Hi Everyone! We are glad we decided to send this episode unedited. Such fun! For all who are asking, we have done some research and it looks like buttermilk is indeed the equivalent to Norwegian sour milk
Oh my sweet Jesus - this was the funniest cooking-video I have ever seen. Arne, you are precious. I am sure I speak for all of us folloers when i say WE 💖 YOU.
I laughed so much watching this. Blended nuts, screaming pears, peeling coconuts... Arne is so funny, especially early in the morning looks like. You guys should do more cooking videos. Now I know why the video is 42 minutes.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know Arne is in trouble when Carlos starts speaking Norwegian to him. You are both so funny!! Thank you for your wonderful videos. They make me laugh out loud and bring me joy.
When I first started watching you, I thought Arne was so shy and quiet. He hardly spoke. The more I watch, the more I see the wicked sense of humour he has! Arne, I love you! You make me laugh!!
The drama! I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Arne's verdict on the cold porridge - Will He Like it or Not?? Meanwhile, you two are hilarious first thing in the morning: "that's a bread knife!" .... "I don't think the pear knows the difference." "I might finish your knitting before you finish those pears.""I seriously hope you didn't cough on my pears." 🤣🤣 So glad you didn't edit all that out. This was a great start to a Sunday, and of course I had porridge for breakfast in your honour - with cashew butter, apples & ginger.
I laughed so much through this video at your conversation. Then Arne sneaks back and eats what he really wants. Hilarious! I think quarantine has made everyone a little loopy. We have to have little treats and find joy in the simple things so enjoy your croissants once in a while.
Thank you both so much, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Quite unwittingly it was comedy gold. My own porridge went cold this morning as I couldn't stop laughing while I was trying to eat it and watch this episode at the same time. Carlos...you have the patience of a saint. But Arne...I love your quiet, subversive nature in making the breakfast you wanted all along. 🤣🤣🤣
Just when I thought he had converted....I love the excitment of porridge gate. I laughed and laughed particularly at the end. Thank you for being yourselves and sharing this saga. Take care.
Please, Arne, never apologize for your mastery of English. I have lived in 5 different countries and still can speak only English. Thankfully, my adult children speak two-three languages. Be proud of your English. Your English is fine; you are improving in every video. You are delightful and charming. 💕
Oh my gosh, I’m still laughing! This episode ranks up there as one of my favorites. You both oftentimes are funny without even trying - that’s what makes watching you so enjoyable. I’ll never make oatmeal/porridge again without thinking of you two! Lastly, please know that we truly appreciate you opening your home to us and letting us see how life is for you in Norway. I’ve learned so much. Thanks! ❤️
As a child my mother had to eat oatmeal porridge every morning. She hatet it and swore that her children never had to eat it and..we never did. At school (very modern) we had cooking lessons once a week. Just learning to cook basic stuff and one of the basic stuff we had to learn was making oatmeal porridge. I loved it and my mother was in shock!
I would give this 100 👍🏻 if I could! I’m so glad that you didn’t edit this video, Arne is so funny, I laughed so much when he was chopping the pears 🔪🍐 I hope that Carlos is getting stronger in the rehabilitation hospital. Best wishes from Wales 🏴
Giving the simple and beautiful gift of yourselves, each week, It is an honor to receive such a precious gift. My gratitude to all three of you and anyone else backstage besides your inspired cameraman.
This is hilarious! "Did you cough on the pears?" Brilliant! And Arne laughing so much, and no, he didn't cough on the pears....! This is SO entertaining. And Carlos speaking in native tongue because he couldn't believe what he was being part of! I love you two. 💖💖
“Did you cough on the pears?!?!” 😂 Arne we know you didn’t!! I laughed the most when Arne was laughing and said “oh I thought you liked it” when Carlos was just trying to not burn his mouth.
What an hilarious episode, I’m literally crying 😂😂. Wednesday and Sunday times spent watching you two are just so special. Arne, you’re so funny and just like a naughty little boy sometimes ...... just love you for it ❤️❤️ Carlos, love you too ❤️❤️ and thanks for some new breakfast ideas, will have to try them xx
Hilarious! So loved this episode and what a cliffhanger!! Will Porridgegate ever be resolved? The tension!! You could cut it with a bread knife.... Thank you so much for brightening our lives xx
You two are hilarious! I love the banter. That mattered so much more than the porridge to be honest, interesting though that was. Arne is a natural comedian always and it is so good to see Carlos a little more off guard, shall we say, and showing more of that side of himself. This is one of your best videos ever! Thank you so much. This is one I shall come back to again and again, I am sure!
This is an amazing episode and I enjoyed myself watching Arne acting funny. The best part was Arne's real breakfast eaten stealthily. Carlos, you are so meticulous in your work! I am going to try the warm porridge with pears in salted caramel sauce. Thanks for the recipe.
Arne, you say yr “bad” with cooking but outstanding with knitting!YES-Arne, you’ll learn for you ! And us will be help for you - or ?? - great to learn!
Oh my gosh, I’m hooked. Did I just watch 45 minutes of oatmeal porridge? I only like porridge warm so I’m with Arne. I also don’t like the slipperiness of pears but will tempt the Carmel pear deliciousness. Yes I find porridge becomes almost a desert sometimes when I am finished. 😂 I know this videos are from some time ago, but i they are still relevant and the whole world should take the time to see them. ❤
Absolutely hilarious. You two are priceless. Arne you are so funny, brilliant sense of humour and all the while Carlos being grumpy and telling Arne off for coughing on the pears and Arne just giggles through it all. I've got tears pouring down my cheeks watching you two. How come Eric can keep the camera so still? Is he not laughing his head off? And how do you get him to come round to your house so early when Carlos is so grumpy!! Please don't stop doing what you're doing. You're a ray of sunshine in my days xxx
Did you cough on the pears ?!? Hilarious ! This really put a smile on my face watching you two characters ! And then Arne gets his “real breakfast” like I’ve said in the past, you’re both adorable.
We absolutely loved this episode, and so glad you didn't edit out all the "good" parts. My Norwegian father liked bread with milk. Laughed a lot, and enjoyed it all.
This was so funny and I also felt very sorry for poor Arne. He was given the cold porridge he hated whilst Carlos and Eric had the delicious hot porridge he liked. You are so lovely Arne, showing good humour no matter what. I hope if you have to eat porridge that you get the lovely hot one. We love you both 😘😘🦉
Fantastic. My husband and I sit and watch you at lunchtime together and we both cry with laughter at the comedy duo that is Arne and Carlos. You guys are so cute together and we really look forward to your videos. Much love from the UK XXXX
Guys I would never have thought that making porridge could be so hilariously funny. I have laughed and laughed so much. Thank you for such an honest podcast. Arne you may not be able to peel pears very well but you have a fantastic sense of humour. Carlos I love your vegan porridge. Yum! Thank you guys for a good 40 minutes. Lol Jacqui UK.
This was just the tonic I needed this morning ! I was feeling a bit blue so I watched the episode on making tinsel and am busy making that while I watched . Thank you for cheering me up ! I vote for the warm porridge for me...lol have a wonderful Sunday, see you Wed...
This was the best cooking video I have ever seen. I laughed so hard! Arne you crack me up and poor Carlos was trying so hard to get it all done! The two of you are relationship goals! Your love and respect for each other shines through in all your videos!
Arne, you have the patience of a saint. Always happy and smiling. It seems in the kitchen, no matter what you do, there is a criticism. Stay strong my sweet friend. Your personality is why I watch. You try so hard to help. Keep that smile coming.😍. Your easy going attitude is a breath of fresh air.
This was absolutle hilarious!! You guys are brilliant, love the bickering about the pear-cutting/coughing. I loved every minute of this PorridgeGate episode x
Loved this episode. It made me laugh and we all need some humour in our day. You could tell Erik was laughing when you said something in Norwegian! I like your kitchen too! Take care from the Land of Maple Syrup..Canada...mmmm ❤️ 🇨🇦
I love your tutorials but after this more cooking videos please. Never knew making porridge could be so much fun. Cried with laughter. Carlos your face is so funny when Arne starts to laugh and especially cough!!!! Best ever.
Wow what a wonderful video. You two are hilarious. A perfect double act. Carlos you are so often like a strict father but with a very very soft Centre and Arne is like the naughty child. It makes me laugh out loud and your videos make me so happy. I never watch any cooking programmes, so this was rather novel for me and thoroughly entertaining. Please don’t ever stop doing these videos. Thank you Love from Marina in England ❤️🎄💐😂☕️😍🍰🌷🥞💐❤️🥰🍜🥬🍌🍓🥨🍒🥥🥑🎄❤️
Happy Sunday, Arne & Carlos! Hahahahaha... I didn’t realize that when I came up with the title “Porridge Gate” back in spring for your dilemmas over the breakfast ritual, that it would turn into this long-standing Saga in your household. I absolutely love Overnight Oats with berries & sliced almonds in the mornings. I make it a bit thicker rather than runny. ~sending you beautiful Florida sunshine your way~~
Oh my gosh, y'all are so funny. (That's plural for 'you' in Texas.) Thanks for sharing your humor, your tutorials on socks, and your beautiful home with the unbelievable views of the lake and outdoors! It really relaxes me in spite of what's going on in the world to spend a bit of time with you. Muchas gracias! ❤
Finally!!! This was so freaking hilarious! Jag också undrar ibland hur i helskottas länge det kan ta att göra någon "enkel" grej i köket... And then he comes with veggies cut in exactly identical pieces! I love it how Arne is giggling while Carlos is giving him "the eye"... You two are so adorable!!! :D
Thankyou gentlemen. I dont know if you realise how brilliant the two of you are. I have just watched porridgegate and sit and knit 8. Wonderful. You made me smile and laugh out loud a lot. Just what we need at the moment x
Absolutely fantastic video. Laugh out loud best bit at end when Arne did his breakfast. But the pear porridge is going on my breakfast list along with waffles and brown cheese
I did not see this till Monday, and you have had so many comments you are probably tired of reading them all, but I couldn't NOT tell you both how much I love your videos and how much I appreciate the two of you keeping me company in this insane time of COVID19. ❣️ I actually make the overnight oats in a similar manner, except that I am too lazy to make my own nut milk and just use purchased oat milk. I stir in a bit of almond butter, but that pecan butter looked amazing! I just slice up bananas, but loved the mashed idea, and also the addition of raspberries! I add a generous amount of cinnamon to mine, and also some chia seeds, and sometimes a dollop of plain Greek yogurt. You guys are so lucky to have one another! Thank you for sharing your lives with the rest of the world. You are a joy. 💕
This is the funniest episode of you guys. You made me laugh so much. I am like Arne cooking....not an expert and I enjoyed so much his sense of humour! Thanks for cheering me up!
I so love your kitchen, all the blue and white dishes on the shelves, the pictures of chickens and just the cozy feeling. You two are so funny, I laughed so hard about the pear situation. Arne , I will be watching to see if you get your curls back due to eating your porridge again. If the curls come back I will be eating lots of porridge. It is so refreshing to laugh like I did today. I will be trying your recipes. Thank you from the United States.
Oh my. I laughed so hard when Arne said " theres no space"..my fridge is the same...always full. Lol but this porridgegate is still a bit confusing to me....does Arne not like porridge? Or does he like just warm porridge? I'm certainly wondering now...hmmmmmm and Arne you are just hilarious....made my morning so fun today.
How 😆 I thought Arne had seen the light and was finally converted, for a few days a week at least, to having porridge. Loved the end...was quite worried that Carlos was going to come back and catch you Arne. Thanks for the laughs.🥣🥣🍗🍗
You had me laughing so hard. Thank you. This episode and one you did in the greenhouse a year or two ago - the one where you ask Arne to name 5 things he likes about you and has trouble at first and then can't stop himself- are my all-time favorites.
One of your funniest episodes, yet! It was great to see how you worked together in the kitchen... I laughed til I cried. Please do more cooking videos with no editing.
Just loved this video, Carlos, you an make me porridge any time, either the hot or the cold. I had porridge this morning but it never looked anywhere near as good as yours.
Hi Everyone! We are glad we decided to send this episode unedited. Such fun! For all who are asking, we have done some research and it looks like buttermilk is indeed the equivalent to Norwegian sour milk
I put my reply in the wrong place 🤦🏻♀️
No subtitles?!!!
Or yogurt per my Mom (Unni )
The buttermilk here is not that thick. Norwegian sourmilk looks like something inbetween buttermilk and yoghurt
In Spanish or at least in my home country we call it Leche Agria, which literally means sour milk 🥛
Oh my sweet Jesus - this was the funniest cooking-video I have ever seen. Arne, you are precious. I am sure I speak for all of us folloers when i say WE 💖 YOU.
Thank you!
I could barley contain myself! So funny!!
I totally agree. I am laughing my head off. BTY it is Mash the banana not Mush the banana. xx
❤ I always say mush, I l❤️ you both . I'm new and have starting watching ALL your videos ( from Rural Oklahoma USA
Too funny! Love it. You two are a hoot❣️
I laughed so much watching this. Blended nuts, screaming pears, peeling coconuts... Arne is so funny, especially early in the morning looks like. You guys should do more cooking videos. Now I know why the video is 42 minutes.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I never thought that watching two people make porridge would make me laugh out loud so much! 🤣😂 Thank you.

We agree 2 xx
I ABSOLUTELY love the both of you! EVERYTHING about the both of you. The dynamics between you is endearing. Don't change a thing!
We wont!
ARNE & CARLOS 🥰
I agree!
I felt so sorry for Arne: " Can I knit now?" Followed by such a hard NO and a very sad face. You guys made me laugh so hard. Thank you
Poor Arne.
Arne looking at the camera in close up as he holds up the sliced pears. The expression! Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!
The drama! I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Arne's verdict on the cold porridge - Will He Like it or Not?? Meanwhile, you two are hilarious first thing in the morning: "that's a bread knife!" .... "I don't think the pear knows the difference." This was a great start to a Sunday, and of course I had porridge for breakfast in your honour - with cashew butter, apples & ginger.
It was a wet your pants laughing breakfast.
@@kelliryan464 I had tears streaming when Carlos started grilling Arne about coughing on the pears. "Erik has it all on film...." oh my 😂😂
I don't think they know how funny they are.
😂
I also laughed so much about those dialogues. Without script! So funny:))))
I laughed so much through this video at your conversation. Then Arne sneaks back and eats what he really wants. Hilarious! I think quarantine has made everyone a little loopy. We have to have little treats and find joy in the simple things so enjoy your croissants once in a while.
Quarantine has made us all a bit loopy!
Just fabulous! Please more cooking episodes!❤️

I was so worried that Carlos was going to pop in at the end and catch Arne!!!! Too funny!!!!!!!!!!
😂
Me too 😮
Me too!
It’s hard to digest food when you have to eat it in secret.
Please, Arne, never apologize for your mastery of English. I have lived in 5 different countries and still can speak only English. Thankfully, my adult children speak two-three languages. Arne, you are so funny. "The pear doesn't know it's a bread knife!" ...LOL
Yes! I use a paring knife for everything and my partner is always trying to give me the big knife that looks like it belongs in a horror movie.
I would give this 100 👍🏻 if I could!
I’m so glad that you didn’t edit this video, Arne is so funny, I laughed so much when he was chopping the pears 🔪🍐

“Did you cough on the pears?!?!” 😂 Arne we know you didn’t!! I laughed the most when Arne was laughing and said “oh I thought you liked it” when Carlos was just trying to not burn his mouth.

I just kept thinking, Carlos is NOT a morning person. It was fun to see his uncensored and mildly grumpy side.

There is something about the sweetly ordinary that draws me into your videos, and lives every time. Thank you for that, right now when we all need it.

This is an ongoing dispute that started in our podcast series: Quarantine knitting.
I love oats and next time I make mine instead of pears and going to try green apples.. I laughed so hard at this episode..
That is a good one, maybe we have to revisit that one.
One of your funniest episodes, yet! It was great to see how you worked together in the kitchen... I laughed til I cried.

Just loved this video, Carlos, you an make me porridge any time, either the hot or the cold. I had porridge this morning but it never looked anywhere near as good as yours.
Thank you!
I don’t know when I have enjoyed a cooking show quite so much. You two are a great comedy team!
Oh Arne you are so funny, “blending all those nuts” sooo funny, he is nota fan of cold porridge.
You two are such fun. Really enjoyed your cookery school. Arne you are cutely hilarious!
