks the shell without pushing shell into the egg inside. You're less likely to get shell or contamination or break the yolk. Just a thought. Definitely going to try this cake!! Happy vacation to you both!😍
We use the parchment paper in our pans for cakes. Helps with removing the cake from the pan. Sometimes like how you did it up the sides, but also just on the bottom. You can just put the bottom then a ring around the outside.
Love your cake and your chemistry in the kitchen. I bake a very similar sponge cake too. I haven't baked in a while, but you have inspired me to bake again, and I'll be making your recipe!!
Whisk eggs and sugar until you can ‘draw’ a figure 8 - Carlos, you did this with the tiramisu. Please remember to add a pinch of salt and 5ml vanilla extract. Cut a circle of baking paper the same size as the base of the cake pan. Love your videos, the cooking ones are very funny!
Mmmmmmh, the cake looks amazing! It seems like there are a lot of people out there trying to tell you what to do and what not to do. I hope you don't give up!
Actually the E's aren't allways that bad. But I think it is allways a good thing to know how to make things by yourself and also make things from scratch. And also it is a very nice thing to know what exactly is in the things we eat. More knowledge means better decisionmaking 😊 A very nice Video as allways. It's allways fun to learn about another Culture and see how many simmilarities there are.☺️ Greetings and best wishes from germany😊

You have inspired me to make this for my upcoming birthday party 😊 And dear dear Carlos, we don't hate your blender because of the noise, it's just te wrong tool, you try to get air into cream by cutting it... You need to beat the air in with a whisk (electric or not does not matter). And can I suggest watching Claire Saffitz here on UA-cam? She will teach you so much ❤
The Norwegian milk containers are legendary. The design on them is such a Norwegian thing. I used to love it as a kid. Nowhere else have I seen such beautifully designed milk containers. And then my grandpa killed the eggs the Arne-way. :) (That's the only correct way to do it in my opinion.;)) Maybe that's also Norwegian. ... And what's also Nowegian is funny cartoons printed on toilet paper you can read on the "utedo" but now I am getting carried away. Back to cake baking... :)
Your bløtkake looked great. I used to make them to take to work. If you have problems slicing the layers you could put it in the freezer for a while to make it easier to slice. I often put a layer of raspberry jam with whipped cream on top between the layers. If strawberries are not available, you can also decorate with raspberries and blueberries. It's an old standard and easy to make. Thanks for sharing.
What a great cake episode! I just started watching the Great British Baking Show (I'm late to the party) -- a month or two ago I wouldn't have known what you were talking about! My daughter is a tremendous baker (she was almost on the kids bakeoff show when she was younger, but was too shy), and just made peach macarons with cream and poached peach filling -- amazing.
Such fun!! A suggestion - when making the whipped cream, make sure the cream, bowl and beaters are cold - it will whip up much higher and lighter. That being said, your blotkake looks delicious. Victoria sponge is one of my favorites. I so enjoy spending time with you both in the kitchen.
If you were mixing just egg whites and sugar it would be meringue but I think egg and sugar its called yellow cream perhaps. Absolutely great show, keep it up!
Perhaps the cakes were bigger when you were a child Arne, because you can lick more mixture off the spoon and out of the bowl now you are an adult. More mixture in Arne, less in the oven = smaller cake. ❤ thats why all the extra topping is needed, to make up for the missing mixture. 😂 I am so like you in the kitchen, and it is so much fun.
So fun to watch your cake making today. I love your aprons - I had both cars in my life. The Bug was handed down from my parents and the Vanagon I bought when I had kids. (That milk carton was very unique - it could be a coloring book). I'm glad you sliced into 3 sections. So Beautiful - I wish I was there to share a really big slice with you both. So fun.
Most people are NOT complaining about noise from mixer. We can just turn down sound. Perhaps do not listen to people who just want to cause trouble and strife. Find your happiness in what you do with no worry. Be well, stay safe. Hugs. Thanks to you all for making and sharing fun videos! ❤❤😊
❤️
I prefer a hand held mixture. Those of us who truly appreciate you don't care what you do. 🎉
Regarding the 'murdering of eggs' - ha ha, Carlos, you never fail to show how you can feel irritation and love, at the same time, for Arne's treasured cooking help!

Another hilarious and fun cooking episode… You two are the most adorable chefs!😂
I try to make everything you two make, this is next and I think it will be wonderful. Can't beat Arne and Carlos for great recipes and entertainment.
We hope you like it!
Oh myyyyyyyy..... I’m salivating!!!,😋😋😋😋 that looks delicious, I’m with Arne!, lots of strawberries 👏👏👏
❤️❤️
"See, I never eat on camera," says Arne with a mouth full of cream, leaning over the sink!! Oh, how I love these cooking episodes! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
😂❤️
Too fun. Next time pls put recipe on episode. These videos, on any subject lighten my heart.❤

Same here in Germany. And I use bigger cake forms as well. I am definitely team Arne here.😉

It's a beautiful cake! The strawberries look delicious on it. I would love to try making this one.
Arne is the best baker! Love the stories from your childhood Arne. The recipe was expertly measured and executed Carlos. Love the crockery. Another winning episode. 🎉
Carlos, I love the way you are always conscious of the ingredients. Arne, I also love to lick the spoons. I would love to try this cake.

I think all of us should pitch in and get these two a Cuisinart for Christmas!
Great episode, great cake. I love the idea of mixing the jam and cream. I also love how Arne likes to lick the spoons.
When I want to split a cake, I use sewing thread. Just wrap it round the edge and pull it together. Works perfectly every time.
Thank you.
PS I absolutely agree with you that making cakes (and other dishes) from scratch is the best. I've never used a packet mix.
Thank you for the sewing thread advice

Another great baking episode! You should definitely use the electric one, it makes less noise than the other and SO much easier and faster.
😋 that cake looks so scrumptious.
I usually add vanilla extract to my cake mix, and put jam in between first layers and cream in second layer.
Yup more cream more strawberries! Love to see Arnés mother’s recipe. Arne love your taste testing of utensils! Nothing turns out right with out taste testing. Carlos nothing can be good with out the proper following of directions! What a great team!
Always more!
I am so happy to see you baking again
Thank you for your fresh and inspiring content. My Grandmother had Norwegian heritage and she too loved crochet, knitting and baking. We are more alike than different.
Another great baking episode. You both did a great job!
Arne turning his back and licking the bowl and spoon is so very funny! Just like we do at home -over the sink!
Always!
I love your aprons! I noticed them immediately!!!
I absolutely ❤watching you fellows bake! I enjoy the mix of your personalities.
You both are hilarious baking. This looks delicious and easy. Next time, place the pan on the paper and draw a circle around the pan, then cut out the circle and place it on the bottom of the inside of the pan. ❤
Thank you!
Another great episode Boys.
Lovely cake! I have always just cut out a circle of baking paper for the base of the pan and then cut a long strip the depth of the pan, long enough to go all around the pan. That way you don't get a "wrinkly" cake!
Haircuts look nice! Yummy
Always love your cooking sessions, very entertaining!
Thank you
The ceramic are beautiful, especially the cantaloupe bowls.
Nature is so inspiring.
Yummm! Beautiful! Lots of fun and came out wonderfully! Thank you all for making and sharing this video!❤❤😊
Thank you so much for watching!
Lovely episode - you're both pure light
Thank you so much!
Bløtkake is the best! It beats a mix any day! Good job boys! Yum!!
Whip cream trick. Place a metal bowl, the beater and the cream in the freezer for a while. It whips much faster. And use a whisk instead of the egg beater. Looks delicious. I can almost smell it! 😊❤
Your making my mouth water with that beautiful cake, I agree with Arne more strawberries is always better
I have not seen those kinds of hand held beaters for 40 years.🤣 Just use the electric blender ! I have a small mixer it is hand held. You guys are so much fun!!! 😊❤
It looks delicious! And you should use whatever equipment you want to-your immersion blender isn’t too noisy!
Thank you and happy baking!
LOL ... oh Arne! I would be doing the tasting, too!
👍🏻
Mmmmmmh, the cake looks amazing!

Another cooking episode where I giggled so much. The cake looked amazing and very yummy 😋

Your cake looks delicious. You really outdid yourselves with the strawberries!
Love your new aprons! Love it when Arne goes cream crazy!!
Strawberry Shortcake -- YUM! 🍓🍓🍓
You two are a hoot! Thanks for sharing.
You have inspired me to make this for my upcoming birthday party 😊
And dear dear Carlos, we don't hate your blender because of the noise, it's just te wrong tool, you try to get air into cream by cutting it... I agree with LOTS of strawberries!
What a great cake episode! I just started watching the Great British Baking Show (I'm late to the party) -- a month or two ago I wouldn't have known what you were talking about! That is an amazing show, you are in for a treat!
Good job gents.
Such fun!! A suggestion - when making the whipped cream, make sure the cream, bowl and beaters are cold - it will whip up much higher and lighter. That being said, your blotkake looks delicious. Victoria sponge is one of my favorites. I so enjoy spending time with you both in the kitchen.

Another wonderful visit
You guys are great
Love it I did
Love those VW aprons! 😍
The Eggs and sugar, when you whisk it 'white' is called a Ruban in French and is very classic in Pastry
I love your new aprons!
Thank you!
Looks scrumptious! I agree, homemade is always better than something made in a factory and stored in a can.
If you were mixing just egg whites and sugar it would be meringue but I think egg and sugar its called yellow cream perhaps. Absolutely great show, keep it up!

You both make me laugh. The cake looks delicious.
