They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣 LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Loved your reaction! Everyone is shocked when Chance hits that low note...and of course Tim in his high register! Chance was the bass in his previous group...Street Corner Symphony!
Everyone gets surprised. They forget they were told he has five octaves and uses all of them quite well. Tim sings in the tenor range for the whole song.
Tim actually started as a tenor. When I asked him before a concert any tips on singing base, he said "work on your tenor. Sing it. ALOT. Opens up your bass if you have it (which, I'm more of a baritone, can't get on Tim or Chance's level)."
For an acapella group to have both a basso profundo (with a five octave range) and a baritone bass (with a four octave range) who can both sing tenor when needed gives an extreme amount of versatility. Add in two tenors who also have pretty impressive ranges and a world-class beatboxer who (surprise, surprise) also has a range that extends from bass to tenor and there's really nothing they can't sing. The concentration of talent in this group is almost shocking.
That first blink upon hearing Tim here never gets old. If no one has answered the question - yes, this is in the original key. By now you know that Chance 'has the bass'; you should hear his new single that just came out or the cover of Wayfaring Stranger with Hound & Fox to appreciate his bass. The addition of Chance really freed Tim up to take higher parts.
Yes, it's in Cam's key... this group has at least four tenors, three basses (including Adam) and they can all beatbox! That video is 9 to 5 Breakdown --awesome.
Everyone is always shocked when Tim and Chance switch places, essentially, in this song.🔥🔥🔥 That is why people ask reactors to react to many other videos before this one to really appreciate the switch! Awesome reaction!👏👏👏
LMBO! The look, it was hilarious. Waiting for the finale, waiting for the 'look' again. Ah Ha you didn't disappoint when Chance dropped the bottom out!! Enjoying your channel immensely, glad you decided to return to UA-cam!! Home Free has a new live performance done on Studio 10 in Australia. A home Free original from their new album, "Road Sweet Road", Chance carries the bass in it. Might want to check it out too. Thanks for the giggles.
This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
I don't need a reactor to give a lot of critique. If they do - that's fine. I think most of us just want to know if you like it (or not) and /or how it made you feel. Your reactions have been great - very entertaining. It's obvious you love music and appreciate great voices. Thanks! 🍟
What Denise said! I hit subscribe as soon as you paused the first time. I was able to see your appreciation and respect for these guys and their talent right away. Most of us Home Fries are just looking for reactors that help us get their music out to the world!
That was all Chance's voice. Chance started off as the bass singer for an a capella group called Street Corner Symphony. When Chris Rupp decided to leave Home Free they chose Chance to replace Chris so Tim could sing in higher octaves, and Chance could sing bass. Chance has a 4 octave range . This was a great reaction! You should check out their covers of , Moonshine, Down To The Honky-tonk, Good Ole Boy Good Time, Finally Free, Meet In The Middle, This Is How We Roll
Love Austin, but Rob is a honey butter biscuit. Chance's low note reminded me of the old 'reverb' we used to attach to our radios. My setup was a car radio in a chiffarobe (if you know what that is - kind of a free-standing closet.) with a reverb hooked to it. It would vibrate the floor. Best sound system I've heard and I'm now over 70.
Amazing as always.. Home Free you always one up yourself every time you sing another cover song...Love my Boys ..🏡🆓🏡🍟 Enjoy your reactions.. they didn't layer anyting that was all Adam Chance😊
This reminded me of when I was in high school.m I was a first soprano (1 of 2) but I sing as low as 2nd Baritone when we performed the director would put me in which group was weakest because back then I had a very powerful voice. But, the shock on people’s faces when they saw me switching around on stage to sing different parts was pretty cool. These guys are epic. As well as Pentatonix.
Tim has a 5-octave range. He is so very awesome. Chance doing that low note was awesome. He also carried the bass line throughout the whole song. You need to check out Tim's solo he did Will You Still Love me Tomorrow/Stay. It will blow your mind! Love your reaction!
This song was sure full of surprises huh?!! Really enjoyed your reaction❤ Chance sings at least 3 octaves, he can sing tenor, baritone AND bass. Have you heard any of Tim's doo wop songs-Will You Still Love Me/Stay; or Austin & Rob singing Nessun Dorma? You might need something a bit stronger in your coffee!
Tim also shows off his higher register with The Bass Gang on "Hooked on a Feeling," and it is so much fun! ua-cam.com/video/EhVsGnQmxMU/v-deo.html and they also sing "Crazy" in Patsy Cline's key: ua-cam.com/video/MD17NnmqHuQ/v-deo.html
Yes, a song with surprises. Tim who goes tenor, Austin and Rob who also hit different notes than usual, the inhuman vocal percussion and as a great end to the surprises the incredible bass of Chance. Simply fabulous
I love how in Every reaction video I've seen EVERYONE is in SHOCK when they hear his Base notes kicked into high gear! Everyone's expression is one of "what the what is happening right now; this is incredible" !!! I'm OBSESSED!
Standing live in front of all of them in concert (I had front row seats) and hearing Tim or chance go low low live is so amazing. I also love the "this is their bass singer". No, this is ONE of their bass singers!
I know that it's not the holiday season, but you might want to give a listen to Home Frees cover of "Do You Hear What I Hear", because in my humble opinion, it's one of their very best vocal performances. Adam Chris Rob Austin and Tim do a phenomenal job on this one.
You just have to watch Chance to see when he's carrying the bass line. And for a while in there, I think he and Tim were both doing the low parts (baritone and bass) and then Tim moves back into the melody so Chance moves into the bass line. Remember that Chance was the bass in his previous group (Street Corner Symphony). His presence in the group gives Tim so much more freedom. Plus Chance has such a wonderful voice, adding a completely different timbre to the group.
Love that first look! Yes, we all said WHAT -- Tim can sing anything he wants to. Great reaction to one of their absolute masterpieces!! Yes, same key as Cam; GO Austin! New sub for more Home Free, please 🍟🍟🍟
Yes, they're in the same key as Cam!! There are clues in some Home Free videos regarding who's about to sing next or is singing in whatever vocal range. People, especially women, got all excited over Tim's low voice in "Man of Constant Sorrow" when actually it was Adam Chance who came in on the really low notes. Chance opens "Helplessly Hoping" singing tenor and is joined by tenor Rob Lundquist in perfect unison!! Don't forget to watch Adam Rupp's drum solo!
When you have a five man grump with five sound effect guys, three bass, three or four tenors four baritone, two opera singers and one who arranged so difficult he was told to stop ,nobody knows what is going to happen next!
I loved the look on your face when Tim started the song off in the same key as Cam sang it. Then when Chance sang...Wow! If you would like to hear more of Chance's low range, he has some songs out with the hound and the fox. I would recommend "Wayfaring Stranger". They all Nailed their parts so well that you forget that its acapella music. Amazing!!!
Really enjoy your reactions especially to Home Free! Tim can sing even higher! Check out his solo rendition of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. Just make sure you have your coffee before or after and not during 😂
Chance's foghorn note was amazing, wasn't it? If I hadn't watched this video over a hundred times, I would have been shocked by the foghorn note by Chance.
It blows me away every time I hear Tim Foust. I love a cappella music and hearing them for the first time my jaw dropped. Technically perfect every time. Each guy is very vocally versatile. Each new project they do is gold.❤️🔥
I was going to comment about the group but everyone else has covered what I was going to say. So, instead, I'm going to thank you for serving your community by being a firefighter/first responder. A new subscriber here.
I love your reaction because you sound just like we feel when we listen to them. I've run out of superlative adjectives to describe these guys. The talent and skill is just off the charts. Great reaction!
This is one of my favourite songs of theirs. Home Free brings me so much joy. It makes me wish I could actually sing but ill have to to that only in my lounge room😂. Great honest reaction, mate. Love seeing emotions on reactor's faces.
Ha! It's always fun to somebody's first reaction to this. I'm sure my face looked just like that the first time, too. They are all so talented. How lucky we are that they all found each other.
Now that you've seen the studio video, watch the audience taken video "Mayday Live" - it's quite different from the studio version and guaranteed to blow your mind. Austin, Tim & Chance are all also song writers. Home Free has a new video series "Stargazer Trilogy" the songs were written by Austin. Only chapters 1 and 2 are out yet but they're soulful, spiritual & just terrific. Love from a subscriber in Canada.
Home Free has a video series out called From the Vault. Usually once a month (although they've skipped 3 of the last 4 months dammit) they will release one of the "behind the scenes" videos that show the panning of the camera and a lot of the little things that go on when doing a video, The one for Mayday was released last December and is #19 of the 20 videos (so far) in the series. A very interesting insight into how crazy these guys can be while still putting out some great stuff. And oh yeah, you might want to look up the group Street Corner Symphony. I love their video for "Madness". Chance was their bass singer before joining Home Free. And since Home Free already had a regular bass singer...
Yes, one of my favorites of theirs. It’s the switcheroo, with Tim, the bass, going high and Chance the baritone going low. So much fun. Tim’s just showing off his 5 octave range for ya. Home Free is so versatile so that’s why they’re so good and so much fun. If you want to hear more of Chance’s voice try I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Some Girls Do. He and Tim kill it in Brothers in Arms. Good reaction! They also just released Delta Dawn - it’s great!🥰
To let you know Chance was the bass of his old group Street Corner Symphony. They were really lucky to get him to sing baritone when Chris Rupp left. Tim has a 5 octave range so now you know.
I really think that they were going for a ships horn with Chance's bass note & yes, I think it's layered. Given the whole mayday theme it makes sense & it sure sounds like one to me.
Did you know that Adam Rupp does a lot of the arrangements with another friend?? He is PURE genius! All the singers sing their own and Adam Rupp does the blending through his arrangements.
Great reaction! Please keep the Home Free coming there’s so much more to explore! They post a new video out to twice a month and they’ve put out so many great originals lately worth hearing.
This was a great reaction. I've seen tons of these, but you, sir, just earned a subscribe. You have a really good ear. Enjoyed hearing all of your reaction and thoughts. Did you study music? Surely you must have, to discern what you did.
Yeah, they do use loops in places. I saw them in Sept. 22, and Rupp showed us how it works. For instance in "Man of Constant Sorrow", Rupp was able to beatbox and also do the overlay of the harmonica sound.
Just found your channel and subscribed! Home Free has released a bunch of new songs in the last year not to mention some of their solo projects. Check out Tim's Doo Wop song Will You Still Love Me/Stay or The Bass Gang Hooked On A Feeling ft Tim Foust. Or maybe, Austin and Rob attempting opera. Or..all of them.😁
There’s a quick hack to determining who sings bass on Home Free’s songs that works at least 95% of the time. When they are standing in formation with 3 in front and Adam Rupp with someone else in the back, that person next to the beatboxer is covering majority of the bass line so they can synch up better. Tim and Adam Chance are a great match because they can switch so seamlessly, which allows Tim to soar more in ways that he couldn’t before without someone to properly cover his bass part for the full duration of a song. 😁
They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣
LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Adam's beatboxing is magical
Loved your reaction! Everyone is shocked when Chance hits that low note...and of course Tim in his high register! Chance was the bass in his previous group...Street Corner Symphony!
Yes. This was done in the original key.
BTW, Chance was the bass singer of his previous group.
BTW, you might enjoy Chance singing with the Hound and Fox. His, "Wayfaring Stranger", displays his lower register.
Chance plus Hound and Fox are an incredible treat! A Whistling Lad is also spectacular
Such a versatile group, Chance does a fantastic job carrying the bass line when Tim takes the lead.
Everyone gets surprised.
They forget they were told he has five octaves and uses all of them quite well.

Great reaction!! Yes this was sung in the same key that Cam did.

You're absolutely right!
Everyone is always shocked when Tim and Chance switch places, essentially, in this song.🔥🔥🔥 That is why people ask reactors to react to many other videos before this one to really appreciate the switch! Awesome reaction!👏👏👏
Thanks for watching everyone, be sure to check out the other videos!
If you haven’t already viewed Home Free’s “When a Man Loves a Woman” please do so - I think it’s Austin’s best so far
If you want to hear Tim's real high notes, please listen to his " Will You Still Love Me/ Stay

Another of my favorites on his solo channel is Since I Don't Have You.

They are all experts at multi-tasking, I think!

Nope. Chance takes the bass in the back. He is so versatile. I liked Chris, but Chance is better at taking different roles.
