I bought 3 bottles of B12 for $50 apiece. A phenomenal buy. I also bought a KC 10 year rye for $65. IMO, the B12 is the best overall value between the 2, but KC10R is a buy all day. That said, Little Book 8 is the best heavy rye Whiskey I’ve had this year. It’s a masterclass in blending. JDBPR is excellent, but it cheats on flavor with high octane proof. JD SiB Rye 94 proof doesn’t stand up when you compare apples to apples. I’d like to see a 107 proof JD 10 year rye release. That would be a great idea for a special release. I had a shot at Triumph for $275, but I couldn’t do it. I’ve got to take a stand on Campari’s fleecing. I am actively hunting for a M10 rye at retail. Anyway, excellent review. Thank you!
Definitely agree with you on that heck of a buy on the Bulleit 12yr. I haven’t tried the little book 8 yet but I’ve been hearing good things. And yeah I’m not touching masters keep this year screw them and their pricing it’s outrageous
My initial pour of the Knob Creek 10 was a tad too minty for me. Luckily, that subsided and it was very good. I had one Jack Daniels store pick rye that I didn’t care for. It tasted like mint whiskey. I had to ask who picked it and was told Jack Daniel’s picked it for them. They should never let that happen.
That’s interesting I generally don’t get minty on ryes but the ones I avoid are the dill forward ones those are not my jam. And that’s very odd for JD especially since they usually go darker and sweeter on their profiles
Walked into my local Sam’s club to see this bad boy on the shelf for 58 dollars hairs. A steal!
What a dang steal grab two for that price
Glad you liked it BB. I really like the new Knob Creek Bourye. Vanilla, Caramel, Peanut Butter with a smooth, peppery finish. It is very good at 113 Proof. 🥃
I’m definitely looking forward to that one when I find it and thanks again for your generosity on the KC10 rye
Lesson learned: Own all of them!
Haha that’s right you found the real lesson hidden in their
Damn, a seven-bottle comparison video! You keep exceeding all expectations, Bill. Bravo! Now be honest...did you need assistance getting up from that chair? Lol.
I'm so glad you loved the KC10. If they dont screw things up by making this batchy, it will be in my top 2 rye shelfers along with Sagamore. It is just perfect for my palate and fairly priced. Cheers.
Haha Rita was in bed I had to make do on my own lol. And yeah KC12 can be batch dependent so I’m hoping they do better with these
Looking forward to trying the 10-year! Thank you for the review. I have the 2010 Cask Strength at 127 proof that takes the 2009 release up a couple notches in deeper, richer flavor. I have been waiting to find a 2011 release but have not seen one yet.
Yeah I was surprised I enjoyed the 10yr over the 2018 cask (2008) I didn’t know they did more than two of those ever cool to know
Cant wait for your rye blind tasting
Haha oh man I always love making those
That was a great review, thank you.
Guess I need to find on of the Knob Creek 10 year ryes!
Haha yeah it’s a solid bottle and one of the better ryes hopefully available in all areas soon as it trickles out
The 10 is great and will always be on my shelf. But that Old Overholt 10 year is amazing. Curious how the hughes belle of bedford 10 year compares.
I should have done that but this was a long video already lol. I’ll have to compare and let you know
Was out or town, went to get one. They said it was allocated and couldn't sell to Saturday but I wasn't around then. Its not around me so bought James Pepper cask strength. Boo missed out.
What a bunch of horsepucky. It’s not allocated lol maybe they wanted to safe guard that first shipment. This is one you should be able to get eventually
Welp. I guess I’m gonna need to pick this up now.
Yes you do make a stop in NJ
What's up Bourbon Bill. I enjoyed the video. Hope you and your family have a nice July4th
Thank you we will hope you and your family do as well
the mini is referred to as a Wee Glen.
It does say wee on the bottom but I like the word mini better
@@bourbonbill
who doesn't like a wee bottom.
!>)
Have you tried the Alberta cask strength? It’s on big sale right now at binnys and it’s a great rye
Yep it’s pretty good stuff that being said I’m not as much of a fan of Canadian ryes
Hey Bill!!! Could we possibly get a comparison between this and Black Velvet?
Haha there you are been waiting for a black velvet moment
@@bourbonbill hey buddy!! I’ve been way too busy for bourbon tube. 2024 has also seemed pretty lame for whiskey so far. This is one of the few products I have been interested in. Sounds like a banger. I’m really getting tired of the whole limited edition thing, but a 10 year old shelfer at a reasonable price?? Heck yes.
@@daven8905haha I’ll give you that it seems all the stuff I really wanted was allocated but knob creek stepped up with a killer shelf offering
Seeing it at total wines for 82 🦌 kinda steep
Dang they over charging which is normal for them maybe it will come down in price once more of it shows up
@@bourbonbillyeah bill I’ll wait in the meantime …. Have you tasted the fox and oden double oak ?
@@thecrazemenchannelno I haven’t had it it sounds like I would like it but haven’t seen one to get
First 😅. Cant wait to hear how it is
If you were to guess you would probably be right lol
@@bourbonbill so what your saying is its a buy? 🤣
No spoilers before the show begins lol but if you were inclined to drive over to Sagamore today it wouldn't be a bad choice
