Why is it if I was to drive “the get away car” and my friend killed someone out of my sight, I’m as guilty as they are. If a cop witnesses a beating like this, does not intervene OR report what happened OR will not arrest the officer, they are not guilty by association. Blue-line gang.
Yup. In my state it is a CRIME for a teacher or even a vet not to report "potential' child or even animal abuse.
Blows my mind that so-called 'professionals' are not held to the same standard of conduct as a janitor in a daycare.
Moreover, in my county I think teacher have two hours from learning of it to report it or they've committed a crime. They don't get to review body cams and make sure their stories all align

Why is the sheriff involved in something the police were handling?
In FL the Sheriff’s Department of each county is over top of every municipal police department. Each Chief of Police is sworn by that Sheriff, and then swears in their officers. Warrants / Capias’ are also the responsibility of the Sheriff. Deputies have full authority anywhere in their county, unincorporated, county, city, and highway. This Sheriff, like many FL ones are full of themselves.

His county any town in his county is under his purview.. and when it comes to doing raids or alot of the official issuances its sherriffs who do it.. plus straight up most of the drugs today are laced with fentayl its a scourge killing people buy just breathing it him soo many cops have overdosed searching cars ans people with drugs that either laced with fentanyl or actual pure fentanyl. So many people including kids its affecting.. I like it in the fact if forces people to act..
The Sheriff has countywide jurisdiction. Any city or other municipality falling within the county is still the jurisdiction of the Sheriff. It is the same concept State Police use to involve themselves in any police action within the state. The only exceptions would be federal property or tribal lands within the county.
The times I've hung around a group of cops over a few beers I always heard stories of them being brutal in their duties.
I get so tired of hearing "its only a few bad apples". If an officer knows this kind of shit is happening and they do nothing then they are bad cops as well.
I had a friend in the NYPD back in the days of 9/11. He was based in Harlem. Their motto was " Let's go out and bust nig#ers heads. And they did. And they laughed. Of course he went on to become homeland security.

Police in Florida are enabled by their governor
Local conservative talk radio stations here in Florida regularly have sheriffs and police chiefs on their shows. They go on and on about the sanctity of the Constitution, but never a peep about police brutality, arrested cops, etc. Have heard them mumble something about "bad apples", but that's rare.
Absolutely agree. Governor DeSantis is one of the most corrupt persons in the United States. He changed laws so he could remain in office while seeking higher office, made it impossible to see his travel records, and who he was getting visits from at the governors mansion. I wholeheartedly agree a Sheriff should be elected, but in this case the previous Sheriff stepped down 11 months prior to the election. Does it make sense to spend time, resources, and taxpayer money to set up an impromptu election for an interim Sheriff for less than a year just to do it all again? What would you have done? It's a police state for sure, I lived there for 27 years. Once you've in any trouble there it's tough. I finally left in 2017 and not had one conversation with a cop since then.

In Canada, David Menzies, got arrested by RCMP plainclothes security services for doing the very same thing when questioning Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland , because the cop claimed he wasn't a real reporter and that he assaulted the cop when the cop walked in front of him, when in reality, the cop assaulted Menzies. If a "regular" reporter had done that, there'd never have been an arrest. Double standard based on how a cop feels, not law.

I remember Judd doing a media conference where he was saying Polk county was under attack with pipe bombs being planted in many places by antifa, it turned out to be the proud boys who were actually placing the bombs around the county and Judd failed to do another media conference to rectify his claims about antifa, he covered up the fact that it was a violent right-wing group responsible for the planting of the bombs, his corrupt political views dictated his actions in misleading the public.

As a Saint lucie county resident and one who’s been brutalized by them, I also know of many things they’ve done before cameras. The corruption here is pretty serious and has cost so many their freedoms!
Florida is a $hithole state. I had to go there a couple years ago to prepare my deceased father's residence for sale, but have no intention of ever returning there. I don't see how people can live in such a crappy climate, with such pathetic government, and out of control militarized tyrants masquerading as law enforcement.

It’s such a shame, the Last sheriff of that county was such a great guy, in office for 20 years. He retired last year for health issues and this new one was appointed by Gov Desantis. Hopefully he gets defeated when they have the next election.
