  • There has been a series of papers that have come out in the last year showing how following a fasting mimicking diet (FMD) affected patients with advanced cancers, and just last week, early Alzheimer’s. So, in this video we will go through what FMDs are and what this latest studies tell us.

    Once a month now? He was pushing this for once every three months previously. I've done this a number of times and it's honestly less unpleasant to just do a water fast for 3.5 days, which is what this imitates. You're only hungry the first day during a 3.5 day fast. You're hungry constantly eating the FMD. And I didn't buy his overpriced nonsense but met the macros and micros with my own recipe.

      i disagree. it's convenient and easy. after a few cycles you adjust. water fasting risks loss of lean muscle and bone. but you can try DIY fmd if money is an issue. there are a lot of blog posts on how to do this.

    Very nice. Thanks for the update. My only negative about Dr. Longo's FMD is that it is prohibitively expensive. A third or quarter of the current price would be much more palatable (pardon the pun).

    Thanks Sheekey! I have been using the FMD for 5 days per week and then two anabolic days with high protein and a caloric surplus. On anabolic days with high quality animal proteins, I lift weights and on catabolic days I do aerobic exercises. The catabolic days are my FMD where I follow a vegetarian keto diet and push 500-1500 calorie deficits. In the end I make sure that I am averaging around a 500 calorie deficit/day for a 1 pound/wk weight loss. It isn’t as near as challenging or unhappy as water-fasting and I sleep well at night unlike with water-fasting. So far so good.

    I also wonder if the Prolon will be as effective if the 700kcal threshold is not a drastic calorie deficit compared to baseline? for example if one's intake for weight maintenence is 1200kcal then it could suggest that 400kcal may be better because the Prolon calorie amount is based on an average daily intake of 2000kcal per day as the maintenance amount

    It's all about the entropy production. Since all in our universe is in a cycle, life is based on a cycle, you need live in a cycle. Fasting reorganize your internal structure and minimize the entropy production in your body.

    I would love to try ProLon's Fasting Mimicking Diet Plan to see if I would experience any benefits, but it is too expensive for me. It cost $187 for five days of food, or $175 if you get a subscription plan. Still, I am very interested in this research and what new health and longevity recommendations and insights it could provide.

    • @peterbhagwandeen8359
      @peterbhagwandeen8359 Рік тому +1

      It averages to $12 per meal for 5 days. Minus the standard cost of food, it costs very little. However you could just try a water fast, which is definitely affordable 🙂

      @@peterbhagwandeen8359 While I am sure that $12 a meal for 5 days is affordable for some people. I am very low income (I live off of SSDI), and I cannot afford more than $4 -$7 a meal, except on rare occasions (I might be able to justify $25 a day if it is only for 5 days - but that would mean a max of $125 and that is stretching it for me). I have tried water fasts before, but the problem is that they tend to cause me to get really bad headaches after the 22 hour mark and they aggravate my generalized anxiety disorder.
      Still, I appreciate your advice. Thank you. Hopefully someone else who reads this comment will be better able to make use of it.

      Yes I have a few olives and avocados per day and a bit of vegetable soup. I aim for about 500 calories per day and avoid protein as much as possible. It is much much easier than water only, and If I miscalculate I will still be below his limit, if I ate nothing for 5 days it would still be ok, so can't go wrong really.
