The attention to detail to editing alone makes it a pleasure to watch.
I could listen to your radio work for hours... actually I do. Helped a lot in recent nav ex. As always, thanks for your fabulous work!
This is awesome! Your radio communication and common mistakes were very useful for new pilots like me to learn!
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to produce it to such a good standard.
+BOLIPILOT1 my pleasure.
Thanks for sharing your flights!
+CharlieDelta pleasure. Thank k you for watching them.
Thanks for yet another fantastic fantastic video, always learn something new! great camera angles and quality sound, can't wait for the next one. Again thanks Jon
+Brian Tinkler thanks for watching Brian.
Another excellent video. I'm 42 hours into my ppl training and I learn so much from your videos. Thanks for continuing with them!
+jeff cowtan cheers Jeff.
Great video Jon; your honesty is always greatly appreciated and helps student pilots like me to understand how easy it is to overlook things in flight planning as well as witness how busy a PIC can get when flying somewhere new. Keep them coming!
Thanks for watching, and for the complimentary comment.
Excellent video Jon! Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you for watching and your continued support.
Most enjoyable, as always. Thanks!
+KEITHGEE1000 this was one of my favourite trips.
I love the camera angle and commentary on final. Great stuff.
+Rob S thanks!
Excellent video once again Jon.
+Stuart Bird cheers simon
now I'm not gonna begin to even pretend I know all the terminology (couple of bits at a guess) but there is just something so brilliant about watching this! love the scenery, love the almost regimental process of communicating and I love the commentary too. brilliant video! I shall be watching the others! thank you for a delightful insight!
+Chris Cole thanks Chris, that's very kind of you. I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Love that you post the error rather than not post it. Good pilots learn and move on. Keep the videos coming
+MagentaLineAviation cheers.
superb, looking forward to the return flight.
Thanks for watching.
Great stuff - love the honesty in your videos.
+JAWS Aviation thanks again.
Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm 33 hours into my PPL and heading towards solo nav soon so hearing the different radio calls is really useful revision!
+Max Batley thanks for watching Max. Good luck with the rest of your training.
Max Batley 😂😂 im only at 4 hours, I've still got a while to go!
Love it..nice job!
+Simon Woodward thanks Simon.
I enjoyed your flight. I like the real world feel of your VLOG. I even learned something. I have never used the mnemonic FREDA but it is a nice memory aid. Thanks for sharing!
+Flyboy63 that's great! Thanks.
I have quite recently subscribed to Air Safety Institute, watched a few accident case studies and the first 3-4 minutes of this video sounded like a recipe for a disaster, but thankfully it was just another informative (and great views) video with a smooth landing :)
Excellent. well done.
Thank you Mark.
Hi John. loved this video. I'm learning down at lydd and I pick up a lot of information from your videos. Thank you very much.
Thanks for watching James.
Great video Jon and I love your honesty, I start my training in a couple of weeks Jan 24 and I have it in my head that I’m never going to conquer talking to ATC, remembering what they say just seems so fast for it all to register.🤦♂️
learning a lot from your films...thanks very much.
Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed watching this,I will be watching more of your videos.
Thank you!
Another great video, hope you had a lovely day with your bro :)
+CKUKMale we had a nice time. Thanks.
Jon, it maybe worth trying Compton Abbas the next time where the landing fee is only £10 (that's assuming your brother can get to Compton of course). The food is also good there.
nice video, a lot of learning points for me.
Thanks for watching.
In my experience the SkyDemon PLOG is excellent if in doubt. Much more accurate than I could do with a chart.
That's probably true.
Great video as always Jon, looking forward to the return trip. Keep me posted of future trips and perhaps we can arrange a meet up.
+Jodel Flyer thanks. Definitely.
I believe 'robin traffic' was dad and I on our way to Cherbourg for lunch in G-TOUR.. Well done for spotting us,' it's only bright orange 😉
+Tommy Wade I saw you in good time haha! Nice an conspicuous!
Well done John..i could sense your stress level on that one....and inside you were probably saying "thank $@$/ for that " 😆
+Peter Bailey thanks for watching Peter.
Love the videos. I am a pilot in the US and I watch for differences in the UK traffic control systems. Here, once given a squawk I rarely am asked to change it other the off and on to 1200 when entering and leaving VFR. It seems like they check your squawks more often in the UK.
We don't have a very joined up system ATC for private pilot GA, so at every unit, you pretty much start afresh.
That explains it. Thanks for the reply and the videos
Hi, just recently found your videos. Find them really interesting. I have always wanted to learn to but have left it too late. I have flown in Cessna 172, 182, Piper Cherokees, Pilates Porter and a Sky Van but never landed in them as I would jump out at 3,500 ft. Usually at Sibson. Great video’s keep them coming. I now live near North Weald. If you ever plan to come up that way see you in the squadron club.
its never too late to learn!!!
Hi Jon great video as always shame I didn't get to meet you whilst you were down here! My friend was at the hold in blackadder 03 out of BCFT and showed him the video thought it was a great flight
Thanks James. I loved that callsign!
The Flying Reporter glad you liked it! It's pretty cool to learn to fly with that call sign but hard not to say it when using registration! My turn to come and visit you soon
The Flying Reporter glad you liked it! It's pretty cool to learn to fly with that call sign but hard not to say it when using registration! Hopefully coming to biggin hill soon
Thanks for this Jon. I did exactly this on my first attempt at the NPPL Nav Test, only I didn't catch it. Passed on the second attempt! Oops....
brilliant cam position to review the landing.
I agree. Really helps my post flight analysis.
hahahh check check check check ch ch ch changes turn and face ...... That was Brilliant XD
My first time on your flying UA-cam 👍
Nice video, can't wait for the sunset chase! :)
Thanks Nick.
I was born in Bournemouth 1946. Came to Canada 1947
Quick question, when your using skydemon are using using any specific aerial to connect it to your iPad or just using the iPad on its own? Really like your videos and enjoying venturing further myself getting more fields in the log book. Thanks..
+Simon Woodward I found the internal GPS receiver worked fine, but it now takes its position from the pilot aware gps signal, and this has been robust.
The tower controller threw me too! -
Hi
Always enjoy your videos.
I wonder if you have a moving vfr map on board. Would this decrease your workload.
Just watched your latest video in the 737 sim. I tried the same experience at Cambridge Airport a while back. Tried the innsbruck 8 approach
Stay well and wish you all the best
What a great video again! Like all of them! What program you use for your videos?? Is it Adobe? Cheers from EDHL
+Flying Dutchman adobe premiere. Thanks for watching.
awesome flight Jon and good landing. How are the new GoPro mounts holding up? :-) As always, I can't wait for the next video!
+TheMarkyShow thanks. I have some vibration that I'm trying to iron out.
i asked once, and i am going to ask again, i hope u could give us some tips.. about looking for traffic or how do you associate the message u hear from the radio, and Thinking in ur head . and what's ur action to those message u hear from radio. u know u can understand the radio is one thing, but associate those message is another thing... so can u please find one flight where u could explain ... please. thank youuu
oh my god~ i am SO SO SSO SO SO addicted to your video!!!! love the process of flying, love the angle and love the way you are showing us !!!!! it is almost like i am stalking u while u fly hahhahahahhahaha thank you thank youuuu for taking us to fly . i absolutely LOVE IT. sometimes u talk when u are flying, i totally feel like u are just taking us for a ride. absolutely AMAZING!!!! thank u
Great job - any reason you dont print your plog direct from skydemon - that should avoid gross error ?
I still enjoy the manual planning. I should really compare my figures with SD though.
As with all your vids - another great one.
One question though -I was always taught that the purpose of the 'clear prop' shout was to warn others around the aircraft about a prop start, in case of unknown proximity. So wouldn't it be better practice to leave a short pause before engaging starter to allow others to do something about the warning?
Thanks. The video is heavily edited.
The Flying Reporter Ah, I see that now. Keep up the good work - I've learned so much from them already.
Another interesting film thanks! What's the story with the cargo Britannia? Did you investigate? I remember there was one at Biggin in a sorry state in the 1970s. I think (you may correct me!) that it had been impounded for drug-running and was broken-up a few years later.
Wow, so complex compared with my flying here in New Zealand (usually avoiding controlled airspace; )
Our airspace is a little unusual!
Great video John. Your new pa28 has the same paint scheme as ours! Done in Dunkeswell? How do you find Pilot aware?
Nice! I think that's where ours was done. I'm still getting to grips with PAW. Nothing useful to say about it at the mo..
came across your channel from "cruising the cut" and really enjoying your flying reports.......subscribed! What on earth is the aircraft at 17mins just off the taxiway??
Sorry - I don't know!
The Flying Reporter
Found it online, it’s a 60s cargo aircraft called a Conroy CL44 Skymonster. Great name!
Agree..brilliant name.
Why turn off pitot heat?
Ah, yes, on 6.10, the (vavigation) mistake is noted. This 'feeling' of there's something not right!, is a good thing. Finding out why, is an other thing, it consumes time whilst the aircraft moves on. Anyone can make a mistake, it's part of being human (and to learn from it).
Hi John
What video editing software do you use?
Currently Adobe Premiere Pro for PC.
more gear sound please.
I can see my house in the thumbnail ahha
The commentary is quality
+Michael Miklos thanks Michael.
I wonder if you are now overdoing this: SkyDemon, DME, paper pilot log, and chart + landmarks as required for VFR. You seem pretty busy in the cockpit, managing all these navigation means.
+The Flying Reporter What is a gross error check?
+James Gibson a check to make sure you aren't planning to go, or aren't going in -completely the wrong direction.
Don’t worry. I am distantly related to “Wrong Way” Corrigan :-)
I remember "Wrong way Corrigan."
Was looking to go to Bournmouth - what were the charges? They keep giving me different quotes...
+Hugh Wells about £72 for landing and handling
And was that for a days parking? Seems similar to East Midlands
+Hugh Wells I was there 3 hours ish. They didn't charge me parking. I think they charge over 3 hours....can't remember exactly when the charge kicks in.
Wonderful example of why I could not pass ppl
