I was driving by and saw that police headquarters had interesting cruisers, one from 1960, and some humvees and emergency response vehicles I haven't seen before. I decided to go out and express my first amendment right to photograph and film in a public area
I spoke with detectives before this encounter and they were courtesy and I informed them what I was doing.
As I was walking around three plain clothes officers come up on me in an agressive manner try and grab me, back me down against a wall and surround me escalating the situation.
I filed a complaint against officer Hanely Badge #655 the others have yet to be identified.

You should have a list of rights prepared for when you interact with unlawful cops or ones who want to bark directives.
Something like officer I’m going to read you your rights… you have the right to respect me as an American… you have the right not to violate any of my constitutional rights… you have the right not to have my ID… you have the right to go back in the police station/car… you have the right to not catch a lawsuit for your department…
Something like that would add a fun element to your interactions while showing how ridiculous police treat innocent civilians.

The fact that they pressed him like that while he was non-threatening, backing up, and scared makes this video even more powerful. Seeing those idiots abuse their authority results in more people hating our broken law enforcement system and the cowards that hide behind it. Welcome Home .. I too am an RNV veteran and so very much agree with you. My personal belief "sadly" is that there are a great many citizens who are content on being treated as sheep by many layers of our government. An unknown percentage of our government view "We The People" with distain and contempt. A portion of government at assorted levels use police officers to serve as containment personnel or "sheep dogs". A vast number of police officers are undertrained and not educated as to the laws and rights they had sworn to uphold and protect. That being the freedoms provided for under the US Constitution. In our country a person can .. upon .. completing a police training academy (if required as some agencies do not have that requirement as standard policy). The police training period is usually six months. Our "US Constitution" is touched upon but only for a short amount of class time. IF WE DO NOT PROTECT OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS , THEY CAN AND WILL QUIETLY GO AWAY. To the auditors. Flex your rights and report .. some of ""We The People" thank you.

As ex-law enforcement myself, I can say that these officers are using Terry Stop tactics of the 1980’s and early 1990’s when police could basically get away with much more hostile acts then they can today. Body cameras basically changed the entire policy and practice of most departments instantly upon implementation. It’s not fool proof however… as we all see on channels like Sean’s and others.

Officer Hanley behavior was driven by ego the entire time, even when given the chance to apologize, he couldn’t bring himself to do it, and such class shown when female officer came over and D escalated you cooperated with her, probably made Henley even more mad that he couldn’t get you to do what he wanted

I think the asking "Do you have identification" isn't about checking for warrants, it a way to dominate a person when they are doing nothing illegal.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to lawfully ID yourself, stating you name and d.o.b. (and possibly address of residence, I'm speaking from from a place other than NY) is sufficient to ID yourself. You are not obligated to present a government issued ID. Although I have heard rumor that that was required in California to keep an ID card on your person, I hvent researched this. However, in the state I'm currently trying to familiarize myself with, the minimum requirement is only to verbally state name and d.o.b. (and unfortunately this at the point of being lawfully detained, I believe most states do not require this until arrest). Point being that the card is not a requirement to i.d. yourself.

It's a ways to force a detention first and foremost. Some officers will go as far as keeping your ID until you answered their questions.

ONLY in a state with a stop and ID statute do you need to identify yourself and then ONLY if you have been at minimum, LAWFULLY detained. In some states with statutes (Texas for example) they require lawful arrest before ID must be presented.

I disagree. With these thugs, standing your ground would be seen as aggression. These cops were ready to go hands on and once engaged they could taser or beat the auditor while later claiming he was resisting. The best thing is to keep distance until someone can deescalate.

I can't believe this was only 2 years ago or is closer to 3. I feel like I've been following you longer, sean. I remember seeing this video pop up in my feed, i was at home, with no work because of the covid and followed you ever since, bro. After this, auditors were popping up everywhere, but one thing never changed, and that was me always considering you one of the very best at what you do sean. Once again , this is how things always escalate quickly out of control because of their aggressive initial contacts. They only see a criminal that has to be controlled and conquered before spoken to. I could feel the tension thru the screen. The two looked totally possessed, and that third was even worse.

Hopefully as you’re channel grows ( 20 to 50 k ) you’ll consider going live so that we , supporters, can help by calling the precinct and alerting their superiors to what’s going on in real time. That usually resolves things really quick. Inundating their call center is their worst nightmare. It also adds to your safety.

I feel like its done on purpose to instigate a reaction, so just out of a natural defense/fear you may push back at them, or run, or do something they can now say was why they were "justified" to apprehend, arrest, what have you, even though no lawful reason to approach to start....I've seen it in many videos on youtube, and then officer can later say was "fearful for own safety" or person was causing a disturbance, though they actually started the escalation, so now they had to react at the person.
If i saw those guys I wouldn't know they are police officers. They are not in uniform so honestly it would confuse and scare me.

My blood boiled watching this video out of all your videos . By police policy they are MANDATED to identify themselves especially when they engage the public . They CANNOT refuse to identify themselves. But the worse offender was the older plain clothes officer who literally came at you and refused to ID .
