I truly adore the little detail that Shiv sees Kendall completely distraught and assumes something is wrong with their mother. Logan has always been such a strong, unbeatable presence in Shiv and her siblings’ lives that nothing could be seriously wrong with him, right?

Well she admitted later in the episode that she said mom because she was kind of hoping it was mom and not dad. Her dad means so much more in her life than her mom ever could, and that even means from a place of love. Not just financially and emotionally and all the rest. Her dad dying is 1000 times more devastating to her than her moms passing ever could be.

It's also showing that deep down, Shiv is still daddy's little girl. There's an indication that Shiv is his Logan's favorite since she's his only daughter but Shiv failed his test many times because of how her arrogance, proud, and too much gaslights as Shiv mostly wants to play safe and likes to double cross everything.

@@Chibbykins I mean he kind of told us more than once both directly to Ken and to others the best way Logan knows how 😂
Also, on a more analytical level, I think the kids naturally mirror their godparents and the relationship dynamics can inform us how Logan views his children:
-Ken/Frank is who Logan is the hardest on & who he has the most tension with over the years, but we saw how Logan reacted in his state of delirium when he thought someone was being mean to Frank and we saw how Logan reacted when he thought Ken was in danger during the lockdown. Despite his rivalry with both Frank and Ken that’s who he has a special relationship with and why he keeps bringing them both back into the fold despite the betrayals.
-Shiv is like Gerri as in she’s a woman and she’s also a strong person that Logan can trust and count on consistently, and like Gerri I don’t think he always appreciates Shiv value because she’s still just a woman. However, it’s easier for him to have a relationship with Shiv & Gerri for this very reason throughout the years because they don’t intimidate or pushback with hostility, or at least they didn’t for many years.
-Roman is 100% like Karl (I know it’s not confirmed that he’s Roman’s godfather but I think it’s fair to deduce this since he’s second in Logan’s henchmen group and Roman was born second) IMO in how they appear as sycophants for Logan’s acceptance and approval despite the fact that they still provide a true valuable asset to Logan.
However, Karl & Roman are the ones who bend to Logan will more naturally & are compliant & essentially going along to get along.
Out of his 3 henchmen I do believe he was closes to Frank and same goes for Ken.

But as time went on, and I realized how they weren't really showing Logan at all, I remembered that Succession is about portraying realism in our modern time. and I just knew he wasn't coming back. Just stunning television, never seen anything like it.

He tried not to overwhelm them but be blunt about the gravity of the situation. There have been inklings of Tom being the best among them in earlier seasons but damn, this moment solidified that despite his faults, Tom is unironically a great guy. And Shiv was very lucky
