I love supermarkets in other countries! It is exciting to see so many Norwegian foods for the first time.
going to the grocery store while traveling is one of my favorite things too!!
I liked your recycling system for bottles and cans very much! I wish more countries incorporate something similar, it is most efficient! Thank you for a great episode, Arne and Carlos!❤
Hey Arne and Carlos, I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that one of your biggest fans and pattern purchasers(my mom) passed away on June 9th. She watched all of your videos and on occasion we watched some of your videos together, during her last days in hospice we rewatched your Dolly Parton cake making video. I just wanted to thank you for being yourselves and providing her comfort through your videos, She loved you guys a lot. Thanks again, Terri
Terri, I'm sorry to hear the sad news about your mother. Thank you for letting all of us know. Blessings to you at this difficult time. Regards,Vivian
Condoleances. ❤
So sorry for your loss. Many of us cherish watching Arne & Carlos. They are always there in past episodes and ongoing projects to cheer us up and keep us engaged in creative projects.❤
Hi Teri, we very sorry for your loss. ❤️ our condoleances.
Terri, sending you & your family, friends love in your grief.
What a fun shopping trip! Thanks for showing some of your favorites foods! What unique delicacies!!
When I travel, I love to go to the supermarket to see what is there. Even if I am traveling within the states (US) because in different parts of the country you can find very different products.
I LOVE to visit grocery stores in foreign countries! Also, the ethnic stores here in the USA. The different packaging, products, and smells. It's fascinating to me and such a fun, cultural experience! Thanks for taking us along! 🎉❤😊
I had to laugh when Arne picked up the handcuffs and held them behind Carlos!
😅😅
The handcuffs were very funny - Arne , you devil.
Now now remember this is a family show. 😂
Fun! One moment that had me giggling (okay, there were a few giggle-worthy moments). Carlos didn’t want the broken chocolate bar, and Arne tossing that same chocolate bar into the bag, and later needing to pack down the groceries in the bag to make more room. So, inquiring minds want to know … did Carlos’ chocolate bar make it home in one piece? lol
Thanks for the fun episode. Stay well everyone!
I was thinking the same thing 😂
I wondered the same.
I'm with Carlos on that - I always put the broken one back and get another :)
@@ruth1231 I do too! 😂
@@Kathleen. Ha ha. I don't know why but I always do. I'm sure I saw a very, very small smile on Arne's face when he packed the chocolate. It was fleeting but I'm sure it was there.
What a fun trip. Thank you. I am looking forward to seeing how you soften the wraps between damp towels and what you put inside of them.
Love this. I so enjoy seeing your life in Norway! It always reminds us of the similarities among us all. We are one. Thank you for all of your honest sharing! Blessings!!
Carlos, your narration makes this so interesting! So much fun to see what people eat in other countries!! Thanks to you both!
I love shopping in a new country! Thank you for sharing the things you love. The flowers are beautiful!
This was such a fun episode! LOVE the recycle machine ~ money to the Red Cross, money back or the LOTTERY chance! Wish we had these in the US ~ they are brilliant!
When the candy is broken, all the calories escape!
Carlos that beautiful bright plaid shirt is gorgeous on you! I live in Maine and look forward to these videos all week. So cute to drive up and Arne gets out of the beetle like a sports car driver. 😊🚗
Wow! This was so very interesting. Thank you! I live for Arne's head nods - they're like an exclamation point to what Carlos has said. 😀
Absolutely loved watching you both on your shopping trip. It really made me smile, Arne is so mischievous, and funny.
😍😍
Love the idea of contributing your bottle return money to the Red Cross! We need that here in USA- Mary.
Animal shelter to
I love going to supermarkets abroad to see what they have. Nice video. Thank you!
It is so interesting. I love their system for recycling plastic bottles, we need that machine in our supermarkets.
@@joquartobeans398 I agree - that machine is great! Such a good incentive and a bit of fun too.
I love outings into your “ local color” !!
What better way to see a place is visiting with the locals! Interesting yummy looking food. Tubed foods are intriguing . Reminds me of astronauts food. Thanks for the trip ! ❤xx
Marilyn
LOL I always hit like because I know it's going to be a wonderful video!!
Same!
Me too !!!
Me too. I LIKE and then watch😎
Please take us shopping with you every time you go! That was fascinating!! Thank you!
Such a lovely episode! Always very interesting when you show little bits of your day to day life! 😍😍😍
👍🏻
Thank you for an interesting video. I really like the bottle recycling arrangement. I’m glad you got chocolate and flowers too. They are always on my shopping list too 😉
Lovely to see a bit of “everyday” Norway.
😍😍
@@ARNECARLOSI hope you inspire other content around the globe. Rural people anywhere with the bandwidth available and a soupçon of personality and warmth could do really well with a channel showing local sites and people mundane or exotic. I’d subscribe!
BTW my grand-puppy is named Freyja. I wish I could say it was because of your sweet poodle but it’s to commemorate my DIL’s first service dog, the late Thor. Freyja is part standard poodle, part Bernese Mtn Dog. A Bernedoodle.
you guys are so cute...lol. I love shopping in new places and "shopping" with you two was awesome... love that there is a well stocked flower/gardening centre right next door. Thank you for sharing this adventure...
I feel like A & C are my adorable 3rd & 4th sons.
Thankyou for taking us along. Civilized living.
Isn't it a bit propaganda-like, how we are told plastic shopping bags are bad for the environment but almost everything that comes packaged in a store is in plastic? I mean, yes! Plastic really is bad for the environment, but if we were worried, wouldn't we demand corporations find an alternative to all their plastic packaging?
Very true
It gets complicated when you’re liable for tampering (meds/food).
I wish that some of them would change their packaging. The plastic net bags that oranges come in look like something that would be pretty dangerous for fish, if they get in the water. I've been keeping the net part of the bags to to use inside something, like a blanket but it would be easier if they would just change their packaging.
I reused every plastic bag that came into my house because they were free. Now, in my part of Canada (BC) we don't get any of those plastic shopping bags anymore because they are illegal, so I have to buy kitchen catchers. I used to just have to buy the big garbage bags.
If everyone else had been reusing those bags too then maybe they would have noticed that actually they do break down over time. This whole thing about plastic shopping bags not breaking down is a myth. I used some to store things in and I kept having to replace them because they were breaking down.
I totally agree. This is why I don't buy fruits in the supermarket. I get it delivered by a fruit and vegetable company, no plastic and local.
Seeing supermarkets in different places is one of my favorite things. Thank you for this neat video
You are welcome!
Takk for showing this! I imagine from Arne’s grinning nods to people out of frame that the locals (lokals?) are amused by your global community anxious to experience your mountain community with you. It’s just a grocery store to them but the second I saw that you were going grocery shopping in rural-ish Norway I was DOWN! Lol I want to shop with Arne and learn about the stuff, how it’s different south from up north where he’s from, and teach some more English because he’s so good and is so comfortable.
When I’ve traveled it’s been the mundane local stuff-just how local people meet the same needs I meet back home in Oklahoma, just configured a little differently-that I love the most. The pride of requesting a product from a display case and the merchant understanding my language attempt is thrilling when “free ranging” away from the multilingual tourist areas. And it’s so fun to see the cultural context of the packaging of many products.
Hi, Arne is from the South of Norway, not the north. He was born at Lillehammer hospital and we live 1 hour west from his birthplace.
In Virginia,US are liquor stores are all controlled by the state! I always enjoy watching other supermarkets.
Thanks for the great little trip to the grocery store. Everyone needs a little chocolate treat. ❤
Well said☺️
Thanks gentlemen! It made me so homesick…. I’m very curious to see about the Lefse, as I always make my own every year at the holidays….. we Americans probably don’t eat it the same way, but it’s so tasty! I’m laughing about the pizza, as it seems to be favored the world over.
Oh I LOVE my tube delicacies! Sadly I have to find an IKEA or order them from Amazon to find the ones I like. I’m right with Carlos on then caviar….. the BEST way to eat it!
Love my Gjetoast….. I’ve eaten it my entire life due to. “Cow” allergy!
What no cloudberries?
I’m a fan of sit and knit for a bit. My grandmother’s family lived in Valdez. I aspire to visit Norway one day, but in the meantime, I love seeing the community. Thank you!
Such Fun ! Love the way you shop no stress. You know what you want an get it. It usually is not that simple for me 😊 Wish. Really enjoyed watching . Would love to watch you shop for outdoor flowers sometime too 😮❤
I enjoyed your video. My grandpa came from Norway and I'm always interested in things about Norway . I just discovered your channel and I am now subscribed. It was always my dream to come to Norway but I am now 82 and on oxygen and in a wheelchair when I leave my home so it's impossible to come so I will enjoy Norway through other people's lives. Thank you so much
Welcome to our cannel Judie!
So fascinating to see what is similar to our grocery stores and what is different! Thanks for sharing a bit of your country with us!
Thank you for watching!
The bottle lottery idea is genius and would never work here. Unless they got AI on the task of limiting it to one transaction per customer. Cruising around doing regular stuff but in a different country is one of my very favorite things, thanks A&C!
Yep! I said the same thing about the lottery option after I realized you got an entry for each "transaction" (ie bottle) if you choose to hit enter after. Can you imagine the lines we'd have here? Oy!
I love the pant machine, so good to see people that recycle and take seriously! Great of Norway not to sale or use plastic bags is wonderful. I hope people appreciate and learn how much Norway is doing and maybe make changes in America. Unfortunately USA still uses mass plastic grocery bags, and is so far behind on recycling. It's nice to see countries that do so good.
At least make & use a cloth grocery bag, all the seamstresses & knitters, crocheters, need to make sure and use their shopping bags not plastic.
Great fun to see the typical Norway shops, how beautiful and the products.
Thank you, enjoy your show.
I was amazed when you drove up to a Circle K gas station! It could have been anywhere here in the US. I thought you were kidding us at first and it wasn’t Norway, but I loved going shopping with you in the Supermarket.
This was awesome!!! Thanks Arne and Carlos!😃👏🏼🥰
So much joy in this episode! You always bring up my spirits when I need it. Thank you! ❤
Thank you for the tour, very enjoyable. I would be like Arne by the toys ☺️❤️🤗
My Norwegian grandma used to make Lefsa as a special treat! This brought back great memories! Thank you❤
I love shopping in foreign supermarkets, however must say I was very surprised at the amount of plastic packaged fruit in Norway! Quite an eye-opener!
That was such a fascinating episode! It was so interesting to see all the local foods and different products. After seeing all the "tube foods" I was so surprised to see an Australian brand of soft drink on the shelves from my home country. I also loved seeing the recycling machine and love the idea of the charity lotto. Thank you for sharing 💗💯😋
I had to smile when I saw the Vestlands lefse. Good memories from when I was little and many of the stores in small towns carried Scandinavian foods. Rekke ost, in the tube, was a favorite when I visited Norway. Tubes of the cheese were brought back with me and I was always stopped when going through customs. 😀 We can't get that cheese here, unfortunately. Gjetost is a must and still eat that on bread with a cup of tea or coffee. Thanks for sharing the visit to your grocery store and the good memories. Ha det... 🙃🙃
Ha det😍❤️
Love the small grocery with flower store next door and wine store too. Like no plastic bags and recycling plastic bottles to benefit Red Cross.
How fun! Thank you for the tour...I remember when alcohol sales were restricted and stores were closed on Sunday...an easier time...have a wonderful week...❤❤❤
Just now in our part of Scotland it’s the berry season I live on strawberry raspberry blackberry and shortly we have cherries... we do have cheese in a tube I’ve a question do you still eat an orange a day . I love going shopping with you can we do it again ❤
It was so fun to shop with you guys! Arne, my dad used to break up regular white bread and put it in a glass of what we call Buttermilk here and he ate it with a spoon. Our buttermilk has a sour taste, so is likely very similar or the same as yours in Norway. I remember it might have been an acquired taste, but really quite yummy. 😋 I have one brother who still carries on that tradition. 😌 I got my very first reusable grocery bag in Norway - that was in about 2007 or 2008. It's my absolutely favourite fabric bag (strong, quality fabric that's also very soft). I now use it to carry precious knitting projects in when I take something out to work on. It also holds my yarn beside me on the couch while I knit on something at home.🥰
That is one long lived grocery bag.
I love watching you two browsing the aisles! The pate is my fave. 😎
Love watching you shop. Great fun . Thank you
Very enjoyable! Thanks Arne & Carols. Hope you enjoyed your meal - incuding the choc bears.
Too cute! Shopping has never been more fun. Love you guys!!
How fun! You've confirmed once again that I could easily live in Norway! From arriving in your Beetle, to recycling your few bottles at the store(LOVE this and LOVE that you can choose to take the $$ or donate for a chance to win) Lefsa is something that Jen Geigley made on UA-cam from Iowa! I'd love to see your version! Thank you for your gastronomical supermarket tour
Norwegians are so thoughtful & kind to the environment. My country can learn much from Norway.
😍😍
Now, we are starving! So fun! Thank you both!
Bamse Mums!! My favorite! Thanks for the lovely walk down memory lane!!!
I love, love, love the brown cheese! Transports me right back to when i first visited Norway as a 3-year old.
😍
Thank you enjoyed our shopping trip to Spar! Food looks yummy! I’ve had loads of the chocolate that you gift I’ve even had all flavours you like Carlos including the caviar with cheese ! Umm lovely! Really really enjoyed! Thank you! Xx 😘
😍
What a lovely store. I love going to grocery stores in different countries. But it would take me all day to get groceries at your store with the flower shop and yarn so close! One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten was at an Italian pizzaria in Bergen. You're making me hungry with the potato dumplings and how lucky to have them frozen in your local store! Bestamor called them, kumla. My favoirite meal. Glad to see you using your own bags. I never go without them. We used ours in Norway before you got rid of them. Enjoyed the tour!
Kumla og kumle is also another name for them that is still used in Norway.
Oh Oh ! Arne forgot to get Carlos' favorite chocolate bar when he put back the broken one...I only saw one choc bar rung up lol; I hope you weren't too disappointed, Carlos ! That was fun to see your lovely grocery store/Post Office...but I especially liked the bottle return combination Lottery? Red Cross donation scheme, so Cool !!!
You guys are always a breath of fresh air ❤
Arne & Carlos are adorable & so talented.
I love love LOVE grocery shopping vids from any place I'm not from (which is USA)!
We still make Lefsa from my grandmother’s recipe every year for Christmas! We eat it with butter and brown sugar. Yum!
Shopping is fun, thanks for taking us along. The bottle machine was new to me. Beautiful flowers
Enjoyed this little field trip. ❤😊
I LOVED this video and I can't wait to show it to various members of my family! I can't thank you enough for showing us something we have all been wondering.....what do Norwegians eat? I am 1/4 Norwegian according to Ancestry and so now want to know more about Norway. I already watch you guy's videos for knitting, but this was SUCH a treat! Thank you, thank you.....I will show my family tonight!
You are welcome! And if you want to know more about Norwegian heritage, we have this series as well: ua-cam.com/play/PLElv_tSbHW3p2L6yQMcGJXTS8MbBSUzts.html&si=qWgHCNqyALiaI7iP. And these aswell ua-cam.com/play/PLElv_tSbHW3rUu-Baqz5HIDE0DGhHX_Db.html&si=cASdVd0KhVn7DKGC
That was a lot of fun! Thank you.
It's so nice to see you haven't seen you in so long glad you're back ❤ happy shopping 🛒 😊
Hi Kaye, we have been here all the time. Every Sunday at 18 CET. ☺️
Hi guys I enjoyed shopping with you today it was. Fun to see how you shop the flowers were pretty so enjoy your day and see you next week ❤
those dolls would look so cute with your mini christmas sweaters
Arne reminds me of my son and makes me laugh! Carlos reminds me of my brother. so I always feel at home with the two of them
Really fun and interesting video! Thanks Arne & Carlos !
You are welcome!
I really enjoyed this episode. I just love seeing everyday things in other countries. Thank you
what a beautiful supermarket - I wish we had a similar one in my town! It would make the dreaded trip much more enjoyable! I love the recycling initiative, too, and having fresh flowers next door is a great treat!
Thank you this was very enjoyable to see shopping in your country. The sweets look sooo good!
They are very tasty
How fun to see the potato dumplings in the store. We called them kumla. I was surprised that some people in the USA of Norwegian heritage did not make/know kumla. I figured out today they have different names depending on where you live in Norway. Brown cheese was so good. Also the strawberries we had in Norway were very tiny but the best flavor!
Loved seeing your shopping trip. My stepfather is German, and we live in Canada, so I am very familiar with all the lovely things that you can get in tubes...not to mention all the fish and cheeses. You have more of everything in the regular store, though. We have to go to a specialty store to get such a large selection.
The peachy, orange daisy flower is originally from South Africa and it is called Osteospermum.
Could we please go and see the yarn next time.
In the UK there is no yarn in supermarkets, very few yarn shops.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
So fun to see your grocery store.
Thank you for sharing some of Norways' special foods. Was interesting to see all the tube foods/ cheese. Love the chocolate bear candy.
The chocolate bears sound like the chocolate covered marshmallow Easter "eggs" we have in the U.S.
I loved this episode! Thank you!
I had fun going to the grocery store with you. Thank you!
Thank you for joining!
The look on Arne's face when he sees the shrimp is everything that's good about the world!
We can buy Norwegian "brown cheese," liver paste and lefse (and Jarlsberg!!) in the grocery store here, but I miss räkost and kaviar in a tube!
I loved brown cheese when in your country so yummy I couldn’t resist it. Great when hiking
That was a fun shopping trip. Arne is like a small child in a Lilly shop.
It is like a sweet treat
In Cincinnati, they have this huge store called Jungle Jim’s that features foods from all over the world! I can spend hours in there. Your tour reminded me of Jungle Jim’s because you find little corner stores that is focused only on one country. They have a florist as you enter and there is a liquor store somewhere. I just love looking at the interesting foods😊
My sons will be visiting Norway next week. I can now share some good information. Thank you!
You are welcome, hopefully they can bring some samples back for you too try!
What a fun shopping trip. That was so interesting to see the different types of foods available. I love the machine for the plastic bottles.
Thank you for taking us on your shopping trip. It was interesting and fun to see what is available in other countries.
Thank you for a brilliant episode. I look forward to the cooking videos you mentioned.
This was SO FUN and WONDERFUL! It was even better than I imagined Great to learn new things and interesting to see where our countries overlap ~ we'd for sure bump into each other in the frozen pizza section. Based on how much we all loved this one perhaps we should cross our fingers for a Christmas episode...
Really enjoyed seeing your grocery stores and seeing what you like to buy. Great idea to do this episode.
Oh Arne. You had me giggling at 17 minutes. Just like my grandchildren in a toy shop 😂
That was a fun shopping trip!
Thanks! A few things made this American's head explode: sour cream porridge!! Sour milk (is this yogurt?). Caviar in a tube! Wow, you've expanded our horizons in a delightful way. 🤩
Sour milk is similar to buttermilk or kefir.
Yay! The buggy is driving well.
👍🏻
This was so fun, thanks for sharing!
Great to see where you shop, I really enjoyed it!!! The only refrigerated tube item we have is herbs, my favorite is Basil because I can't seem to grow it
myself...Thanks so much. Love from NC, USA.
This was fun! I always check out local grocery stores when I travel.
