End of SCRIPT BOOK for Shiv and Tom in the car : An accomodation, an equilibrium, that could last with a certain stabilty, proxy wars and detentes for many years to come..nothing needy from either side. A queen and a prince. Two bombs transported with great care.
Or another nuance: What Shiv really needs from Tom is pain, and she knows he's holding out on her. That they're able to have fun-and this is probably not the intended message by the writers-shows that there's a *chance* they might figure something out. It'll be depraved. It'll also be love.
Shiv has spent three seasons hiding her emotions from everyone and it's getting harder and harder for her to keep it up. The look at 1:30 after she says "I was fucked up long before I met you" says everything. She broke his heart and he broke hers, whether she admits it or not. I hope Sarah Snook takes the best actress emmy, such an incredible performer
oh my god i didnt even notice this, thanks for pointing it out ... sarah snook is insanely talented!!! as a sort of parallel, her look away here reminds me of another instance in s4, i dont remember which episode, when her and tom are in the car together and something tom says makes her smile but she looks out the window for a split second so he cant see it before turning back to him
@@pursuitofvictories5 Yes I noticed that moment too! It's interesting because Snook and Mcfadyen both do this - they react to situations with two expressions, first the fake emotion and then the real one. Tom does this the most, he'll laugh and smile and then his face will settle into sadness or discomfort immediately after. The difference is that he shows it openly and no one seems to notice or care (poor Tom), whereas Shiv always hides it. It's a great representation of how they are both major fakers but deep down Tom wants to connect and be vulnerable, (hence why he seeks out Greg in moments of heightened emotion) whereas Shiv will always be in defense mode because showing true emotions is a weakness. Which also happens to be the main cause of their relationship problems. God I love this show!!
The look away at 1:27 is the most important, because it shows us that Shiv knows he's right. He fucked her up but not by what he did to her, but by her not letting him in all the way
@@cometface I think it also speaks to how duplicity is the characters' preferred language, thanks to the way they've been raised. Earnestness always takes them aback since it's the exception and not the rule. They always ask each other, "is this real?" and I'm sure that was what Shiv was thinking when Tom gave a heartfelt, no-strings-attached apology.
This was foreplay for them lol. Shiv loves needling Tom to get a reaction and is secretly delighted Tom won't budge, Tom loves being needled by Shiv because he knows from Shiv it's a sign of love...it's perfect. They're perfect.
@@Δ-Δ-Δ-Δ until this season, we never really knew what Shiv and Tom were like together in bed. After this scene, they're much more flirty and affectionate, and we see them text each other about how good the sex is getting.
2:30 I see this scene as a symbol of the two of them (re)uniting. With their hands intertwined and the camera showing them both with their wedding rings still on. Honestly, I’m kinda rooting for them.
Eh he married her for her money and both of them know that, sure there is a genuine love their but let's not pretend that Tom's intentions were ever pure.
I think you are right and frankly I think he is the only person she has any genuine love for also. That phone call.....she really was allowing herself to be vulnerable. He was honest and it really hurt her.....
@@rashadginn8768 Just because it's love doesn't mean it is healthy or even acceptable. Lots of people show love in horrifying and inhuman ways. They can build a healthy relationship if they (and more specifically Tom) can forgive each other. Whether Tom *should* is an open question.
1:10 *"Fucking me up? Is he serious? HIM fuck ME up?"* Laugh then look back *"Oh God, he really means this, he really thinks this, we can't have that, he is nothing"* Shiv: Oh, you should be so lucky!
Obviously you haven't been paying attention to Tom the past four seasons. Yes, Tom is a gold digger. We know this. He knows this. She knows this. But he actually does really love Shiv. It's tragic seeing this guy unveil his heart and bear his soul to her, only to see her coldly dismiss him, deflect with humor and sarcasm, make it about her, change the subject.
I think the safest bet is that the money wasn't why Tom loved Shiv; it was why he never hated her.
Damn, perfectly said.
DAMMM, goooodddd
A stupid, unsanitary kid's game is the literal perfect metaphor for their entire relationship LOL.
Hygiene is for the weak.
I had a more mature relationship relationship than them when i was in secondary school
Bitey perfectly sums up their relationship. They’re gonna keep hurting each other until someone can’t take it anymore

Acting like a highschool couple at a company event 😂😂
Sarah Snook's facial acting is fucking unreal, such a rapid cascade of a million emotions. 1:10 to 1:20 is just mesmerizing.

I hate Shiv but the actrees is brilliant

They are both finally revealing themselves to each other.
It says something that this is the ONLY time we hear about their sex life, and apparently it's great

Also “bitey” as their unifying act is so apt for their broken relationship.
I don't think Shiv would have ever let Tom go. He may have been the only person in her life that truly loved her, and she knows it.

Love them so much.
They were so toxic and harmful to each other.
But at the same time, they had such chemistry.
I want to see Bitey outtakes.
Bitey, boar on the floor… good family fun
their relationship is so scrumptious i will never love any relationship more
What.
The Tom/Shiv/Greg love triangle is my Roman Empire (no pun intended)
this makes sense from someone with a will graham profile picture
there's GOTTA be lines they cut after this

Tom made her run off. He played too rough😂

this was yuri

u get it
Shiv always looking at Tom's package. 😂
What minutw
I noticed 😂 yeah
@@angelhadid2062 2:14 I think is this part
His package😭😂😂do you mean his front of his back I'm confused??
Good thing Tom is a pain sponge
Shiv mistake througout the series was underestimating Tom. She thought her name meant she had the upper hand with Tom. She was so wrong
God, they just circled and then attacked each other, like sharks.
I wanna play Bitey with someone like that 😫
This is not a kid's game
I need to know the song too, please!
Tom is trying so hard.. but shiv… is ALOT an makes things so hard.
One episode later and everything goes to shit

hes already quite rich tho
